While visiting Salem, we stopped by Sea Level Oyster Bar for dinner and ended up really enjoying the evening. The location is great — right near the water with a laid-back atmosphere and plenty of seating both inside and out. If you’re lucky enough to grab a spot outside, the view alone is worth it. We started off with the Sangria Fishbowls, which are big, fun, and perfect for a vacation mood. They were a little on the watery side at first, but after two of them, they definitely got the job done — refreshing, fruity, and great for sharing or sipping slowly (my girlfriend did neither and kept them all for herself). For dinner, my girlfriend ordered the fish tacos, which were fresh, well-seasoned, and full of flavor. They came with a great slaw and sauce combo that tied everything together. I had the baked cod, which was cooked just right — flaky, not overdone, and served with simple but tasty sides. I also tried one of their bright blue tropical cocktails — sweet, a bit strong, and perfect with seafood. I wish I remembered the name, but it added to the fun of the meal. The highlight of the night, though, might have been dessert. We ordered the fried Oreos, and wow — they were incredible. Warm, gooey, and served with just the right amount of gooey chocolate sauce and powdered sugar, they were the perfect end to the meal and something I’d go back for alone. Service was friendly and relaxed, and even though the drinks could’ve been a bit stronger, the food, dessert, and overall experience more than made up for it. Definitely a great place to unwind after a day in Salem. We’ll be back!

The place is beautiful, specially if you can sit by the deck upstairs. Service was good and fast. The baked oyster appetizer is amazing. I would definitely go back for those. The lobster roll. Too pricey and not that bold in flavor. The drinks were really good.

Google
A cool place to grab food, the price was reasonable for what was on offer. Nothing was bad but nothing was amazing. Service was a bit clunky but it could have just been someone newer. The lobster was 42$ that day and was nice. Swordfish was one of 2 specials but was overcooked. Glazed salmon was a nice concept but was overcooked and under seasoned. Drinks were reasonable and fairly priced. I'd try somewhere else but wouldn't be upset to go back.

Google
Yum yum yum!!! Channeled my inner otter…clam chowder (so tasty), oysters (always good) and my first lobster roll (I feel like it was a whole lobster!!). It was big money but tasty and worth it!

Google
Sea Level is great! Good food and friendly service. They have great oysters as well as typical New England seafood. If you don't like seafood, don't fret going here with your friends. As they have sandwiches and some pasta so you won't have to worry about it. I would have to say the best seafood spot in this little area in Salem. So give them a try if you get the chance.

Google
We came here for lunch and had a great meal with nice views of the water. Oysters and the lobster rolls were very good, and it's nice they have non seafood options like pizzas and burgers. Desserts were good as well, especially the cookie pie.

Joe Greene

Google
Beautiful views of the water and pier from the second level. Service felt a little slow, but it did it not detract from the amazingly fresh local fish! Pick things in season like cod or lobster, rather than shrimp which need to be packed and shipped in.

Google
We had some of the best mussels here - the sauce was fantastic for dipping bread. We went at an off-peak time for a later lunch. The staff were friendly & the waterfront views were great. The calamari dish had fried peppers, which did complement the squid, but overall reduced the amount of seafood you received in the dish. While their burgers were solid, I’d recommend steering towards the seafood. Would visit again!

Yelp
Sea Level Oyster Bar is absolutely five stars! We ordered on DoorDash the day we got to Massachusetts, and everything was fantastic. The seafood was incredibly fresh and the portions were big, making it well worth the price. We tried a few appetizers: the popcorn shrimp, chowder fries, and feta dip, and all of them were delicious. The popcorn shrimp ($18) were fried and came with old bay seasoned popcorn and lemon butter aioli for dipping. The popcorn was a good touch and we kept going back to it, even though the shrimp is the star of the plate. The warm feta dip ($15) was topped with olives and oil and served with bread. It was salty, creamy, and a good bite. The chowder fries ($18) are our don't miss option. It's seasoned fries topped with clam chowder, steamed littleneck clams, and cheddar cheese. It's a little bit of everything- cheesy, creamy, crunchy, chewy and carb-y all at once. For mains, I got the baked seafood pie (market price- I paid $37.80) , which was downright addictive with huge chunks of seafood in every bite. It's shrimp, mussels, lobster, mashed potatoes, vegetables and sherry cream topped with Ritz crackers. It was luscious and hearty and perfect for a cold night (and I had plenty for leftovers). My partner ordered the sesame salmon ($27) and loved it; the wasabi crema added the perfect touch of heat. If comes with jasmine rice, vegetables, and topped with lemon and black and white sesame seeds. After such an amazing delivery experience, we can't wait to visit the restaurant in person.

