"It’s hard to find a better date night spot in Mountain View than Scratch. Think romantic dark wood, lots of hanging lights, and an enormous, well-appointed bar. Star dishes include the perfectly cooked pan-seared sea scallops with a smoky jalapeño sweet potato puree and the impossibly crispy fried chicken. If daytime dates are more your thing, stop into Scratch’s weekend brunch and get the fluffy lemon ricotta pancakes. Go ahead and order them “for the table,” but we doubt you’ll want to actually share. For something more casual and a little less expensive, meet your special someone during Scratch’s Happy Hour (from 4-6pm on weekdays) and get the fried chicken sandwich and a beer for just $16, or a grilled angus cheeseburger for $10." - Gabi Moskowitz

Google
Excellent restaurant with beautiful and tasty food, attentive service, and a modern decor. We had Ahi Poke Bites (loved the crisp nori chips), Little Gem Lettuce Salad w/ Salmon, Cider Glazed Pork Chop.

Brunch is delicious. You can order a la carte items or any of the items from the brunch menu. I love the biscuits and the fried calamari. The place doesn't get that crowded.

Google
They have indoor and outdoor seating. We sat outside and it was breezy at times, so we asked them to turn on the heat lamp, which they were happy to do. Our server was very friendly and good. We had fresh fruit, which was good but the Northern Halibut was really good and it came with silky potatoes and wilted spinach. We would order the Halibut again!

We came here for a birthday dinner. Some things, especially the duck potstickers, were really great. The lobster roll was dry which was disappointing.

Google
Service was great, food was fantastic. Visited Scratch for a birthday dinner and excited to go back. Deviled eggs and Brussels sprouts are must dos. Highly recommend! For being a Saturday, we were shocked at how slow it was.

Offered a drink at bar when I entered, bartender friendly, helpful, which is nice. $8 excellent pour of cold Hefeweizen beer. I ordered scallops and they were tasty but there were only 3-4 of them. They were on a slice of pork belly which was 98% inedible fat with 1/2 of a bite was edible yummy pork. Smelled good. That's it, there are no other parts of the scallops dinner. Scallop dinner was the size of an appetizer, but very tasty. I saw the fried chicken looked like a meal sized dinner, smelled good. Lots of parking in back. Restaurant well lit. Restrooms cleaned and well stocked. Disabled restroom HUGE clean, excellent handicapped restroom, one of the best I've ever seen.

Google
Delicious and juicy food. Celebrated a birthday and staff were very professional and friendly. The date appetizer was so good and worth getting! The rotisserie chicken was grilled very well and not dry at all. Dessert is always the best part and the sundae not only had macadamia nuts inside the brownie but also powdered macadamia nuts in the ice cream. This is a great place to go for a celebration dinner.

Good place to have a quiet meal, fresh, local ingredients, good service and big enough wine variety by the glass

Yelp
Saturday night dinner this place is half empty. Classic decor, big bar area, with split rooms for dining. It's not our first time here but this time we felt both the service and food quality have improved. The menu is generally not cheap, but we managed to find something for everyone of under $25 per item. Truffle mushroom flatbread, Ciopinno entree is only $22, Sctarch burger was $25 and hubby was very impressed with the juicy patty and the overall quality of the burger. I saw juices dripping out while he was biting onto it. My Cioppino was loaded with ingredients and the bread was buttery and toasty, every bite was so perfect. Water service was good that we were never out of water during the meal. Although we got different servers during the meal, we were taken care of and left to enjoy dinner peacefully.

Yelp
I can say my wife and I both enjoyed our time here. The staff was friendly, our food arrived in a reasonable amount of time. The atmosphere was good for being able to have a conversation. We came to this restaurant after walking by so many times and not ever looking at reviews. We can both say that we would come back for a special occasion like family visiting town. For what this restaurant does it does well. My wife enjoyed her drink thoroughly and all the food we had to eat. The brussel sprouts came out crispy and with a new flavor note we haven't had before at other restaurants. My fish and chips were some of the best I've personally had, and the flatbread was crispy but light. I would recommend this restaurant for a fancier night out!

