I ate lunch at the Seafood Palace in Lake Charles, Louisiana on Enterprise Boulevard on Oct. 17, 2025: ate my friend's recommendations: chicken and sausage gumbo and fried catfish filet! Both were fantastic: catfish was very light and not fishy at all - beautiful--perfectly crispy with cornmeal coating! (5 out of 5) Chicken and sausage gumbo was so flavorful: great depth of flavor from home-made roux with identifiable large portions of chicken and sausage (not spicy hot) and I loved it. (5 out of 5-if I could double this score, I would, 10 out of 5--I would reorder this in a heart beat). I got adventurous and strayed from my friend's recommendation: stuffed shrimp--I love shrimp, but the flavor combinations were odd for my palate (1 out of 5). Service was so delightful with Ms. Sarah, my service provider. You are wonderful, Ms. Sarah (Rating 10 out of 5--you did great, Ms. Sarah, so kind and great at hospitality). Bathroom was so clean. (Rating 10 out of 5-great job on cleanliness). Overall, Seafood Palace is a fantastic seafood restaurant: great cajun flavors and perfect for me! Also, loved that they serve Coca-cola in the bottle or over ice-really enjoyed Coke from the bottle.

This was AMAZING. You have to go here! I had the best oyster poboy I have eaten in years. Our friend had a HUGE half platter of crabs....the way crabs should be. They were full of meat ... just incredible. And for a seafood place, they make a melt-in-your-mouth chicken fried steak. My daughter ATE IT ALL! the beer is cold, the seafood is fresh and cooked to perfection and the staff is soooo friendly. I caught one off-guard with my photo and she danced for the Pic. Sweet and fun! I would give them 10 stars if I could!!!

To my good buddy Cohen, this is the place I was telling you about! We both had grilled fish, grilled shrimp, salad & broccoli, all cooked perfectly. Great waitress & fast service at noon with a packed house. ALWAYS GOOD FOOD!!! August 2025 - Grilled fish & oysters again!

If you want true southern seafood and a laid back atmosphere, then you have to check out Seafood Palace. One of the many restaurant gems in Lake Charles! The Gumbo is the best I’ve ever had!

My dad and stepmother took me out to eat lunch. A male member of the staff met us at the door and held it open for us as my dad is disabled. He seated us right away. When I walked in, I noticed the people first. There were a few open tables, but they have ample seating. The customers were eating, talking, and smiling. Our server came and took our drink orders but already knew what my mom and step-mom wanted. She gave us enough time to decide what we wanted and took our order. Our food came out timely, and the wait time was not long. The crabs I ordered were very full and heavy. My dad had the fried fish and oysters. We were checked on for drink refills appropriately. The atmosphere with the cajun music was nice. The seating was arranged where we did not feel crammed in there either. All of their wait-staff were smiling and kind. Some were laughing but also observant of customers' needs. I will surely return.

I had the large bowl of chicken and sausage gumbo. Its very good. Plenty of sausage and chicken in it. Definitely will come back here.

I ordered 6 fried blue crabs and a small seafood platter with fried okra. The fried crab was good (4/5). The fried seafood platter was good. The French fries were crispy. The fried fish was delicious. The only things I didn't like were the stuffed crab and fried oysters. The atmosphere and service here are phenomenal (5/5). Maggie was nice on the phone and at the cashier when I was checking out. My waiter, Alis, was super kind and friendly, taking care of me at the table. Overall experience: 4.5/5 stars

Seafood Palace offers a delightful dining experience with perfectly cooked dishes. Our server, Sarah, was friendly and attentive. However, a reminder about their bottled sodas policy (no refills) would be helpful. The boudin balls appetizer was a highlight, seasoned to perfection. The seafood platter and fried shrimp/fish plate were both delicious, making for an overall enjoyable meal. Highly recommended for seafood lovers!

The staff were super nice, I thought they did a great job, I'd give 5 stars to the staff. The food just wasn't for me. The fries were soft, nothing was seasoned well, there's no spice to anything at all. The house salad was just packaged lettuce with 3 cherry tomatoes on top and a plastic packet of Ken's dressing. Disappointing food all around.

