Costco Will Require Shoppers to Wear Masks, Starting Monday | Eater Seattle

"One of the few local grocers to adopt a similar rule is the Filipino market Seafood City in Tukwila, which has implemented a mask requirement like Costco's; I note that such requirements aren’t widespread in Seattle." - Gabe Guarente

Google
The name is seafood city. What a fitting name. So many different fresh, live or frozen fishes, lobster, shells and etc beside the fresh poultry and meats. I've visited and shopping in many supermarkets and definitely this one is among whit the best ones. Very bright, no bad smell and very clean. Fresh vegetables and other groceries shelves. It could be a one-stop shop for all type of Asian meals.

Me M.

Google
This grocery store is inside the mall. However it does not have many things like different types of drinks. They have a lot of options for fruits through.

Beyond Vision F.

Google
All kinds of variety of seafood, a complete selection of Philippino food, vegetables, fruits fun to wander through and try fresh made food

Rahmatddin N.

Google
I recently bought this seafood fish and it was not good at all. The smell and taste showed it wasn’t fresh, and the quality was far below what I expected. I ended up throwing most of it away. Definitely not worth the money, and I wouldn’t recommend anyone buying it. And they don’t even clean their fish.

Google
Late Dec2024 What is generally a Filipino supermarket is offering a number of Asian products as well and generally takes up most of the shelves. Would be nice to see more variety of local pinoy products esp as there a number of iconic brands missing. What is absent the store tries to make up via the ready food stalls and bakery which is pretty standard. Still a good though much limited representation of the country in US shores.

Marilyn G.

Google
A place where you can buy mostly Filipino foods, snacks, condiments and fresh vegetables, fish and seafoods. After grocery shopping there is a stall that serves Filipino foods from breakfast to lunch and dinner including street foods and desserts, lechon is available here as well.

Jerome B.

Google
Beware! They mix old slightly bad vegetables with new ones and put them in a package for selling. They'll easily go bad within a couple of days. They also have a lot of expired items in the shelves. You're better off going to other asian grocery stores. They also tend to not use a slippery when wet signage when mopping the floor, using the machine. My dad slipped and got hurt and they just shrugged it like nothing was wrong.

Aileen M C.

Google
Large Asian market (Filipino). Has many selection of food and groceries. Has a restaurant and bakery inside the store with a fish market. As you exit the store into the mall. There are three other Filipino restaurants such as the Chow King and Jollybee’s. Forgot the name of the other one. Overall great store. I don’t really shop here. I come for Jollybee’s food mostly 😅

Yelp
Go early to avoid the crowd Nice friendly people and lots of food variety Great prices and lots and lots of FOOD!
google avatar

Kai C.

Yelp
Handy when you need a few things. Usually crowded but quiet-ish. Service at the registers is rather deadpan - always has been. Example: the customer says "thank you"; the cashier says; "Yeah". *shrug* If you are a ramen fan, they have a healthy collection, including bulk. They have catering and, if you are planning a luau, get your pig here.

Yelp
All things Filipino! Essentially a supermarket, it's the seafood section that will blow your mind. Fish and crustaceans of every kind. The store itself is poorly designed, the aisles too narrow, and just a little sloppy for my taste. But they have a selection of food items hard to find at other places. Like lumpia!? Yep, they got it! Like freshly prepared Filipino foods, such as pancit or adobo!? They got it! Bottom line, great selection, poor design. Have at it!
google avatar

Yelp
Love the meat on the stick in the deli so love the choice of hard to find Asian items Staff is great also

Yelp
When I lived in LA I lived a couple of miles away from Seafood City and it was the best, because my Filipino parents could get anything they wanted to cook their favorite dishes on the daily. Now we live in Olympia so we have to haul our butts up here at least twice a month to get our Filiipino groceries. This is a pretty good one because it doesn't smell too much like fish, and the grill area at the front of the store has a lot of seating. The only thing I have against this place is that the lottery machine never works and I once watched a guy spit on the floor near the entrance and I can't get that out of my head. Ew.
google avatar

Chara C.