Yelp
While touring Salem, we looked up places to eat and figured a seafood spot by the water would be perfect. Parking, as you could imagine, wasn't great, but we were lucky to find parking by the restaurant. Just be aware it's limited to 2 hours. When we walked in we were able to get seated right away. We ordered IPAs to drink and I had the midnight run cocktail, per recommendation. I personally was not really a fan, but it was tolerable. I ordered the fish tacos, which in my opinion tasted pretty bland. The fish could've been seasoned better. My husband got the crabcake sandwich and said that it was okay and not the best he's had. My cousin ordered oysters, which he enjoyed and a lobster roll. He said the lobster roll was meaty but wasn't the best he's had. Our server was really sweet and efficient which was also why I gave 2 stars. The scene and view were nice as well. Outside of that, I don't think it's a place I'd revisit, if in Salem.

Yelp
With their branding being, "Let Me See Your Muscles," of course we had to go in (and see if they had a shirt in my size to take home). Raw bar galore -- whether you are a fan of local or coastal-wide oysters, buttery lobster, or the perfectly seasoned Haddock, this spot delivers it all within walking distance to one of the largest parking lots in downtown Salem. The Haddock was a standout, with just the right balance of crisp flavor, and the clam chowder was bursting with yummy creaminess. The mashed potatoes were packed with garlic, butter, and fresh herbs. The true takeaway was the seasonal witchy on-trend cocktails (try them all--we did, haha). Clean bathrooms, easy parking, two bar areas and its located within walking distance to the Fall tourism streets.

Yelp
When in Salem, MA you have to find seafood. Sea Level Oyster Bar has just that! We were touristing around Salem and decided to pop in for lunch. We started with a Diet Coke and Apple Cider Donut Cider. That cider was unbelievable. It was delicious. We then moved onto to Chowder Fries and those were very tasty. Needed a bit of Tabasco but it was delicious regardless. Based on our waiters recommendation we did just the Fisherman's Platter for lunch as he mentioned it was "shareable." So we did that and he was right! It was a ton of tasty fried food. Normally we aren't fried food folks but this hit the spot. We will return to try other non-fried options. Everything we saw leave the kitchen looked great! The views throughout the restaurant are spectacular. You get a great view of the National Historic Site while eating your food. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Sea Level is nestled near the water in Salem, MA and has really nice views. While there I ordered their clam chowder and fries and my friend ordered a Cesar salad with steak on top. The clam chowder was ok, I definitely think it could've used more seasoning. And then despite my friend ordering medium for his steak he definitely got pieces that were very well done ... like hard to cut into well done. The service was average. The fries were really good. I probably wouldn't come back to this establishment unless I wanted to enjoy the view again.

Danielle V.

Yelp
Stopped in here for some apps and a drink. We decided on this for the view. The view is worth it but everything else was just okay. We had to wait 20 mins but they text you so you can shop around. We sat outside which was nice, because it's right on the water. We got some oysters and they were alright but pretty high priced in my opinion. The drink I got was decent but not amazing. We got the onion straws and fried pickles and they weren't bad. Overall I would come for the view but maybe try somewhere else for food.

Arthur F.

Yelp
Still trying to get through MA. Another stop I made in Salem, that I highly recommend checking out not just for the food but for the views too. Check it out. Lobster Bloody Mary - No description needed haha. It's a meal on a cup. The steak was delicious, the lobster was good, all of. Most expensive Bloody Mary I've order. Highly recommend though, we don't get these in my area. Sea Level Signature Crab Cake - One of my favorite orders, no matter where, but to have some of this stuff freshly prepared, it made a different. A lump of Crab, Mixed Greens, on a bed of Housemade Remoulade, Housemade Potatoe Chips, yuuuuum! Lobstah Roll - Unless I'm blind, I didn't see this on the menu which doesnt make sense how it ended up on my table. Actually, it makes perfect sense. Anyways, they were everywhere. And I think I ate all of em. Jk. But, super good, bread was fresh, must order. Freshly Shucked Oysters- Again, something I ate a lot of while I was there. Can't get enough, no explaination needed other that it was super fresh and super delicious. Chowder Fries - Okay so these were new to me, and I need more. Omg, so good, if you have a chance to try them, order them. No disappointments here. Look, I ate so much food and I'm trying my best to get through what I ate and it was a lot haha. But this place is definitely a must, especially if you're in Salem. Food was amazing, views were dope, server was nice and the ocean, yo! Hope you get to swing by. Cheers!

