I'm updating my review due to the experience we had last Saturday night. I am removing one star, something I've never done before.
We invited two other couples to join us for dinner on my birthday. I would normally choose something a little more upscale for a birthday dinner, but really wanted our friends to try their wonderful pizza.
Unfortunately, last Saturday, there was a major downpour when we arrived we were seated indoors, which, at this time of the year (July) in Florida is almost always appropriate.
On this night, not only was there a guitar player, but also a sax. I love sax music, but not amplified in a small, crowded room. We politely asked the waiter, and then any employee who happened to be nearby, to please ask the musicians to turn down or turn off their amps! We had to repeat the question, since it was too loud in the room for them to hear us. They did finally give us an understanding nod, but never did anything about the volume.
At some point, being frustrated and embarrassed for recommending this restaurant to our friends, I gave up being nice. When we asked the management of the restaurant to tone down the music so we could hear each other..or even hear ourselves think, they couldn't ear us! What does that tell you. We seriously discussed setting up a group text at our table, so we could communicate. We are our pizza and got out of there as quickly as possible. What an experience!
In the future, since I love their pizza, I will only go there when there is NO MUSIC playing. In the past, when they had a musician playing, we ate outside. They kept the door open, so we could hear the music AND each other. It was monsooning out, so that was not an option...
Luckily, we had plans to have dessert at our house, so we could have a conversation with our friends before we went our separate ways. That saved our lovely evening with friends, celebrating my birthday!
