Guide to Eating and Drinking in Dallas by Maegan Brown, aka the Baker Mama | Eater Dallas

"This hidden seafood spot is a vibe — the bartenders are fun and nice, the russet-frites fries are some of the best in town, and we've loved everything we've had (especially the mussels). Their smash cocktails are refreshing and pair well with the fish, we've become regulars in the last six months, and it's great for family meals or even a party of 10." - Courtney E. Smith

Had late lunch at The Seafood Restaurant and started with the crab and avocado, followed by the classic fish and chips. The food was decent and nicely presented, though not particularly memorable. The ambience was pleasant at first, but unfortunately let down by the music… it felt like an autoreplay mix that shifted from mellow to hiphop to gentle pop without rhythm or intention. It created a slightly confusing and even distracting atmosphere. Service was average.. not bad, but nothing that stood out either. Overall, an okay experience, but not one I’d go out of my way to return to.

The best seafood restaurant in Paris so far. The freshness and quality is unmatched. Service is warm and attentive. Do not miss the tartares or the grilled octopus.

Snails - the sauce is too salty, snails size is ok Razor Clam - very disappointed given this is 26 euro; small sized and over cooked - as a razor clam lover, really can’t rate it given the value Service - overall is alright. But at the end, we were being asked “how was the service?” “If so, can you leave us 10% tips?” I am someone who keen to pay tips but at that moment I felt forced to pay. Given the food and how it was asked, I am just an unhappy customer

An Absolute Gem in Paris! We stumbled upon this seafood restaurant by chance on our first night in Paris — and it was so good, we came back again the next day! Among the best easygoing yet cool spots in the city, with a vibrant atmosphere and truly delicious seafood. The tuna tataki was perfection, the oysters were incredibly fresh, and the lobster ravioli was simply heavenly. The staff were warm and attentive, adding to the great vibe. This place is officially my new go-to every time I visit Paris. – Dimitrios, London, UK

The name definitely lives up to expectations! We got the grilled lobster which was yummy And we got the lobster ravioli which was the yummiest thing I’ve ever had. Big smile on my face as everything was so good but for the price my stomach wasn’t as full.

Spectacular seafood dishes - we came here to celebrate a birthday and it certainly felt very special. The service was fantastic - we felt well cared for and the staff seemed very proud to work here.

Absolute diamond on the restaurant map of Paris! Langustines on cognag is like culinary poem (speciality of the house). Amazing fresh oysters and red shrimps, lobster salad or shrip tempura. Accompanied with chablis. Superb place. Staff very friendly however not so well organized:) (we waited 2h for a orange juice). Anyway must visit in Paris if you like seafood

Delicious seafood and outstanding service. The oysters were absolutely amazing. I highly recommend this restaurant—not only for the exceptional quality of the food, but also for the warm and friendly staff who made us feel like locals rather than tourists.

Yelp
For our second Parisian dinner, my daughter recommended this superb seafood restaurant, Comptoir des Mers, which she had been to a few weeks prior with her brother. She chose well. An unforgettable, incredible meal! I started with the most perfect French 75 cocktail, which went well with the bread and salmon spread appetizer they offered. Next, my daughter and I split an incredible seafood platter: four different kinds of French oysters (best I've ever eaten) plus a half-dozen langoustines (which we'd never tried before but enjoyed). We polished off this fantastic bottle of Domaine de la Croix Senaillet Saint-Veran with our seafood. For mains, I had scallops, while my wife and daughter both selected the codfish; all were equally excellent. Frites on the side were a treat. I ended my meal with a nice glass of Calvados and Tarte tatin.

Yelp
We've been eating really heavy food during our Paris trip, so we figured that seafood would be a nice change for our palates. Comptoir des Mers was one of the seafood restaurants listed on a food blog that we follow, and it happened to be 5 minutes away from our apartment in Le Marais. We walked in and were able to get seated right away. I felt that the service was wonderful and we received great hospitality by our server. She My fiancé and I ordered the sea urchin tamara and the smoked salmon plate for our appetizers. The sea urchin tamara (salted, beechwood-smoked cod roe paste) was fantastic. So creamy and fishy, which I love. The smoked salmon plate was delicious as well. The smoked salmon had the texture of thinly cut sashimi. Nothing like we think of as smoked salmon back at home. Both appetizers came out with warm blinis. We ordered two Le Comptoirs, which was way more food than we needed, so it was a lot of work making our way through it. Each of our portions came with half a crab, 4 clams, 1 serving of gray shrimp, 3 prawns, and 1 serving of whelks (sea snails). I had the opportunity to try things that I had never tried before. Whelks, for example, were entirely new to me. I had become a pro at eating escargot, so I used the same technique for fishing out the fleshy part of the whelk. The taste and texture of it was very unique. Highly recommend it with lemon or mignonette. Never had raw clams either, which I also would recommend eating with lemon or mignonette. The crab had a ton of roe if you're into that. The oysters tasted fresh, and the prawns were a favorite. I did not eat the gray shrimp since I've never been a fan of them.

