Five New Dallas Restaurants Diners Need to Check Out Right Now | Eater Dallas

"A breakfast-and-lunch spot in Plano built around a namesake 'deconstructed omelet' that can be loaded with fillings like chicken apple sausage, spinach, onions and mushrooms; the menu also features items such as corned beef hash eggs Benedict, paninis, wraps, chicken-fried steak and other classic comfort offerings." - Brittanie Shey

We love this place! On our most recent visit, I ordered a vanilla latte and a hash stack, my husband ordered one of the eggs Benedict dishes (he can’t remember which one). Our toddler got the kid’s breakfast plate with an additional side of fruit. The cinnamon toast that came with my dish was AWESOME! My latte was tasty, and the hash stack was very yummy, though it was pretty big, and I wasn’t able to finish it. My husband’s only complaint was that the muffins on his dish were a bit “gummy,” but I tried a bite and didn’t mind. I think the muffins just soaked up quite a bit of the sauce, so it’s probably personal preference there. My toddler loved all of his food, and the side of fruit had a nice variety of berries, grapes, and melon. The service was great, the atmosphere is pleasant, and we will definitely be coming back!

I recently had breakfast at Scrambler Cafe in Plano, Texas, and it was a great experience! The menu is diverse, offering everything from classic omelets, pancakes. The atmosphere is very family-friendly, and the service was excellent. The portion sizes are generous, and the food was delicious. One of the best things about this place is the menu for kids, which makes it perfect for a family breakfast or brunch. Highly recommend!

Kholida R.

Google
My kid asked me to give them five stars), as he enjoyed everything and the service was excellent. I agreed with him

Google
3.5 stars actually. Welcoming and opening environment with plants. For those interested in this location, Yelp shows this location is closed that is not correct. Although we weren’t wowed with the breakfast food we had, for the serving size and price we still recommend it. In addition, the service from Janet was great! She was personable and checked often to refill coffee, water and to check on us.

Google
Absolutely delicious! I had the Eggs Benedict with crab cakes, and it was a perfect blend of flavors. The poached eggs were cooked beautifully, with a rich and creamy hollandaise sauce that added the perfect touch. The restaurant had a warm and inviting atmosphere, and the service was friendly and attentive. Definitely a must-visit spot for brunch lovers!

Today, I went to this cutely decorated brunch spot with my friends and we were greeted so kindly, sat quickly, and served immediately. There were no mistakes with our food, and it all tasted delicious warm, & fresh. This is the best Scrambler location! Will definitely be a regular customer everytime I come to Dallas.

UPDATE Sep 2025: We just never eat breakfast out so great treat to have the occasion/need to eat here again. Glad they stayed in business without us to help. Feel a bit guilty not coming more often. Lunch would be a better option for us. Already know we will be back for breakfast in Oct. 2021: Change in breakfast plans brought us here for a meal finally. Got there at 8am and lots of people there by 9am for weekday breakfast. I got the french toast which we never have at home. She got the scrambler breakfast and brought home leftovers. Great location and visible on south east corner of Independence and Legacy. Get there earlier enough in summer and one gets shaded parking spot right in front. Location used to be a burger joint but the remodeling you would have to know how it looked before to tell.

Went here with my family for a Saturday breakfast around 10:30am. There were some seats available, and we were promptly greeted and seated by the friendly staff. While we were selecting from the menu, one of the staff members asked to serve us something to drink. As for the food itself, we thought it was some of the best pancakes we had. The very berry pancakes and the very berry cinnamon toast was great! Our 5yr old loved his Mickey Mouse pancake as well. All in all, a great experience. We'll be returning for sure!