Yelp
Quick trip to Salem for the day and as we wanted seafood, this seemed like the right place to go. We were seated quickly and I decided to do the Hook 2-3 person for just myself as my actual lunch. My friend got the popcorn shrimp. As the DnD, I ordered the mock cocktail Wharf Sunset which was orange and pineapple juice, with cream of coconut and a black cherry syrup float. She ordered the Mixed berry fizz: mixed berry vodka, triple sec, blueberry purée, fresh lime & topped with champagne. Both drinks were very tasty (I took a small sip of hers). The Hook had the largest shrimp I have seen in a long time and they were awesome. The oysters weren't sweet, as I'm used to and didn't even seem that briny. The clams too lacked taste, but I can't fault the restaurant for any of this criticism. It was $45, which was pricey, but the shrimp alone were well worth it. Next time, I'd just order the shrimp. She loved her shrimp and the Old Bay seasoned popcorn it came with. Nice overlook of the dock and great location. I'd come here again.

Yelp
We visited the Sea Level Oyster bar for dinner after a witch tour. It was good although I wouldn't quite give it 5 stars. I can see myself bumping it up after trying more menu items but unfortunately don't think I'll be in the area again anytime soon. I love the vibe of the restaurant, given its location by the water and laid back feel. Service was on point and we were seated quickly even though it looked to be at capacity when we arrived. We had the baked oysters, crab cake, cape cod littlenecks. PEI mussels, and the catch of the day tacos. The mussels were easily the star of the show, but really it's hard to go wrong with mussels cooked in wine, garlic, and butter. The crab cake was quite small, but tasty. The little necks were good and fresh, but not something I'd order over fresh oysters in the future. Speaking of oysters, the baked oysters were incredibly disappointing. They were tiny and I couldn't taste the oyster meat at all as the main flavor was essentially bread crumbs(why I knocked a star). We finished with the tacos because we were still hungry after the apps, which were pretty tasty and a generous portion. In summary, I'd recommend a visit for the mussels alone, and the fried items that many of the surrounding tables were ordering looked tasty. Don't order the baked oysters though

Yelp
Went for lunch while I was in town for a wedding. Oysters were ok. They were fresh and came out quick. But our meal came out right behind them. However, one member of our four person party sat without food for about 10 minutes. My husbands chowder came out with his meal, and our oyster app as well. The waitress kept trying to take our uneaten oysters and was full of nervous energy. They were not that busy. The view was nice. We sat on the deck. My cousin ordered the steamers and got quite a few but they had to be picked through and picked apart to eat. My fish tacos were ok. Lots of Guac but little fish. I'd try it here again but it wasn't a home run.

Yelp
Amazing seafood spot in Salem near the water. We were seated fast luckily on the top balcony. It was an odd warm day in late October. We had the autumn's sangria and it was delicious I saw a cool Bloody Mary with lobster on top. It was cool. I took a picture . Too bad I don't like bloody Mary's. We shared shrimp cocktail and oysters and it was delicious and fresh. My friend had a warm lobster roll that looked amazing - she said it was delicious I had the baked scallops and I loved it as well- fresh and delicious Would come back here with no problem

Scott G.

Yelp
Tourist trap. This place is amateur hour. Burnt fish, everything smothered in sauce, etc. Real seafood places don't do that.

Leslie B.

Yelp
Food is amazingly good! If you're in a hurry don't stop to have a quick lunch as the time from when you sit to the server attending is a wait. I will say it's worth the wait, as the food is very good! Here's a few pics of what we ordered.

Manzoor K.

Yelp
Felt the service was ok, food was ok, and ambiance was ok. Nothing particular made this a memorable experience but food was good. It was an average restaurant. Didn't hate and didn't love it. Got the fish taco, white fish and fries, lobster roll, and fish stew.

Eileen A.

