I did not have a big appetite today , so I just ordered the House Special Fried Rice. Crab is their specialty - it was $59 today, but I felt it was too big for myself. House Special Fried Rice - had crab meat and dried scallops. It was quite good with that authentic wok hey flavor.

Came for dinner with family for a casual dine-in. The staff is friendly and you can totally speak to them in ToiSan/Canto if you wish to feel like you're right at home. Food is typical of these restaurants - some dishes like the SALTED FISH WITH EGGPLANT is delicious but oily, and other dishes can be overly salty and overly oily. Their SOUPS are absolutely delicious and steal the show but there's always too much stuff and not enough liquid. It's got a good variety of dishes to choose from and prices are pretty much on par for the area. At the end of the meal you'll get a warm blend of sweet taro dessert (not the the red bean thankfully). Parking is shared lot so during busy hours you might just have to park on the street.

We had lunch on Chinese New Year day. The live crab was delicious and fresh. Other dishes were tasty as well. We came with friends for dinner for different occasions. Some of the dinner selections were unique. If you order any dishes that were in photos on the wall, you can't go wrong. Those signature dishes were an excellent choice.

Fresh seafood with great tasting. I ordered the pan fried oyster pancake and garlic shrimp. Both were great. Worth a try

On a visit to Monterey park, we were in the mood for Chinese food, our friends recommended seafood palace, located on Garvey ave. Took forever to find an empty parking spot, as it’s very busy place. We were party of five, so we had the chance to order multiple different dishes to share. The house special crabs, kind of spicy with lots of minced roasted garlic, looks and taste great, The house special pork hock, deep fried skins and also was very delicious. My favorite was the diced steak French style it was fabulous! We also ordered some vegetables shredded taro with chives very good. The house special giant prawns has great taste and spices. All in all it was good experience, it came to around $35 pp. I will definitely come back to try other dishes.

Google
Top tier Chinese restaurant with excellent consistency. I’ve visited this restaurant twice now, and both times every dish has been amazing (except for fish pot). The house special crab is delicious though difficult to eat. The fried cod is wonderful as well. It’s very crispy on the outside and so tender on the inside. Best fried fish I’ve had. Squab was interesting to try. Flavor and texture were both pretty good, but not worth the price in my opinion due to the small portion and similarity to duck/chicken. Mushroom beef stir fry is a hidden gem in this restaurant. It’s not featured as a house special in the images on the walls, but achieves restaurant level stir fry with its glistening and tender mushrooms, flavorful beef, without excess oil/grease underneath. A dish very difficult to make at home. The string beans also exceed expectations; they have just the right consistency with the outer layer of skin slightly wrinkling, but a cooked crunchy interior. Friendly suggestion to this restaurant would be to consider making a house special fried fish! The fish was quite good but I don’t like the sweet and sour sauce it came with, and I think it could be improved by adding the fried garlic bits that are the hallmark of a bi Feng tang dish. Would love this place even more with a bi Feng tang fish! Service was also great. Plates were switched out frequently because we were eating the crab, and when I dropped a chopstick someone noticed immediately and brought me a new pair. Appreciate it!

Parking can be rough but sometimes you might find a spot right in front like we did today! Or there is plenty of street parking. They take credit card. Plenty of tables and no reservations are taken. Service can be a little hard to get their attention but the waiter who helped us was really friendly. You will have to order rice separately but the tea is free and has a good roasty taste. We ordered the infamous shredded taro and chives (SO delicious) and the amazing beef dish (forgot the name but it’s one of their house specials). There were other dishes as well but these two are my favorite! Both pretty expensive at $22 or $25 per a dish. But it is tasty and my parents love this place!!

Google
Consistent delivery of high quality Cantonese food over years! We were here 15 years ago, liked it so much that we went twice in our week-long vacation. We came a couple of times this year after we moved here and are impressed with the consistent great flavor in the food. What makes this place great is there is no bad dish (of what we tried), which isn’t common even among LA’s great Chinese restaurants. Quick service both times recently, the servers could smile more. :-)

Yelp
We got food poisoning after eating their special. Beef was ROTTEN MEAT Horrendous pain.

