The Best Restaurants, Bars, and Cafes Near Cannon Beach, Oregon | Eater Portland

"Newly remodeled and still serving up some of the Oregon Coast’s best European-style breads and pastries, Sea Level Bakery makes traveling along busy Highway 101 a much more pleasant experience. Located in a cute little house on the south side of Cannon Beach, it’s worth an early-morning (as in 7 a.m.) drive for first dibs of the bakery’s ever-rotating selection of crispy, tender, carby goodness — everything from pain au chocolat to cookies and tarts. You’ll want to try some of the excellent coffee specialties made from Portland’s Heart Roasters with sustainably sourced beans. Even more climate-focused projects are in the works: the bakery received a federal grant in summer of 2024 to install solar panels for renewable energy." - Jennifer Burns Bright

Google
Nestled near the Tolavana beach, this cafe surprised us with their amazing coffee and pastries. We had their pistachio raspberry scone, orange bostock, acai bowl and also their mini yogurt granola bowl. The pastries tasted so divine and fresh. Will definitely come back here on our next visit to the Oregon coast.

Google
Small coffee shop about 3-4min walking distance from the Tolvana and Wayside inns. Indoor and outdoor seating available. Coffee and pastries. We ordered a mocha and a candied orange mocha. Very subpar notes of chocolate and orange in both beverages. I was hoping for a rich, chocolate mocha. The pastries were very tasty and appealed to the eye. They have merch, coffee beans, and other items available to purchase.

So busy but so good! Had to wait like 20 minutes for a drink but it is very high quality. The drinks are more bitter than sweet and the baked goods are next level. I love the old dino books to look at while you wait.

Google
A little gem on the south side of Cannon Beach. Coffee is great. Food is fresh and delicious. Bakery is small but the bread is wholesome and great with cheese for a beach lunch to go. We went two days in a row!

Google
Always busy, but worth it. Great coffee and fresh pastries. Perfect for a stop on the way to Cannon Beach. Parking is tricky, find it along the road. Seating is limited and mostly outside on the patio. If it’s cold or rainy, be prepared to be in the elements.

Google
Cute little coffee shops with good food. There was a considerable line when I went, but worth the wait. Nice vibes inside if you can find a seat, heated outdoor seating. The chocolate latte was superb. I should have bought some of the coffee because the espresso was mild and smooth. The dressing on the salad with the quiche was amazing. Will return if I'm in the area.

Google
1st, such a pretty and cozy place! 2nd, staff(cashier) was very friendly and so pretty! 3rd, WOW, their pastry and beverage are amazing!! We got their matcha and cappuccino and we loved it so much, we wanted to try a 3rd drink. This is the best cafe we’ve been to! Thank you! Joe & Sasha 🤍

Google
It’s so great to see all the renovations to this place. We first came here in 2022 and we were happy to come back! The drinks were good, especially the spiced chai. The bread pudding was nothing special but the other pastries look really good! We would definitely come back. Dog friendly!

Yelp
Got a latte 16oz quad shot latte which was very good. Greatly appreciate that there are alternatives to Starbucks roasted beans in the area. Also bought a 16oz quad shot maple bourbon latte, asked for it to have just a little syrup. It came out so sweet I couldn't taste the coffee, and when brought to the counter was told it was too expensive to be remade and was offered some steamed milk to add to it. Flavor of the *coffee is great, atmosphere is very nice, customer service is left wanting. I wish I had waited to leave a tip until tasting the drink / waiting to see what service was like.

Yelp
This spot was so relaxing and calm. The baristas and servers were so kind and welcoming. The food OMG delicious! We ordered the açaí bowl, salami sandwich, and sticky bun - all we impeccable! Honestly the best açaí bowl we've had. For coffee we got the iced vanilla latte and their seasonal maple bourbon latte. 10/10 all around.

Yelp
This was a cute coffee shop with decent food near our hotel. Staff were friendly enough and coffee was good. I did enjoy their menu items and it's very clean and modern inside with a lovely bathroom, some seating inside and a nice patio. The quiche was OK but wasn't super warm and wasn't especially savory or the best I've had. The Brie and apricot sandwich was OK but wouldn't get again. The açaí was the star of the show with loads of fresh veggie and only $7 bc they offer a full size and a mini. Not the best but certainly not the worst. Solid 3 stars feels right, maybe 3.5.

