Kick Off Memorial Day Weekend With a Chardonnay at These 15 Atlanta-Area Spots | Eater

"Looking for a quick getaway? The Sea Palms Resort & Conference Center has plenty of rooms waiting for you, as well as a glass of Harken. About five hours from Atlanta, soak in the views of St. Simon Island’s salt marshes at the Sea Palms Resort & Conference Center. You can enjoy that glass in Sago, the hotel’s restaurant with items like BBQ pork nachos, pizzas in varying topping combinations, and plenty of seafood staples such as fish and chips and crab cakes on the menu. There’s also a daily happy hour from 4-6:00 p.m."

The Sea Palms resort is at a quiet and picturesque location in St. Simon's island. Rooms are great with marsh view, and the facility is easily walkable. We liked the dinner and Saturday breakfast at the on-site restaurant. The shuttle service to locations around the island like the Pier was helpful. We definitely plan to visit again!

I overall enjoyed my stay at Sea Palms. The room was spacious with a gorgeous view of the marsh. I attended a conference and the meeting room, friendliness of staff, and food all earned high marks. ||The ladies restroom in the conference area could have been better attended and it was odd being chased out of the bar at 9:30 on a Thursday night. Kind of early to close, in my opinion, and the bartender wasn’t the friendliest when ushering us out.||The fitness center was nice and had the best selection of equipment I’ve seen in a hotel, but was lacking in cleanliness. ||I would return to Sea Palms for the price, convenience, quality and proximity to island attractions.

The views from our balcony was wonderful. We enjoyed the room with a separate bedroom. Very spacious. The restaurant had tasty food and we had a really good dinner and good service. The highlight was the excellent, welcoming check in with Gabe. He was personable, we genuinely felt welcomed and I immediately told him he stood out amongst the many check in experiences I've ever had. He deserved recognition.

Where do I even start? The room had broken air conditioning and reeked of chemical smells. “Clean linens” were left in a bag on my bed — not even put on the bed. And then, the kicker: apparently my key card works for anyone else’s room too? Yes, yes it does. I have pictures of what I assumed was a dirty room they handed me. Security breach, yes ?||I’ve called and texted- no answer. They do not care. ||The property is mismanaged, the staff indifferent, and the whole experience felt unsafe and unprofessional. Stay anywhere else if you value your sleep, your safety, or your sanity.

The manager Shanen is so amazing! I call with a last minute request and she was so nice and accommodating. The desk agents were so incredibly kind and helpful as well, heather and Kaylin. I am so excited for our stay there and just know it will be amazing! Thank you ladies again for helping me last minute, it is greatly appreciated!

We visited the area to spend time with our grandchild. We knew some places could be noisy on weekends so we called ahead. We were promised on-site security and enforced quiet hours after 11:00 pm. My son, who lives nearby, personally stopped by and was told the same thing. |The actual experience: There were drunk college kids and parties in rooms, in the hallways, and in the parking lot. Kids yelling and throwing up in the parking lot. We called the hotel number several times before anyone answered. We were told security was on the way. 20 minutes later we called back and was told security was not actually on site (and they NEVER SHOWED UP! We called the police at 2:30 am and they at least cleared the parking lot and the hallways (put the jumping and yelling in the rooms continued well after 3:00 am). There was also a loud banging (water hammer) every time anyone turned on the water or flushed a toilet for the entire stay.|We left a message for management to call and it took a followup call and 4 days to get a call, The manager, Shannon Westberry, laughed when I told her about our experience. She said it was GA/FL weekend and they have no control over the partying on their property on that weekend. She said that no one at the resort would have promised quiet hours during this weekend and basically called me and my son a liar. She refused to apologize and laughed several times that we would even expect quiet after midnight on their property that weekend. If I didnt like the stay, I could challenge it on my credit card. My son went in person and she told him the same. $400 for 2 hours sleep. WE WILL NEVER STAY AT THIS HOTEL AND WARN EVERYONE THAT THE CUSTOMER SERVICE IS HORRIBLE.

