Sea Boil Crab House

We got great service and the food was excellent. My wife got a bag and I got a half dozen large crabs. We also got a couple extra corn for the bag for me to eat. Love the corn. Crabs were big and perfectly seasoned. I really love the fact that this place is convenient to get to, which makes up for a less than perfect atmosphere. Restroom was very clean on this visit.

I am a regular at sea boil crab house on Richmond Highway and tonight I have had by far the worst customer service experience I have ever had in the past 6 years that I have been visiting this establishment. To start, the server was less than attentive to our table and the restaurant wasn’t even that busy. But to make matters worse, after we had paid and were about to leave I asked a group of servers who were standing next to the register for a box because I did not see our server. This group was just standing around not attending to other customer or tables and not doing any work whatsoever. I later found out that this group was not just servers but also included a manager named Morgan who instead of her or another nearby server getting me, a paying customer, a box, she made us wait while she went to go find our server. Our server returned a few minutes later to ask us what we needed and I proceeded to ask again for a carry out container since it was obvious at that point that Morgan had not even bothered to tell her what we needed in the first place. Getting a customer a box is definitely a task that Morgan and the other servers could have accomplished instead of making us wait until our server was available. Customer service is a team effort and both Morgan the other servers should understand that going forward. Furthermore, when I addressed this issue with Morgan the manager, she caught an attitude, rolled her eyes and gave a snarky response. This type of service is totally unacceptable and the way the staff treats their customers surely needs to be examined if you all want to retain your loyal customers. I rarely write reviews but this poor display of professionalism and service could not go unaddressed. I sincerely hope changes are made in the future.

Our server, Shanita, was absolutely the best server anyone can ask for! She recommended a certain clam over another due to the season, refilled our sodas without promoting, and she recognized that half of my buddy's clams didn't open so she threw them away and give him a fresh batch!! Shanita was so pleasant and friendly that i thought she was one of the owners. I'd come back just for her service anytime.

The food was delicious and the customer service was top notch… I look forward to making a return visit with more family. The Blue crabs were great and we were able to get the seafood boil sauce on the side to dip the crab meat into and that was awesome 🤩. The crab was already delicious by itself and then that boil sauce kicked it up a notch. The calamari was good. Everything was so tasty and the music was great.

It's a good place for sea boils, including crab legs, mussels, lobster, clams, shrimp, and crawfish. The seasoning can be salty, but it's a decent sea boil overall. We tried raw oysters, and they were fresh and reasonably priced. Service can be improved for a better overall dining experience.

EVERYTHING about this experience was amazing. My cousins and I had our first cousins day out and had an awesome time! The service was outstanding, but we felt like our waitress got a little overwhelmed as there were 18 of us. The food was out of this world and no disappointments.

I haven't eaten here to rate their food but the service and aura of this place is sickening. Whoever the host was yesterday on Mother's day needs customer service training and critical thinking courses. (Whole face, lash and wardrobe makeover but that's her business ) She has no humanity no soul. I have NEVER in my life heard or seen someone talk to potential customers that. It's one thing to say you've reached full capacity and that there's an hour wait, but to say you prioritize another big party was unnecessary darling if you're reading this. Treat people better your life won't be so horrible. Why are you so angry and biased? Childhood trauma? Bullying is so 1980. Take your meds or find another fitting 'job' if being a host overwhelms you. To the owner you lost so much money yesterday unnecessarily .

I ordered take out and unfortunately realized my entire order was wrong when I arrived home. I called to speak with the manager. Morgan “acting manager “ was so rude and unprofessional. I tried to explain the situation with me returning to the store to correct the issue, she abruptly interrupted me to tell me that she had been up since 6am and that her dad was dead on Father’s Day she was mad at the world obviously and proceeded to hang up. There are many options for counseling and trauma dumping and being rude to paying customers will certainly hinder patronizing customers from returning. GET HELP

Excellent service as well as the food. Dined there twice now. Consistent. Music is a bit loud. They turned down the volume when I asked.

Food (4 stars): we ordered crab legs, shrimp and crawfish. I would comeback and get this again. Service (1 star for our waitress but 5 stars for the other waitress): our waitress was not attentive at all. After she brought us our order, she came back once because we asked for a nut cracker but never returned with it. More than 5 minutes later, I think she finally remembered and sent the other waitress to do her work. The same with our drinks, she did not return with any refills. I had to ask the other waitress (who said she will let our waitress know), our waitress never came with our drinks. After we were almost done eating, I had to ask the other waitress again and she finally got us our drinks (thank you!). Unless you get the other waitress, I would order take out instead. Ambiance (3 stars): nothing fancy and would not be surprised if it fails any health code violations.