Yelp
On a lazy Saturday morning we enjoyed a delightful breakfast from Scrambler Cafe. We ordered 2 kinds of pancakes: one had chocolate chips and fruit and the other was a serving of plain pancakes. They were both very good. I loved the one with fruit and chocolate. We also got a side of bacon. Yum. We also ordered two kinds of omelettes. We had the Denver omelette with ham, green peppers, inion, and cheese. Boy, that was delicious. Then, we also ordered the Bacado omelette that included bacon, tomato, avocado, and cheese. That was very good too. I thought the name was really clever. The omelettes came with hash browns that were really tasty. And, we got toast for our breakfasts as well. Service was great! Our order was ready for pick up when we arrived. I thought the restaurant was clean, bright, colorful, and easy to maneuver. I would definitely go back for another breakfast.

Yelp
Mommy & son very early breakfast date :) Scrambler Cafe is our go to! I believe Yoya was the name of our waitress. She was attentive & wonderful. I also occasionally stop by for breakfast with my older son. We love when Kirsten is working. She is such a sweet sweet soul! Food is consistently great. Chicken fried chicken (lunch menu) is my go to!! Their house hot sauce is very flavorful and perfect with any dish! Lastly great coffee! Always hot and fresh. Love when we are offered a free coffee to go!!! My son will pour it over ice & make him a yummy cold drink later in the day!

Yelp
Always enjoy eating here! We sat in a booth. For us that is good seating. The staff is always friendly and accommodating. It gets busy on the weekends when the church crowd arrives. It's a great spot for eating and enjoying the company you're with. Lots of options to choose from. Brunch or breakfast, it's a good spot to eat. Also they have their own hot sauce that you can buy at checkout. It's really good! The food is always good. The ambiance is good if you have the patience to wait for the best table. For us, the booth seating is best. More private and personal. August 2024

Yelp
Nice place to grab a great full breakfast in Plano. I had the Cowboy Omelette and added jalapeños.

Steven F.

Yelp
Scrambler Cafe is a breakfast spot in a quiet part of Plano, yet packed with customers. The atmosphere is very bright and cheery, and the service was beyond friendly. Everything was really good, but I wish they would have seasoned the food better. I found it to be pretty bland, but good nonetheless. I'd come back, sure.

Ozzy B.

Yelp
Today was our first visit. We waited over 15 minutes just to order. The food was cold and mediocre. It was 43.00 for two people and we got basic eggs, bacon and teeny pieces of French toast. Overpriced and the service was awful...she didn't check on us at all. We sat with empty drinks. The place is charming with the decor but food is meh and service lacking. Sad.
google avatar

Leslie T.

Yelp
Came here to meet a friend for lunch and decided to dine solo when she texted to say she spent the night in the ER. The cafe is clean, bright, and airy, and my server, Nadia, was super sweet and attentive. The chicken apple pecan salad was fresh and tasty. I took half home because the portion was huge. Definitely recommend Scrambler Cafe for breakfast or lunch.
google avatar

Shannah H.

Yelp
We decided to visit the newest breakfast place close to home, only to realize they've been open for a few years now. (!!) There's a reason Scrambler is recommended frequently on Nextdoor. Our omelet was delicious and the pancakes were tender and tasty. Coffee was strong but not bitter, and service was fast. We're ashamed we haven't been here before but can promise we'll be back.
google avatar

Vida L.

Yelp
Absolutely fanatbulous! Everything was so good and fresh! Highly recommend this breakfast place! The server was super friendly and I regret I didn't catch her name but thank you !
google avatar

E R.

Yelp
Service was the only, and I mean only, good thing about this restaurant. The food was just awful. Grits literally tasted like cardboard, pancakes were dry, stale and overly sweet. The veggie omelette tasted like spoiled meat- ironically- and was basically slop on a plate. Even the coffee was bitter and cold. The waitress was very nice and kept offering to box up our food, since it was clear no one was eating much. We will not be back.
google avatar

Yelp
We had a nice brunch on Sunday mid day. Service was a 4.5, the food was a solid 3.75. We shared eggs Benedict and pancakes with my wife. The portion size was good and everything was cooked well. My son's buffalo chicken salad was nice and fresh and large portion. My daughter in law had a wrap and she was very happy with that. Although crowded service was excellent.