A very nice place to stay. Rooms are clean and smell refreshing. Front desk check in was easy. Fresh baked cookies in the lobby for a welcome snack. Very friendly staff. The resort is easy to get to but island traffic can be hectic.

We stayed this weekend in rm 365. Guess services was always friendly from the time of check-in to the time of check-out. However, when we got there the safe alarm kept going off. We asked to send someone to please fix it. Maintenance showed up to fix it and while he was there we mentioned that the hot water would not last very long. Every 2 minutes we had to step away from the shower because it would get freezing cold. He said that it shared a water heater with the room next door ans there was nothing he could do. The next day I went to the front desk and told them that we could not shower because the hot water would only last about 2 minutes. They offered to send maintenance again but, that they were not sure it could be repaired. Showering there was awful and there was never a solution to be be found. We were not satisfied at all with this experience.

Yelp
The rooms are large beautifully, decorated plenty of coffee and a coffee maker in the room love the shower. It's large. Has a nice pool area. Has a bar with so many items to choose from and a restaurant highly recommend.

Yelp
I came here for an event that I was attending nearby. The staff was wonderful, very friendly and helpful. Gabriel checked us in and he was great. Gave us all the info that we needed and got us on our way. The room was very clean and spacious. It came with a mini fridge, microwave, a toaster, dishes, and an in room coffee maker. The beds were comfortable too. What I didn't care for is that the hotel rooms are in buildings that are separated from the main hotel and restaurant. For example, we went to dinner at the hotel restaurant and we got caught in a down pour (common to the area) and we were soaked just getting from the restaurant to our car and then from our car to the hotel building. The hotel buildings have five steps up to get to the elevator so getting luggage up and down these steps was not an easy task. There was no ramp that we could find. They also don't offer daily cleaning service unless you request it. And to request it, you have to go the front desk and ask. Not super convenient. There is a golf course on the property, which I think is what makes it so expensive. Unless you're going to take advantage of the golf course I would look for a cheaper property to stay at. Overall, it was OK.

Yelp
They haven't refunded me $400 for my spa treatment They made me wait an hour and half, didn't refund drinks that was promised, and then told my nineteen year old son not to bring me back

Yelp
Place is nice with great views and amenities but they lack communication amongst the staff. Upon check in I was told room service would only come if requested. And if requested before 2, they would come same day by 5. On a Friday I called at 1230pm for them to come. They never came. When I got back at 12am, I came back to an unserviced room. I called front desk, asked them to have them come the next day (Saturday) AFTER 1pm. I live in Los Angeles and am trying to keep a west coast clock so this detail was very important. Not only did I have a neighborhood with a noisy child at 8am (5am to me) but then housekeeping comes banging on the door at 1030am. I slightly opened the door and said that I had requested after 1pm, and she said "I didn't know that." Please work on your details and communication between yourselves Sea Palms.

Yelp
So far, we are thrilled. Great room, great view! Very clean and employees were friendly and helpful. So glad we found this place.

Yelp
For the rates they charge, this place is NOT worth it. My first night they ran out of the beer I wanted and Buffalo Trace. My bathroom was kind of dirty with visible hairs that weren't mine. The food we had was terrible. They also charged me the draft price for the canned price, meaning I got 4oz less. Not recommended.

Yelp
The resort is a great for conferences and family reunions! The staff is professional and accommodating. The resort is clean and inviting.

