Food was okay. Overpriced, and over fried fish and chips 🤢 Why did we come here? Because the nice restaurant by the bay doesn’t like 🐶!

Erin Fieberling

Google
The worst shrimp salad sandwich I ever had. This place used to be good :,(

Google
Ok so full transparency. We did not know what to order. So we ordered just about everything! All items were absolutely fresh out the fryer. The batter was light and crisp to a perfection. Prawns were my favorite! We were literally driving by and decided, this place looks amazing! Do we stopped and we were not disappointed! If we are ever in the area this place will be a spot we show others. The good food came out rather quickly. The vibe was just perfect here!!

Google
Great sandwiches, great burgers, great staff. These days, I often ride my bike from SF and head down the Bay Trail when I get to the East Bay and love that they're right along this path, when I definitely need a meal after 40 ish miles. Though I have been going since the late 2000s when I was in college.

Google
Great fish fry sort of spot. I had calamari that was perfectly crisp. Tons of tables, in the shade and exposed that overlook the bay trail.

Google
Loved this spot! It's a walk up deli with fresh fish tacos and shrimp sandwiches. The sauce was like none other. I liked the sitting area outside a d looking at the view of the bay, people watching. The staff was really nice and the food was packed with awesome flavor. It was a nice stop in a long scenic walk. It doesn't look like much from the outside but there is flavor talent in there.

Google
One of my absolute favorite spots in Berkeley. I thoroughly regret passing this bike path Oasis by for 2 years before stopping in. Great outdoor seating, staff are good natured, and the menu will hit the spot whether you want a healthy smoothie to fuel your ride, a modello tallboy, or a burger and fries to reward your efforts. There's plenty of parking for those on 4 wheels looking for a bite/beverage on their way to/from Caesar Chavez Park, Berkeley Marina, Cal Sailing club, the Marriot or the great toddler playground nearby the marina. You won't regret stopping by.

Google
Made a quick stop because I was curious about what they sold here. They have a many menu items from sandwiches to fried food accompanied with cold slaw and fries. Lots of options for candies, drinks and snacks to take on the go which looked pretty tempting. I purchased a carrot cake for the road and will have to come back to try out the food. I appreciated the background music and it seems like a nice spot to sit, eat and decompress.

Yelp
Lobster Roll is everything you'd hope for. Juicy, buttery, and tender. Love the outdoor seating in the afternoon. Location tends to be relaxing, even with the patio music. Bring some sunglasses, and a friend to share with. I love coming here with one other so we can go half and half, because everything is delicious. Only thing is, it is a bit pricey. I feel like you're paying for the location. Other than that, it truly hits that "seafood" craving (iykyk)

Yelp
Small market deli on the side of the road (down the road from Skates). Stopped here when exploring the Berkeley Marina area. Shared a hot dog, fries, and a crab salad sandwich. All were your standard foods with standard flavors (nothing stood out). Order your food at the register and then they'll call you to get your food and drinks. There's also a convenience store aspect with different things like candy, chips, etc. Good place to stop by if you want a quick picnic, quick bite to eat, grab some food to go to eat at Caesar Chavez Park, etc. Parking is available via a dirt parking lot behind the market. We saw families, couples, bikers, etc. Ambiance is super relaxed.

Monique A.

Yelp
Frozen drinks are amazing. I just don't care for store purchased frozen fish and fries over deep-fried then resold to me for a much more expensive price. Did I mention that the frozen drinks are excellent?

Lisa S.

Yelp
This is in regards to my too. Too good to go pick up from seabreeze market and deli. it was for a surprise bag of their leftover pasties from the previous day. It was a bag filled with so many of their baked goods and they were delish. I will say the thick cute of the cake with light frosting was very dry. Everything else was really good. I feel the bars were very well made as they have a cookie pie crust type of thing going on. It was so tasty and crunchy and sweet! I would def grab another surprise bag from them! They do have a huge whole menu that you can buy many other hot food items and other hot plates. Check em out for yourself!

Sharon J.

