Seaburry - Review - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Seaburry is a rare bread: not only is it one of the few Sri Lankan restaurants in LA, it's also the most colorful (that we know of). This multi-colored Westwood restaurant brands itself as a fine dining experience and offers a hodgepodge menu with lamprais and string hopper pilaf, but also caesar salads and tom yum soup (made with Sri Lankan spices). In other words, the menu reads as eclectic as the purple, green, and yellow wall paint choices. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Team Infatuation

It was a very nice experience to dine here with my friend for our first time. The staff was very friendly and explained the dishes very well. My friend ordered the mixed seafood play and I ordered the lamb chops, we shared a fried rice with chicken. Everything was tasty and cooked well. They were so nice and offered us a complimentary dessert which was our creme brulee, yummy treat! I will definitely be back.

This Sri Lankan restaurant in the heart of Westwood is an absolute gem. The vibrant interior instantly lifts your mood, and the staff are consistently warm, kind, and professional. Every dish we tried was outstanding—especially the butter chicken, which was exceptionally flavorful, and the spring rolls, which were truly phenomenal. They also offer kid-friendly options and are happy to adjust spice levels to your taste. If you’re anywhere near Westwood, this spot is an absolute must-try.

We had our school OBA get-together at this restaurant, and everything was organized just the way we wanted. The Sri Lankan food was delicious, the customer service was excellent, and the atmosphere was really nice. Highly recommended!

Today I came to this restaurant for my lunch. It is a restaurant that serves Sri Lankan food. When I came here, I saw a restaurant that was beautifully decorated with masks from Sri Lankan dance traditions and paintings that are unique to Sri Lanka. This is a restaurant with very attractive decorations. I ordered and tasted a few dishes today, and they were very delicious. Everyone working in the restaurant is very kind and friendly. Especially Kamal Sahodara is a person who does his job well. This place is kept very clean. I kindly request you to come and taste the beauty and food of this place. I wish you all the best for this business guys ..!

This was my first experience with Sri Lankan food, and I'm happy to report this was a great introduction to the cuisine! The interior is welcoming and the manager and staff were very friendly and made some recommendations for us. We got the Lamprise and savory sampler. Both were delicious, especially the calamari in the sampler, but if you're getting the Lamprise , I'd say dont get the sampler since there is considerable overlap in the fried items. I will definitely be returning to try other seafood on the menu!

Google
This was the first Sri Lankan restaurant I visited in my life, and before that, I had never thought about what the cuisine of this country tasted like. When we arrived here, it was around 3pm. There were no other customers in the restaurant. We selected a few items from the menu. Although the taste was not very surprising, fortunately, there were no major problems either. It should be considered to be in line with expectations! The gentleman who served us was very conscientious, which deserves praise!

From the moment we sat down, I knew this was going to be more than just another dinner—it felt like an experience. The restaurant itself is a feast for the eyes, with walls decorated in colorful Sri Lankan dance masks and paintings that immediately set a vibrant, welcoming atmosphere. It’s the kind of place where you can feel the thought and care put into every detail, and it makes you want to take a moment just to look around before even opening the menu. And then came the food. We didn’t hold back—we ordered a little bit of everything—and I’m so glad we did. The seafood platter was absolutely to die for, fresh and seasoned perfectly. The fried rice was another standout; it’s easily one of the top three versions I’ve ever had, and I find myself craving it even now. The chicken alfredo was rich, creamy, and cheesy in all the right ways, pure comfort food done right. My boyfriend ordered the surf and turf, and the portion was so large he ended up turning it into two meals—something that rarely happens with him! What impressed me just as much as the food was the hospitality. The staff didn’t just serve us; they celebrated with us. They arranged everything so beautifully for our family gathering, and when they surprised my mom with flowers for her birthday, it turned what was already a wonderful night into an unforgettable one. The service was flawless—attentive, kind, and thoughtful in ways you don’t always see. And then there were the drinks. Oh my goodness, the drinks. The iced coffee in particular was heavenly—so good that I joked about ordering it by the liter. Every drink we tried had bold, unique flavors, and sharing them with my family became its own little adventure at the table. It wasn’t just about sipping something tasty; it was about experiencing a variety of flavors together, which made it all the more fun. By the end of the night, I realized this wasn’t just a great meal—it was one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in a very long time. From the stunning décor and unforgettable food to the generous portions, creative drinks, and truly heartfelt service, this restaurant has it all. It’s a place that makes you feel special, whether you’re celebrating a milestone or just enjoying a night out. I can’t wait to come back, because I already know this won’t be a one-time visit.