Yelp
The Sea Palms hotel management company, Woven by Raines, has a stated mission to curate "unforgettable experiences" for their guests, but I don't see "motel frat party" listed as one of those experiences on the www.Rainesco.com website. We visited the area to spend time with our grandchild. We knew some places could be noisy on weekends so we called ahead. We were promised on-site security and enforced quiet hours after 11:00 pm. My son, who lives nearby, personally stopped by and was told the same thing. Our actual "unforgettable experience" was drunk college kids and parties in rooms, in the hallways, and in the parking lot. Kids yelling and throwing up in the parking lot. We called the hotel number several times before anyone answered. We were told security was on the way. 20 minutes later we called back and were told security was not actually on site. We called 911 and the officers kindly cleared the parking lot and the hallways (but the jumping and yelling in the rooms continued well after 3:00 am). There was also no rest due to a loud banging from behind a louvered door near the bed. This noise was from the water hammer caused by anyone turning on/off the water or flushing a toilet nearby. We left a message for management to call and it took a followup call and 4 days to get a return call. The manager, Shannon Westberry, LAUGHED when I told her about our experience. She said it was GA/FL weekend and they have no control over the partying on their property on that weekend. She said that we were lying because NOBODY at the resort would have promised quiet hours during this weekend. She refused to apologize and laughed several times that we would even expect quiet after midnight on their property that weekend. I was told that if I didn't like the stay, I could challenge it on my credit card. We paid $400 for 2 hours of sleep. (And an additional Sea Palms charge for almost $400 seems to be held on my card 4 days after we checked out.) WE WILL NEVER STAY AT THIS HOTEL AND WARN EVERYONE - Hotel management (Woven by Raines) willingly cedes control of their Sea Palms "Resort" property to drunk college students with no warning or consideration for adult guests.

Yelp
I attempted to book a tee time for my son on their website, I never got a response I booked a $400 Island Day spa package, my money was taken and an appointment was booked. My son drops me off for an 11 o'clock appointment I get there at 10:35 I wait until 11 and ask about appointment I was informed it's an outside contractor I called them no answer I call Sea Palms they contact spa people I Uber back to my condo Sea Palm calls please come back we will have a massage for you at noon I go back I purchased two cocktails and by 12:30 no massage so I left and waited for my son to pick me up I am sitting outside finishing my second cocktail owner calls and says his employee is looking everywhere for me I tell him I am outside sitting on the pavilion, and then he tells me that HE isn't even at Sea Palms I asked him how he knew what his employees are doing because I am at Sea Palms and there is NOBODY looking for me He told me I was being belligerent and hung up on me I walked to the front of the building and tried to call him back, not one staff member came and helped me When my son came the old lady finally came out and helped me in my car, I am wearing a boot on my foot, and told my son to never bring me back Huh? I got no service, I was treated with disrespect and this lady is going to try to shame me in front of my son No ma'am I too am I small business owner and this is NOT how you treat customers I will never be back and I wI'll share this experience everywhere on this island and beyond

Yelp
This space has potential with the large rooms and renovated showers but everything in our room was so grossly dirty. Our feet turned literal black from walking on the floors. It reminded me of college frat sludge that had been mopped up to look clean but was imbedding in the floor. It was sticky and when we washed our feet in the shower there were chunks of black that came off. Additionally, there were multiple dead cockroaches. We liked the buffet with the wide selection but the service was truly horrible. Our waiter could not have been more rude. We also ordered an espresso martini that took the cake for the worst we've ever had. The pool was nice but the towels ran out early in the day and never got replenished. Basically everything here needed a revamp. The potential is there but execution was quite poor. I would not stay here or recommend it.

Yelp
The resort was just ok. I would recommend staying somewhere closer to the beach but it depends on what you are looking for. They do have a shuttle that takes you to another resort location with beach access. The staff was not overly friendly. We did arrive during a holiday weekend so it was in the busy side. There was a worker who was working the front desk early on a Sunday morning that was super friendly and accommodating. The other staff did not go out of their way to be nice or welcoming. You can tell the buildings are on the older side but they have been updated. The view was very nice. When we go back to St. Simons we'll most likely be looking for another place to stay.