Yelp
Really disappointing! Came on a quiet Sunday and was very underwhelmed with the kitchen. Ordered clam chowders, which came out luke warm and we sent back, next time hot but consistency was still off, too thick and kind of congealed. Tacos were forgettable. Hot toddy was not really hot either. Server couldn't have been nicer but overall so disappointing for 80$ (2 drinks, 2 terrible soups and 1 taco, inc tip).

Danielle W.

Yelp
This spot has very pretty views of the water, great oysters and just OK entrees. We got the seafood pie and a kale salad. The pie was really heavy and rich. Really hard to eat more than a few bites. The salad was very bitter, needed a little more dressing and all the veggies were really crunchy. Kale needs to be softened by massaging it to make it more edible. Bread was heavy on the rosemary, so it did not pair well to dip it in the clam chowder. Service was fine at our table, other servers seemed to be less attentive. Bathroom had out of order stall and line to use it. Was later in the evening, so maybe it's a better place for lunch.

Stacey M.

Yelp
Great location. We walked in the front doors to see a sign that told patrons to see the hostess upstairs. There was a poor guy struggling on the steps and when he was halfway she said there was an elevator... poor guy. My husband ordered the chowder fries and loved them! His CAN of beer (Corona) was over $7. Eek. I ordered the mahi fish tacos but the fish was super dry and tasteless. The food looked amazing but I think I'd pass on returning.

Melanie L.

Yelp
Oysters: not sure which my friends ordered, but it came with three different types of oysters, four each. We definitely had our favorites but unfortunately can't tell you which. I don't think they pointed out which was which. Baked seafood pie: omg this dish was SO good. The mashed potato in it was filling and the seafood was plenty. This is a definite must have! White clam pizza: I'm a fan of arugula and I'm a fan of the cheese they had. Was there clam? Sorry I totally forgot haha. But we all really liked this pizza too. Overall a good combination of foods to have. Atmosphere: pleasant with a good view (though we didn't pay too much attention to the view). We were very tired and we're just happy to sit down. Only downside: the women's restroom was musky and smelled like urine. There was no AC in there, so it was very warm.

Tanya B.

Yelp
We had a great waiter. We wanted to try everything. So we almost did. The clam chowder was ok not great. The Scary Mary Bloody Mary gets a 10 for presentation but a 5 on flavor. The clam chowder fries were delicious. Clams were ok, calamari was good and the shrimp with old bay pop corn was awesome. Atmosphere was fun and friendly.

Jungwon K.

Yelp
We stopped by on a Friday night and we were seated upstairs with no wait. We ordered two drinks which were great. For food, we got some oysters, shrimp cocktail, steamers, and the chowder fries. Oysters and shrimp were fine, but not particularly special. The fries were pretty good, except they were pretty salty. I wish they had used unsalted fries since the chowder already has a lot of salt. We were looking forward to the steamers, but we're pretty disappointed. They were so mushy and fell apart so easily, almost like they were so undercooked they were basically raw. We couldn't get them off the shell without it just disintegrating, so rinsing them was no use and we were chewing on so much sand. The food I would give 3 stars, but the service was good so we give it a 4.

Sky E.

Yelp
I spend a lot of time at Sea Level and have all the dirt. They have excellent cocktails and wine selections and I rarely have a dish I don't like. This is one place where the salads are a real dish to be had instead of a healthy alternative. My other go tos are the street corn dip (seasonal), cool ranch chicken tacos, and any burger (they're all excellent). I will caution that the pasta dishes are hit or miss in my opinion. I come here by myself a lot and all the bartenders are very good at keeping me company and keeping the drinks coming. I work on my computer at the bar and enjoy the live music on Sundays or beautiful views of the oceans while I write. I highly recommend Sea Level!

Erica J.

Yelp
After our haunted boat tour, we decided to check this place out for lunch and drinks. We sat at the second floor at the bar with amazing views of the water. The bartenders were super friendly and intentive. We shared a pizza, which tasted like something you got off the kids menu. I wasn't impressed at all. It was a good size for two people and we also ordered crowder fries. They were fantastic and I highly recommend ordering them. I do wish we would've ordered some thing besides a pizza but I would definitely consider coming back and trying a different menu item. Thank you to the wonderful host, who let me charge my phone because it was almost dead and the day is not over yet. My mistake for coming to Salem and walking around all day and not bringing a charger. You are wonderful and saved the day.