Maybe it was a slow day but some of the seafood didn't taste fresh. The fries were good however. I am willing to give them a tree if I'm in the area again.

Great place to catch up with a friend. At least that's what I did. Ambiance - Don't expect grass walls and flower vine ceilings. This place is exactly what it should be to serve good seafood. Not anything over the top. But everything it needs to be. Food - Yummy! I've been to a good amount of seafood boil spots. This is the ONLY one that offered lobster tails so, I had to partake. And you can add sausage and hard boiled eggs to any seafood bag. Service - Great service! Our server was friendly and smiled every time she came to our table. We were greeted immediately upon entering and told to have a good evening when we left. Overall, I highly recommend it. You're not going to get those Instagrammable pictures for your feed, but you will eat well!

Ambiance: Quaint. Family friendly. Sports and unassuming bar. Spacious and a great set up with all the tools you need to eat comfortably. Service: Welcoming from the front door. The ladies at the front sat me down expeditiously! Checked on me several time during my dining experience. I had Brianna serving me today 9/2/23 and she was phenomenal. Everything I needed she was there and executed flawlessly, including dish soap which save my shirt from a oily catastrophe lol. She was super sweet and attentive. Food: Everything a crab boils should make you feel--happiness,satisfaction, and nostalgia. I had the B special with the snow crab legs, shrimp, potato, corn, and sausage. Also did the mild sauces special, which is combination of Cajun, lemon, butter, garlic, and heat. Yummmm! All this goodness paired with a light brew sent my taste buds for a ride. I'll be back!

My family and I have been going to this place since they opened their doors. It's definitely the spot to go to for the best sea broil. No matter what time of day we go they always serve the best food. The staff is always very nice and makes sure you have everything you need.

What an amazing experience! All the delicious sea food without the ocean. We came in on a Friday night and we're greeted immediately. There were about 5 family's/groups inside already. We got to pick out our table and got menus and drinks immediately. My father was in town and always requires seafood. This was a new place for us all but the menu did not disappoint. My husband does not do seafood so we made sure they had something for him. They had wings and tenders. He opted for the wings because of the reviews and they were awesome. The outside was super crispy but the inside was juicy instead of dry. The Cajun seasoning didn't seem to come through but they were still awesome with the hush puppies! My dad and I had the combo sea boil bag. We got so much shrimp and crab! The garlic and butter season was awesome and as soon as you opened the bag the smell permeated the entire room. We got corn, potatoes and sausage as well. We could have probably split a one pound bag! My daughter got the fried shrimp basket. The breading was so good and the shrimp was large and fresh. She got so much she took most home and had seasoned fries with it. The shrimp didn't have the heat which was nice because she sometimes complains of spice. There were no complaints. The prices were on par. The sodas were a few bucks cheaper than every other restaurant around and refills free. We ate right off the table and bag and it was a fun experience for all. We will return!!!

This is usually my go to spot for boils!(has crafty crab beat and it's not even close). However my order tonight has made me never want to return. I ordered takeout online service was up to par with my estimated pick up time. They gave me a great amount of seafood for the price I paid per usual But, one of the corns in my bag tasted spoiled! I immediately spit it out. I was so shocked because the food from here always tastes fresh. The rest of the food was amazing though. Fast forward to now it's 2:40am I've been awaken out my sleep from unbearable tummy pains. Guess the rest of the food was bad too? Because now I feel sick. Hate to leave this review because I really liked this spot.

Came here based on a coworker recondition. The place is a good-sized restaurant with a full bar. They're family friendly and there was a good crowd for a Thursday night. I order take out through their online ordering service, which was pretty easy. I got the catfish basket with fries, and one pound of the sausage. The catfish was delicious the right amount of batter and a slight spiciness. The sausage was good too, but I realized that one pound was a bit too much. That's fine, plenty of leftovers. I would definitely go back and othe dishes.

I really love this place. The flavors for the Sea boil seasoning is so good! I noticed the prices went up ten dollars though. A dined with a friend and all I can say is the minute we left out the restaurant our stomachs were bubbling and we both became extremely sick. This is the second time this happening and I feel Like it can't be a coincidence. She had explosive you know what while simultaneously throwing up and I had the bubble guts all Night and into the morning. Not sure if it's a freshness issue or someone isn't properly washing their hands or equipment. I honestly want to know because flavor wise this place is definitely a hidden gem all bubble Guts aside!!