Google
Excellent place with a wonderful vibe! The atmosphere was welcoming and perfect for families. My kids as well as the rest of my family thoroughly enjoyed every dish we tried. We had the rice and curry, koththu paratha, and butter chicken—each one was packed with flavor and absolutely delicious. The spices were well-balanced, and the portions were generous. Definitely a spot we’ll be returning to. Highly recommended!

Yelp
Lovely little Sri Lankan restaurant with friendly and attentive service, a wide menu of Sri Lankan and other menu items, and a nice ambiance. I enjoyed the Amma's favorites platter of Sri Lankan street food: an egg paratha (lightly salted, folded into a rectangle), a roti, lightly sliced lentil stew, coconut sambal (bright, a little crunchy, a big tangy, a bit spicy), and chicken curry (big hunks of very tender peppery and spicy chicken with some gravy). You can choose other proteins but I really enjoyed the chicken. I would have liked a little rice but really, no complaints!

Yelp
Newish restaurant in Westeood, with colorful decor. Not a lot of Sri Lankan restaurants, so I was excited to try it (also on InKind if you want a discount). For 2 of us, we ordered (had leftovers): - Kothu parotta with lamb (roti cut up pieces and cooked with egg, veggie, seasoning) - so good! Hard to go wrong with this, we added beef. - Dungenes crab with coconut curry $75 - the sauce on this was soooo good. I used it with the kothu parotta as well. They give you plastic bib and gloves, as well as the crab cracking/picking tool. Crab tasted fresh and was well cooked. Service was friendly, I saw they were also doing a brisk business for take out. Not too many people on a Sunday evening. Street parking. Probably better to come with a big group as they have a big menu, but I Would come back to try other dishes on the menu!

Yelp
I finally made it to Seaburry and was not disappointed! The food was INCREDIBLE. The flavors were so complex and absolutely delicious. We ordered: Lankan Red Curry with lamb Lamprise with shrimp We asked for the food to be prepared with a low level of spice and it was perfect. Just the right amount of heat. (I usually order my food with a medium level of spice, but I had a feeling this place would have quite the kick.) The lamb was so tender and the curry flavor was so good. The roti was still hot and when dipped in the sauce, it was heaven. The Lamprise had shrimp that was grilled, tender and beautifully spiced. It came with a fish croquette, cashew curry (wow), caramelized onion, grilled eggplant, a seasoned hard boiled egg and the most delicious rice. I cannot wait to come back and try more dishes. Seaburry is a wonderful addition to Westwood restaurants!

Yelp
Great flavors, presentation, and prices! I'm glad that we stopped at Seaburry restaurant. First off, I love the Sri Lankan decor and flare. The restaurant strikes a nice balance of elegance and hominess. But let's be real. Most of us will come here for the food. And the food delivers. Must get dishes? The paratha and lamprais. Both were delicious, authentic, and packed with various bold and fresh flavors. And then to top it all off, everything was well priced! None of the dishes will break the bank. This was my first time trying Sri Lankan food. I didn't know what I was missing. The Westside needed a delicious Sri Lankan spot!

Yelp
This wonderful Sri Lankan restaurant was recommended by a foodie friend. If you love heat, this is your place! Our waiter was very helpful taking us through the menu and providing tips on spice level. (Even requesting "medium spice" left our mouths tingling). For those with dietary restrictions, he recommended calling ahead, as many of the sauces are already prepared--and hot! We ordered a couple of the specialties with shrimp (other proteins are available). With each came a platter of "sides" including mango chutney (the most popular), a coconut sambal, curried cashews, marinated beets and eggplant. For a cool down, we got an ice cream dessert but there are also several lassis that can put out five-alarm "fires.". The restaurant itself is cozy, colorful and comfortable--a quiet haven off busy Westwood Boulevard

Yelp
I orders takeout with an Uber eats coupon. The portions were very generous, we ate for 3 days. I tried the seafood fried rice. The shrimp were huge, the calamari was plentiful and the flavor of the fried rice was great. The veggie spring rolls were crispy even after going through delivery. The salad with red fish had a really generous portion of smoked salmon and lots of avocado. We were a little confused with all the sauces we received. It seemed like the salad had two salad dressings? Not sure, but both were great on the salad!