Kate C.

Yelp
Fun waterfront place in Salem with good seafood and a great view. I've been here a handful of times and it's well-priced and the food is always fresh and yummy. Definitely try to eat on the upstairs deck!

Laura K.

Yelp
Husband and I were in MA for a one-day errand and knew we had to swing by Sea Level in Salem. We used to go to the location in Newburyport regularly when we lived in the area and this location was equally as amazing! We were seated on the deck and really loved looking out over the water. It was the perfect setting for our seafood lunch. To start we got the Popcorn Shrimp appetizer, which was absolutely mouthwatering. Props for creativity too - I never expected the popcorn shrimp to be fat fried shrimp served on a bed of popcorn! For entrées I got the Baked Scallops with mashed potatoes and veggies and my husband got the Fried White Fish with fries and slaw. We were both so happy with our choices and we were totally stuffed by the end of the meal. I would have eaten 3 plates if those baked scallops if my stomach could have handled it - so tasty! Our server Marshall was great - so kind and attentive. Our glasses were never empty despite a handful of tables being seated in his section. He made us feel welcome and taken care of. Can't wait to visit again in the future!

Kristen L.

Yelp
Welcoming and friendly staff who are very attentive, kind and have great recommendations for food and drinks. Ocean views possible from most seats in the restaurant. Come here for the appetizers and fresh seafood. Great beer selection especially the Maine Lunch beer. I appreciate the descriptions of the fresh oysters - the wellfleet and eel River were both superb. Clam chowder fries are worth a trip here. So rich - the cheese and chowder blend so perfectly. This is definitely something you can happily share with others. Bacon in clam chowder made it a bit too greasy. Fisherman's platter and Seafood pie are shareable plates that are too large just for 1 person.

Jolie F.

Yelp
Great experience had with coworkers at this restaurant! Restaurant provides a great view of the water. There are patio seating that is fully covered in winter, bar seating and restaurant seating. If you seek seafood, then this is the place to come too! I had a delightful hot lobster roll! No fillers! 35 dollars but all lobster. They have a cold version too with Mayo! And started with raw oysters that were on special for $1.50 each! And ended with an array of desserts: key lime and a chocolate mint lime dessert. Both were good! Also I saw they have a Bloody Mary with lobster for 35 dollars, yes a drink! We did not try but looked good! Based on experience, I would come back! During peak season I would make reservations!

Maggie Z.

Yelp
We wanted to have a meal directly on the water and this worked! Despite it being a seafood restaurant, Sea Level had options for vegetarians and picky eaters. The beer list was good and service attentive. We were seated at the bar without a wait option even though many/most tables remained empty during our 2PM mealtime. This was understandable, but fairly frustrating given we came for the view. Definitely stop by for a drink with a water view!

Adrian K.

Yelp
While it's a nice restaurant with a killer view, coming here on Mother's day affected the quality of service and perhaps the quality of the food... Everything other than the steak was overcooked, the oyster steamers were not cleaned well, and all of it was bland. I can say the clam chowder was good and the fries were good, other than that it was a loss. My take away is don't go during a busy time. I'm willing to give the benefit of a doubt attribute this visit to Mother's Day.

Victoria S.

Yelp
Got the fried clams and got food poisoning. Went on a walking tour after dinner, and ended up throwing up non-stop in an alley in front of the entire tour. Nightmare. Ruined my entire night.

Brian B.

Yelp
After wrapping up our History & Hauntings of Salem tour, we were in the mood for a bite to eat. Our tour guide, Diane, recommended 2 spots. Since this place had a view, we decided to come here. We got there at the right time, as there were very few people there. We also got a seat outside. Normally, the view of the wharf would have been great but it was raining My wife and I had a beer to start. I choose the Mighty Squirrel Cloud Candy. She had the Shipyard Pumpkinhed Ale. Since this was our last meal in MA, I decided to give their oysters a try. I had one of each. They were great, and I enjoyed the salty pop each provided. For our entree, I had the Crab Cake sandwich. The sandwich was okay, wasn't too impressed by it though. I was expecting better honestly. My wife did enjoy her fish sandwich though. The fries were good and cole slaw was tolerable. If I were back in the area I would probably try this spot again, just try something different though. I am sure the view is great when it is clear out!

Melissa D.