Pretty good. I would go back. My only issue is that there is No kid friendly menu. The sides did not add up to a choosable item to feed small kids.

So I first went to a sea boil down in VA beach area and it was awesome. This place is good too but lacking in some areas. At the other location the soft shell crab basket was awesome. Here it sucked. And I mean sucked. It was mostly just sections of the thin legs... I would never order it here again. The crawfish in the house sauce are very good tho. I'll return for them. But the soft shell crab basket has me worried about ordering another basket of anything else.

We went here on a Sunday night because I always try to get Blue Crab when I am in the DC area. They only had L and XL Blue Crabs, so I went with the L. They were very tasty. My SO was originally planning on doing the 12 oz snow crab and 1 lb shrimp seafood boil, but I convinced him to change to the 1 lb of each snow crab, shrimp and crawfish boil so that I could have some of the crawfish. Go for the boil. The Blue Crab was tasty, but not worth the money compared to the boil. Things that were weird: No silverware only plasticware. I needed to ask for a mallet. They only brought 1 crab cracker for the 2 of us. I had to ask for something to dip the blue crab in (I went with vinegar) I wish there had been an option to put 1 or 2 blue crabs into a boil.

Had a pretty good experience my first time coming here but I can't say the same about the second time around. The menu stated they had catfish/whiting so I asked the waitress to clarify if they in fact were serving catfish or whiting and she assured me it was catfish. I ordered it and once I received my food it was CLEARLY whiting. In addition to this, I took my toddler to use the restroom and it was locked so waited for a bit. Turns out the employees locked it from the inside so they could use it as their personal restroom but there was no sign or anything letting people know. It was a bit frustrating because I was waiting.

Arrived and it took a bit to get seated, but Brianna came to the table in a timely manner and took our order. The place needs some updating, but isn't crazy bad. The bathrooms are gross. The women's bathroom has 2 stalls but only one working toilet. There's a lack of care among the staff on service. Brianna seems to be the only waitress caring enough to keep going. The food is great. They need a better waitstaff. I want to give 4 stars for the food and 2 stars for the cleanliness and staff. So going with 3 stars.

Food was not fresh, overpriced, overcooked a rip off. Expensive for no food you get one Crab leg one potato and one corn. Unprofessional workers.

Food was really good and comes out piping hot. Service was really good Zakyia did very well as bartender and server. Ambience very basic which was good for the type of restaurant family style get your portion eat and and move on, me and my friend really enjoyed this place.

Went here about the same time last year and was awful this time around. Food wasn't as good, service was terrible, hair in drinks and UNWASHED silverware. Never going back

Do not come here if you are coming to get the special offer of 2 doz crabs for $55. The never have them. It applies only to the smallest male crabs. NO SUBSTITUTION! The real prices are much higher $50 for 6 large crabs. Large crabs at Capital Crab just up the road are $40/doz. Crab legs (think Alaska) are frozen.

Everything was great, except one thing..... It was our first visit. There were 4 of us, we ordered: raw oysters, hush puppies, onion rings, shrimp/crab boil, lobster boil, fried oyster basket, and fried shrimp basket. (Plus wine and beer.) The food was tasty and served hot. Our only issue was the server was not familiar with the food/menu. They couldn't explain the how the boils worked, nor describe the food. For example, we ordered lobster boil with garlic butter and then were asked what spice level??? We said no spice just garlic butter... yet the order came out "spicy", which ruined the meal for the person who ordered it. Also asked if the lobster was Maine lobster and got a noncommittal "yes". It did not taste like Maine lobster. If every boil has some spice that's fine, but the server should have said that and we would have ordered something else.

The food was good. Service was horrible. Little girl Yelled out to her manager how she didn't have time for an issue that wasn't reality. Caused a scene then manager tried to blame me for their employees unprofessional conduct. Hire adults and not kids. Also witnessed other customers expressing disappointment and dissatisfaction

So I stopped in to snag a quick snack, and for the most part, I thought my fried shrimp was very tasty. My side of corn on the cob was pretty good, but it could've been a better warmer. However, I really appreciated the medley of sauces that came with the shrimp On the whole, the food was solid here, but the atmosphere was just not what I expected. They didn't have bar service and the restaurant set up seemed to speak more of an all-you-can eat joint, rather than a spot where you might kick back. Of course, there is nothing wrong with this.. just not what I expected. I do understand that the seafood boils are supposed to be awesome, so I'll have to return and give that a try.