Yelp
We were excited to try Sri Lankan food but this was not noteworthy. The variety platter did give us a chance to try a few things but the meat was dry and a few dishes were overly spicy. We are a big fan of Indian Food and maybe came in with unrealistic expectations. There menu seemed a bit incomplete as they did not even have a drinks menu. The food was okay but the flavor profiles did not wow us. Very cooperative and friendly staff though.

Nirmit S.

Yelp
My Sri Lankan friend took me here because she was craving some homemade food. The restaurant was clean and colorful. The staff was friendly. The chicken curry was delicious the chicken was so tender. My favorite was the calamari they breading in on it was light and crispy. I'd go back to explore their seafood dishes.

Yelp
I'm so glad I found this place. I'm always looking for new seafood spots around Los Angeles, and frankly, I'm surprised that this place is so under the radar. The coconut curry crab was delicious. If you're a fan of Dungeness crab, I highly recommend it. We also tried the Lamprais, which was definitely tasty, but for me, the seafood is always the stand out.
google avatar

Rosanne B.

Yelp
The ambience and decor are lovely here. The menu is seafood-forward so not too many options for me, a vegetarian. But the pumpkin soup (soup du jour) was tasty! We parked at the Hammer Museum which has a flat all day rate that is reasonable and then had a 10 minute walk to the restaurant.

Yelp
I live in the area, and I am so glad that Seaburry has arrived! I love Indian food, and I thought Sri Lankan food would be similar. In fact, it has its own unique and Absolutely Delicious flavor! The service is excellent and they have converted the space into a beautiful indoor/outdoor dining experience. It's right near the Ranch grocery store if you're looking for it. I am a super taster and this place gets my top vote! If you want , you can eat with your hands (the traditional way), and they will bring you hot water with lemon to clean your hands. Definitely worth swinging through. ... and they brought me a decadent birthday cake.

Yelp
This restaurant doesn't have nearly the business one would expect given the incredible complex flavors of delicious Sri Lankan food, lovely service, pleasant colorful ambience, and proximity to the Westwood neighborhood. The food is spicy, as Sri Lankan food tends to be, so be forewarned. The menu offers a wide variety of options. This was our 2nd visit here and there were empty tables on a Saturday night. This time we got the garlic shrimp appetizer, the Lamprise with lamb (your choice of meat and rice with other yummy items like spiced shredded eggplant, fried hard boiled egg, and a fried meat dumpling steamed in a banana leaf), and the curry rice with chicken (this is a surprisingly large meal as it comes with 6-8 little bowls of condiments including onions with pepper, spicy pickled chopped eggplant, jackfruit in a spicy chutney, steamed cashews, etc.). They also have non-alcoholic drinks and allow you to bring in wine, beer, etc.. On a previous visit we got the Red Curry with lamb which was very spicy, and a calamari dish with a spicy sauce. The Lamprise is a favorite. We had leftovers to take home. I'd also note that if you've tried the more casual Sri Lankan restaurants (there are some in the Valley) those are good, but not this good. The food at those restaurants is not quite as freshly prepared with care as the food at Seaburry. Here you can taste each ingredient, from the eggplant to the greens. The quality of the food and preparation are definitely a cut above here, worthy of a night out. Also, it's date night restaurant prices, not casual Indian restaurant prices-- worth the cost but be forewarned.

Yelp
This place transported me back to the south of Sri Lanka -- the vibe, the food and the hospitality. I had the lamprais which was authentically Sri Lankan and mint twist which was super fresh. I can't wait to see what they add to the bar menu.

Yelp
I came here with my friend (he is Sri Lankan) to try Sri Lankan food for the first time. It was phenomenal. Interior is very beautiful and chic, looks brand new and well designed. We ordered two appetizers and two entrees and shared and everything was fantastic. The dishes were so flavorful and fresh, calamari was absolutely delicious. One of the best meals I've had in a very long time. Met the owner and he gave us a free Sri Lankan ginger beer. Very reasonably priced and apparently also have a lunch buffet on weekends for around 20 bucks, which is a steal for LA. I will definitely be back.