Yelp
If I walk in and see the barista using a WDT spinner, I know I'm in the right spot. For anyone looking for single-origin coffee, expertly extracted and served as it should be, Sea Level is hands down the best modern coffee shop in the Cannon Beach and Seaside area. They currently serve Heart coffee and offer a range of unique specialty drinks made with house-made ingredients, like the Maple Bourbon or Lavender lattes you'd expect to find at top-tier Portland cafes like Barista. This place delivers a top-notch coffee experience. Hopefully, the community supports them because they absolutely deserve it. Easy 5/5 recommendation.

Yelp
Another year to the coast, another visit to Sea Level. Boy, this place has been found by the masses - it was crowded. Line wrapped around the inside of the cafe out onto the patio. We got a couple americanos that were really good and my kids split a mango coconut drink that they like. I do miss the former, quaint shop that was just a small cottage with a fireplace, though it certainly has outgrown what it used to be. It's still a great place with tasty drinks and foods so I'll be back again next year.

Yelp
Love the spicy chai. Good chocolate orange latte. Everyone is so nice, very cute place

Yelp
Love this coffee shop. In fact it is probably the most impressive establishment in Cannon Beach in terms of high quality products and service. The espresso drinks are SO delicious here. There were long lines both of the days we went to Sea Level, and despite the crowd, the service was so effective. The barista was like a machine, just didn't stop! We also enjoyed acai bowls, yogurt parfaits, and several of their baked goods. All were very high quality and delicious. Would definitely come back!

Yelp
Great Maple bourbon latte, sticky bun, French ham & Brie sandwich. Clean with a nice aesthetic. Great outdoor seating area and also some indoor seating. Clean bathroom. There was a line to order but it went quickly. Everyone was friendly and food/ coffee was out quickly. Walkable to the beach! Wish we had time to stop back in- I would try the quiche!

Yelp
Across from where we were staying. Long lines move fast so don't be discouraged. PLUS long lines in this instance meant really great coffee!!
google avatar

Tawny M.

Yelp
Great coffee and homemade pastries. They are also open on Mondays which is so needed in Cannon Beach because it seems like all the other coffee shops are closed. They also have fresh bread and quiche. I wish they did offer a breakfast sandwich, the closest they have would be a jamon and Brie, which looked delicious. We had the quiche and pain au chocolate, both were excellent. They have limited seating inside, but a nice outdoor area with heaters. They do get pretty busy, so get there early!

Yelp
Eh. Just okay. Pastry was really good. Matcha doesn't have a very good taste and the matcha is in a squeeze bottle lol. I asked them to remake my matcha and they made comments like "well we put the normal amount in there..." and didn't switch out and just added more matcha. Probably better off trying a different place in cannon beach. Staff was very dismissive and I wouldn't say they were friendly. It's just one of those trendy coffee shops with limited options, okay coffee and high prices in my opinion.

Yelp
Wow!!!!! What a gem!!! We stopped here on our way home from Seaside this weekend and I wish we had discovered it sooner. Excellent coffee - my partner and I both got the lavender rosemary latte with oat milk. The flavors are divine, the coffee is nice and smooth and just gorgeous overall. The cafe itself is suuuuch a cute vibe!! There was a line but it moved fast. The food looked so incredible but we'd already had breakfast so we'll have to try it next time we're in the area. We did get a couple of pastries that were phenomenal - a slice of banana bread, and a citrus matcha sweet roll. Highly recommend and can't wait to come back!

Yelp
We were looking forward to trying this spot after all the reviews. Unfortunately the iced maple bourbon latte was completely undrinkable. It had chunks of what I assume were gritty syrup throughout the entire drink which was super unpleasant coming up a straw. The açaí bowl had lots of fruit and was good. The toast was good but very light on jam. It seemed like they had a lot more pastries than were in the display case. If we had known they had some of those we probably would have tried them.

Yelp
A quaint coffee shop, great lattes and baked goods. Very minimal design on the inside and lattes are MTO in house

Catherine K.

Yelp
Best coffee shop in the area by far. The drip coffee is incredible. Smooth, velvety. I would travel here specifically for the focaccia- it was that good. The sticky buns are incredible also. The chai latte was the perfect balance of lightly sweet and spicy. To top it off, you can take all these delicious items and eat them with a view of the ocean.

Yelp
Stopped in twice while on vacation a few weeks ago and absolutely adored each encounter. The staff were incredibly friendly both times, my London fogs I ordered were absolutely lovely. They don't use a traditional black tea, they use a different tea (I'm so sorry, I forgot the name) and it worked perfectly. The sandwich I got as well was delicious (Jambon et Brie). I can't wait to come back when I'm back in Cannon beach in July.