Yelp
Stumbled across this restaurant in downtown Mountain View. It's got lots of indoor seating with a fancy restaurant vibe. The crab cake brioche was pretty standard, but the blueberry lemon ricotta pancake was AMAZING. The flavor was just the right balance of sweet & sour, and the pancake texture was just right. The waiter kept coming over to refill our water so definitely good service here!

Alexa C.

Yelp
Delish. I stopped in after a google search for what was near by as I am from out of town. I had the happy hour oysters, flatbread pepperoni, and crème brûlée for dessert! The service was speedy and friendly. Since I was alone, I sat at the bar which Is spacious and inviting, I will definitely come back if in the area.

Yelp
Scratch is a lovely restaurant in downtown Mountain View! I came here on Saturday night for dinner. It was a large group (my friend made a reservation for 20), and I would say the waiters and waitresses did a great job. 5 stars for the service. They kept refilling our water, checking up on us, etc. The food and drinks are a little more on the pricier side (my glass of white wine was $16). I had the truffle mushroom flatbread which was VERY delicious. I would definitely order it again. This was my 1st time back to the restaurant post pandemic. I had been here before in 2019 and 2020, once to the bar and for brunch. Looks like they have a patio now too. I would definitely love to return again soon! - I would probably just sit at the bar and have a drink or two though

Tarryl J.

Yelp
I had a delicious dinner here with my folks (I recommend the duck potstickers and the short rib; my parents enjoyed the grilled filet mignon and pan-seared scallops). Our waitress Alex was super attentive and sweet. She overheard it was my birthday, so she brought out a chocolate tart with a lit candle on top! The atmosphere is classy without being pretentious. We will definitely be back!

Nancy M.

Yelp
We had a big group and we went in after our hike for brunch. Very accommodating. We sat outside and it was very comfortable. The chairs and tables were huge. Had the steak and eggs with the cubed hash browns. Which was amazing. Had the calamari, the sauce inside the dish was delicious. The deviled egg lobster was good but I probably won't order it again. The cornbeef was good. The crab cake over hummus was amazing!! Didn't really like the cornbread waffles or the almond French toast so I was bummed about that. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Amazing service.

Ray S.

Yelp
For ambiance the place was dark and the tables were close together. I could clearly hear the other tables conversation. Food was nicely prepared and looked appealing. The Roasted chicken was bland. It needed any seasoning to give it flavor. Service was poor. I had to ask for simple things like bread or tea multiple times. It took 30 minutes to get the check to leave. From a value perspective, this place is outshined by Denny's

M T.

Yelp
Was here for a corporate event. Absolutely awful from appetizers to salad to the 'dinner'. Flavorless, soggy, cold and tiny portions. One dish was inedible. The dessert of crème brûlée was literally undercooked and liquified. Bad experience from start to finish.

Yelp
The fam and I finally made it back here after 6.5 years! This time, we dropped by for Valentine's Day dinner. Their regular menu was updated with a few specials for that special day. The restaurant was crowded so we were not sure what to expect. Based on our experience, the staff was not prepared to handle the restaurant at its full capacity. We came away disappointed. 1) Upon being seated, we were greeted and provided our menus. Our drink orders were taken. No one offered bread service so we had to ask. 2) We asked for Iced Teas with lemon, but it took several requests/reminders before we received the lemons. We were told the kitchen was cutting more lemons. 3) For appetizers/starters, we ordered their Clam Chowder and Citrus Burrata Salad. Both were disappointing. As Clara used to say in the Wendy's commercial, "Where's the ----?" The chowder was basically potato soup with a few clams. The salad contained 3-4 thin slices of Burrata. I would recommend they call it an Arugula Salad. 4) While leisurely eating our appetizers/starters, the staff brought over our entrees. Being shocked at the sight of them, we moved our appetizers/starters to the side to make room for the new additions. One of the staff members asked if we were done (with the apps/starters) while trying to take them away. Hello!!!! On the plus side, both the Seared Salmon Mojo and Poppyseed Crusted Ahi Tuna were delicious. However, the Ahi Tuna had a bit of heat which was not mentioned in the menu's description. And oh, the side of Cornbread With Black Pepper Honey was the best part of the meal. It could have served as our dessert!