Yelp
SeaBurry Sri Lankan Restaurant & Cuisine - The Ultimate Sri Lankan Dining Experience in LA! If you're looking for authentic Sri Lankan cuisine in Los Angeles, look no further than SeaBurry Sri Lankan Restaurant & Cuisine! This place is a culinary masterpiece, offering not just incredible food but also an unmatched dining experience filled with warm hospitality, rich flavors, and genuine Sri Lankan culture. Outstanding Hospitality - A True Sri Lankan Welcome! The wait staff was beyond exceptional--friendly, attentive, and incredibly knowledgeable about Sri Lankan cuisine. From the moment we arrived, they made us feel like honored guests, offering recommendations, ensuring our comfort, and delivering service that was nothing short of five-star. But what truly blew us away was the owner himself. A young, humble, and incredibly down-to-earth man, he personally checked on our table, ensured we were enjoying our meal, and even brought out an extra plate of freshly made Roti and Chicken Curry--on the house! At first, we thought he was a waiter because of how hands-on and involved he was in the service. But when he handed us his business card, we were absolutely shocked to learn he was the Founder and CEO of the restaurant! His humility, kindness, and passion for sharing Sri Lankan culture made the experience unforgettable. The Food - A Flavor Explosion! Every single dish was bursting with flavor, authenticity, and the perfect blend of Sri Lankan spices. Here are the absolute must-tries: Lamprais (A MUST-TRY!) - This banana-leaf-wrapped delicacy was the star of the night. The rice was fragrant and perfectly cooked, the spiced meat curry was rich and flavorful, and the eggplant moju and sambols added the perfect balance. An absolute Sri Lankan classic that you HAVE to try! Hoppers (Appam) - These crispy-edged, soft-centered pancakes were light and airy, and paired beautifully with the restaurant's incredible sambols and curries. Sri Lankan Rice & Curry - A classic that truly showcased the depth of Sri Lankan flavors. The chicken curry was perfectly spiced, the dhal was creamy and comforting, and the devilled prawns packed the perfect amount of heat! Kottu Roti - The best Kottu Roti in LA, hands down! Freshly chopped roti stir-fried with eggs, vegetables, and tender meat, all infused with aromatic Sri Lankan spices--this dish was beyond amazing! Crab Curry & Grilled Fish - The seafood here is next level. The crab curry was rich, spicy, and cooked to absolute perfection, while the grilled fish was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully seasoned. Wattalappam - This traditional Sri Lankan coconut and jaggery pudding--silky smooth, rich, and just the right amount of sweetness! A Thoughtful Touch - Sri Lankan Souvenirs! To top it all off, at the end of our meal, we were gifted beautiful Sri Lankan souvenirs as a token of appreciation! It was such a thoughtful and heartwarming gesture, making us feel truly connected to Sri Lankan culture. Final Verdict: The Best Sri Lankan Restaurant in Los Angeles! SeaBurry isn't just a restaurant--it's an experience. The combination of authentic Sri Lankan flavors, world-class service, and genuine hospitality makes it the absolute best Sri Lankan restaurant in LA. Whether you're Sri Lankan, a foodie, or someone looking for an unforgettable dining experience, this is THE place to be! Must-Try Dishes: Lamprais, Hoppers, Kottu Roti, Crab Curry, Devilled Prawns, Wattalappam Location: Hollywood, Los Angeles Rating: (More if I could give it!) If you haven't been to SeaBurry yet, you're seriously missing out! I'll definitely be back, and I'm bringing even more friends next time!

Yelp
We loved everything about this restaurant! The colorful chairs, walls and ceiling were so cheerful and set a nice tone as we entered. The staff was so pleasant and nice. Our waiter was from Sri Lanka and told us a lot about his country with such enthusiasm that we might have to take a trip there. All four of us loved every bite of our meal!!! So flavorful and tasty, and the presentations were beautiful. The non alcoholic drinks were very refreshing and went beautifully with the food. We honestly want to go back!