Yelp
I've been visiting SSI for a few years now but have never actually made my way to this side of the island where this resort is located but I'm glad I found it! I happened to be searching the usual airbnbs, Vrbo, Horner copper rental home options but found that a lot of the homes were a lot more expensive than they used to be so after a quick google search, I stumbled upon the Sea Palms Resort. I was immediately drawn to how cute the rooms were and the reviews that I read on a few sites let me know this might be a good place to stay. I happened to mention this place to a friend of mine who was planning to visit and she ended up booking her room at the Sea Palms. She called when she arrived and I was able to see that the rooms were indeed just as awesome as the website showed and she also told me how she pleased she was at the end of her stay. Needless to say I went ahead and booked the room as the price for super budget friendly and the booking process was pretty quick and painless. When we arrived, the young lady at the reception area was super sweet and provided me with room keys, let me know about the amenities, and told me exactly how to get to our room. We made our way to our room and found that while you enter one door for your room, it's almost like an apartment or suite setup so you'll want to be sure to pay attention to whether you're room A or room B. From entering our room, I feel in love with just how open and spacious and how nicely decorated the room was! The setup was nice and worked well for having a 3 year old so while I'm sure the people below our room hated us, he had the time of his life with all the openness and being able to run back and forth. The room was awesome and spacious, the beds were comfy, the bathroom was huge and I appreciated they gave us enough towels. I was happy to have a little kitchenette area with a sink, mini fridge, and microwave as well as a screened in balcony which was perfect for those nights when the weather was just breezy and not stifling hot! Not to mention simply beautiful views of the marshland. My little one had a blast seeing all the different birds and was just in awe with the scenery as was I. The only issue we had was that after entering our room, we noticed that the room was not cooling off but after I made one call to the front desk and explained the issue, the nicest young man with maintenance, named Tim, came to the rescue. While he was the only one working, he was super personable and did everything he could to fix the situation. We did wish there was a peephole for the room door as when people would knock on doors, you weren't sure which room they were going to or who they were because there was no peephole. The bathroom ventilation was not the best and not sure why, and we also would have liked to have TV channels for the little one (yes, I know you're not spending much time in the room buttttt it would be nice to have Nick Jr or Disney Jr for the tiny guests). Outside of these small things, this was an amazing first experience and I know we'll be back for another stay!

Yelp
We were in Sandpiper and we could go on the elevator but every time we were going up and pressed 3 it would sit there with the doors open and we were on 3 so we had to climb up the stairs. No free breakfast.

Yelp
My wife and I had a wonderful stay at Sea Palms. The room was brand new, clean, and had wonderful views of the marsh. We had one issue getting our door to the patio to latch, but maintenance came and fixed it right away. We played golf on the second day of our weekend trip and the course was in exceptional shape. The pro shop staff were very friendly and helpful. Greens were rolling well, tee boxes and fairways were well maintained. Only issue was the range was closed due to an unexpected microburst. They still provided a warm up net and had a nice short game practice area. I'd love to give this review a full five stars, but following our round we went to the restaurant on site and the staff would not wait on us. We waited several minutes to be seated in a down time, and then when we were seated no staff came to greet us or to take our orders. We decided to go somewhere else for lunch. That was the only disappointment we had of the weekend. The rest of the staff at Sea Palms was wonderful and we would definitely consider staying here again.

Yelp
We booked the King Suite all based on the bathroom. The room has a tub in the walk in shower. The shower is massive. The room itself was beautiful and very clean. Also you have complimentary access to the "Beach Club" where you can enjoy the beach and their pool as well. It's a 15 minute drive from Sea Palms. You aren't within walking distance to bars/restaurants but it's a 5 minute drive to tons of places. I don't recommend the on site restaurant for eating. It's a nice area to have cocktails but the food is average at best.