Yelp
came for Happy Hour before the weekly music concert at City Hall. The Hurricane cocktail $10, nice, Chicken sandwich w beer $16, I don't drink beer so they charged $10, best chicken Sammie I've had, it was rotisserie and marinated served w Cole slaw and bun + choice of fried or salad, A+, wife had Lobster roll w sweet potato fries off the dinner menu $29, also excellent, they made it without celery for her. The restaurant is very accommodating for requests. Outside patio is nice and gets sun at certain times of the day, dog friendly. Our server, Sophia was outstanding and very patient. Food, drinks, service, prices, ambience all A+, Can't say enough, we'll be back! plenty of 2hr free Parking lots and street parking

Sabrina M.

Yelp
I've been to downtown Mountain View many times but never been to Scratch before. My friend and I were walking around and saw this place and decided to check it out! The ambience was clean and it was a cute resturant from the inside. We weren't very hungry so we decided to split the crispy tofu and it was delicious! It was so light and tasteful, highly recommend. We also go the truffle fries on the side, which you can never go wrong with truffle fries! I would def come back again.

Ellie A.

Yelp
I've walked passed this place many times the past few years while out on Castro street but never actually ate inside. So when my friend asked if I wanted to have brunch there, I was like sure why not. I checked the reviews beforehand and though hmm, how bad could it be? Let me tell you, it wasn't terrible, but it was not great by any means. I would give it 2.5/5 stars. It is overpriced, the food is bland and lacks finesse, and service was borderline acceptable. 1) Food. So I was debating between two dishes on the menu and I asked the waiter and he recommended to try the corn beef hash. He was raving about it so I was like ok, I'll try that. He should know what he's talking about right? Hmmmm no. Apparently not! So I ordered that and really wish I hadn't. The food was edible and acceptable for a restaurant dish but it certainly lacked flavor, presentation and overall taste. The potatoes felt like they were stone cold frozen and reheated in the microwave. The hollandaise sauce tasted very plain and the biscuit lacked salt and flavor. I was able to eat it as I mixed everything together but man do they need to work on their dishes. 2) Drinks: We wanted to treat ourselves to a nice drink so we ordered the Bellini. For $13 you'd expect them to put some kind of garnish like fruit or something inside but the drink I ordered did NOT match up to the price, same as the food. I would not recommend that drink. I could have made it myself at home ten times better then that drink. 3) Service: As soon as I walked in I was asked "can I help you m'am?" Which is pretty unprofessional. As a hostess or whoever is greeting needs to be more friendly and welcoming, and not looking as if they have a plane to catch or I'm a customer shopping at the mall. Ugh it did not leave the best impression. The waiter was also not very chatty, which is fine, he seemed like he just wanted to do his job and that's that. I did appreciate them checking in on us if we needed anything but maybe a bit too much as the point where a staff member almost took my friends half eaten plate when she wasn't even finished. So all in all, I'd say do yourself a favor and go eat somewhere else on Castro and save yourself an "acceptance restaurant experience". Maybe it was the type of dish I ordered and the chef was having an off day, but I am not planning to go back there to find out anytime soon.