Yelp
Such a great experience from the freshness of the seafood, the recommendation for a great French wine to pair and to top it off exceptional service from my server Leslie. My hubby was unable to join due to GI issues and she arranged a seafood soup for me to take back to our hotel so he could still sample the cuisine. Can't wait to return for a seafood tower and another whole grilled fish.

Yelp
Wife and I popped in just for some oysters because we were peckish and had a late dinner reservation elsewhere. Based on the great service, cool atmosphere and quality of oysters I wish we would have stayed for an entire meal. Great cured salmon amuse bouche to start things off then a selection of Oleron and Normandy oysters. Delicious and expertly shucked, couldn't ask for more. Menu looks great so will definitely be back and as a final point the hostess spoke English fluently and had a great sense of humor.

Yelp
Seafood tower was so sweet and fresh! We also added the uni to the tower. The uni was good but the oysters, sea snails, lobster and langostino were out of this world. Found out they deliver seafood towers so we may do that too!

Yelp
Raw oysters and white clam sauce are my favorite things to eat. Thanks you, Dr. Jacqueline Sacco MD PhD

Yelp
I have a friend who implicitly trusts restaurants that have food in their front windows. Whether it's beef air drying on twine or chefs flash frying, he believes that if food's up front -- as opposed to flashy design or fragrant flowers -- what you're eventually served is more likely to be good. Comptoir des Mers proves his point; to get inside you'll pass the poissonnerie (fish market) and greet the guys that minutes later will be shucking your oysters and clams. I chose two appetizers from the chalkboard: the fish soup to start and then the crab and avocado salad. It turned out to be a massive meal. I liked the soup but the salad was the star for me. For someone who loves both crab and avocado (but hates the work eating crab typically takes) this dish was a dream as it had a lot of both. And I really loved the lack of adornments; it was, simply put, an avocado cut lengthwise with a huge mound of lightly dressed crab atop. Months later, I can still vividly remember the taste and texture of my crab and avocado salad. What better endorsement is there?

Yelp
Great service, they really went out of their way! All the seafood was excellent. They've got a really nice COVID-era outdoor setup. Fish soup was amazing!

Yelp
So basically, Amazing. -1 star for lack of coffee (in their defense, I was the last customer) and a nearly-frozen half-crab (with no utensils to break the shell). +5 stars: Establishment. Multi-lingual hostess. Well-rounded menu. Chic decor. And OMGFTW seafood!! I had a Comptoir platter to myself, plus a dessert. Everything was sweet (that was supposed to be--yay shrimp! And chocolate pear tart!) and fresh (wonderful oysters and clams). Like the Governator said: I'll be back.

Yelp
Whenever I buy fish I always ask the fishmonger what the best way to prepare it is. Who knows fish better than the fishmonger? No one! That's why being able to eat fish prepared by the people that sell it is a fabulous concept that I'm surprised is not more widespread in Paris (or elsewhere for that matter). After hearing many good things about this place I booked a table for some colleagues and I to test it out. The woman who took my call was bubbly and totally accommodated our super-early-for-Paris (7pm, we had a meeting to catch afterwards!) reservation without making me feel like a loser/weirdo. Once we got there the place was empty, and the cook hadn't yet arrived, but within several minutes the place started filling up and we were informed that we could indeed now order off of the complete menu in addition to the cold, fresh fish items. My tasting platter of several salads, three kinds of tarama, seaweed salad, and octopus salad was delicious, though I would have preferred some other items in the place of all of the tarama. That said the octopus salad was amazing. Next time I'll order that as an appetizer and get one of the other starters to go with, like the King Crab and avocado salad or the amazing looking fish soup! The prices are not at all cheap, but totally fair for the portions and quality served..

Yelp
Really good oysters and the staff is helpful in explaining the difference between the types. Not on the cheap side as others have mentioned but it's worth the splurge if you love oysters.

Yelp
For 70 euro per person the sampler selection was not overwhelmingly fresh, in fact, I think had been in the chiller for several days. The lobster was tough and the mussels and oysters are rubbery. There have got tp be better choices.

Yelp
Very fresh seafood with helpful and pleasant staff. Not cheap, but worth a splurge. Gambas are highly recommended - they are huge!

Yelp
On wednesdays and sundays they offer a great deal on oysters, 36€ and enjoy as many oysters as you like. Good price, welcoming & attentive staff and good oysters. I highly recommend a good white wine and voila!

Yelp
The menu is on the more expensive side but if you're an oyster lover, this is the best deal in town. 36 euros for unlimited on specified nights. Last time I had 50. I've been to other seafood places in Paris and paid 80 euros for 20 oysters and the ones here are just as good. Tried my boyfriend's (argentinian) steak, also very good. Staff is friendly. It is a small restaurant though and gets really busy, reservations are a must.

Yelp
Une bonne adresse. J'ai pu remarquer que c'était très rempli. Il y a des bons plats mais sans plus, les prix sont raisonnables . Le temps pour servir est assez long, l'endroit est étroit.