Yelp
My husband and I ate here based on a recommendation from our tour guide. We took a day trip to Salem from Boston and we ended the day with dinner here and it was perfect. We were taking a ferry back to Boston and wanted something close to the water. We had no reservation but on a Thur were able to be seated right away around 5:30. My husband had the shrimp and pasta and I had the Haddock with crab on top. Both were delicious! This was a very casual place to eat with a great view of the wharf. Server was friendly and prompt. We would definitely eat here again if we ever return to Salem.

Vicky O.

Yelp
Our server was Manny. He was such an attentive, pleasant young man! The restaurant is great. There's indoor dining, but almost like outdoor dining, outdoor dining with views of the wharf and a balcony upstairs. Lovely views from indoors too! Manny also had very good recommendations for us! Extremely attentive. Can't go wrong having lunch or dinner here!

Robin N.

Yelp
Really enjoyed the food. Service was struggling a bit last Friday night but-Grace. Two co- workers and I spent a much deserved night out. And inevitably the drinks were good and the food tasted good. The side vegetables were the scallops could be more inspiring.

Marcella A.

Yelp
My mother and I decided to check this spot out. We are so happy we decided to come here. I found this place on yelp and saw all the delicious photos and this place did not disappoint me, everything that we had was very delicious. We decided to try all the different selections of raw oysters that they had, two out of the three were my favorite. We decided to get the chowder cheddar fries and wow they were very different but very delicious. For our entire We both decided to get the Baked Pies wow they were to die for and very very delicious. I would highly recommend going to this restaurant and checking them out.

Tricia W.

Yelp
As promised, we gave Sea Level another try. This time for dinner on Sat Jan 28. We made reservations and were glad we did because the place was hoppin'! So how did they go from my original three stars to 5? We dove into their entrée menu and selected true seafood dishes with interesting twists. I got the salmon, which was seared to a perfect medium with a nice crust on the outside. Under it was a sweet potato bacon hash that complimented the fish perfectly, and to tie it all together was a horseradish crème - I should have asked for extra on that; it was so yummy! Hubs got the baked scallop dish, and when it came out, I honestly wasn't that impressed; it looked like 80s-style veg on the side, a plop of mashed potatoes, and a tiny dish of scallops. However, once he started diggin' in, you could see they were healthy size scallops cooked to perfection. The mashed potatoes were creamy yet light and fluffy, all real potatoes here, and the veg was cooked crisp-tender and perhaps just needed a bit of pepper to heighten it. The cocktails were on point, and we ended with a coffee crème brulee. Yummy! Not too sweet and nice sugar crack on top! Devon, our server was one of the best servers we have ever had! While the place was slammed, the bar backed up, and her running all over, we never felt neglected or forgotten. Much the opposite, we felt like her only customers when she was chatting with us. We will ask for her again! Great job, Sea Level! We will be back!

Dylan H.

Yelp
Went here the other day and the bartender was absolutely barking at us for our IDs the second we sat down. We were both 30 year old men with one 35 year old female. We thought she was joking the way she was demanding them. The spot was cool with a nice breeze. Good beer. Be careful to not get tagged by one of the oysters. They didn't seem the freshest.

Vincent D.

Yelp
The place and the staff was very welcoming and we celebrated my daughter birthday there and the food was delicious

RA J.

Yelp
I had the opportunity to eat at the Sea Level Oyster Bar after a press conference. Although I was recommended to a different restaurant I saw the crowds at Sea Level. The service was super quick and the food flavorful and hot when it came out. It's a normal restaurant and not upscale like most oyster bars try to be.

Latoya G.

Yelp
The outdoor seating has a beautiful and relaxing view. I came here for lunch but this would be perfect for a sunset drink. I walked in and was immediately seated. Parking was a piece of cake as well. I was a party of one so she showed me my table, I put my items down and went to the bathroom. Steps before walking in, a horrible strong smell of urine. Once I entered the bathroom it was like bang! The bathroom smelled so horrible for a restaurant. It smelled like the floor has been mopped with urine instead of water. The smell was horrible. Smelled like I was at a sports arena or concert instead of a seafood restaurant. That should've been my sign to leave. but I stayed. I ordered calamari and a salmon burger no bacon from their specials menu. Calamari was good. I ordered a side of garlic aioli and it wasn't good at all. Not a taste of garlic. I can't explain it but didn't taste like aioli. This was on the salmon burger so I prepared myself to not liking it. The burger came, it looked good. I took a bite and was adjusting my tastebuds. It had a weird taste. When looking at the burger I could see chunks of salmon but it looked overpowered by breading. I didn't like it at all. I didn't finish it. If I happened to be in the area again, I would give the place another try first going to the bathroom. If it still smells, I'm leaving. If it smells like it was cleaned with cleaning products I'll stay and order something different than the first time.