Yelp
Came here to celebrate an early Mother's Day ahead of the rush. We had a lovely brunch here at 10 am and were seated quickly as it was not crowded yet. We ordered the lemon ricotta pancakes and an omelette. The lemon ricotta pancakes were pretty good although they tasted more on the wheat-y side. The lemon custard was SO delicious and really made that dish. The pancakes were topped with fresh berries and pineapples (One of our raspberries had mold..) We chose the omelette to have mushroom, bacon, and avocado. Was a little surprised to see the avocado garnished on top of the omelette rather than cooked in. The mushroom was good and there was an abundance of chopped bacon. I do wish the filling was cooked into the egg more, as opposed to a burrito-like wrapping. Appreciated the ketchup and hot sauce poured out for the omelette rather than bottles. The strawberry jam on the English muffin was pretty good. Hash browns were a bit soggy inside. Overall we had a good Sunday brunch here. Would be interested to try other menu items next time. Service was excellent and attentive. Recommend making a reservation ahead of time since they do get busy.

Yelp
Met friends for brunch and the food was amazing (omelet), coffee super good quality, and the service was spot on. We sat outside on a lovely day and it was just a very pleasant experience.

Jeremy M.

Yelp
We came with a group of 8. The restaurant was practically empty but it took 15 minutes to take our drink orders. It took 3 hours to be served dinner, and in that time I only got 2 drinks! One of the drinks I had to goto our waiter by the bar and requested it. The food was pretty good, I had fried chicken and corn bread, but not worth a 3 hour wait and only 2 drinks in the meantime. Personally, I would never dine here again.

Karen S.

Yelp
I have come here a number of times over the years . The food use to be really good but has significantly gone down hill . I came here for Thanksgiving lunch with my family and got food poisoning from the chicken liver pate which I am still struggling to recover from and had to go on antibiotics for . In addition my father and I ordered salmon and it was undercooked and we needed to send back . Very disappointed

James Y.

Yelp
I'm reviewing Scratch just based on the food served under a corporate function/event/dinner only. I am not reviewing Scratch based on the price point or service under normal and ordinary circumstances. I will just get this out of the way, the vibes in this restaurant was nice. Relaxing, but upbeat. With my disclaimer above, I thought the food was done pretty well considering there were three tables of approximately 20 people per table gathered for a 3 hour dinner service that included a salad starter, 3 different appetizers, 3 different main courses, and a classic creme brulee dessert. I thought the food was done well and actually exceeded my expectations. The Market Fish was nice and tender, the Southern Fried Chicken was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, and the Grilled Prime Filet Steak was melt in our mouth well done. The Creme Brulee was tasty and done with the classic taste. I can't comment too much on the appetizers because I arrived a bit late, but the food was good!

Duke S.

Yelp
Dropped in for a recovery brunch after an am wrk out with the sis. She got the corned beef hash and I got the chicken and waffle. The food was timely and just as we ordered. And our server, Spencer was funny and engaging; in addition to being very polite and attentive. We sat outside and enjoyed the warm sun and cool breeze; not too close to any other party, and we were able to have comfortable conversation. Food was 8.7/10-service was 10/10--ambiance was 8.5/10

Ellen M.

Yelp
Great food, wonderful service, lovely atmosphere. Located on Castro Street in downtown Mountain View, Scratch is both welcoming and inviting. We shared the duck potstickers as an appetizer, then enjoyed the halibut, pork chop, scallops and short ribs entrees. All were presented with care and were delicious. The Saddleback Chardonnay was luscious. We heartily recommend this restaurant for a delicious meal.

Charlie F.

Yelp
Absolutely flavorless and awful food. Green beans tasted like butane. Aioli like air. Cornbread like yesterday's soggy cheerios heated into a warm mush. Avoid this overpriced place like the plague.

Kerith H.