Ordered takeout for 7 people dinner. Spicy shrimp, mussels, crab legs. It was delish and was delivered right on time. I keep thinking about the wonderful shrimp altho everything was good. Everyone had plenty to eat and no work for me.

Very good meal the other night. I actually had two orders of fried oysters that were wonderful and my friend had the king crab legs which she loved. It was kind of quiet in there, but the food was great.

Friends were visiting us and wanted seafood that wasn't fried. Lots of seafood restaurants on Yelp with 4 star ratings in this area, but nothing with 5 stars. Noticed this restaurant because of the word, boil. Everyone was willing to give this place a visit. It ended up being a good decision. My wife and I ordered fried calamari, a pound of lobster and the jumbo crab cake basket. The fried calamari had a thick coating that was crunchy. Too crunchy! The taste was alright, but it overpowered the calamari. The calamari was somewhat tender with a weak flavor. Wouldn't get it again because it's too pricey for the mediocre quality. The lobster was a Sea Boil dish. It came with 2 lobster tails, a small potato and a cob of corn. You have to pick a seasoning: cajun, lemon pepper, garlic butter or Sea Boil special cajun. Then you pick a spice level: mild, medium, spicy or extra spicy. Those 2 choices are put in a plastic bag with the food. It is then boiled. They serve the bag to you at your table. You have to cut it open yourself. The aroma and flavor of the Sea Boil special cajun seasoning were excellent. It complemented the lobster beautifully with a balanced flavor of salt, herbs and spices. It tasted like cajun seasoning with cumin. We picked medium spice level. It was just right. The lobster tails were a good size, but rather flat. The server said that the 2 tails weighed one pound. I'm not so sure about that. The price was relatively low for what you got, so who cares. They were tasty and cooked perfectly tender. The potato and corn were typical . The jumbo crab cake basket came with 2 crab cakes and a side. We picked onion rings. The server told us that there was lump crabmeat in the crab cakes. Not really. It was backfin and some broken lump crabmeat with filler. The taste was good, but nowhere near a crab cake made from whole lump crabmeat with no filler. This dish was a good value because you get 2 big crab cakes (about 8 ounces each) and plenty of side dish for about the same price as a high quality lump crab cake (6 ounce) sandwich somewhere else. The onion rings were cut thick and heavily coated with a batter that fell off easily. Loved the thick cut, hated the batter. The onions were fiberous which made it hard to get a clean bite and the batter was too thick. It tasted alright though. Our friends got the same food as us except they got the lobster with garlic butter seasoning. We shared the calamari. Their opinion was pretty much the same as ours. The restaurant was old but relatively well-kept. The restrooms were also dated but clean. Our server was polite, helpful and attentive. Employees were wearing masks, but not gloves. No hand sanitizer visible for customers. Customers were spaced at least 6 feet apart. There were 3 dining areas. Most of the food was good tasting and reasonably priced. We would come here again for the Sea Boil dishes.

I've only dined in once and ordered the seafood platters. Probably one of the worst I've ever had, my sister and I agreed that they should stick to steamed crabs. The seafood had an old taste and too much batter for fried shrimp or anything for that matter. We had the most expensive hush puppies ever. They were actually pretty good. It may have been an off day so don't take my word, give them a try!

I'd been craving fried shrimp for weeks before I stumbled upon this restaurant. I was even more excited to discover that they also sell fried catfish. And OMG, they did not disappoint. The shrimp and fish were both seasoned well and the portions for both items, but especially the fish, were perfection! I'll definitely be back.

This place is so good I've been back twice since my initial visit lol. Do not judge a book by its cover! This place has good service and even better food. They have a full bar if that's your thing too. And an outside patio. But back to the food...the fish is sooooo good. It tastes fresh and delicious and let's not forget the tartar sauce...so freaking good! I enjoyed the fried shrimp as well. The boil was even better...this place is just as good as hot and juicy! Do not miss the chance to try this place. The only con...don't get the crab cake...save yourself. I did not like it at all but that is ok Bc everything else was too notch' I'll be back on my next cheat day!