Yelp
This food was absolutely amazing, being from a Moutian state this place offers such an amazing coastal experience in every bite.

Yelp
Great food, great service. Ask for Jake. We shared the fish stew, and had enough leftovers for another meal.

Yelp
Not sure if they take reservations but I'd highly recommend making one. With only their upper level open for seating, we did have to wait about an hour and a half. I believe after 5 the entire restaurant opens which should alleviate that wait time. As a starter I ordered the clam chowder and it was excellent. It was so rich and creamy it was one of my favorite soups from all the restaurants we went to in Boston. As an entree I ordered the crab cake sandwich. It was pretty good but not something I'd order again.

Yelp
*Cross posted on Google Reviews* First off, our server was AMAZING. She was fun, outgoing, & very helpful. She really made the night extra fun & matched our vibes. Second, the food was fantastic! Didn't know how I'd feel about the clam chowder fries but they're my new comfort food lol. Street corn dip was OK. Good but not anything to write home about. The raw oysters were super good! Where I'm from there's only one choice of oyster so choosing from 3 was interesting But what put Sea Level on my list was the Scary Mary. I am a huge Bloody Mary fan & putting a lobster, steak, & oyster on top was just next level. Finally, if you're visiting in the fall, I highly recommend you split a pitcher of the apple cinnamon sangria. It is to die for!

Yelp
After visiting and touring Salem MA, we stopped for an early dinner at the SEA LEVEL OYSTER BAR, and it was absolutely wonderful, better than several high-end seafood restaurants we experienced in Boston, Providence, and Mystic. My wife ordered the Fish of the Day Tacos and the Fried Clam Strips appetizer, and I ordered the Fish Stew. The tacos were filled with mahi mahi, cabbage slaw, pineapple salsa, chili garlic aioli, and cotija cheese served on soft corn tortillas; my wife especially enjoyed the enhanced balance of the pineapple and slaw. The fried clam strips had a thin crisply and well-seasoned crust, and came with a creamy tartar sauce - my wife added cocktail sauce because she likes both. My fish stew contained cod, shrimp, scallops & mussels sautéed in a rich and velvety tomato sauce, with sautéed onions, fennel, and lemon butter aioli; the tomato base was fantastic! Ambience was perfect for a seafood restaurant: pleasant romantic atmosphere, surrounded outside by hundreds of moored sea vessels and the Friendship ship, plus a view of the ocean in the distance. Everything was outstanding, service was great, and prices very reasonable. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Location, location, location!!! Yesterday was a stunningly beautiful day that just begged for waterfront seating. We found this place (thank you lovely Yelper friends). I had the taco special of the day, Mahi Mahi, and hubs went for some clam chowdah (of course) and a crab cake (appetizer). My tacos were lukewarm and a bit dry, however, the mango salsa was fantastic and offset both. Portions were generous, 3 tacos $18 Hubs said the cup or clam chowder was fantastic ($8) and the crab cake was very good, it was served with a salad base and some chips ($16). I had a glass of wine and hubs had a Sam Adams and total bill was about $65 before tip. Service was friendly and efficient from Aaron l! Definitely a great spot to enjoy the views from the Salem waterfront!

Yelp
I came here with my friend on a Tuesday night around 8pm. We were seated upstairs. The restaurant was still pretty busy, but starting to clear out for the night. We decided to order the popcorn shrimp and the Fish of the Day tacos and share. The popcorn shrimp were my favorite between the two. I liked all components of it, from the actual shrimp to the tartar sauce to the bed of popcorn underneath. The fish of the day was Mahi, which is what was in the tacos. The restaurant overlooks the harbor, so the view is beautiful. Our waiter and the hostesses were all friendly, and the food was great. I'd definitely recommend stopping by if you're in Salem!

Yelp
I ordered the baked scallops and they were really tasty. I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of scallops I got and the portion was very filling. I truly enjoyed my meal.