Yelp
On a lark, we decided to spend 3 days of a New Year's eve weekend on Saint Simon's. This Sea Palms is recently renovated with awesome marsh views over to Cloisters and cottages. Quiet and off the beaten path. Good AAA rate. We loved it as our base to bike Saint Simon, sea Island, and Jekyll. Nicely renovated and you have access to their partner oceanfront resort. We took full advantage of that porch for our take out meals and morning coffee. This was our first visit to this part of Georgia. Truly enchanted with the golden isles. Thought this hotel was a great value with lovely view for us.
google avatar

Yelp
Recently renovated with a modern coastal style, the rooms were wonderful! We had a little kitchenette and the view of the marsh is beautiful! My in-laws stayed in the room next-door and enjoyed a wonderful patio and a slightly different room setup. We enjoyed Thanksgiving dinner at the restaurant on property, and it was fantastic! Everything they served was done well. If you stay here, you also have access to their beach club property, which is a few miles away. The beach is beautiful, and there are bikes you can use, as well. However, I personally enjoyed staying at the golf resort property more than I think I would have enjoyed staying there. It was more quiet, and for me, it provided a different scenery than what I'm used to at home. Wonderful spot if you're traveling to Saint Simons!

Yelp
At first glance this "resort" seems like the best deal in town. But by the end of your stay they will find a way to charge you more. It's the spirit airlines of lodging in St Simons. The only thing positive I can say is the views are nice. Both nights our room was too loud from the surrounding rooms to sleep. Hours after leaving the Sea Palm I was charged $150. When I inquired they told me they had to buy new sheets for the room and because they are torn and that's the standard amount they charge. I asked for photos and they sent me some, guess what? No rips in the sheets. This place is a complete racket I feel absolutely robbed by this place.

Yelp
Sea Palms resort has been everything and more than I expected. I called the offer before my boyfriend and I arrived as I was going to propose. The greeting at arrival was unbelievable! They set my room up with candles, chocolate covered strawberries, Macon's and best of all a welcome treats for our fur baby. To my surprise my boyfriend became fiancé when he asked me on arrival. The Sea Palms guest check in were once again elated. We will definitely be back. Through the excitement I can only remember the names of two people who made the experience amazing ~Tiffany and Shawna but I will update the their names because without ever one helping the most important thing in my life would not have happened flawlessly.

Yelp
We have stayed at the lovely Sea Palms many times and every time we have a nice stay. Rooms are always clean. Nice views and close to everything. Excellent value as well.

Yelp
Stayed here for a short weekend getaway, 10/10 recommend. The check in staff, Miranda specifically, was very kind and helpful. The elevator in my building was not working so they gave me a discount which was nice. I didn't get to try the restaurant but passing through it, it looked very nice and the live music was a nice touch. The pool and tiki bar were very nice and clean. Serving staff were kind and fast. They had plenty of very nice lounging chairs and umbrellas to make up for how hot it was. Would definitely stay here again if I get the chance!

Yelp
Stayed for three nights with my boyfriend where we met my parents for Thanksgiving in 2022. Room was super clean and in fantastic shape. The restaurant was large, full service, and so convenient and had a great menu. The ammenities (on grounds and in room) were plenrtiful, and it was cool to see the salt marsh rise and fall from our enclosed porch attached to the room. That view was really cool and different. Had a really great time, and it's a fair price for the stay and experience. (Oh, and the bed was super comfortable!)

Yelp
They need more stars!!! We just had my daughter's wedding there and I can't brag enough on the staff. From the time we pulled in to the moment we left (6 days total) I don't have one single complaint! Every single staff member that we encountered went above and beyond anything I have ever experienced. Special thanks to these and yes there were many more! Bailey, Rob, Shannon, Mr. Brooks, Muhammad, Don, Bree, Tristan and banquet staff. All of the rooms have been recently remodeled and are so modern! The Sago Restaurant was amazing! We ate there so many times including a Sunday Brunch that was like none other! The friendliest people you'll ever meet that showed true southern hospitality! Thank you for the most memorable week of our lives. 12.30.2023

Yelp
Great stay at Sea Palms this summer. Msichanna, at the front desk, recommended an amazing salad at the resort restaurante. Georgia Sunset ?? It had peaches and pecans :)

C.j. C.