Omg I'm so happy I came here tonight to try this place!!! First, the young lady that was my server was super friendly and nice. I told her it was my first time dining here and she took the time to explain the menu. I ordered 1 lb of the snow crabs that came with 2 large clusters and 1 potato and 1 corn. I am simple when it comes to seafood so I appreciated that they accommodated me by only putting old bay seasoning in my crab boil. And it was perfect and D-E-L-I-S-H! I have been to another crab boil place and by far this is the best because of their food but their friendly staff too. The inside of the restaurant was nice and loved that they played music and had TVs everywhere. They are located off of Rt. 1 that is next to a Shell gas station. They have surface parking but it is limited. I am def coming back and so excited that now I can come here whenever I'm craving crabs! Update***I now order the green mussels with their special Cajun seasoning, medium spice!!! #ThankYouThursday

Food was horrible, greasy all over the place, the ambiance is like a restaurant stuck in the 80's and the service was super slow

First of all the staff were the nicest people ever. I left a great tip. However, the restaurant is not that clean, and the AC does not work bc they leave the back door open, which brings in flys, and the food was mediocre. Most of the snow crab legs had minimal meat, which makes me believe they were not fresh. It was my first time dining there, and the only reason I would return is because of the excellent customer service on a cool day. Also, they did not give me utensils for my crab legs, I had to ask twice, and no wet naps were offered. Let's be a little preemptive, when you set down for a boil... certain things should be given to you.

Oh my, what a delicious if messy experience! Can't wait to go again. I loved that you can order different flavors and spice levels, so everyone can get what they want.

I came here because my car was getting serviced across the street. I wasn't expecting anything special, but ended up having one of the best meals I can remember having in a long while. The hostess followed all Covid protocols and gave me the perfect recommendation for my meal. The bartender/server was pleasant and made a great drink. The atmosphere is perfect sea side crab shack chic, right there on the side of route one in an unobtrusive white building. Do not let this easy going crab shack pass you buy. Thanks to the staff for making what was to be a boring afternoon into one very much worthwhile. Shout out to Tonishia and Shanita, thank you both for going above and beyond.

My family and I ordered from here a lot over the last few years but quality isn't the same anymore and the front staff are rude. I asked to speak to the manager and either the girl who rung me up lied that the manager is not there or the Shanita lied about being the manager.

Valentine's dinner 2019 - our first dinner as a married couple. We met some friends there. They beat us there and they ate at the bar. Great staff. Great food. Cool atmosphere. 8 seater bar area with really nice bartender-we hung out there until our table was ready. We were seated after about 15 minutes. Service was fast and efficient. I think we will be going back. My husband was really happy with his food.

I ate twice at this restaurant within a week. The first 2 pics are from when I ordered for pickup. It was all so delicious. I ate the 1 lb snow crab legs and a half lb of the shrimp the first night. I polished off the rest of the shrimp the next night. What I did with the leftover sauce I put over angel hair pasta. OMG!! The last 3 pics are from my second visit with a friend. We actually went there to eat on a Monday night when it would be less crowded. They took our temperature when we walked in which I thought was excellent. All the staff was wearing masks and I, of course, had to order something totally different. I got the lb of lobster tails (2) and lb of Alaskan King Crab (2 legs). I ordered the same sauce as before. Why mess with perfection? My friend ordered the same thing I got the week before but she asked for extra spicy Cajun. She loved it but I guess she was expecting hotter? Even though I ate all my seafood, I asked for another bag so I could take home my sauce so I could have more pasta. I can't wait to go back!! Oh, the calamari was excellent, too. And buried in those bags are a potato for every lb of seafood and part of a corn on the cob. The sauce just seasons it all deliciously.

We ordered a dozen X-Large make crabs and they were on the fair meaty part. The fries were very good. The Cajun garlic sauce was delicious. Service was fast and our server was friendly. The selection of food/ ambiance was good. Plenty of choices.

I must say, if you judge a book by its cover, you may never try this restaurant. The food and service were both excellent! Highly recommended.

A friend treated me and ordered the crab & shrimp boil & whiting dinner. Portions are generous & the food is fresh & cooked to perfection. I'm treating myself to Sea Bo every week honey! UNLESS YOU HAVE $30 TO THROW AWAY DO NOT ORDER THE CRAB CAKES THEY ARE NOT GOOD AT ALL

We had the crab, shrimp, sausage, corn and potato boil with the spicy garlic seasoning n butter sauce. Really good. Service was good. It was a quiet weekday evening. We ingested more butter than a person should at one sitting because it was that good. Be careful, it could take a day or two for your system to recover.

Though the food was mid, my waiter, Connor Mcmaster I believe, was absolutely the nicest young man I've ever come across during my time here in Virginia. Though he wore a helmet during his shift, a pretty one to say the least, he displayed shocking mannerism along with hasty service. Will most likely come back soon if that Connor boy will be working, splendid waiter indeed.