Yelp
I had a decent dining experience here today. My party totaled four, 2 adults and twins. We came around 12 noon and were seated immediately. We were served water while we looked over the menu. I ordered the New Yorker (potato pancakes topped with NY Pastrami, poached eggs, and Hollandaise sauce). My order came out pretty quickly, in about 8 minutes. My meal was average because the hollandaise sauce tasted like a mix of melted Cheese Whiz and American cheese, the pastrami wasn't the best either. I'm actually from NYC I know great pastrami, for the New Yorkers reading this think Katz Deli for example. Everyone else's meals were good to them however. My wife had the Hash Stack HASH STACK (Hash Browns topped with bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, gravy and cheese) which came with cinnamon toast. I had a bite off it was pretty good. I would recommend this dish, because the different flavors come together in a scrumptious way. My kids had the Cowboy omelette (Bacon, ham, sausage, Monterey Jack cheese, and cheddar cheese) with two stacks of pancakes and the cinnamon French toast off of the kids menu. They both enjoyed their meals I had a bite of the Cowboy omelette and it was delicious but too salty and just perfectly cooked. I can see myself coming back here for brunch and I would recommend Scrambler Cafe, the service wasn't bad. The service on my visit wasn't exceptional, but since the food came out fast and we were seated immediately I was pleased with the service.

Yelp
We went to breakfast here on a Monday and the place was busy, great atmosphere and clean. Great service, the owner stopped by our table to welcome us in. We had the original breakfast with pancakes and migas, both were great! Will definitely be going back

Diane D.

Yelp
The restaurant is cute! It's delicious and we will be back when we come back to town!! My two sisters and I loved it! Our server Sarah was amazing. She was warm and genuine!!!! Don't walk run to this restaurant.
google avatar

Nikki J.

Yelp
A bustling Sunday morning and they still had us seated within ten minutes. Super efficient, hot and yummy food, and attentive service. Meant to take photos but scarfed it down too quickly. It's just the kind of breakfast spot where everything is exactly the way you want it - which is harder and harder to come by - and in the speed you need it! New favorite!
google avatar

Steve E.

Yelp
I took my Daughter to breakfast this morning at 'The Scrambler Cafe' in Plano, TX (my Granddaughter - the Teenager - decided to 'sleep in'). We didn't have a reservation and the 'After Church Crowd' overflowed onto the patio. Still, it took less than 10-minutes for us to get seated. Kristen was our server and did an excellent job. She brought us water & coffee once we were seated, and took our orders. The food took about 10-minutes to arrive. There were generous portions, and everything was cooked to perfection. Kristen came around three times while we were eating to refill our coffee cups and was very attentive to our dining needs. The bill was reasonable and we both ended up taking food home. The Scrambler Cafe' is definitely a restaurant to return to... and often.

Nancy C.

Yelp
The hostess is very friendly The kids love the kids French toast We were seated very quickly
google avatar

Kristin R.

Yelp
I come here often with my aunt and have absolutely enjoyed every kind of meal we have had! From breakfast to lunch, they have not disappointed! I think at this point they consider us regulars Some favorites of ours are the eggs Benedict, hash, chicken wraps, BLT, pancakes and French toast! Service is stellar and we have enjoyed getting to know the staff...all very kind! Great, fresh-looking diner with a clean, farmhouse feel! Definitely give them a try!

Yelp
I've driven past this cafe so many times and finally decided to stop in to try their breakfast, boy I'm so glad I did! There are only a few breakfast places nearby. The space is open, clean, relatively new. We were greeted by a friendly face and seated immediately on a Tuesday morning. There's a pretty large selection and I would recommend they add more photos because we gravitated towards the pictures items. I ordered the avocado lox toast without onions, It was amazing. Really fresh and upon first appearance, looked small compared to other avocado toasts I've gotten. They are little stacked towers, it was just enough, not too much, no need to for a take home box. I loved the fresh fruit cup that came with. The hubs got a The Scrambler without cheese, since, you know, it was our first time eating here. He thoroughly enjoyed it! Didn't leave a crumb!
google avatar

Sanjna B.