Yelp
Comfort food, yes please!! We stopped by for brunch on a Saturday without any reservations and were promptly seated. We were given the choice of inside or outside even with my small dog. We opted for outside and were seated in a nice sunny enclosed back area where it was covered and had heating lamps. After being seated we were immediately brought water and even asked if we wanted a water bowl for the dog! They had special dog bowls!!! Our server was Fabian and he was super courteous and attentive. My son is a very picky eater and he was able to accommodate him and do plain chicken tenders and fries without hesitation. Since it was brunch, We also ordered both breakfast and lunch dishes to try: Traditional Eggs Benedict Side of bacon Fried Calamari Fish & Chips (sweet potato fries) Let me just start by saying everything we tasted was delicious! The food was brought out promptly and everything we ordered was accounted for and served wonderfully. The chicken tenders originally came out with their "hot" sauce which my son won't eat because he's so picky and Fabian immediately made it right and brought out a plain replacement without any issue! He left the plate so we also got to try it with the sauce (adults!) Which was very nice! The manager (Isaiah) also stopped by the table to make sure we were satisfied and the meal was delicious, which was very nice to see they cared enough to Introduce themselves and make sure we were satisfied. The restaurant has free 2 hr parking conveniently located in the back. We enjoyed the wonderful service and amazing food, we will definitely be back when we are in the area again!

Yelp
Unfortunately, scratch this place off your list. I don't like writing challenging reviews, but need to be honest about our experience. We were really looking forward to trying this place and were extremely disappointed. We made reservations through open table, but they were pretty empty at 7pm on a Saturday (should have been our first clue). Service was mediocre at best. Our waitress was nice, but was confused and couldn't answer a single question. The first person of our 5-person party started to order- they wanted a scratch burger and asked if they could add a fried egg to the burger. The waitress said I don't know - I will check and literally left for 5 minutes to check with the chef. Didn't allow us the opportunity to let her know the burger would be fine either way. I reluctantly asked for a side salad instead of fries, and she said she wasn't sure if they could do that. My meal ended up coming with a side salad and extra Caesar salad on the side... which was odd. The waitress that took over in the middle of the meal was great- hence the two stars. She was super nice and checked in a few times. Now the important part, the food review.... The food was not good and overpriced. No flavor and bland. We really wanted to like it, but it wasn't good. A few odd choices.... The calamari came with deep fried pimento olives... why? Maybe it was just an off night, but unfortunately, it was diner-quality food for 2-3x the price. Or maybe this is truly a great brunch spot, that isn't good for dinner. Either way, not a good experience.

Devi K.

Yelp
Service - 2* Corn soup - 1* Caesar salad - 0* Crab cake - 4* Mac and cheese - 3* Ricotta pancakes - 2* Truffle fries - 4* Decor - 1* From another day: Mushroom & truffle flatbread - 5* The corn soup was too thick. It took way too long to bring us fresh pepper. The Caesar salad was not listed as including fish, but it did AND it wasnt any good. The lemon ricotta pancakes weren't lemony enough or fluffy enough. The fruits on top of it were wet and warm :(. The crab cake appetizer and side of truffle fries were the best things we had today. The Mac and cheese was decent. I've had the truffle mushroom flatbread before as takeout and that was very good. Decor is very blah and belies the modern cool exterior. I'd give this one a pass.

Philip J.

Yelp
Went here for dinner with co-workers. Overall good portions and great tasting food. The fried chicken was juicy and crispy. The short ribs were juicy and tender. Good place and atmosphere overall.

Mitzi T.

Yelp
Came here for a casual night out to celebrate my mother's birthday. Based on the ratings, I wasn't expecting much, but was pleasantly surprised! The servers were extremely accommodating and attentive without being intrusive. I think we had a total of three or four staff paying attention to our small group of 6. The food was also tasty. Out of everything our table ordered, I can vouch that the oysters, calamari, crab cakes, bbq chicken (super tender and tasty!) short ribs, crème brûlée and cheesecake were all very delicious and didn't disappoint.

Christina L.

Yelp
We came here for team dinner with about 10ppl. The staff was friendly and attentive. We ordered some appetizers to share: calamari, pork belly, crab cakes and fried chicken. I got the shrimp linguini for the entree and overall everything was delicious. It was a good time and I recommend scratch for big group dinners. No outdoor dining option at this time.