Yelp
Not the best but not bad! Haven't really shopped here but tried some of their 'street food' hot bar section bites- it's the only place that I know of that is really geared towards filipino street eats. There are some other spots with filipino food but not necessarily the same vibe with the pre-made hot food. They have skewers that are huge (much bigger than on the streets of the Philippines) - but reflective of the price as well, however still quite reasonable for the amount of meat. They also have options like whole fried fish (different kinds), that can be stuffed as well. Their turon are also quite huge and fun to eat (plantain/banana fried inside egg roll, like a semi sweet dessert). Overall fun to try and explore, especially if you dont have much experience with this cuisine.

Yelp
Food They have a variety of products, all Asian. The cost is expected to be higher due to no domestic products. Service Employees are professional, helpful, and friendly. Ambience Mostly positive, and it wasn't so busy. It does get very busy depending on the day of the week and times. Overall, this place is a great place to shop for Asian products. I recommend anyone to expand their horizon and try something new.

Yelp
Was visiting the state and stopped by the mall. Went into Seafood City to get some hot food to eat. I wasn't sure how they sold it. So I asked the person behind the counter. She couldn't speak English and her tone of voice wasn't friendly. There was no other person that was helping her. She went to help the customer behind me. I asked that other customer to translate for me. Their customer service was bad, Workers do not smile and not friendly. You work in America, at least speak English to customers that don't speak the Filipino language. Explain to them how you sell your products. Very bad experience in this place.

Yelp
We really enjoyed going to Seafood City with relatives at their Las Vegas locations. I was hoping Tukwila's location would work the same magic and they did. First, I absolutely love the older women servers. They remind me of our titas and lolas. That always makes me feel at home. The food is good and plentiful. They have a mouthwatering section of family favorite's. We usually order enough food to enjoy later as leftovers. I also like having access to a large Filipino grocery store to stock up on brands that can be hard to find at mainstream stores. Definitely will come back the next time we are up this way.

Yelp
Fresh seafood, good ambiance and perfect service. Store is clean and complete assortment

Yelp
As a Fil-American, this place will always have a special place in my heart. It's not perfect but it's one of my fave places in the area since it's where I can get my Filipino food/ingredient fix. They have a good/wide selection and prices are decent. If you're looking for Filipino ingredients, this is where you need to go. Other grocery stores have Filipino ingredients too but they're not the same quality and they're a lot more expensive.

Enrique B G.

Yelp
We went to go and eat there, the bill was almost $30. I gave the old lady cashier $100 and just grab change and assumed it was a $20, $50 and some change then put it in my pocket. When we get home i saw the change it was $20, $5 and some change. This happens a lot in the Philippine and never would have thought it will happened here especially she an older lady. My wife said just give her the benefits of the doubt, but then the again the $1, $5, $10, $20 goes on top and the $50 and $100 goes under.

Nicole W.

Yelp
The food at the hot deli was good. The service was also good. The ambiance is a Filipino grocery store. They have some bakery good too.

Yelp
Omg love seafood City. They don't have any in East Coast so thats sad but the place is clean, great service.
google avatar

Rachel D.

Yelp
Overall, this is a great location, it's really important to have foods that represent the cultures of the people who live in the area. I truly appreciate that I can go here and find a number of things that I've never experienced, but can openly share with my friends and my family. The store is extremely clean, the seafood section is amazing. My only issue ever has been that the food portion/restaurant part in the front is always ready to serve what they have available because they are not done and there doesn't seem to be enough. Focus on running or maintaining that area in a functional way. I wish they had more exotic fruit. If you're looking for ingredients that are specific to Asian/oriental meals, I suggest going to the store to stockpile on the thing you might not find near to you.