Yelp
We came here at 11:30am on a Thursday morning, so we didn't have to wait at all. We got the Very Berry Cinnamon Swirl French Toast and the Chicken Carnitas Skillet. Both of these items were sooo tasty. The French Toast was well cooked and the berries added a nice pop of flavor. The Skillet was probably my favorite thing. The flavors melded so well together-it was the perfect tex mex dish! I added their house hot sauce on it and it became even more flavorful. Their hot sauce has a smoky chipotle flavor to it which I loved! The only thing I would say is that the price is a little high for the portion sizes, but the food itself is delicious!

Yelp
Great location on the corner of Legacy and Independence Parkway, Plano, TX. Good food, friendly and attentive service. This morning Kristen was my server. She was awesome and a sweetheart. I wish the Scambler Cafe all the success!

Randy K.

Yelp
I have been to Scrambler Cafe in Plano a few times. Enjoyed the Scrambler traditional breakfast with a side of oatmeal. One of a very few places with raspberries as an oatmeal topping. The service was great, fast and efficient. The ambiance was casual and very family oriented. Not inexpensive but very good food for the price.
google avatar

Kari H.

Yelp
Sunday morning breakfast was delightful! Loved the Cinnamon Toast with fruit! My husband ordered Eggs Benedict and he said it was good, but did not prefer their English muffin choice. So many choices. We will be back. Service was friendly & fast. Restaurant was clean and open. You can see the cooking area and that's always fun. Everyone was working hard.

Arabelle R.

Yelp
the service was slow! people who came in after us got their food before us. Just horrible experienc!

Kathy B.

Yelp
They messed up my order and when I called back they were not even apologetic and the manager was rude.

Rob A.

Yelp
We've been going to Scrambler for several years now and it has become our go-to breakfast spot even though it is not close to our home. The food selections are outstanding and the service is top-notch. The owners are typically on-site and very friendly. So are the servers. We highly recommend Scrambler!
google avatar

Jacobe M.

Yelp
Good solid omelettes. One of the few places where the avocados are always fresh. Good size portions, not so bad prices. It's worth a visit or two.
google avatar

Sara F.

Yelp
We LOVE going to Scrambler's for breakfast. Sergio is amazing with our girls and his service is the best. We love sitting in his section each time. Food is great too. Gluten free options are fantastic too!

Danielle A.

Yelp
It's always hard to find a restaurant that will take reservations for breakfast. We were THRILLED to find this one willing to make a reservation for 10 people for breakfast on a Saturday morning. They were ready for us when we got there (and adjusted for 7 without complaint), the service was professional and responsive AND the food was delicious too! We will definitely be back for more!
google avatar

Joanie G.

Yelp
We went searching for a new gluten free breakfast place as we were excited to be able to go in and have a sit down meal! We chose Scramblers because their menu offered more than one gluten free option. When you walk in the place it looks very similar to Eggsquisite. Even the set ups on the tables are identical, w a bowl of endless creamers and creamer options. They also serve the same brand of coffee as Eggsquisite, Lavazza, so good! I tried their version of a skillet breakfast, it's sort of like everything piled into a skillet. The bottom layer is hash browns, then a mix of grilled veggies, spinach, mushrooms, tomatoes, onions and ham. Finally, you choose how you'd like the two eggs cooked, that they set on top of the veggies so delicious! Better half ordered the chicken fried chicken. It came with 2 eggs cooked your choice, grits and pancakes. The chicken fried chicken was as big as the plate. Said it was the beat chicken fried chicken ever, as it had been tenderized and the batter wasn't too hard and crunchy, it was perfect. Of course both entrees are enough for two people, so we needed to go boxes! Our server was Keyla, she is amazing. She's very patient and very attentive. She had our water and coffee refilled before we even had a chance to ask for refills. Made sure our food was to our liking. She came back and checked on us a few times, not overly checking, like some servers come check on you, after each bite of food, oy! She's balanced and awesome! So, we've definitely found a new breakfast place, yay! It's so nice when we can find restaurants with more than one gluten-free option. I was super excited! It's hard enough trying to find daily foods, in the grocery store, that are gluten-free much less a restaurant. We will definitely be coming back for more
google avatar

Leigh P.