Yelp
Date of visit: 09/08/2024 Not my first visit at this location. Still sad they decided to close their Rowland Heights branch. Craving for BI FUNG TANG CRAB and this place literally has the best of it! The other things I always order here: - French style diced filet mignon - House special scallop Chiu chow style - dried scallop egg white fried rice - honey walnut shrimp (not pictured) - mashed taro dessert - bell pepper with ground pork Pics were from the last 2 visits incld 9/8/24

Yelp
I went to Seafood palace yesterday with my friends and it was a good experience. This place has authentic cantonese food. I like the seafood bean curd, beef with vegetable. Seafood here is fresh too, we had the live shrimp and crab. Price is reasonable.

Jun W.

Yelp
After eating so much seafood, this seafood restaurant is still very good. The service is good and the food is delicious. It is very suitable for parties or large groups. I came here only for one dish, the signature crab! It is fried in egg yolk and sprinkled with fried garlic. What's not to like?

amy w.

Yelp
I haven't been back to this restaurant for over 10 years. We got a table right away which is awesome since we are super hungry after the movie. Friendly staff and very helpful. The chicken was ok, not the best. Everything else was ok. For it's price, it is not too bad. If you are looking for something fast and easy to eat, this would be a great choice. It's not for someone that has high expectations. I give it a 3 star since it's food is good for it's price.

Anthony V.

Yelp
Came here during Chinese new year. Best dish was the Asparagus jellyfish and fried snow fish. Decent seafood and free dragon performance!

Jenny V.

Yelp
Parking out front, very limited. Great service, food here is delicious. Great for parties or big group. Garlic crab: a must Walnut shrimp: yum Chinese Broccoli: yum

Jonathan K.

Yelp
I only come here for one dish, the house special crab! It's deep fried in egg yolk and loaded with fried garlic. What is there to not like? It can be a little pricey, however. They also have a pretty extensive menu if crab is not your thing. Service is spectacular! They change your plates frequently, especially if you have a lot of bones/shells on your plate. Wet nappies are provided when dealing with shellfish. It is a typical Chinese restaurant where it can get loud if it's busy.

Lauren X.

Yelp
If you want, really authentic Hong Kong Chinese food this is the place to be. The garlic crab is hands-down amazing. Every item on here will not disappoint. If you're a fan of fresh fish, they will literally get you the fresh fish and you can examine before deciding. Pricewise is very reasonable especially for lunch hours special. The place has been remodeled so it's very big and bright. Does not look dirty at all! Service extremely attentive. Once sad thing as they do not give the complementary dessert anymore after your meal. No soup or fruits. But overall, a very pleasant experience.!

Yelp
Had a great experience here on a Saturday night. No wait to get a table, maybe because it was raining earlier. Service was so good, prompt, and professional. Easy to raise your hand and make eye contact to get someone to help. Requests for plate change, wet naps, water, packing up, helping clean up a spill, and get the check were all dealt with nicely. 18% tip was included on the bill for parties of 6 or more, and the waiter was clear and friendly in mentioning it to prevent me from over-tipping. House special crab was $70. Very tasty as everyone already knows. Salt and pepper squid was light and crispy with a nice chew of the squid. Steak cubes with satay sauce was generously portioned with many large chunks of beef, but maybe the chunks were too big. The texture nor the satay sauce were a hit at our table. Soy sauce duck with tofu was pretty good, especially when using the vinegar dip as it should be. The duck was well seasoned, was meaty, and not fat. Fried seabass with garlic sauce was ok. Frying seabass didn't seem to match the texture of the fish IMO. Better steamed or baked as more typically seen. Chinese broccoli with dried fish was fragrant with nice wok hei. Can't make it like this at home! Had to park across the street as the lot was full even though it was a relatively quiet night. They were right around full capacity.

Charles K.

Yelp
Returned hoping for another great experience and the food did not disappoint! I would recommend their Fish w/ black bean sauce and Honey Walnut Shrimp. Amazing food, reasonably priced. There was an extremely loud, large group there, who definitely drank more than they could handle. My group could barely hear each other even though we were several tables away. The staff did nothing about this sadly. Thankfully it only lasted about 45 minutes. Most of all, looks like they had a mini-remodel. I loved their new painting deco! It's most likely featuring a new modern art style that gives the viewer the ability to change the primary focus of the art. For example, it may appear that some paintings are out of position, but once you tilt your head, it's actually the surrounding paintings that are off instead. Jk, it's actually unacceptable. As a yelp elite and honorary regular who is still giving 5-star, I demand that this be corrected ASAP! If you saw it, you would know what I'm talking about. Someone, please help us all out and bring this to their attention! For your sake, I sincerely hope that they get this straightened out by the time you arrive. You're welcome.