Yelp
Beautiful course, the people I was with had a fun time playing. 2 stars for the absolute jerk at the front desk who wanted to make sure we "weren't holding up anybody behind us" and told us it was "unacceptable" that it had taken 2 1/2 hours to play the front nine (of the 3 people playing, 2 were elderly and trying to enjoy their afternoon). It's a Thursday afternoon. We were being courteous to any smaller groups behind us. If you don't want slow players, don't be a public course. After spending a few hundred dollars, the customer service from the front desk was quite disappointing.

Yelp
Rooms are newly renovated and beautiful! Golf course is challenging and well maintained. Staff were great and gave my husband a sweet note and toffee for his birthday. The view of the marsh is wonderful for your morning coffee. Will be back!

Yelp
The emergence of Sago at Sea Palms as a premier restaurant on St Simons Island has taken another giant leap forward. My wife and I attended a plated themed dinner on Thursday January 21 which was prepared by Chief Culinary Chef Johnny Carino. The meal, consisting of a medley of Italian meats and Artisan cheeses, steamed Virginia clams, a panko crusted bone-in pork chop and a chocolate tort dessert was superb. Each course was paired with a craft beer from Pretoria Farms brewery our of Albany, GA. Very creative and not your normal paired servings, but the pairing were very complementary. The clams were served with a broth that accented the sweet flavors of the clams. The pork chop was cooked to perfection and melted in your mouth. The entire meal was a treat. I highly recommend this new jewel for your dining experience. Sago at Seal Palms.

Yelp
The newly remodeled rooms are great! Great location where you can get to beach in about 15 minutes. I would stay again soon!

Yelp
I was very happy with my stay at the Sea Palms Resort. I travel with my dog, and she was welcomed, no questions asked. The staff were friendly and accommodating. When I checked into my room, the door would not lock, so I called the office and they sent a maintenance person within minutes and he had it fixed in a jiffy. The room was spacious and clean. The only reason I did not give this property 5 stars is that it is a little dated. Although the tub was clean, it was stained. Same for the grout in the bathroom floor. The closet door was off the track. Little things that don't necessarily bother me, but also don't merit 5 stars. I just needed a room and did not use the golf course or other amenities. All in all, I would definitely stay at this property again.

Yelp
The food here was outstanding. We had our Family Reunion Brunch here. So there was a group of 100 plus. The food was wonderful. The staff was awesome. The atmosphere was wonderful. We really enjoyed it.

Yelp
After their recent golf course makeover, including a spectacular practice faculty, effort has been going into dramatic improvement in their dining, pro shop, workout facility and lodging There's something going on every evening at the lounge, New menus have really raised the expectations standard in selections, quality and service. This is not your parents Sea Palms anymore !

Yelp
Stay in the deluxe condo unit. Three bedroom three bath with full kitchen and laundry. I have to say that the reviews I read of this place kinda of had me worried. I was there for a conference so I didn't have a choice. The room was tastefully decorated and clean. TV's in the place were out dated. 32" CRT and even a 19" CRT dvd combo in one of the rooms. Man really if you are going to update a place, at least put in electronics that coincide with the decade you live in. Nice and quiet place. Not many complainants. Maids came in and cleaned every day which was awesome. Towels in the bathroom were plentiful but a little on the crispy/worn out side. I was watching tv one night I out of the corner of my eye I saw something crawling on the floor. After using the room guide to kill that roach, I was kinda of disappointed. Maybe it was a fluke because roaches are everywhere but I haven't seen one in a room that was as nice as this one before. In fact I have stayed in rooms in which I was pretty sure a murder occurred in the past and there was not roaches.

Janis H.