Yelp
Food has always been cooked perfectly and waitstaff always mind. Gets crowded on weekends so recommend arriving early.
google avatar

Sarihah M.

Yelp
The food is very salty. The staff is friendly and the service is decent even on a busy Sunday brunch rush. The sweet food items were definitely delicious but anything savory genuinely had me reaching for a glass of water between bites but was still somehow bland? Very interesting. I've eaten here several times and the staff is attentive which I appreciate. The ambiance of the restaurant is a little loud which is great for family brunch not so great for dates or one on one brunches. The overall inside decor is cute and light which is inviting.
google avatar

Maddi B.

Yelp
The Scrambler Cafe is a cute little place! There used to be a Mooyah in this building and it's funny to see how they've updated it. The decor is really cute and everything is perfectly on theme. The menu ranges from sweet to savory, and for the most part has what you'd normally find at any breakfast place, along with a few originals. They also offer their own hot sauce and salsa for sale. We tried the Traditional Breakfast and The Scrambler (scrambler). They were pretty good and had a lot of food for the money. Next time, I need to try the Cinnamon Roll Pancakes! Service was great and super fast. The manager was very helpful and our server, Lorraine, took great care of us. Definitely worth checking out!
google avatar

Melody T.

Yelp
Let just say ...home cooking ...good...and dig in! The entire menu is outstanding! Every dish that comes out makes you want to order it! Host is awesome, staff is kind, and you will leave full!
google avatar

Grace W.

Yelp
Great brunch place. Excellent food and excellent service both times we've been here. Extensive menu with lots of delicious choices. Great kids meal items, too. Mickey pancake!
google avatar

Daniel T.

Yelp
I've been to many of brunch places in the area. This one really stands out. I like its interior design, very modern and contemporary. I had avocado Benedict, and it was good. The waitstaff was friendly and efficient. A great place for brunch.
google avatar

Janelle W.

Yelp
This particular establishment has been racist on many occasions. I live two minutes away so the convenience of the restaurant is perfect for my family. On two separate visits we were treated as if we were invisible. The Asian lady in the front overlooked us , never smiled, and her interaction with us from beginning to end was very rude and unprofessional.
google avatar

Michael L.

Yelp
Yes, a good restaurant in a strip mall with a Grocery store! This was the first time I have ever been in this restaurant, and I live really close too. Went in Sat afternoon for breakfast and was not disappointed. I had the Chicken Fried Steak and Eggs, and they were really well done. Fried steak is obviously made in house, well done! eggs were great along with the hash browns. Wife had the Acai bowl and that was great too. along with a Very Berry Waffle it was really good. service was great seated right away. I can imagine they get busy during weekends and the energy level was really high. Oh, I almost forgot about the hot sauce. I love Cholula but their hot sauce is off the charts good. Had to buy a bottle before I left it was money and love the humor of "remove lid before use" :-)

Michele J.

Yelp
There is a group of professional women who have been meeting here for years, and it was a favorite place to catch up and have breakfast, but after the last 2 times of eating there we will not be back. We went this morning and though our server was great and a nice young man...nothing else was as it normally is...the food, the vibe, most of the staff...all were just off! It is not the cozy, friendly vibe it used to be. We have been going here since they opened and I don't know has happened, but you just lost a group of about 20 women who used to frequent this place!
google avatar

Austin B.

Yelp
We ordered takeout. The scrambler skillet was solid. Decent portion. The hash browns had an odd oily smell. Waffle solo $10.49. Add berries for $3.50 or 50 cents a slice - see pic. Not keen on the value/quality for cost of either order. Plus they use those old styrofoam containers which as we all know are the worst. Waffle was soggy from the condensation.
google avatar

Preston T.