Uerica W.

Yelp
This place has really gone downhill in terms of food quality. The bread tasted stale, and the appetizers and salad were also underwhelming. We haven't been back in a while, but we were disappointed to find that the quality has decreased.

Jasmine G.

Yelp
Wonderful experience! Food was great, cocktails were delicious! The food and service are consistently great.

Gareeyasee S.

Yelp
Ambiance and service were top notch. We felt taken care of. The drink menu is quite good too with a nice collection of wines. We ordered the Baby Back Ribs and the Crab Cakes and they were both very well prepared. The portion sizes left more to be desired however. Overall, a great dinner spot.

sandra h.

Yelp
Drinks and oysters were good, but everything else was so salty. I attempted to eat my scallops, but even after scraping spices, it didn't help. The veggies were less seasoned and maybe that's why the scallops were salty, but alone was hard to swallow. This was a few months ago, so hopefully they fixed the dish since then.

Damion W.

Yelp
I put 4 because it wasn't quite five star... But it was REALLY good! We had the oysters We had the pork belly We had the brussel sprouts And for the meal... I was with a large group and everyone ordered something different. I had the opportunity to SMASH some of the rotisserie chicken and the buttermilk chicken... Which was damn good! I vote that crispy ass fried chicken gets #1 The bottom line is... Everyone loved their food! It was a little un-organized in the beginning... But at the end of the day... We got there! 4.5

Jen L.

Yelp
We were a party of 5 on a Tuesday night with reservations. There were many large parties dining so it looks like a nice venue for get togethers. We ordered my son's Grilled Cheese with Fries along with our appetizers which was great since they brought it all out at roughly the same time. His Grilled Cheese was gooey and he made me take a pic to show the cheese strings. He really liked the sandwich. For starters, we had Oysters, Tropical Ceviche, Grilled Artichokes, and Roasted Squash with Kale Salad. The oysters was a great way to start the meal with a little salt and brine, and horseradish with cocktail sauce to cleanse your palate. The Tropical Ceviche was a little too sweet for me though it was expected with the fruit combo. The Grilled Artichokes were yummy, and the salad was fresh and had the perfect amount of dressing. It was the right amount of appetizers to share. Two of us started with a Dirty Martini prepared with Hangar One Vodka. They were great in too. For entrees, we had the Short Ribs, Scallops, and Ahi Tuna. The Scallops was served with pickled red onions which at first wasn't sure how it would go with the spinach and curry sweet potatoes but all of the flavors melded well together. The scallops were cooked perfectly. I loved my dish. The tuna was also prepared perfectly, which was served with Quinoa and Carrots. Two parties really liked the Short Ribs. All the dishes had a nice presentation. We ended the night with an Apple Slab with Ice Cream and a Macadamia Nut Brownie Sundae. Both were yummy. Overall, we had nice meal. Our server was friendly but she didn't check on us much. The service from our server could've been slightly better. The rest of the staff was attentive and nice though. When we first ordered Sparkling Water, the server poured three full glasses and a little into the fourth glass and didn't say anything. Since she just left it, we asked for another bottle and she replied she knew and that it was coming. That was fine but it was just an odd start to the meal. Later, my husband wanted another glass of wine and he asked a person bussing our table if he could get our server for us. He actually took the order and the wine appeared which was nice. At another time, I had gone to the restroom when the server asked if we wanted another drink. My husband told her I did want another but didn't know what I wanted, so we expected her to come back but she didn't. A different busser at our table said he couldn't take my order because he had limited English skills, and he let another server know to come by but he wasn't our server so he didn't come by. It took a long while for our server to come close enough for us to wave her down. Then I hardly had to wait as she came back with my wine within a minute. Yay! I guess she saw I was waiting for my wine to finish my scallops.

Corina M.