Yelp
Nice coffee and bakery pastries. Quiche was tasty. Nice seating and ambience, very close to beach. Friendly staff.

Bob S.

Yelp
Been coming here for years and it's always excellent. Great coffee, pastries, and employees. A very friendly environment.

Sonia L.

Yelp
Amazing place. The spiced chai was so good. My husband loved the Jam and biscuit that we went back twice.
google avatar

Kim S.

Yelp
Tastiest coffee and pastries ever! Go here every time we stay at the coast! Good thing we don't live near by or we would go every day. Check their hours they aren't open every day
google avatar

Alan C.

Yelp
Loved this small bakery and cafe. The Kouign Amann was out of this world, flaky and buttery. Loved the 3 cheese biscuit.
google avatar

Yelp
Exquisite. Perfection. Delightful. There are quite a few bakeries and quite a few coffee houses in CB... this place does both, very well. Fresh breads and pastries that are divine. Crispy bread, flaky pastries, and coffee and Matchas done right. They take the time to execute everything perfectly. Yes, you're gonna wait, and it's gonna be worth it. Staff is friendly, and they keep the line moving, pumping out well made espresso, coffee, and Matchas. I've tried their matcha latte, their espresso, their baguettes, their 3 cheese biscuit (with yummy chives) their apple croissant thingy, a fresh berry danish, and some cookies. They also have a good selection of juices and smoothies as well as some made to order bowls and other food items. Love this place. I went there every single day I was in town, and every single day the drinks were perfectly made, and tasted great. They are consistent, which is key when it comes to making coffee, espresso, and matcha drinks. I have tried every coffee house in CB, This place is No. 1, hands down. End of story. Check them out.

Yelp
This place is amazing. Coffee was spot on. Pastries I loved. Crowded but worth the waiting time. It was a very cold morning but they had the heat set perfectly. We received great service and we would go back again when we visit Haystack rock. Thing to remember when it's busy, the entrance is to the left of the building. Thank you for the glass cup for my coffee . Yummy
google avatar

Maureen M.

Yelp
Yes, there was a line, but that's to be expected. I had the candied orange latte and the sweet roll with pecans. You can tell a good bakery by the number of locals coming in for a loaf of bread - or - to meet a friend for breakfast.
google avatar

Melody B.

Yelp
Amazing coffee, amazing ambiance, large pastry selection, and kind baristas! One of those places we stopped multiple times during our short time in canon beach!
google avatar

N B.

Yelp
Amazing food nice staff. Lovely cafe. The only negative was it wasn't open every day!
google avatar

Jeanne Z.

Yelp
Coffee is premium! The bread is delicious. And, the service is really chill and understanding even if they are busy with a long line. I loved the whole vibe there, and their design. I also like how they had different toasts, açaí bowls and other things beside focusing on pastries.
google avatar

Liz H.

Yelp
This is a must-stop for me every time I'm in Cannon Beach. They consistently serve excellent coffee, using noticeably high-quality ingredients, and the staff are genuinely friendly and welcoming. It's always a wonderful experience.
google avatar

Ben B.

Yelp
This place was heavily needed in Cannon. Unfortunately the food in this town is pretty awful. Sea Level is probably one of the few places I'd recommend. The bread is incredible. Check this spot out!
google avatar

Jarenn N.

Yelp
Yum! Loved my drink here, very aesthetic, friendly service. Inside seating options; there's a restroom, close to haystack rock
google avatar

Attie S.

Yelp
Best coffee in Cannon Beach. If you're a coffee snob like me, it's worth the work to get it here. Açaí granola is gorgeous and great.
google avatar

Michele S.

Yelp
This bakery is truly a culinary gem in a beach town that otherwise has your standard beach dining options. Fresh baked breads, artisanal pastries (with a nice focus on savory, which doesn't always get attention at bakeries) and crafted coffee drinks make this laid back shop special. It's on the main road, but about a mile away from the center of the tourist district. There is beach access right outside of the shop, but it is also a really nice spot to linger at, whether on the porch or one of the limited seats inside. Friendly counter service. Definitely my number one spot in Cannon Beach!
google avatar

Lisa L.