Yelp
It was alright. Friendly staff. Super busy on a Sunday morning, but got a table for 5 in about 10 minutes. Clean restaurant. A little bit on the small side, so it gets really crowded and noisy during peak hours. The food was alright. Nothing special. I ordered the Meat Lovers Skillet ($12). The description says it's "LOADED with hash browns". I was imagining a huge plate of potatoes with eggs, cheese and meat. It was rather disappointing. The amount of hash browns wasn't even enough to cover the plate. You can reference the picture I took. It was maybe a handful of hash browns? I dunno - potatoes are cheap. For $12, maybe be a little bit less stingy with the hash browns? I ordered my kids the cheeseburger ($7) from the Kids Menu. Their hamburger patty wasn't even large enough for the bun. My 6-year old told me his burger was "all bread" lol. What an astute observation from a child. Seven dollars for *maybe* a 3oz. patty with two huge buns. Other than the poor food:price ratio, everything looked nice and it arrived really promptly. Would I come back here again? Hmm I don't think so. Not when there are so many other breakfast/brunch options in the area with better portions for the buck.
google avatar

Denise A.

Yelp
Good food and service. Fresh and generous portions at a fair price with many options to choose from on the menu. Lots of comfortable booth seating.
google avatar

Michael N.

Yelp
I've heard so many great things about this breakfast and lunch spot, and I decided to give it a try this rainy and gloomy Sunday morning. My dining partner and I were greeted promptly and sat at a comfortable table overlooking the shiplap feature wall. The decor was very neutral with turquoise and gray, soft 80s music playing, and lovely smells wafting through the air. My dining partner ordered the chorizo skillet and chose the marble rye bread to accompany his entree. I chose the Cowboy omelet with hashbrowns and pancakes on the side. I immediately knew this was going to be a good dining experience when the server Jon dropped off real maple syrup and real butter before our entrees arrived. The quality of the food was exceptional! Everything arrived in a short time and was extremely delicious. My omelet was full of bacon, ham, and sausage filling along with the two cheeses it came with. The pancakes were on point, melting in your mouth with buttery maple goodness. My only complaint is the distance we had to travel from Farmers Branch, but let me tell ya, it was so worth it!!
google avatar

Gregory B.

Yelp
Extremely mediocre food with a fat price tag. Definition of mid. French toast is a trick do not get it. Everything is $10 more than it should be good luck
google avatar

Fawad A.

Yelp
Great breakfast spot! We got avocado toast, Mickey Mouse shaped pancakes for the kiddo, and eggs and Hashbrowns. Everything was great. Service was great. Coffee hot and fresh.
google avatar

Chris S.

Yelp
Best breakfast and staff in Plano! What a wonderful group of people who work here. We hit this place about once per week: the location is great, my coffee cup is always full and I just love the Bacado omelette. Some of my buddies get berry pancakes and they look amazing! Give it a try!
google avatar

Sun H.

Yelp
Very cozy breakfast spot with a great coffee and huge portions. It's a new breakfast spot after the pandemic swept away like a raging torrent, many eateries like Intermezzo, a beautiful French cafe at the Shop at Legacy. It's a heartbreaking. However, the new brunch cafe was newly born and I came here with my daughter. We ordered a breakfast burrito and coffee. The breakfast burrito was delicious, came originally from Sophia's, NM, it's my favorite breakfast when I lived in LA, most popular with eggs, ham, sausages, onions, and avocados. But this burritos gives a hint of jalapeño that makes me more original. And huge. Lavazza served as I ordered the cappuccino and the coffee cup was huge with cream on it, brimming over, the deep aroma was the best in this area. Friendly staffs made our breakfast enjoyable. Fyi; don't forget the chili sauce. It's incredible.

Terry T B.

Yelp
Food is always consistent - good tasting and fresh. Bright place for quick meal. Noisy with poor acoustics but fine for a quick breakfast or lunch. No a/c today. No sign on the door to indicate as much. Was told that it is broken.