Yelp
Visit med this place after a few years and was glad they still have lunch specials during weekdays. The food came quite fast. There was free soup and bowls of white rice too. But the cooking was a notch above most restaurants including NBC takeout. I really loved the salt and pepper pork chops, so tender and delicious. Will definitely return. Lunch specials are dine in only.

Yelp
Food bad, service bad. Lamb casserole wasn't fresh, the lamb was smelly, too tough to swallow. We ordered everything from clams to veggies. All bad. Vegetable was hard--hardly cooked. Seafood noodles had only 3 pieces of shrimp. 2 male and 1 female wait staff, all chatting rather than waiting any table. And no wonder there weren't many tables to wait. Came here before covid, this place has changed since.

Helen K.

Yelp
Stopped here for a late lunch so the restaurant was almost empty. We came for the House Special Crab and oh my god it was delicious and plentiful, the waiter said it was a 3 pound crab! Deep fried and piled high with an amazing amount of fried garlic. This is a feast. Not greasy at all. The crab was easy to get out of the shell and was so fresh and perfectly cooked . They have a lot of other things on the menu so go with friends and share a few dishes. The service was attentive and the restaurant is very clean and modern looking.

Chien C.

Yelp
Good food good service good prices. The place looks very unimpressive from the outside but the inside is spacious and tastefully decorated. Will be back.

Jason Y.

Yelp
Do you like crab? Do you like garlic? Do you like the scent of the mixture of the two permeating through every crevice of your car seat to the point where others get in and go, "Did you go to Seafood Palace?" And with that, all you can do is just smile. I've been here now on and off for the better part of 10 years. I used to get the house special crab along with filet migon cubes, but nowadays I just go for the crab. It's clearly the one thing that they do better than any restaurant in the San Gabriel Valley area that I can recall.

Carmen D.

Yelp
Love their house special crab and taro dessert! They also have done-in only lunch specials.

Kim C.

Yelp
Best House special crab! All the little bits of fried garlic are so tasty on rice. Despite all the chili, it isn't spicy. And it isn't dried out, and there is plenty of crab meat! 10/10 My family loves coming here but this is my first review. They have plenty of large tables for 10. Great service, extensive menu with pictures as well as pictures on the wall. The staff gives everyone water, makes sure tea is refilled and frequently comes by to change out your plate for a clean one. They also give you those packages hand wipes. And they take credit cards! House special chicken is tasty. It is served room temp and with the ginger scallion sauce- which also great in rice! 10/10 Spareribs with bitter melon in broth. Bitter melon was quite bitter. Not much meat or spareribs. Not my thing. 4/10 Braised pork belly- so soft and flavorful. 8/10 Lettuce wraps- couldn't really taste a distinct taste. Iceberg lettuce was crisp and fresh. The meat mixture had a great texture but not much taste despite adding hoisin sauce on the wrap. 5/10

Yelp
I was visiting from Chicago and I was disappointed at the service here. I felt like we were treated like 2nd class citizens because we weren't ordering in Chinese or weren't Chinese. As for the taste I didn't enjoy the flavors and that could just be that I'm used to Cantonese style Chinese food we always get in Chicago. We ordered a noodle dish that I told the server how I specifically wanted and she gave us chow mein soft yellow eggs noodles when I said wide flat rice noodles. Clearly there was a miscommunication and they did try to remake it but we got so full we told them to just pack it to go. We spent over $350 and they added gratuity automatically. I don't plan on ever visiting this establishment ever again

Kyle W.