Yelp
I ordered wings and fries, prawns and fries and oysters and fries and 3 clam chowders. Food here used to be really good but not today. The wings were good but the shrimp and oysters were fried way too hard. Won't be going back.

Yelp
I was in the area and wanted to grab a quick bite and decided to try this place out. I ordered a catfish (a la carte) and a chicken salad sandwich. Catfish - this was breaded and extremely greasy. I had to use 10 napkins to try to soak up some of the oil. The breading had no flavor, just grease. The catfish was cooked well inside. I would have preferred to not have the greasy breading and just have the fish instead at that point. Chicken salad sandwich - they ran out of French roll and suggested white bread. The sandwich was as small as one I could just make at home. It was very bland with no seasoning/nor flavor. Sadly, Subway makes better sandwiches which says a lot. This was $20 not well spent at all. I generally love to support mom and pop places, but this was pretty bad.

Tim M.

Yelp
Ordered a crab salad sandwich and asked for no onions on the sandwich. When order came, took it to my car and half way to home when I bit into the sandwich I found out that the crab salad was loaded with onions! I really think that the server should have said something before taking my order. To top it off the sandwich is $21! Ended up throwing it in the trash when I got home. An uncaring attitude is what sinks so many places!

Patrick S.

Yelp
Anything other than a two star rating regarding the food is a scam. I ordered the crabcakes and the prawn and rice when I opened up the crabcakes there was nothing in there but rice and scraps of imitation crab meat that were barely visible. The prawn were super tough, and after eating about two of them, my head started hurting. I will say the young dude that I spoke with about the crabcakes was very polite and they offer a replacement, but after trying both of the dishes, I politely declined and did not ask for a refund. I just threw it all in the trash.

Susan S.

Yelp
We went to grab a bite. Was shocked on the portion size ...yikes $18 for chips and hardly any fish. Well to add more the oil was old-timmy wasnt happy. .... Not like it used to be....

Ko V.

Yelp
This spot is so cute with a beautiful view! I got the Italian sandwich and cup of clam chowder!

Yelp
I've driven past Sea Breeze quite a few times in my life and never was able to actually stop and enjoy. I decided to take a trip out to Berkeley with the kids to see what this deli is all about. Its pretty windy so bring a light coat for sitting outside. Whether the sun is shining or not its a bit chilly outside. I ordered the Crab Salad Sandwich with avocado. They forgot the avocado. I was disappointed. The Crab salad was flavorless. Its a mediocre sandwich. I also ordered a side of catfish. It was best part of my meal and if I come back next time I'm getting a catfish sandwich or just a pile of catfish. My son got a cheeseburger with fries. Their fries are excellent. He enjoyed his burger. My daughter got a turkey sandwich with regular fix'ns and she added avocado. They didn't for get her avocado. IT was quite a large sandwich and she saved half for later. I ordered a side of Red Velvet Cake. I'm sad to report that this was also not good. It didn't have that classic rich but subtle chocolate flavor that Red Velvet should have. It tasted like shampoo and nothing like Red Velvet Cake. I'm not above coming back and trying other things on the menu. Definitely going to get more Catfish.

LaTanya G.

Yelp
Stopped here to grab a smoothie. It's definitely a hidden gem with great customer service. We went on a walk to see what's in the area and stumbled across this place. They offer nice bites and drinks. Also, you can grab some needed snacks. We ordered the smoothies pictured below. I got the mocha drink which consisted of expresso and ice cream.

Simba G.

Yelp
Calamari and fries are excellent! Convenient location. Calamari sandwiches are also good. Absolutely love the calamari with fries. Finally took a picture

Yelp
The ambience of this cute little place near berkeley marina is a beachy feel it's outdoorsy and it is on the corner of University Ave & Frontage road. It is a very relaxing vibe. You could hear the cars passing from the freeway but you also hear the train passing, the birds/seagulls chirping in the background. It is so beautiful outside when the sun hits it's just so nice. You walk up to the counter order your food pay for it they give you your ticket with a number on it find your seat outside and then they call your number when the foods ready, The calamari is delicious, it's tender, light and cooked perfect!!! The Clam chowder is soooooooo good! Creamy, light, fluffy, full of clam chowders, potatoes, & vegetables. Hands down, it is the best clam chowder I have tried in the Bay Area in awhile!!! Yummy. If you're ever in the area, stop by and give it a try, you will not be disappointed!!