Yelp
I can't speak to the resort, but while house hunting we stopped into Sea Palms restaurant and met Marian, the bartender. We immediately felt welcome for the first time. Not only did she make us believe we belonged here, she was the reason we decided to join Sea Palms Country Club. That was almost 2 years ago and we are now thrilled to be a part of SSI and Sea Palms Country Club.

Yelp
Searching for a location about halfway between Chapel Hill and the Keys and found Sea Palm Resort. It's in between Savannah and Jacksonville, FL. Wish we had more time to walk around and use the amenities. Room was nice and comfortable and had a nice view of river. Looks like a beautiful golf course that I could loose a dozen golf balls at. Many, many nice house as well. Looks like another long weekend hideaway with wife in the future.

Andy W.

Yelp
Let's be clear about one thing -- the Sea Palms is not a posh beach resort. The resort offers no beachfront and is actually tucked away a mile or so deep in one of the island's residential neighborhoods. Other reviews are correct that it feels a bit dated -- the building containing my suite may have actually begun life as a small '70's era apartment complex -- but my room was nice and had clearly been renovated within the past year or two. The suite (an "executive king") was essentially a one-bedroom apartment, with 2 balconies (one screened, one not) overlooking scenic marshland. It featured a full kitchenette, a large living room/dining area, and a bathroom/dressing room that was nicer than my own at home, all at a cost that saved me about $50/night over some of the other options on St. Simon's. I was there for the 27 hole golf course, and if you are too, you won't be disappointed. The rounds were expensive even by Atlanta standards, but the course was maintained at a level consistent with the price. On the whole, the resort was very quiet during the weekend that I stayed so most of the facilities (pool, restaurant, etc.) were empty. I could see where non-golfing guests would be disappointed. If you're considering a stay at the Sea Palm, ask yourself why you're going to St. Simon's. If it's for a few rounds of top-notch golf, you're looking for a quite home base, and you don't mind driving 10 minutes for food, drinks, beach, etc., then you'll probably be happy here. If you want your room to have closer proximity to the beaches, or the restaurants and shops downtown, or if you want a more pampered resort experience, then there are probably better options.

Yelp
Nice grounds but horribly outdated rooms. If you want to jump back into the 80's, hang out with roaches, drink out of Dixie cups ithe room, and watch a 19" CRT tv... Go for it!

Yelp
Nice grounds, clean rooms, GREAT staff. But, it's not on the beach. In fact it's not even walking distance. It's about a 10 min drive to St. Simon's Island beach. My sister stayed and had her wedding reception here. The food was pretty yummy, and I believe it was a decent price. We had to setup the room though as far as table clothes and chair covers...which meant we also had to take them down too. They only have white table clothes, so if you want an accent color to go with your themed decor, you have to bring them yourself and put them on yourself. Not how I would have preferred to spend my time before and after the wedding, but it had to be done.

Yelp
If I had been footing the bill instead of my conference then would really be disapointed. Would rate similar to an older Best Western. Aged property. Surprised no ceiling fan in any room. House keeping was great. Air went out Friday night and was told ( despite beefing sold out ) no maintenance available and no room to move to; endured 90 degrees in room with no fan; did open sliding door to rotten wooded screen porch but rain spout loud drip was tough. Good news was fixed by Noon. Will not stay here again unless no options for conference.

Yelp
For the price point we thought this hotel was great. It is a little 70's looking but it's clean, the rooms are nice, the bed is comfortable, the A/C worked great. We had a screened in balcony overlooking the golf course. It is quiet and low key. The pier/village is a 10 min ride but a taxi there will cost $15 total for two people. The people who work at the restaurant/bar were extremely helpful and friendly in helping us get oriented to the island. One tip for being on Saint Simon's Island is to bring bottled water. The tap water on the island doesn't taste good.

