Liked: I gave this place 2 stars instead of one because there is a walk-up window by the pool where a very nice young lady made my family great slushy beverages on a very hot day and a few feet away is a cute little outdoor restaurant where we were served by a man who was super cool and friendly. Service was fast and the food was good. They also had an affordable suite that was the right size for my 5 family members for a 1-night stay before our Carnival Cruise. Now for the reason that we were at the restaurant out back by the pool: ||Disliked: I arrived on 6/21 at 2:30pm with my sister, her preschool age daughter, and my 2 sons after flying from DC to Ft Lauderdale and then taking a 40-minute cab ride to Miami. I stood in line at the front desk and the first red flag was that the male desk clerk didn’t say “hello”, “welcome to Seacoast Suites” or anything at all! When he finished with the person in front of me, I was just standing there waiting and he put up his fingers to motion at me to come over! He quickly told us that we were early for our 4pm check-in, then when 4pm came, they told us we still can't have keys because “there are no towels in the room”. At one point, I begged him to just give us the keys and let housekeeping bring the towels later and we were told it couldn't be done (we just wanted to get our swimsuits out of our luggage and relax on the beach). I decided to wait off to the side of the front desk and spent almost 30 minutes watching him and a female clerk check in multiple other people into rooms with no problem! I also notice that they're speaking Spanish to all of the people checking in so now I’m frustrated and wondering why the one Black family in the lobby has now waited almost 2 hours for a reserved suite (we booked a month earlier- it wasn’t a surprise that we were coming). When I asked for a manager, I was told that there was none on site that day! ||The next day we didn't realize checkout was at 10:30 (typically it’s 11am) and we asked them to give us a grace period of 30 min but instead they sent a security person to bang on our door every 5 minutes to tell us we had to get out immediately (I'm not making this up). We ordered breakfast from Uber Eats and couldn't even finish. I had to tell the kids to throw their food back in the bags so we could leave quickly. The male desk clerk from the previous day apparently gave management a story in which he was some kind of victim when it was actually me who felt victimized- the gaslighting from their staff is still unbelievable to me. Note that I was the paying customer and management never asked me anything! When we asked the manager not to charge us extra for late check out because we got downstairs before 11am, he was like "NO, you argued with the desk clerk yesterday and made him cry" (NOTE: the morning desk clerk called him and gave us the phone- we didn't ever see a manager in person). I never saw the rude, sarcastic clerk cry but I cried angry tears when I hit my breaking point and told them exactly what I thought of them before we left. I'm just sorry that I spent any money here & that my family had to experience this.|||Additional Notes: We had a spacious 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom suite but some of the blinds didn't work and one bedroom had no tv. There was also a weird smell throughout the building like cheap cleaning solution and the hotel is old and needs major upgrades- there were loud noises through the night that sounded like pipes groaning. The towels that they used as an excuse to delay giving us keys were left piled next to the tv in the living room and not even placed in the bathrooms. ||This hotel has the beach on the back side and the bay on the front so the location and views are pretty amazing. Desk staff and management was extremely rude, unapologetic, and let you know that they didn't care what customers thought of their behavior- they lacked common courtesy and are in need of major customer service training. Nothing about the pool made me want to get in it and website pics are very misleading.