Kayla ..

Yelp
Nice little place to stop by on a warm sunny day after I got off work! I got a smoothie and fries :)

Bee K.

Yelp
Haven't been here in years and it's still yummy! I had the prawn sandwich and it's lite but delicious. I must say I've been two weeks in a row to get this sandwich. Both times very good. Sit outside and dip your fries in ketchup while enjoying the breeze. People are nice. But when in the area drive safe and don't Hollywood those stop signs, motorcycle cops don't play.

Yelp
Just wanted to make a note here that they offer a combo in person which is a few dollars less than ordering the items separately, but you can't order the combo on Grubhub. Maybe they will see this post and update options. Everyone was nice and the food is fine.

Yelp
So, I order from the TooGoodToGo App, expecting a meal (which they state they serve on the app) or pasta salad, or some other kind of leftover food, as that is what the app intended for and there seemed to be plenty of leftover, restaurant made food in the cold cases. I was right on time for my pickup and they gave me a big brown paper bag and then the teen behind the counter threw a muffin in the bag. "Cool!" I thought walking back to my car with this hefty bag. I open it to reveal a bag of fresh sandwich rolls... store bought, (not even close to the expiration date). You guys, this is not what the app is intended for. The app is to get people to pick up food that you're unable to keep and serve the next day- like the muffin that was placed in there. Now, I could see *if* they didn't have anything to give so the teen was doing his best to just fulfill the order. *BUT* there is a place on the app (on the restaurant's end) where they can state there is nothing to give that day, perfectly fine. No harm no foul. So not only did I not get to really try your restaurant's food, (which is also what the app is for), it also kind of left a bad taste in my mouth... We ate the buns- we aren't going to let them go to waste, but it was pretty disappointing because we did want to sample their actual food at the very least. So just be aware, if you're ordering from the TooGoodToGo App, surprise!! You might get a plain ole bag of buns and not even get to try what they actually make themselves. Bummer! Probably won't be back based off that experience. 2 stars for the decent store bought buns. 0 for the restaurant as I have no idea what they actually taste like. ‍

Yelp
We have passed by this place a million times on our way to and from the marina. For some reason we never stopped to try it, until today. So tasty, great service. I got the prawn sandwich, hubby got the fried catfish plate, I was adventurous and got a chai latte. It was all good. Served fast (especially considering it's made to order). The French fries were notably good and the chai was surprisingly good as well. Fun and easy sitting outside with tie rambunctious kids. Definitely incorporating into our marina routine. Definitely

Yelp
This stopover at the corner of University Ave. and Frontage Rd. Along Freeway 80 was a welcomed site! We ordered the onion rings, and my boys wolfed it down and leaving Dad with only the crumbs. It was hot and crunchy! The grill chicken sandwich had the char-grill that brought the freshness and flavor of the warm chicken out. The home made clam chowder was a welcome addition since the clams were good size, and mixed with the potato chunks for a very flavorful experience. Then my oldest boy shared his bacon cheeseburger with the van floor when it wasn't wrapped-saved too well, and down to the floor it went. This is a nice place to and from The Berkeley Marina. Thank you Jesus!

Yelp
First time here at sea breeze deli. I have to say this little store has a lot of good delicious sandwiches menu to chose from. I tried their avocado sandwich with fries and it tasted really good! They also have good selections of beverages to chose from cold beers to hot coffee depending what your in the mood for. And the service is great!! Best of all they have nice benches to seat at while enjoying the sunny warm weather in Berkeley.

Pablo R.