Yelp
Great food - great service and nice remodel of this wonderful corner spot in Westwood. Red curry (don't get spicy unless you can handle it!) shrimp, salmon - all delicious. The pita style bread and rice that come with it compliment the food nicely. No liquor license yet but they have a bar set up waiting for it. Weekend brunch is next on my list.

Jonathan K.

Yelp
Go once: Sure Go again: Unlikely My wife and I came to this restaurant on a whim. On the night we were there, the restaurant was empty. We were the only people in the restaurant being served, so that was a bit sad. That said, the food here was very good, but just a bit too spicy for both of us. People should be eating here though! We aren't super into spicy foods, so that's why I say it's unlikely we will come again. If the food was basically a lot less spicy, we'd probably be here relatively often. We enjoyed our dishes, we just didn't love how we felt afterwards! If you do like spicy food, this place is a great one to check out!

Yelp
Excellent service, delicious and unique cuisine in a cozy environment, love it! Made me want to vacation in Sri Lanka.

Yelp
I was recommended this place by my Sri Lankan friend. I got to tell you it did not disappoint. The flavor is out of this world. Best service and hospitality by far from Rachitha. And the ambiance is very classy, artsy, elegant, cultural. I got the Lamprais, it was served on a leaf that I thought was pretty cool. All the flavors from the coconut cashews and curry is to die for, I got the lamb with it, super tender and delicious everything on that plate was delicious. And to bring it down, I got the Srii Lankan iced coffee. Overall amazing experience. Will definitely be coming back with my friends.

Yelp
Excellent food. High quality. The trout was large and cooked nicely. Vegetables were a little greasy. Ambiance was nice. Service was good. We went for our first time last weekend and are returning this weekend. Enough said.

Yelp
Amazing place, highly recommend. Every food item we ordered was fantastic, the service was outstanding- loved our waitress. And the ambiance is so fun. Definitely bringing everyone I know here.

Yelp
This place is one of the best restaurants in all of LA! I feel so blessed and lucky to have their delicious food. I have had the vegetable spring rolls, the creamy mushroom soup, the butter chicken, the fish croquettes, the hot butter calamari, and the Asian fusion lamb chops (which is the best). All of these dishes have been divine and I can't wait to try more! Seriously, such incredibly flavorful food. Definitely check this place out! Perfect ambiance and I bet the service is just as fire!!! I've only ever done takeout thus far because of my work hours, but the fact that this food is still just as amazing via ubereats says something!

Yelp
Great new restaurant, I had never tried sri lankan food before so didnt know what to expect but everything we had (shrimp, lamb chops, salmon) was extremely well seasoned and cooked. Will come back to try the curry dishes.

Yelp
my husband went here for a lunch special, he got the seafood combo and raved about how delicious it was, came w soup and dessert this is my first time eating sri lankan food decided to order from here for lunch today got milk rice & (chicken) curry and butter chicken, both were so delicious! the coconut flatbread had just the right amount of crisp and sweetness and soaked up the curry nicely, the butter chicken stew reminded me a lot of Vietnamese bo kho (minus beef and carrots) and had a nice mild spice to it! both dishes were hearty and very satisfying. I will definitely add this restaurant to my weekly rotations!
google avatar

Matt H.

Yelp
The rice with curry gives you like six different samples of Sri Lankan food, including what I think was stewed mango! It was fantastic. The beef was high quality. And I am absolutely stuffed for 20 bucks. The interior of the restaurant also is very cute. I'm looking forward to coming back.

Fay T.

Yelp
Went here for the first time tonight, the manager and the staff were absolutely amazing; attentive and friendly. The food was very tasty and fresh and the restaurant has a cozy and warm ambiance; altogether a great experience!

Yelp
Delicious food and wonderful, attentive service. Highly recommend the sampler - best calamari I've had. Great location as well, definitely a bright spot on Westwood. Will be back for sure.

Lucky W.

Yelp
Seaburry does a fantastic job bringing this Dutch Burgher classic to life. Served wrapped in a banana leaf, the moment you unwrap it, you're hit with an incredible aroma of spices and slow-cooked goodness.

Surja C.

Yelp
Everything was delicious but highlight og our meal was the Savory Sampler plate - fish croquettes, hot butter calamari, lightly fried and delicately flavored shrimp, and veggie spring rolls - outstanding flavors. Great ambience, attentive service. Highly recommended!