Yelp
I went here to try their signature house special live crab (salt, pepper, crispy garlic), along with other dishes like chiu chow special porridge, soy sauce duck with tofu (whole), and house special chicken lettuce wrap. It was not too busy when we went around 5pm, though it was busy but with some empty seats still around prime dinner time around 6:30pm when we left. Typical of Chinese restaurants here, we got served tea, and we also requested some ice water on top. The crab is pretty good, meeting my high expectations. I love their crispy garlic that they put in, and the meat is quite fresh and sweet. However, the meat can be a bit tricky to take out in some parts. Currently it's around $25 per pound so it was $76 for the crab. The chiu chow special porridge is also very good - it is soup with rice, but the rice to water ratio is lower than that found in a typical porridge. Additionally, the dish also has some oysters, shrimp, etc which makes the price tag more worthwhile compared to the standard fried rice dish they offer. Soy sauce duck with tofu is marinated well. I love how they do not have much bone, so for the majority of the pieces, you can just eat it without much effort. Also, there is not too much fat under the skin. The tofu is very soft and flavorful as well. House special chicken lettuce wrap is decent. I like the crunchiness to it, and there is a good amount of vegetables. The slight downside, but fortunately they did make aware of that for us, is that the menu price is not accurate, and that the dish is $4 more. Service is very good especially for a Chinese restaurant, as they actively clear your dishes periodically as the crab shells accumulate, and they fulfill requests fairly quickly when you flag them down. This is one of the better restaurants in the area, albeit on the pricier side.

Darren L.

Yelp
I got pictures from last month because we went to Seafood Palace at Monterey Park in Los Angeles. Me and my family try the clams with basils, ground beef with spinach, and Steak Chinese Style at the restaurant. Also, we got the House Special Prawns and the green bean dish. We used to have crabs at this restaurant last night.

We ordered the infamous shredded taro and chives (SO delicious) and the amazing beef dish (forgot the name but it's one of their house specials). There were other dishes as well but these two are my favorite! Both pretty expensive at $22 or $25 per a dish. But it is tasty and my parents love this place!!

Doreen T.

Yelp
My family has been coming to this restaurant for probably close to 30 years? I'm so happy they are still around. Service is actually not bad considering it's a cantonese restaurant, you may just have to flag and wave your hands a couple times. They do take reservations for large groups and you are welcome to bring your own cake for celebrations. The portion is great for sharing family style for lunch or dinner. Their best dish is the House Special garlic onion fried crab. So tasty and delicious! Their menu is massive so there's something to please everyone. Other items we like are french style beef, stir fry scallops, & pan fried noodles. Parking is hit or miss here because the lot is very small, but you can always find street parking around the corner.

Anny O.

Yelp
Beef with Chinese broccoli 3/5 - this dish was very oily and the meat wasn't tender, kinda chewy. I would skip this dish. Chiu chou chicken 5/5 - I liked this dish. It has good flavor and paired with some soy sauce jalapeño and rice it's very tasty! It is pretty salty though so you do need to eat it with rice. White fish with vegetables 4/5 - nothing special with this dish but it was a good comforting dish.

Lin D.

Yelp
We went in because there were a lot of diners but the food is not good! Regret going in.

Dan L.

Yelp
After being (more or less) unceremoniously told to GTFO (for not having papers) by a staff member at Big Catch, we ended up having dinner here instead. I guess it all worked out in the end, because the food was satisfying and the service was acceptable (a little surly and inattentive at first, but progressively more polite and proactive as time went on). Also, there was plenty of parking available (we came during a slow hour - around 4pm), the food was brought quickly after ordering (likely because we were the only ones eating there), and the seating was comfortable. The restaurant ambiance/decor is simple, but still feels at least somewhat elegant.

Eric F.

Yelp
This is a great old place - harkening back to the days when Monterey Park was the Key-Stone of ALL Hong Kong style seafood places in LA, and Garvey was the "Magnificent Mile" of the San Gabriel Valley for Chinese Restaurants. Today things in this area are different, as the shops, markets, hotels, and restaurant malls along nearby Valley Boulevard dominate the Chinese Immigrant Food Culture in Southern California if not in All of the US. But at least Seafood Palace on Garvey still stands. Eat Here - for a taste of the past.

Marty W.

Yelp
With so many Chinese restaurants in Monterey Park, it is hard to find one that has that right balance of food quality and taste, service, Cantonese cuisine style, ambiance and convenience as well as price. We had gone for many years to the Empress Harbor restaurant but its closure more than a few years ago had left a void in restaurant choices for our family. But Seafood Palace may have filled that void. We had a very nice meal there last week with good variety and taste. We need to go back to try more dishes, including some of their signature dishes. Posting a current menu as well.

Novia E.