Yelp
I ordered 3 sandwiches, 2 salami and 1 shrimp salad sandwich. 2 hours after each the shrimp sandwich, my lady got stomach sick. I tried calling but their phone was disconnected. I arrived and asked to speak to the head guy with the glasses to tell him. He was immediately defensive and started making me out to be lying. He said no one had called to report any problems and they had been taking orders over the phone. When I told him call it right now, he got a busy signal on speakerphone. He then asked me, "What do you want, free healthcare?" I replied, "just refund the shrimp sandwich and we'll be good." His response was, "Then where's the sandwich?" Look man, you don't believe your customers but you won't even eat a spoonful of your shrimp either. My reviews are the truth on my experiences. Word to the wise, do NOT eat the seafood here.

Scarlett L.

Yelp
Sea Breeze used to be very high in my rotation of lunch spots, but now sadly they have gotten rid of their egg breakfast sandwiches (that you could order all day) and now there isn't anything I love here. I know a breakfast sandwich from a seafood place might sound odd, but the bacon they had was amazing! Soft roll, perfectly fluffy scrambled eggs, and american cheese. It was also a pretty stellar value compared to most all of the other offerings. Unlike a lot of recent negative reviews, I really like the renovation. It feels more clean and open than it used to. Just unfortunate for me that they got rid of the section of the menu I ordered from. The only other item I like a bit is the fried prawn sandwich, but it's not a great value for the amount it costs and the few shrimp in it. The chicken fingers are definitely bagged frozen, so a bad value. My boyfriend likes their cheeseburger and fried catfish, so I'm sure we'll be back at some point. Hopefully they'll bring back the breakfast sandwiches some day...

Ric L.

Yelp
Not sure what's going on with old or new management but I like the old Sea Breeze better. Gone digital. They have more beer in the cooler than they do food on the menu. Just saying.

Sia P.

Yelp
Best crab sandwich's on Dutch Crunch besides fisherman's wharf . Also super great service ! Great spot to visit for lunch or early dinner !

Mindy L.

Yelp
Found this after going for a walk around the Berkeley Marina and got a banana spilt milkshake that hit the spot. Heads up there is an $8 minimum if you're making with card. This is a family run business that started 25 years ago and still running strong and safe through covid. Perfect spot to grab some food and refreshments for a picnic along the shore!

Johnny M.

Yelp
Seabreeze is a popular shack on the entrance to Berkeley Marina for cyclists and visitors. The most popular item is the catfish sandwich. Unfortunately, it does not come with chips or a drink, so you'd have to grab something from the counter. A meal can easily land you north of $20, which is pricey for a place with minimal furnishings and service. Things that would make this an enjoyable place to hang out would be a set of rotating draft beers and ice cream dispenser.

Liliana C.

Yelp
Food was delicious. We had two different sandwiches. The fries were perfect! This location is at a busy intersection with outdoor sitting, meant for a quick bite. Staff was really friendly and food came out quickly. Recommend to eat everything when it's warm, as it can get a little soggy. I'll definitely be coming back

Noelle S.

Yelp
The best Turkey Avocado sandwich and fries! Customer service is pleasant. Highly recommend this place!

Camille R.

Yelp
Found really gross brown avocado in my BLT. Sucks I paid extra for it. Took it off and the BLT tasted great!

Doug E.

Yelp
OMFG I get to eat a crab again. What a deal too. These guys charged $16.50 for half a steamed crab drenched in garlic and curiously yellow sauce that I cannot quite define. First the crab was cooked beautifully. It took probably 10 minutes to get our order so.they didn't have time to cook from raw in my opinion but certainly it wasn't cooked too much earlier because the meat was still super moist. But then again I've seen quick turnaround with folks using the Cleveland Steamers. Crab, yellow sauce (more on this), lemon, two meat skewers and the container is all you get. But what I got was great. Garlic was preminced jar variety and I didn't mind. As a kid growing up eating out was an exception so I tended to collect those flavor profiles. And the distinct flavors, texture and size was a dead giveaway. Onto the yellow sauce. I just can't tell what this is. At first I thought butter, but didn't have the right consistency. Then clarified butter but that wasn't bc when I placed it in the fridge...nothing. Not that butter popcorn oil nor any type of regular oil. There must be some crab butter sauce that I haven't seen before. Reply back if you can help me identify. What a bargain, and for me hit the right chords. Went back to a rock and demolished the whole thing. I'm puzzled so if anyone knows

J H.