Yelp
I don't get the love affair golfers have going with this place. Needless to say, I don't play golf. As a hotel it is just average. There are much nicer places on the island, though in some of the rooms the bathrooms are quite nice (and large)

Yelp
Stayed the weekend in the king suite. Complaints: There is alot of construction going on, there is no hot tub, the tvs were small and old. For what we paid we could have stayed somewhere much nicer. Compliments: The room was clean and i liked that there were 2 balconies.

Yelp
This is the second conference I've attended here and the food, conference venues, and staff are great. Apparently I'm staying in an older suite because although it is neat, the room is outdated and not very "fresh" St. Simons is a charming place to visit.

Yelp
Three of us played this course for our first time a few weeks ago and enjoyed it very much. I always appreciate being able to play new courses and it was in pretty good shape.

Yelp
One word describes this place...DUMP. Old, outdated rooms, peeling wallpaper, dirty carpet, cabinetry at least 20 years old with the wear and tear to prove it. Stairs, elevators and walkways are nasty and in poor shape. Construction material blocking parking areas. Debris on the ground. It just looks as though they are squeezing the last few dollars out of it before they use it for a controlled burn to let the fire department to practice on. Steer clear of this place. It is quite possible though that they gave us this room because we booked through a 3rd party site.

Yelp
Booking an Event: The wedding I was attending at the resort was booked months in advance. About two weeks prior, the resort decided to change the reception venue to a smaller one without consulting with the wedding party. With such short notice, finding a new location and arranging everything again was next to impossible. The wedding party had to make the best out of a bad situation. Room Reservations: I made room reservations about a month and half out from the event. The reservation confirmation stated cancellations had to be made no later than 14 days from the date of my stay. I cancelled my room reservation 3 weeks from my scheduled stay. The charges were never refunded to my credit card. After speaking with the resort, they told me that although their policy is 14 days and the confirmation for my room stated 14 days, they would not refund my money. After taking days to return my phone calls, the manager of reservations stated that although their policy is 14 days and the email confirmation stated 14 days, the room rate was a special rate and was non refundable. I explained the emails and their policy lead me to believe this wasn't the case. I mean it stated in everything that was emailed to me, that I could cancel without penalty Management/Customer Service: Trying to discuss issues with management is extraordinarily difficult. It took the manager of reservations multiple messages over a number of days to return my phone call. When he finally did, he was not interested in customer satisfaction. Based on the misunderstanding, I would have taken half of the total cost and been happy. After all, I'm half at fault for the misunderstanding. The resort's mistake was emailing me I had the luxury of the 14 day cancellation policy. Even after admitting the mistake, the manager was not interested in any solution that would work for both us. I then tried discussing the matter with the General Manager of the resort. I have left multiple messages over the course of weeks on his voice mail and have still not received a phone call. This is the first negative review I have ever written. Most mistakes, misunderstandings, what have you, there is usually a solution that both parties can live with. Up until my experience with this resort, I have always been able to find that common ground. Customer satisfaction goes a long way and as of now I would say there are no redeeming qualities about this resort.

Yelp
The most unprofessional hotel I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with. They took cash off a credit card and issued a confirmed booking in November last year for 2 rooms, only to be told today, shortly before the check in date, that they've cancelled it. Never, any where in the world, have I experienced this! If you want to book with this establishment; roll the dice and take your chances, but you better have an added hotel booking just in case. An absolutely pathetic bunch!

Yelp
My daughter woke up with some sort of mite bite--chiggers maybe. Doesn't matter, the point is we asked for a refund and talked to multiple managers and they refuse to do anything. I am puzzled at the lack of customer service; not even an attempt to "make things right."

Yelp
We have photographed many weddings at Sea Palms Resort. Their food is outstanding. The best. The coordinators are always there when you need them. They are friendly, organized and experienced.

Yelp
Undergoing major renovation of conference center and "Putters Club". Small 30 seat green room open as restaurant and bar. Food by chef Jesse is just great. The golf is pretty good too.