Yelp
Came here once to get a specific can of corn beef, I don't think I'll ever stop by again unless I'm already at the mall and is desperate to grab soy sauce out of convenience while shopping at Lululemon or I need something that's Filipino specific because all the other Asian groceries should carry your standard essentials and this is quite a drive for me. But good for Southcenter Mall for finding something large enough to take up that retail space. This corner of the mall has a lot of Filipino related stuff including Jolliebee and another restaurant. I think I heard there's also a food court inside Seafood City, not sure, I was fighting with all the aunties to race for the shortest cashier line which isn't that short. It's chaotic, but part of the experience. Tell me about your experience if you've been here or is going to after reading this review:)

Yelp
Quick and Efficient my ChildHood Filipino version Of McDonald's Clean and Fast!!!! Recommended the spaghetti the chicken with rice and gravy. The gravy is a must with pineapple quencher

B G.

Yelp
Bought some mussels there, a couple of lbs for $44. Got home after 10 min and my car smelled like rotten fish. Cleaned them and they were slimey, most were open. Totally dangerous to cook these. Now for the return part...I was accused by the management of leaving them in my hot car for hours. They said there's no way they would sell rotten mussels! I'm from a coastal area, grew up cooking mussels on the beach etc. I know when something is off and bad. At Safeway they would take a return no questions asked. The fact I had to go through so much grief after a ruined dinner party...yeah, only go here if you're desperate.

Yelp
Incredible place with variety of Filipino grocery and eating centers. This place has Jollibee, Valero Bakery, Red Ribbon, Filipino Street food, Chowking and Crispy Town. Next to it is Daiso. The longest line here is Jollibee, so if you really want that palabok and chicken joy-you must have patience. Sundays and "Ber-months" like December is super busy. This is a staple hangout place for Filipino Catholics after church or during their day offs The produce and fresh seaafood here are super fresh also and they have pre-made Filipino boxes for any one who's in the go. My only wish is that they can ship it to Louisville online. My mom really want them Pamana longanisa!
google avatar

Yelp
Omg! All my favorite Filipino desserts under one roof! It's just not fair! Loading up for Brekie!

Yelp
Worst customer service at the South Center Mall location. They never answer their phone, EVER!!!!

Yelp
I've been to Seafood City since they first opened, and I really wish I like them more - the supermarket part. In case you don't know, Seafood City is a Filipino supermarket. The "problem", if you would call it that, is that its very Filipino. Nothing wrong with that, if that's all you're shopping for. Not so useful, if you want to grab a few other things. Amongst all the Asian market competitors (Uwajimaya - Japanese, HMart - Korean, 99 Ranch - Chinese/Taiwanese, Lam's - Vietnamese), Seafood City is the least diverse of all of them. Again, nothing wrong with that if you are focused on Filipino foods only. The biggest ding though, is for the exact same product (dry goods), I likely can find it cheaper elsewhere. Maybe it's the real estate cost being in Southcenter mall. The products are not cheap. Their wins are the produce area - good variety and competitive prices. Same for their seafood section where you can buy fish the Filipino way - someone will pick, bag, tag, clean, and optional to fry also. The adjacent wins are, because of their presence, a standalone bakery shop is in the same store area, and outside has 3 eateries (Jollibee, Chow King, and Crispy something) and 1 more bakery (Red Ribbon). Also in the store is a hot deli area with seating, called Grill City. Oh, if you need something shipped to the Philippines (and maybe other Asian countries too), there's a shipping service at the store.

Alakake K.

Yelp
Nov. 3, 2023. This store sells expired food. By the fish counter where the cooked fried fish are sold are several containers that have an expiration date of October 18. There were some with expiration dates of Dec. 01, 2023. Fried food at room temp cooked w/o preservatives doesn't have a shelf life of over a week. I have reported this to the Health Department. Another item is this package of Chicken we purchased today w/o checking the date, EXPIRED

Yelp
I love that there's a wide selection of Filipino food items and other Asian condiments in this store. The place is well kept and clean, and each section is organized so the vegetables, seafood, and frozen items are all in their respective sections. There's also plenty of vegetables that I could never find at my local Safeway or Albertson's and that's always a plus! What took off one star is that customer service is always hit or miss. For the most part, I would often have a bad experience in the seafood section where they clean and cut the fish. Today, I was trying to explain to the lady in the counter how I want the fish prepared or cleaned. She wasn't looking at me at all so I was not completely sure if she got the instructions correctly. And sure enough, the fish was not cut and the fish was not cleaned properly at all. At the very least, the lady assisting customers where the fish containers/bins are was accommodating and kindly got me another fish. Since the supermarket is located exactly where the mall is, there's plenty of parking, although sometimes it can get extremely crowded since inside the supermarket, they crammed other a couple other stores, a bakery, and a shipping company.