Yelp
It's been our to-go restaurant whenever we have relatives come over or just for a regular family gathering. This hits differently if you compare it with Newport Seafood (Tancang) because the way they cook lobster and crabs is different. We love their garlic crab, and they have plenty of seats for the weekend night - make sure to make an rsvp! They also have that traditional taro soupy dessert, I'm not sure what's the Chinese name for it, but my family ordered it and I remember I used to have it when I was a kid. Definitely recommend this place for family dinners - or if you are fond of family style.

Stephen C.

Yelp
Great place to eat with your parents for some authentic chinese food. The soups are flavorful and comes out hot. The seafood is going to about the best choice. Great lobster and crab dishes cooked a couple different ways. Im a sucker for the sweet and sour pork. They also have a variety of veggie dishes for you to choose from. One of our favorite dishes here is a pork lettuce wraps (that you wrap yourself). V good. The parking lot is still small so you might have to park on the street a little further down the neighborhood. It isn't too bad tho. Overall: Will return when im with my parents.

Toddy J.

Yelp
I ate there once before with my Brother. We Wyler in the restaurant. He's been there before. Portion was enough for us with left overs. I really liked their food. I went today, and I ordered the same thing. Potions were way smaller. Not worth what I paid for. Too much white rice for main dishes.

Helena V.

Yelp
Not a bad place to try if you enjoy Chinese seafood dishes. Only gave it a 3 stars because the food was okay, but the price is a little above average. It's known for its house special crabs, but my family tried the lobster. It was one of the better dishes that I liked. Pros: - Enjoyable for seafood lovers - Dessert taro soup was good - Tables are spread out, so you don't feel crowded when eating - Customer service was okay. - A good variety of dishes to choose from the menu Cons: - Limited parking spaces in their lot, you can find parking on the streets - Dishes were a little pricey, and it wasn't like the flavor was anything special or made me feel it was appetizing that I want to come again. And some of the dishes were salty.

Pauline W.

Yelp
Food was delicious and gave us plenty of food for the lunch special during the week. We had king pao chicken. Fish filet with vegetable, beef with vegetables. It also came with soup. Service was great.

Krysten I.

Yelp
We originally chose Seafood Palace to order take out from because we were going to get crab. But because there were 5 of us and we aren't that great at sharing, we decided to scratch the crab idea and get a bunch of dishes.... to share. I know, make it make sense! Lol We ordered the e-Mian, the house special pork rib lets, the house special garlic shrimp, the house special cold ginger scallion chicken and the green beans. It was a delicious meal and we had lots of leftovers for the next day. The man taking our order was decent enough and quoted us 15 minutes, which I thought was a little surprising. 15 minutes to make all that food? I guess it's Chinese food lol. I think my favorite dish was the shrimp. The shrimp was cooked well and it was crispy. The fried garlic bits made it even better. I guess next time we'll have to get the crab since it's prepared the same way. The beans, pork, chicken and noodles were all decent, but I feel like I've had better elsewhere. It wasn't bad in anyway, just not as good. Haha seafood palace is still a great choice for Chinese food!

Que M.

Yelp
Haven't been there quite a while so I wanted to have a try . Have been there twice this month and quite satisfied with the ambiance , special prices and quality of service . Highly recommend for dinner for a good meal in a nice bright, quiet setting where you can carry a conversation.

Kathleen L.

Yelp
This place so far is the best that I've eaten in LA. The food is very delicious. The price is reasonable and the service is pretty friendly. I would come again.

Alyse T.

Yelp
Food is always authentic, and service prompt. Our go-to Chinese spot in San Gabriel valley!

Gabby L.

Yelp
My family and I came here because the line for a nearby restaurant was way too long and man, are we happy we did! We had heard good things about this restaurant and were so pleased to find out they were all true! We tried the salt and pepper squid (think calamari but better), the French style beef, noodles (not sure the name) and finally, the house special Crab. Everything was absolutely delicious and so flavorful! The beef was so tender and it tasted like garlic bread, but garlic BEEF! The calamari was breaded perfectly. The crab was to die for! They even included towelettes to wipe your hands afterward (how thoughtful). The noodles were a perfect addition to everything else. I can't wait to come back and I can't say enough great things about this place. Service was fast and friendly, we came on a weeknight so there wasn't a lot of people. The restaurant was clean and well put together. All in all, an amazing experience. 100/10 recommend visiting!