Yelp
I was pleasantly surprised how delicious everything was!! I thought the food would be basic and you're just paying with the sophisticated, after work, business ambiance... but I was wrong!! The restaurant itself is extremely spacious. The bar, indoor seating and outdoor area is very well spaced out! This venue could easily be used to large corporate events and dinners, cute baby showers, birthday dinners, etc. The servers were polite and attentive. Now to the food- DELICIOUS!!! Seriously, even the basic Caesar salad was put together elegantly. The whole salty anchovy fish, shredded parm and the grilled chicken was juicy and cooked perfectly!! Oysters Rockefeller were delicious; highly recommend!! I was super happy with the creamed corn and it was a nice accompaniment to our meal. My friend's pork belly was delicious too and the biscuit it came with was very good. Crisp on the outside and soft and buttery on the inside. Seriously, highly recommend coming here!! Obviously, perfect setting for a business lunch/dinner... but also great for a date night or girls night. **Id say $50-$100/pp with a full meal, champagne and after dinner drinks!

Vivian E.

Yelp
I visited this restaurant for Christmas dinner with high expectations, particularly for their special $70 roasted duck. Unfortunately, the dish was disappointing as it comprised only two tiny bones in duck drumsticks accompanied by undercooked rice and tough to chew. This did not align with the high-quality dining experience I anticipated. In my experience with other establishments, duck is commonly served as breast meat. Additionally, I found it necessary to request a steak knife, as an appropriate utensil for the duck was not provided. On a positive note, the wine selection was commendable, and the oysters were fresh and flavorful. The dessert was a delight as well. Despite these high points, the main course significantly detracted from the overall experience, making my $130 meal feel lackluster compared to others I've enjoyed and wish I had my Christmas dinner elsewhere.

James H.

Yelp
The menu looks nice and lots of choices but the food could've been better. Originally went in for happy hour but they don't offer anymore. The steak sandwich looked good on menu but when received it was aright. The flavors are good but the presentation and portion were not good. For the price of $24 was expecting more, it's about soze of a half sandwhich. The side salad was very oily. Same with the lobster roll, was expecting a bit more. The service was decent. One of the staff was putting on his tie in the bar area, probably should do that in the restroom.

Steve P.

Yelp
Drinks: Lemongrass Martini was delightful, as was my wife's non-alcoholic Pomegranate Mojito. Starters: Clam chowder was just ok, and severely marred by being covered by home-made oyster crackers, which only made it harder to enjoy the soup. Should be served on the side! Main course: We both had lobster rolls which were fabulous. Stuffed with lobster in a roll which, unlike many (I'm looking at you, Sam's Chowder House!), could actually stand up to the contents through the entire eating. Note that it comes with mayonnaise, but my wife prefers melted butter instead, and they had no problem accommodating that request. The accompanying fries were good (though no competition for Five Guys, but then, what is?). Service and ambiance: Professional. Note that the booths (where we sat) seem low compared to the tables. Short people might be better off at a table.

Tsuki W.

Yelp
We've eaten here perhaps 6 times this last year and really appreciate the friendly, attentive service and consistently good food. There are some options for my vegan and gluten free friends, too.

C C.

Yelp
Very disappointed with service and some of the entrees served to us during a birthday celebration. I had such high hopes as this restaurant was recommended by a good friend. I won't be returning.

Chunichi C.

Yelp
I visited Scratch for brunch and it was absolutely perfect!!! It's in such a cute area and the ambiance is so chic. Fabian was our server and he was awesome! He was super friendly, responsive, and knowledgable. The food was just as amazing as everything else! I ordered the Corned Beef Hash, Waffle and Fruit. I was sooo excited about the Corn Beef Hash that I failed to take a picture!

Carmen V.