Yelp
The food was fresh and the customer service was excellent. The Ambiance was sorta cafeteria style , with so many choices. A definite must try if in Tukwila Washington.
google avatar

Yelp
Food always stale cold nasty and open late, they say five min and take an hour it's all overpriced barely any one can cashier and the attitude is crazy. Dealing with someone who doesn't speak the language and has an attitude with people who are being patient with them was hard. The whole place is dirty unorganized never priced right and they let multiple people who speak their language skip the mf line. T f is actually wrong with y'all

Yelp
Clearly one of the best stocked Asian supermarket I have seen in the Northwest. I was visiting family in Seattle and was told about this gem a short hop from SeaTac Airport. I was craving some snacks to bring and boy, they did not fall short of selections! It's just as vast as NYC Chinatown shops combined and I lived in The borough of Queens near the heart of Chinatown. Had my carry on luggage not have been limited to my duffle, I would have bought more! Yummm is all I can say! Will be coming back for a return stop the next time we are in the neighborhood!

Yelp
Super disappointed in my purchase of manila clams from this supermarket. I stumbled upon this place when I was down at South Center for some other task, and I don't usually go to South Center. I thought this place was pretty clean and had a lot of good selections. I was planning to make clam vongole for valentine's day and I was debating whether to get clams from wholefoods or here. An employee came up to me and got a netted bag of clams for me in the water tank. With this, you won't expect them to be selling you dead clams. He placed it in a plastic bag and instructed me to go to the weighing station. It was 2.2L of clams, for a total of almost $20. I went to pay and went straight home. I live approximately 15 miles away, so it wasn't incredibly far but again, I probably wouldn't come out of my way to go to this grocery story if it didn't happen that I was around the area. I went home and started sorting through the clams. I discovered that out of approximately 56 of the clams, 26 of them were dead. I knew this because they were open and when I tapped them, nothing happened and many of them looked quite dead. I was super disappointed as the number of clams dead kept on creeping up. It's unsafe to eat these clams. I expected a number of clams to be dead which is natural but not 26, which is almost half the number of clams and almost 1LB. I sent this to my partner who also was appalled. I tried calling the store to speak to an associate but after numerous tries, nothing. I didn't want to drive 15 miles to go back to return the clams until I was able to speak to someone on the phone. We've decided to not consume the remaining clams and risk any health hazards/food poisoning. This is a safety hazard and Seafood City Supermarket needs to relook at its health standards for its shellfish. Edit: I thought 26 of them were dead but in fact, the whole bag is basically dead clams. Their little necks were out and I thought this meant it was OK but my partner tapped them and they didn't retract so they are in-fact dead.

Mike B.

Yelp
Reminds me a lot of the Philippines. Long lines because of slow workers or not enough, old food, and weird menus. Took us forever to get our food. 20min to 30 min? Not bad if it was a restaurant cooking fresh food, but this was food warmed and ready for consumption. Anyways, I'll never eat there again. Plenty of good food at the mall and I can cook authentic Filipino food at home.

Yelp
This review is for the hot deli inside the supermarket.... I have eaten here on many occasions pre covid. (Usually eat here after a flight while waiting for hubby to get off work) so 4-6 times a year. Last week I had to go to apple to have my MacBooks battery replaced...we decided to grab some lunch here. After waiting in a long line worthy of being compared to splash mountain and Disneyland we finally got up to the point of being able to start ordering what we wanted. I looked at the first gal who had her mask down below her nose the entire time use her gloved hand and scratched said exposed nose. I then proceeded to look down the line at all the people serving food and two gentlemen that were by the hanging meat. Every single one of them was wearing a mask but their nose was exposed. WTH! "I'd like one covid plate to go"? No thank you. You want to not wear it properly on your own time that's your business. But when you're touching food that I'm going to consume it's a no go! I turned around and walked out and I can guaranty covid or no covid I will NOT be back!!

