"Tucked away in the shipyard southwest of downtown, Sea J’s is locally famous for one thing: crispy, tender fish and chips (though the burgers and milkshakes are popular too). For an old-school, hole-in-the-wall experience, there’s no place in Port Townsend quite like it." - Matthew Lombardi, Eater Staff

We were traveling in the area and decided to have lunch here. We ordered the family meal, if I recall, comes with 10 pieces of fish (halibut or cod, your choice), fries, homemade tartar sauce, coleslaw, lemon, and drinks (with free refill). We also added crab cakes and milkshakes to our order. As far as the costs go, the family meal was extremely cheap for $55 and it fed four of us. Everything in the family meal blew our minds with its deliciousness. The crab cakes had more breading and other fillings compared to crab meat. The milkshakes were really delicious. We are going to come back here for the clam next time. This was really an affordable place to eat at.

I see why you received Best Seafood on the Peninsula! It was fresh, with great portion sizes and delicious! The fries are fun shapes and tasty too! I would have given 5 stars if the place was cleaner and the front door was fixed, so it didn't slam every time someone opened it. The poor cook was working the whole restaurant by herself, but doing a great job.

the fish and chips were filling, great portions for the price. however, they are cash only which is a bit unfortunate as the food is not cheap. not a ton of room to dine-in, but it was cozy in the way only a food stall can be with "communal" tables (aka ask nicely if you can sit next to someone)

Really fun little spot right at the marina. Fish and chips were good and the hamburgers look amazing

I have only wrote about 3 restaurant reviews. It was so good, I just had to. My son ordered the hamburger. It was simply HUMONGOUS. really large burgers in the past from different restaurants, and from my experience, they often sacrifice flavor for size. This absolutely could not be farther from the truth, with this burger. It was built with three huge patties, totaling 1/2 lb (I think) each having different layers of cheese on them. At first we couldn’t tell it was separate patties. The the price for the size and flavors that you get is not much more than the nearby fast food places for their burgers. It’s not even close to being in the same league. The bun was fresh and soft. The job of holding everything together without falling apart, is a daunting feat that it conquered with ease. We are planning on getting another one for our 16ht drive back to Utah, and sharing it for lunch and dinner, lol. I had the Cod, Halibut and fry’s. Let be just be very real with you. Just order it!!! You can thank me later :D the fish was cooked to perfection and was not greasy at all. The milkshakes are made with hard serve ice cream, I opposed to the soft serve. This makes it challenging for the person making the milkshake and gives them one heck of an arm workout. Honestly, after the first bite, it simply makes you close your eyes and think back to a simpler time. Before we journey home, we will be coming back a few more times, to explore more of the menu. We can’t wait to bring the rest of our family back here next year. Till then I will be dreaming about all those flavors often. Thanks for your kind service you gave us as well. The business that your grandmother and family has created is something we will really remember for a long time to come. Vaughn Hoopes

Used to enjoy fish and chips at Sea Js for years. Nice sized cod, good crust and deep fried perfectly. I recently went there and placed looked the same but a little cleaner, less cluttered. There was 1 person working at the Cafe doing everything. I ordered the Seafood platter for around $21. It came with 2 battered, overcooked shrimp, overcooked battered clams, one limp fried Oyster and two pieces of battered fish that resembled fish sticks. It came with a side order of bland coleslaw and unusually shaped fries that weren't bad. Completely disappointed. It was the one placed that for me, presented great fish and chips. No more.

Love an old diner and this place has got that vibe for sure. Coffee is decent. Love the country music on the radio. Eats are cheap and yummy (like the pan-fried oysters). Loved the all-day breakfast option (and mini option too)-- the sausage gravy is delish. The sign board with its abundance of quotes and witticisms is great entertainment, but we hardly had a wait. Looking forward to coming back on a warmer day to eat outside: several tables plus a dockside pinic-tableish bar. Wait staff welcomed folks using rollators/wheelchairs. We see a few parking spaces out front and plenty of street parking.