Shame! Poor Communication, poor Social Media, and Signage. At 4:45p, Whole family drove out here for seafood and they were CLOSED. Multiple other patrons were pulling up as well. Lost business. Very Disappointed.

Stopped in on our way out from a casino trip. We both had a shrimp poboy with no complaints! Fries were fresh and hot as well. Local joint, place was clean and service was efficient and friendly! I'm sure we will be back on our next casino trip.

On a recent trip to Lake Charles, we stopped by Seafood Palace for dinner our first night in town. Located 10-15 minutes from L'Auberge, Seafood Plalace is one of the most popular restaurants in the area on Yelp. So we were definitely looking for our Cajun fix. Upon arriving, we parked in their lot and walked into this casual restaurant. They have several TVs throughout which is always an added bonus to watch some sports. From there, I was impressed with the unique menu which extends beyond your typical Cajun fare. Case in point: duck tenders. Not something I've ever seen before. I've seen your traditional duck and even duck wings. But breaded tenders? Sign me up. A little chewy as you would expect but still delicious. Or grilled gator. You often see fried gator. But you don't typically see grilled gator which was great as it allows you to taste the meat better than the fried variety. Along with that, I also got a side of fries, a roll, and a beer. Service was standard. You then pay at the counter when you leave. I always appreciate an adventurous meal!

A terrific hole-in-the-wall that's consistently all about the food! We ordered the small Fried Fish (with salad, French fries and sweet roll), and small Chicken & Sausage Gumbo (with rice). The fish was hot and crispy, the fries not too salty, and the sweet roll hit just right. The gumbo had a rich roux with generous portions of chicken and sausage. The saltines were nice, with. Service is quick and attentive.

We ordered fried oysters: very good. Seafood gumbo: good but not Pats Crawfish: pretty. Good Fried crabs: order the boiled instead Service was. Good

Great service and the best gumbo. Fried frog legs are delicious. If you want good seafood I would highly recommend Seafood Place! Easy to accommodate large groups.

Clearly a spot where the locals go! Seafood Palace is simple, casual, family-style seating, low maintainance- NOT fancy, but great food place. If you want a simple, but great fresh seafood meal, this is your spot. Servers were no-fuss and efficient. There is a separate bar area. Big menu with everything you're hoping to find. Great place!

This was my husband first experience with crawfish. It was the prefect place to take him! The Seafood Palace did not disappoint! The staff is very friendly, food was cooked perfectly, and the restaurant itself is comfortable and has a local feel.

As always the only place I go when I'm in Lake Charles. The hometown atmosphere is everything. The staff as always super friendly and the service is top notch. All of their food is good, however, boiled crabs are my favorite.

As always, good food, good basic atmosphere. Someplace you feel at home. Fantastic service (Alice), never a disappointment.

This place oozes Cajun and southwest Louisiana the moment you walk in. The smells the old school atmosphere, everything is as Louisiana as it gets here. The menu has everything fried, boiled, or grilled that could possibly want. Surprisingly they have a really good shrimp taco with a Cajun flair. They also have a wide variety of healthy things as well. Highly recommend this for a casual lunch or dinner.

Food is amazing but had an issue with flys, but food was very good! Will be going back when in Lake Charles!

Good and service was excellent! My husband had fish and shrimp and I had stuffed crab. Everything was really good!

We had another phenomenal evening eating crabs at David's place. There's not another place in town except for maybe Cousin's that has such superb service and unique character within their environments. If you've been hesitating on getting crabs, please don't. We ate these middle of July. These are the biggest I have seen them all year! Check out my photos. And hurry along!

Ate here today with my father. It was our first visit, but it will not be the last! We both got the large seafood platter so we could try a bit of everything. It was all truly delicious! My favorite might have been the stuffed shrimp or the fish, which was fried to perfection! No less than three staff members, not including the server made their way past our table to greet us. Service was top notch. Restaurant was clean and filled with bright conversation. This is the kind of place I enjoy supporting! Will definitely give it another go!

This place is just so much YES, y'all. It was recommended by my local family which usually means the place is amazing... and it was. I was sad the crabs were sold out but also pretty surprised they even had them at that point in the season. The crawfish was beautiful. I would 100% revisit

Food was awesome. The service was one of a kind, very professional. They didn't skip in their food. There was plenty on the plate.