Yelp
Located next to Jollibee. A good medium sized asian market. It had more Filipino items which was unique. There is a meat butcher section, some fresh veggies/fruit and your regular aisles of canned goods, snacks, sauces etc. They also have a hot deli area serving mainly Filipino food. Parking was easy.
google avatar

Marah H.

Yelp
Chaos and high prices. At least that was the vibe on a Sunday afternoon. This market has unique options and lot of restaurants inside but it's madness in my opinion and it's not the cleanest which is a huge impact on my ability to enjoy myself. Nevertheless, fun stuff to see, interesting food options, and a bakery with the the best chicken empanadas I've ever had.
google avatar

Yelp
First, the good: - Valerio's bakery - wonderful spot to grab mouthwatering Filipino pastries & breads, although wish they offered some of them in smaller or single-serve sizes - The grill, fresh food bar, and all manners of Filipino cultural food samplings all in one spot - Location - great excuse to just visit the Southcenter shopping mall :) The bad: - Some of the produce I've gotten here has gone bad much more quickly than other places I've gotten. They need to do a better job of culling items that already have mold or are old

Yelp
Bought a bag of their own brand of seafood mix. It was no good, our hot pot did not taste good. The fishes and shrimps looked fresh but otherwise other seafood items didn't look so good. Could not find thinly sliced beef for hot pot at all. The deli area looked great. But they charge $14.99 per lb for crispy fried shrimp They have some unique items that are helpful such as pandan leaves and banana leaves.

Yelp
My wife and I were at Seafood City, Southcenter around 10:45 today. 12/25. We waited to be served for our food order and when about to pay two of the resturant staff did their punching on the cashier machine ahead of us who had been standingn in front of the cashier for about 15 minutes. Despite of my words of why they are doing it which is very example for the store staff. I should have taken pictures of them. These old ladies ignored us.
google avatar

Jm P.

Yelp
Due to the location of the registers the aisles get really condensed from people standing in the lines to pay. The set up is too boxed and leave people standing in the aisles waiting while others are trying to shop. The variety of snacks, seafood and groceries is decent. Some of their items are very overpriced, mainly the packaged goods. They have a wide range of seafood to choose from and cuts of meat to buy. I normally gravitate to the fresh produce. I like the packaged veggies for specific dishes already prepared for you and all you have to do is cook. Its so convenient.

Yelp
After a decade living in the PNW, I finally ventured out to Seafood City. I've always passed by it, but never had a chance to check it out. Seafood City is a Filipino based supermarket, but offers everyday items, plus a seafood and butcher station, along with hot foods, and a bakery. There are two different entrances/exits as it is attached to the inside of Southcenter Mall. The store itself is very spacious, huge, and clean for the most part. There were good selections of fruits and vegetables. You can find Asian produce that you cannot find in most American grocery stores, along with a lot of frozen items and sweet treats. I'm not too knowledgeable of Filipino treats, so I was indecisive on the bakery goods, but they all looked delicious. Overall, a pretty cool market to browse and shop. I did purchase a salmon filet on my way out, and it was a really good cut that was cleaned properly and de-boned. In my opinion, they're a bit pricier than the average Asian supermarket, but I'm thinking maybe because they're at the convenience of being inside a mall.
google avatar

Hannah F.

Yelp
I love this place. The bakery here has the best Turon and Puto Pati. I enjoy getting all the best Asian snacks and treats here that I cannot find at big grocery stores.
google avatar

Lori B.

Yelp
The fruit salad at their grill made me sick yesterday. Not making that mistake again. Very disappointing.

Adam R.

Yelp
Everyone who works seems like they are functioning at 1% speed. It makes every line in here become almost non-functional. If they went any slower, then the cashiers wouldn't be able to check out a single person before their shift ends.
google avatar

Teresa M.

