If you’re looking at Seafood City in Sugarland, you probably already know that this is a Filipino Super Store. But it’s not just for Filipinos! This store has a huge selection of fresh fruits and vegetables, dry and canned food, snacks, and, of course, fish along with an extensive fresh meat counter. At the front of the store is a food court where you can get authentic Filipino dishes and baked goods.
We stopped on a Thursday in the afternoon to do some shopping and get some food from the City Grill in the food court. We got a two-meat combo with a pork and a chicken BBQ stick. It’s served with either Pancit or Rice or half-in-half, which is what we got. It also comes with a non-grilled entrée, and we picked the Bopis, which is a very popular spicy Filipino dish made with minced lung and other stuff (honestly, I’m not really sure what is all in it!). The BBQ sticks were good, and we preferred the pork over the chicken. The pancit was okay, but we’ve had better. If you want to be adventurous and try a truly authentic Filipino dish, give the Bopis a try. Again, we have had better.
Overall, if you are looking for a true Filipino dining experience, Seafood City is the place to go.