When you think about Cajun food.......THIS is probably the best between Lake Charles and New Orleans.......it simply doesn't get any better!....

We had the seafood gumbo as an appetizer and my wife ordered the fish & shrimp platter, and I ordered the fried oysters. The food and the service was excellent.

The gumbo , the boudin balls , sadly i had a bad 1st of year crawfish experience, it was lacking in flavor and was cold...I should have said something when i got them but for whatever reason I didn't.

Food was great and service was excellent. Parking is lacking but getting there early helps alleviate the lack of.

I recently spent a couple of days in Lake Charles for a funeral. It's been about 1 1/2 years since I last came here. I walked into the bar side of the restaurant and the bartender said, howdy stranger it's been a long time. Would you like a budweiser? Isn't that what you drink? It's been a couple of years.....would you like to order crabs again? Last time you were here was for your daddy's funeral. What brings you back? Well another funeral. I was blown away at how she remembered me, my drink and order after almost two years. Well the crabs did not disappoint. They were spot on with flavor, perfectly seasoned and cooked. I came back the next day to meet family on the restaurant side. My sister was there and she told me they were out of crabs so I was going to pass and keep going to Houston. Well about 30 minutes later she called and new crabs just showed up. So I diverted and was amazed at these crabs, they were brown bellies and full full full. Even better than the day before. I will be back soon before there is another funeral.

The food was delicious! We got crawfish boulettes for an appetizer they came with ranch and a mildly spicy Asian dipping sauce both were great as a dip, can't say we prefer one over the other. We got a bowl of seafood gumbo it was so yummy, it could have used more crab but it did have lots of shrimp ! We got the Seafood Platter everything was fried to perfection! We also got some boiled crawfish and man oh man, they were SO GOOD! They cook'em spicy like you do at home, absolutely the best out, anywhere! Try them! The salad was good and crispy fresh, nothing soggy about it. Sarah was our server and she was FABULOUS, on top of all of our needs and wants. She was very happy to serve us and had a great attitude and a helpful spirit!‍ it is a normal little cafe atmosphere where you come to eat some great food and enjoy visiting with your table and even tables around you. Very clean establishment with everyone we came in contact with friendly and personable. We will be going back soon!!!

Stopped in for some boiled crabs. Heavy, full of meat, good sized crabs. Just the right level of heat for me. I will be back.

We stopped by here for some crabs, and while it was disappointing that they didn't have boiled crabs, my wife did enjoy the fried crabs. I had the boudin balls and duck tenders, both were just OK. The fried seafood platters that other tables were ordering looked really good.

Best in Lake Charles by far. When Pattie was alive, we heard of a place below Jennings, across the Mermentau River; we went down there, did not eat, because we were not impressed with the place, so we left. The food may have been great, but the entry way, the crowdedness, and standing in line to order were not kosher for us. I still eat at Seafood Palace regularly, and at Hollier's [O'yeas] in Sulphur since I prefer seafood...all the time.

Boiled Crabs: three things that take my joy out of eating boiled crabs, too dirty, too dead (crabs should be boiled alive), or too many females (female crabs have eggs sometimes and they can have a different flavor, I like them but rather not have all females) . Of course seasoning and fullness are important. But I won't eat dirty or dead.

My husband and I ordered the gator bites, shrimp & crab gumbo and the chicken & sausage gumbo. The gator was extremely good!!! We highly recommend ordering them. The shrimp and crab gumbo was horrible, I couldn't even finish it. It was way too salty and the shrimp & crab didn't seem real. The chicken and sausage gumbo was good, according to my husband. Everyone that works there is extremely nice. My husband and I do recommend coming here just stay away from the shrimp and crab gumbo.

Service was prompt and cheerful. Portions were ample. Stuffed crab and husband has the small seafood platter. We both had gumbo. In general, the food was mediocre. Both gumbos were thin, and while mine had plenty of little shrimp, there was very little crab and no vegetables at all. Husband's had plenty of sausage and chicken, but likewise no vegetables. Fried shrimp were very good. Hub said the fish and oysters were ok. The stuffed crab had little if any crab, and was under seasoned. Not terrible, just disappointing. Overall we paid about $85 including tip. I'd try elsewhere next time.