Frances B.

Yelp
very interesting restaurant. we went on a weekend and they had live music....very loud music. we had to move over to the bar area just to hear ourselves. food was ok but served lukewarm to cool. i liked the place but with the cold food and very loud music would probably not be back. service was very attentive.

Joyce T.

Yelp

Yelp
We tried this Sri Lankan restaurant while in Los Angeles and had a delightful experience. A must try for authentic Sri Lankan food. Awesome ambience and great food. Upscale restaurant at reasonable prices. Service was fast and great options to select from. They also have a daily lunch buffet available.

Yelp
Great Food, great customer service. They are vey attentive. It is a very cozy place, nice and quiet.

Mike A.

Yelp
Seaburry is a new addition to Westwood's culinary scene and one well worth exploring. The food is great, both Sri Lankan classics like kothu paratha and red & yellow curries, but also Sri Lankan flavors infused in more grilled and bar food. You can tell that there was also effort put into the vibe of the place with traditional decor and tables elegantly put together. I also met the chef Rachita who was very friendly and thoughtful. He told me that he is waiting on a permit to open up the bar next door and he will import arrack, a liquor I enjoyed while in Sri Lanka. I look forward to when that happens and hope that it's successful since it's so great to be able to enjoy Sri Lankan food here.
google avatar

Suzi O.

Yelp
4.5 overall for food, service and ambiance. It was my first time trying Sri Lankan food which has been strongly influenced by Indian and Malaysian cuisines. I was there for a special event and the buffet style service was gorgeously presented. Curries, soup, prawns on skewers and much more. It was a feast. I want to return.

Shernaz L.

Yelp
Nine of us went for dinner (we are Sri Lankan), the food was fresh and tasty, service was excellent, ambiance was perfect. We could not have asked for a better experience. Highly recommend.

Cara F.

Yelp
Just got back from a group lunch at Seaburry. What wonderful food! I've never had Sri Lankan food before, and it was delicious. The lunch special was a great value, quite tasty and very filling. Everyone at the table agreed that the food was very good and that we will go there again. Their computer system definitely needs work, but the waitress rolled with the punches and did a great job -- friendly, efficient and professional. Great experience overall!

Kian K.

Yelp
We waited at the door for 20 mins with no one taking us in. They are understaffed as only 1 guy was serving tables. The plates they gave us were dirty and the table was rocking. The traditional curry was pretty good but the mixed seafood platter was awful. The pricing was expensive considering everything. Wouldn't recommend.

Yelp
Very excited to have a Sri Lankan restaurant in the neighborhood! Just picked up takeout for lunch and the food is really delicious. Kottu paratha is a standout dish! Excited to come back and dine in the restaurant. It looks really great.

Reaper M.

Yelp
Amazing environment and great service. The food came out fast and they have a great variety of traditional Sri Lankan dishes, as well as a few classics. I would definitely recommend it and I will definitely be coming back.

katrina d.

Yelp
Super disappointed. Tried a little bit of everything. Ordered the chicken curry plate and the other mix plate with shrimp. It felt like the only thing freshly made was the grilled shrimp. The grilled veg was fine, the soup not good. The calamari was all oil and chili, no flavor but I have a headache from eating it. Everything is spicy. I thought it was just me, but the entire family agreed. The restaurant was a ghost town on Sunday afternoon. The tumeric rice was hard and old. Wanted to like this place so much since it's near my house but I won't be returning. Had $5 off since I ordered online, still spent over $70.

Liesl R.

Yelp
Incredible service, food, and ambiance! Thank you for a great experience trying Sri Lankan cuisine for the first time! It didn't disappoint!

Yelp
I was looking for somewhere different in Westwood for a lunch date, and I saw the other great reviews for Seaburry. It's in a very nice space next to Atari Sandwiches on Westwood Bvd. Inside decor is surprisingly upscale and pleasant. Also surprising is how few people were there for one of the better lunches I have had in LA. I had Lamprais, and my lunch partner had the mixed seafood. Both are nicedy presented and absolutely delicious and an absolute steal on the lunch menu and still a great deal on the dinner menu. I know most of the places in the vicinity and this is now my favorite spot. Can't wait to go back. Also I understand that they have a weekend buffet.