Yelp
Best fried catfish sandwich I've ever had! Like yummm with some hot sauce. Crazy good. Great clam chowder if that's what you're craving. The fried prawns are delicious a la cart as well. Round it out with a solid crab sandwich. Only feedback would be maybe a tad more crab on that sando. Other than that a quick, easy and delish stop off the 80 at University if you're craving seafood!

Amber T.

Yelp
What I love most about this place is that food is cooked to order, so yes you may have to way 10-15 minutes, but it's HOT and fresh. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 is because I need to experiment more with their menu, I tend to only get crab related dishes. There's an outdoor area but not one with a view, and the parking lot is a dirt road so depending on when you go could be hard to walk through. I haven't been in a few months but last time I went there were a lot of flies outside as well, so maybe not the best place to eat at outside but this place is staple in the east bay and I'll be going back soon.

Andrianne B.

Yelp
Order whole crab..$54!!!!! The crab was not clean..small crab. Total with garlic bread..57! This item is definitely NOT worth it.

Nancy W.

Yelp
Great smoothies and lovely atmosphere after a walk or ride around the marina Onion rings were a hit Sandwiches looked amazing but didn't try on this visit

May Z.

Yelp
I'm not gonna lie, I was hesitant to try this place because the location being right off the freeway didn't really draw me in. I was wrong 100%. I am so glad my friend convinced me to go. This is now my new favorite deli. They have tons of options for sandwiches. They also make various sides and fish and chips, shrimp cocktail etc. They have an adorable coffee bar where they also make smoothies and milk shakes. The little check out kiosk is surrounded in plexi so thats great for their staff's safety. They have picnic tables outside that I actually really enjoyed sitting at. I got a hot pastrami and the sauce to meat to veggie ratio was perfect for me. I admit I am a sandwich snob and they exceeded my expectations. My friend suggested I try a piece of his fried catfish, which I usually wouldn't because I don't usually enjoy white fish, cooked fish, or fried fish. I was pleasantly surprised. It didn't have a super fishy flavor and the breading/ fry was light and crunchy! I can't wait to go back!

Alexandra G.

Yelp
Stopped by this place since it was close to our hotel. Easy to find and plenty of parking. Plenty of outdoor seating. I ordered the fried oysters combo and the crab cakes a la carte. I wasn't a big fan of the fried oysters, but really enjoyed the crab cakes. The cakes were very flavorful and so delicious. The fries were just so so.

David N.

Yelp
My planned walk down the Eastshore trail was fueled by the Yelp by Rachel M. Her review of the Fried Catfish was the incentive trek to Sea Breeze. Decided on the Fried Cod. Hot and moist. A nice crispy batter with fresh fries. I savored every bite. There's a mouth watering menu with a crab sandwich, fried oysters, calamari, and steamed crabs. I need to keep these in mind for my future visits.

Lisa F.

Yelp
We had a very nice lunch at the Sea Breeze Market & Deli! I have been stopping by here for years for a good cup of coffee. The coffee never disappoints. This was actually a planned stop because I had an adventurous visitor from out of town, had business up that way, and wanted to give the food a try. We were both very happy with our choices! My friend had the fish & chips (the fries were really good). I had the crab sandwich with everything on it. It was really tasty. The portions were generous, and everything tasted very fresh. My iced coffee was very good. The folks that work there are very friendly and helpful. It takes a little while because they don't have a lot of staff, but it's totally worth it to just kick back while they make everything from scratch. Yes, there is a homeless encampment nearby but it did not hamper our experience. I have a very sensitive nose and all I could smell was the sea air and of course a little bit of the car exhaust since it is right by the freeway. I like this place. I hope it's always here for me to stop by when I have to run an errand up that way.

Kyle B.

