I stayed at the resort because I was attending a two day conference hosted on the grounds. When I checked in, I was told that since I had requested a ground floor room, due to problems with my right leg, I had been placed in a handicapped room. Having been on the road for so long, and exhausted, I didn't argue with it after being told there were other handicapped rooms available and none were currently in use, so I wasn't taking up space someone truly could have used more than myself.
The handicapped rooms are set off in a corner of the resort, my best ball park estimate is a couple hundred feet shy of a quarter mile from the available parking in the lot due to construction going on at the time. That makes no sense to me. And oh yea, the construction that was going on? Right next door to me, and went on well after dark.
The tv was out the entire evening, as well as the internet for a little while. I understand that things happen, and services go out, but the internet was apparently an error "in house" when I asked later on. Someone had disconnected it and forgot to fix it for hours. I'm not saying that my trip was ruined due to no TV or net, but after hours on the road, it's nice to be able to unwind in a strange place with some mind numbing entertainment/music/etc.
When I checked in I also double checked on where I needed to go for my conference. I was told one of the rooms in the main conference center by the gentleman at the front desk, and had it pointed out to me on a map. When I asked about amenities available, kitchenettes, a fridge for drinks, a microwave for lunch, I was told none of those were available in the conference center but they had a wonderful restaurant on site. The next morning when I showed up to go to my conference, it was not there. After checking all the possible rooms I called the front desk again to be told by very nice and apologetic young lady that the conference I was attending was located in the Executive Suite, which was actually in one of the buildings with the lodging suites. And when I made it over there, I walked in and passed a fully accessible kitchen before I even reached the meeting room. If the guy at the front had even checked his notes or paid attention to the conference I told him I was attending, he could have actually answered my questions instead of just waiting to clock out at the end of his shift.
The best part of the trip was that the beds were at least comfortable, and the bathroom was nice as well. Though the main shower head wouldn't work, the wand you could take off a stand and move around with was nice. Not worth the price to stay here though. Not at all. The young lady working the guest services Wednesday morning was a sweetheart and very helpful.