Patrick C.

Yelp
Had fried Dungeness crab, ma po tofu, stir fried snow pea leaf, stir fried green beans, a jalapeño stir fry dish, fried pork chops, eggplant, hainan chicken, and a stir fried fish dish. All were excellent, seafood is really fresh. Service was prompt and overall pretty clean and well lit.

Anita W.

Yelp
I ate there many times. The food is pretty good. I used to order house special crab and other dishes. I am a crab lover, so I always order the crab in the restaurant. I never paid attention on the bill until one day I ordered two dishes. The bill came out hundred dollars, I was very surprised and looked on the bill. The house special crab was $70. Are you kidding me?!?!? One crap $70? it's now worth it. That's a RIP OFF!

Eric L.

Yelp
Food here is good, but they got my to go order wrong. I would recommend checking your bag before you leave.

Alex C.

Yelp
I visit here once a while for the crab but NEVER AGAIN! The only dish good here is the house special crab. Others are just meh and overpriced. I suggest you guys to go new lucky seafood right across the street for better food , better service and the price is more reasonable over there as well. Here is my horrible experience at seafood palace that I have to share. I made a call in the morning to make a reservation for party of 7 @ 7:30pm. The lady on the phone said it is not busy today so just come here by that time and she told me she has made the reservation for me. I repeated myself couple times to her it is 7:30 for party of 7. Once we arrived at 7:28 it seems like every table was full. I asked them I had made reservation why didn't you guys reserve my table. The lady yelled at us "You guys are late! Your reservation was 7:00. " I told them I am pretty sure I repeated on phone a couple times the reservation I made was 7:30 not 7:00. I expected an apology from them. But they chose to blame the customer when THEY were wrong! I'm also glad I left there immediately with my family and friend cause the food and service was far better at New Lucky Seafood a couple blocks away.

Janet C.

Yelp
The food here is absolutely delicious. Every dish I ordered was beautifully prepared and full of flavor. I came with my family for a birthday dinner and everyone was very satisfied. Definitely coming again. This is a must try!

Kelly O.

Yelp
Seafood palace is a place we like to frequent for lunch.... However, since the reopening they do not offer lunch specials for dine in. You must order Fri. Their dinner menu which is 2x the price. Lunch specials are still available but only for to go. Dinner menu is overpriced. We stayed but we're disappointed. We ordered 5 dishes: House special fried rice- it's a crab fried rice and very good. 5/5 stars Salt and pepper squid- also yummy but lacked salt - 4/5 Seafood chow mein (crunchy noodle) - also good. Filled with seafood. The scallops and shrimps were big. 5/5 Beef and mushroom - a little too sweet but over OK. - 4/5 Honey walnut shrimp- the mayo sauce is disgusting. It had a weird odor coming out. It was soggy and over dressed. Avoid at all cost. Walnuts were good. 1/5 (only bc of the walnuts

Leon S.

Yelp
This place is now open for dine in and it's seriously amazing. I saw reviews about gratuity but they've stopped adding any automatically. Of course I still tipped well as the service was great. We came with a large party to celebrate birthdays and ordered a buuunch of plates. Stand outs were the fish, house special crab, lobster noodles, clams, and Szechuan boiled beef. Everything came out quickly and they changed out our dirty plates every time they got full. Great dinner and experience!

Tom C.

Yelp
The food is very good. We just went there. I'm knocking down the full experience by one star because they added a 18 percent tip to the bill. And this was for two people. What the heck? Aren't I the one that decides if this warranted a 18 percent tip (which it didn't)? The service was not bad , just not great. we ordered the House special crab dish (about $55). Plus the crab meat soup and the Chinese broccoli dish. All tasted great. Definitely 4 star or slightly above on just the food. Again, I don't feel the crab dish by itself warrants a $10 tip. the other thing I don't like was the smell of cigarettes from people constantly going out and smoking. We will still likely go again.

Gerry S.

Yelp
First time here at Seafood Palace and we love it!!! Food is so delicious. Nice friendly staff, definitely coming back..

Stella L.

Yelp
First time dining this Guangdong style restaurant here in LA during my vacation time! The food is so tasty we ordered, definitely will come again if next time travelling here!