Yelp
So sad. Up until today this place was always somewhere I wanted to visit again. I had fond memories of their flavorful loaded crab salad sandwich. It was the best and only seafood sandwich that I spoke highly of, plus being near the water, it was a location that remained in my head as a great place. Today, I found out, they don't have the quality food as they used to. I spent $18.99 for the crab salad sandwich because i haven't been here in over 5 years, but figured it would be their most well known and famous sandwich, and the price of it was way higher than the other sandwiches. I was wrong. The crab salad was dry, flavorless and loaded with other filler crap. Writing this review to hopefully stop people from wasting their money on the crab salad sandwich. Or as least show the workers this post and see what they say, maybe they'll rethink their ingredients? Good luck Seabreeze. I'll likely never visit you again.

Rida R.

Yelp
I love their smoothies here so tasty. I don't come here as often as I'd like but today I came for a walk and stopped by at this place for lunch . I always remember the first time I had a smoothie here in 6th grade I was on a biking field trip and I had the best strawberry smoothie. Anyway today I ordered a pina colada, cod fish burger, and a medium macaroni salad. Everything was amazing except the burger was alright. It wasn't that amazing it was bland, the tarter sauce was very runny and dripping I'm used to getting thick sauces. It was just mediocre. It also gave my an awful yet bearable stomach ache. But either way it won't stop me from coming here 10/10 costumer service friendly staff and again the smoothies I highly recommend.

Claudine V.

Yelp
Team came here to enjoy nice lunch outside the office. Most of us rode bikes to get here which is not very far... give or take about 2 miles from our office. The team pre-ordered as there was 20 of us. We ordered different kinds of burgers, sandwiches, fish and chips and sweet potato fries. Food was good. My Catfish was good and it came with fries. I ordered additional sweet potato fries or the team and they were delish. My coworker ordered the burger but said it was a little dry instead of juicy because it was grilled?? Remember this team is bunch of food scientists and product developers so everyone was very critical about their food. Tables and chairs for everyone but not a lot of shaded area. Parking is easy. Might come back here again and try their oysters. Trust!

Rachel M.

Yelp
I love the catfish here and try to get it every time I'm traveling along Gilman St. to escape the crazy 80W traffic. Sea breeze is a cafe on the side of Gilman St. that has a variety of good fried seafood, burgers, sandwiches, soups, snacks, etc. It's a good place to stop by after biking, walking running, or just hanging by the bay. The catfish is what I've gotten every time - it's served piping hot, flavorful, crispy, flaky and hits the spot. It also comes with hot crispy fries and coleslaw. Grab a seat on the outdoor picnic tables and just people watch and enjoy your yummy food.

Peter C.

Yelp
Best chicken fried steak sandwich and smoothies around! Really friendly service as well and a fantastic location.

Jenna J.

Yelp
First time going here in three decades of living in the Bay Area. For some reason this feels like a beachy oceanside food shack, although it's nowhere near the ocean. It is near the Berkeley Marina and Brickyard Park. Good enough for me. My avocado sandwich was good, and with potato chips I was quite happy. Templeton had a burger and thought it was both tasty and a good value. Her Majesty had two juicy puppy patties. I am so grateful to all the restaurants that serve puppy patties. Heartwarming!

Charlotte T.

Yelp
Like the other reviews say this place is not the same. I'll check the one out in Oakland, they have a view too.

Platinum R.

Yelp
I use to eat here years ago. I thought it would be good to check it out for lunch. To see if it was the same from over 15 years. The look in the inside was not pleasing. Empty food displays and not kept. I wanted a salad and they didn't have any. I ordered two shrimp orders. Very small container of potato salad and fruit salad with order. There was only two people that included me and one other. We waited over 15 minutes as more people came and left. Twenty minutes later, they call my number. The shrimps were large but not to my liking. The oil it was cooked in was not fresh. I will not recommend this place and I will never go back. Unless it's under new ownership.

Komodo K.

Yelp
Ain't what it used to be, that's all I gots to say but the review needs at least 85 characters.