First thing is the service here was superb! They are so friendly and attentive. We had appetizers of hush puppies, fried jalapeño crab stuffed, & fried pickles. All were good. We had chicken and sausage gumbo, potato salad and fried shrimp. All was very good. We ordered 8 lbs of boiled crawfish and that was where we were disappointed, it was over cooked so therefore so hard to peel it took forever. That was our biggest complaint here.

Been coming here since I was a kid! Love this place. Crab patty is the best and the fried crabs and crawfish are amazing. I always have this place on my 'must eat' list when I come visit home.

Service was excellent. Waitress was very attentive. Food came out faster than I expected. Parking is a little tough but it worth it.

Service was good, like a big cafeteria, with long tables to sit at. The food was just OK. Nothing to brag about. The grilled chicken salad was a small amount of lettuce and some pieces of microwave chicken (privously frozen) a few chunks of tomato and cucumbers. Squeeze packets of dressing. At about $12 kinda NOT worth it. Save your money and go to Wendy's or some place else.

I was craving some gumbo while visiting Lake Charles and I was glad Seafood Palace was open. The chicken and sausage gumbo had a rich flavor to it and the fried okra was tasty. Even their sweet tea was good. The only thing I didn't care for was the batter on the fried shrimp. Other than that, the service was excellent and the employees were very kind.

My first visit was off the chain! My second visit was sub par. It is busy and loud and wait staff isn't supremely attentive. Amarillo is bad outside.

I love Seafood Palace! My husband loves their seafood gumbo. Their boiled seafood, stuffed crabs, and crab cakes are consistently delicious, service is good, and we rarely have to wait long for a seat.

While driving through Lake Charles, Yelp led me here as it was dinner time. Located less than 10 minutes from I-10, I thought I would take the chance that the drive was worth it. It's located at the end of a strip center with parking in front and on the side. After being seated, I realized that this is a large restaurant with 4 different dining rooms. My order was for the large chicken and sausage gumbo for $11.95. The food came out in less than 10 minutes. A nice big bowl of gumbo is what I wanted and got. With crackers, it was a very good tasting meal with the accompanying bowl of rice. Nice dark brown roux with a rich cajun flavor with plenty of content (chicken and sausage). If that's what you are looking for, you'll be happy here. I would like to return to sample other menu items and will keep this place in mind the next time I am passing through. Table service was good.

The food was fresh and hot. The waiter was attentive and polite . Home style dinning atmosphere.

My wife likes to gamble, I don't. So when its her turn to pick the trip and she chooses Lake Charles, and spending her time in the casino, I'm out looking for good restaurants in southern Louisiana. I found this place after getting tired of fighting the crowds at Steamboat Bills and sure happy I did.. it seems to be where the locals go. Good crawfish, fried foods and boiled crabs (when in season).

The catfish and shrimp are amazing! The fried crabs, not so much. Definitely not worth the $25 bucks for 6 crabs. Maybe a spoon full of crab meat combined is what you get after making a mess.

First time here. I do not recommend. I'm a foodie. Not to downplay any company but the food was absolutely bland!! No flavor! I got the fried shrimp and fish dinner and the crab and shrimp gumbo. I paid 8.95 for the gumbo. (Which was a small size) It needs more flavor. Mann I was so disappointed!! Y'all dropped the ball on this one but the Customer Service was on on point!! Only thing good was the salad.

Doesn't look so lively from the street (mirrored glass windows) however inside is colorful and picnic style seating. The food was great, wish we would have gotten the boiled crab and shrimp. That seemed to be the popular choice this night. All together service was great and food was great.

Not the best I had down here. The service was prompt when I first arrived but slow thereafter. I had to get up and ask for more napkins and refills on my drink. The crawfish were really small. It was overpriced in my opinion. The server was a really nice young lady but I only saw her once after I placed my order and that was at a distance. Maybe it was a bad night (they were really busy). And maybe the crawfish just aren't bigger because it's winter. I'd like to think I just had really high expectations since my Ex Son in law is from down here in LA and he claimed the crawfish were so much bigger than what we have at home in VA. I'm betting that is most likely the case since he lied about so much and so many times! I will try them again when the weather warms up and hopefully will have a better review.