Yelp
I went for a business dinner last week while in Mountain View and we were served pretty fast for a large group. Everything was super delicious. I had the filet mignon and the meat was perfect as I requested, plus the green beans were super tasty. The appetizers we shared were fancy looking and deliciously tasting, and the same with the wines we shared. We had vegetarians in the group and tend to be picky...no pickyness this time, everyone was very pleased and I cannot believe I lived 8 years in the Bay Area and never went before thinking was a boring sports bar! My only suggestion is the palette of colors in the restaurant is kind of boring and sombre. Browns does not bring appetite or sense of joy. The atmosphere inside looks classy but predictable beige-brown (that is why the photos do not look that great, in my opinion;)

Yelp
Let's Scratch my first review from 2019 because yesterday I had a wonderful experience at the restaurant! I found the best Margarita drink I've had -- good amount of Tequila with the right amount of lime and a hint if spice! Plus the sumptuous Truffle Mushroom Flatbread and the uniquely light take on Ceviche. It was indeed an appetizing meal! I went here for a pre-dinner drink and ended up feeling full and satisfied. It was a good first indoor dining experience this year, with social distancing and capacity limitation implemented.

Yelp
Sunday Brunch is the bomb! I had a Perfect Bloody Mary paired with a heavenly Crab Cake Brioche. Try the blueberry muffin side! Yikes, Amazing!! Service was perfect! This is my new favorite brunch spot!

Yelp
Went for brunch and it was a great place to meet a friend with a few cocktails. The waiters were very attentive and on top of it. I was surprised how big the place is. It was a perfect place for a casual dining experience with good food and drinks

Yelp
New head chef is doing great work! Absolutely recommend the scallops entree - best we have had. Filet was outstanding. Portions will not fill you up and the richness of the garnishes left us very satisfied. Excellent desserts and a solid wine selection; price is appropriate for the quality and service. Not a lot of places in Mountain View offering this kind of menu, and well worth visiting to show your support.

Yelp
What an interesting place?! I haven't been here in a very VERY long time... Walked in with my friends around 6pm on a Friday night, not busy at all, we sat outside. Lots of heat lamps (yay!). Inside the restaurant had a few groups and outside few groups a well. We wondered why this place is so empty. Well, now I know, I didn't know what to order, we shared the calamari, it has fried green olives in there (interesting), a slice of fried lemon and fried something else, and the calamari, the sauce was good. I ordered the hot fried chicken tenders and truffle fries as my meal. The hot fried chicken tender was super red but it was not spicy to me, maybe to some people it would be. The pieces of chicken were cut into small slivers and they fried it, it looked like a theme park chicken tender cut into 4 pieces lol. Here is what my friends ordered: The burger (it was ok), the steak sandwich (the toast was toasted perfectly) The a piece of steak - looked like they flattened the steak and then grilled it to fit into a regular size two slices of white bread. The fried chicken - my friend said it was ok, not great. And the kids chicken tenders - looked like mine but without the red sauce all over it and on a bed of fries - he didn't care for the sauce that came with it. (Sad tenders and I love chicken tenders) Anyways, service was ok, a little slow. Overall, I won't be returning, there was no vibe, the restaurant seems sad and simple for a place that looks so nice from the outside. This place has potential to be more but it was not impressive. We had to go redeem our food by getting dessert somewhere else and that dessert made it all better! Haha

Yelp
The food was excellence, great ambiance and the waiter and manager very friendly. They will make any type of drinks how you may like it and they will offer another alternative. Great lil gem.

Yelp
Open for dining or outdoor dining as well and although the rest of downtown Mountain View seems to be closed, I like the way they close down the Castro and made it available for the outdoor diners! It's beautiful to walk around in and there's a lot of trees so even though it's 82° outside, there's a lot of shade! We dined in today and surprisingly they were at least 10 other guess sitting inside. Although it's a little dark from the outside, our server was very friendly and had a witty personality! We split both our plates and we're full, but not to the point of a food coma! Delicious Lee full and were able to walk to their downtown Mountain View Farmers' market once we finished our brunch! Perfect Sunday afternoon!! We'll be back!

Yelp
The food was okay, nothing stood out and offered a reason to come back. It was lackluster at best.