Yelp
Was looking forward to trying this cute coffee place, mixed results however. Arrived late morning, line wrapped outside to the front, so be prepared to wait 15 minutes or more. Staff was very nice and welcoming. The cold brew drink I got was terrible, lacking in flavor and the almond milk separated in my drink. Rather unpleasant to drink and couldn't bear to finish it. Sadly disappointed. However, the sticky bun I ordered was a highlight to offset the poor drink. It was delicious with a soft , fluffy interior with nice crisp, bottom edges. I may go back possibly to try regular coffee and definitely order more bakery items.
google avatar

Thea J.

Yelp
Yum! The Lavender, Rosemary Latte was phenomenal. I had this with a raspberry pistachio scone and it was absolutely delicious. We arrived early and there were elk and bunnies all over the area. This is a great spot to grab a coffee and head down to the beach.
google avatar

Shayne S.

Yelp
Sea level is an amazing coffee shop! So friendly and invinting. The pastries are out of this world! Had the chocolate croissant and the banana bread (can't be missed)! Both coffee and tea lattes I've had here are incredible. We also got the açaí bowl which was flavorful as well.

Christine J.

Yelp
I love this place. My favorite pastries ever on earth and their orange coffee. Divine!
google avatar

Jose M.

Yelp
Treats were nice. The service was okay. The ambiance was just right. I recommend this place.
google avatar

Joshua J.

Yelp
Great coffee, long lines, okay acai bowls! Friendly barista. Definitely the spot in town for good coffee.
google avatar

Mike B.

Yelp
Great morning coffee. Amazing customer draw lines out to side walk every morning with customers waiting for coffee, danish and breakfast sandwich
google avatar

Emma G.

Yelp
BEST BREAKFAST AND COFFEE SPOT IN CB. Quaint little spot on the corner, the food was made fast and delivered to our table inside. Everything was so delicious and hand crafted, I'm sad we were only there for a day or else we would be going back!!
google avatar

Jason L.

Yelp
OMG, how did I give this amazing crew only four stars? Jason and staff are my end of summer family now. I look forward to seeing them and enjoying their coffee, bread, pastries and amazing cookies every time I'm in town. I make a special stop before leaving Cannon Beach to get one last treat.
google avatar

Maggie H.

Yelp
Serves leftover quiche. No sugar free coffee syrup. Speaking of syrup. Service is sloooow. Go elsewhere. Anywhere.
google avatar

Heidi M.

Yelp
Loved Sea Level!! We stopped in for coffee and I also grabbed a delicious cheesy pastry for our morning walk. Didn't last long as I couldn't keep my hand out of the bag. Coffee was on point and though it's tiny they have a cute outdoor patio that's perfect for soaking up the morning views in beautiful Oregon.
google avatar

Clara H.

Yelp
The establishment was clean and the staff were very friendly. I tried the rosemary lavender latte and a ham sandwich with Brie (though I can't recall the exact French name). The coffee was interesting--I'd likely order it again to better understand its flavor. Unfortunately, they were out of Brie, so I substituted with a mixed cheese. The sandwich, served cold, was disappointing as the crumbly cheese kept falling out. The Dijon mustard was unexpectedly spicy, almost like it had horseradish in it (a quick Google search revealed that some mustards do). I also inquired if the sandwich was large enough to share with my small children (good time to share it's spicy) and the staff assured me it was. I wish they had set more accurate expectations.
google avatar

Emma S.

Yelp
Their normal space is under construction but this little coffee shop is posting up at Public Coast Brewing in the meantime. A great place to grab a coffee and a bite before hitting the beach. They bake all of their treats and I would highly recommend the blackberry muffin!
google avatar

Willie A.

Yelp
We experienced a long wait, which is completely fine, but the pastries were very lackluster and dry. I'm used to good bakeries having buttery and flaky pastries. These were definitely not. Coffee and service were decent and it was nice sitting in the patio. Had the Kouign Amann and sticky bun with pecans. Both were very disappointing. They actually tasted stale.
google avatar

Hayley R.

Yelp
We stayed at a Inn right across the street and this was the perfect stop in the morning to get a drink for your walk on the beach. They have unique speciality drinks that give you something fun and different. We were there very early so there wasn't a wait at all. On our way back there was quite the line so keep that in mind!
google avatar

Liz D.

Yelp
Hands down the best coffee shop in Cannon beach! It's a little out of what I'd call the main area- but only about 3 min south. Really delicious pastries, & sandwiches etc! Cute outdoor eating area plus a few tables inside.

Haley B.

Yelp
Great coffee, pastries and light meals. Friendly staff tolerated my loud kids well. I'd go back.