Yelp
This place is pretty okay depending on what you're looking for. As the name of the business just *might* imply they have seafood here. Quite a large selection with a nice variety. While I have yet to purchase fish from here, what I have seen appears to be fresh. When it comes to other items that you'd expect to find in an Asian grocery store, things can be hit or miss. While they most certainly have the staples that can easily be found in any store, there are somethings they just don't have to the point if I need an Asian specific store they are usually not my first stop unless they are literally the closest.
google avatar

Jboogie L.

Yelp
Happy to find a place that sells plantains and taro root! Strangely this market is inside Westfield Shopping Center. There are many food kiosks and reminds me of back home in the bay. There are more Filipino style type of foods but also with easy parking. Prices are average.

Bred M.

Yelp
Absolutely I do not recommend this business. Absolutely this business need to be shut down very rude crazy Manager I was talking to her seafood department food it's very old not fresh they don't even know how to clean the fish.
google avatar

Andy B.

Yelp
Wow, absolutely the best food I've eaten on this entire 5 day trip to Seattle!! Grille mackerel in a Togo container, I sampled it in the parking lot and finished it right then. I hope the next time I visit in warmer weather to find an awesome beach, some wine and friends to enjoy a few of these for an evening!
google avatar

Riff L.

Yelp
This pertains to their little restaurant portion in the supermarket. First of all I question the quality of meats used in their dishes. First off the chicken and pork bbq tasted weird and rot. Also the bbq was served cold. Order kare kare. It seem like it was made days ago with no hint of peanut butter taste to it. IMO they probably water down over the days. Next order pork sisig. It was also bland and seems water down just like the kare kare mention before. This place is just terrible. It use to be good in the begining but with all the short cuts and money saving. It's not worth the price. Stay away. No wonder all the Filipinos were eating at Jollibee and the other filipino restaurant across from it
google avatar

Azraieana N.

Yelp
So there open sign turns on at 7am but it's only for grill city I went in like 5 minutes early and was asked to leave until 8am. They have a big selection of meats I didnt notice any live tanks though and it's not fishy smelling like some, but everything else is skimp I didnt expect tons as it's a grocery store in a mall. Prices were comparable to like Uwajimaya and Hmart. The store is quite clean.
google avatar

Sherman B.

Yelp
The Pansit & Banana fritters were the worst we've ever tasted. Absolutely no flavor whatsoever in the Pansit noodle dish. The Banana fritters were just as bad. Oily, no taste. We had the BBQ chicken & pork sticks which weren't bad. Unfortunately, the server wrapped both sticks in a single foil sheet so had to guess at which one was which. Sorry Seafood City, but you need to step up your game.
google avatar

Jane S.

Yelp
It is an Asian Supermarket like H-MART and 99 Ranch that caters mostly for Philippine brands and cooking. The vegetables, fruits and seafood selections are great. The snacks have almost everything Filipino would want from Philippines with Koreans, Japanese and Chinese snacks and seasonings too. The food court has the famous Valerio's Bakery serving pandesal, kalamay (Filipino ricecakes), leche flan, ensaymada rolls, empanada, candies and pastries. There are also Filipino street foods and turo-turo (cafe style) restaurants serving traditional Filipino dishes. We love the tropical flavored Magnolia ice cream the grocery sells too. We go here whenever we are on our way to Seattle or Southcenter Mall. Jollibee, Red Ribon Bakery, Chow King, and other famous Philippine restaurants like Max's Restaurant famous for roasted/fried chicken are all nearby. It is the only Seafood City Market chain in WA state so a lot of Filipinos come here.
google avatar

Lulu Z.

Yelp
Decent Asian grocery, with a variety of Filipino items. The produce is slightly pricey. My favorite finding was their Hot To Go pork adobo takeaway, which was $7.99 and very filling (pork adobo, rice deliciously flavored with the adobo sauce, pancit, and simple lumpia). Obviously, I was shopping while hungry. Will return for Valerio's baked goods!
