The Best Willamette Valley Wine Tastings and Wineries | Eater Portland

"Dispensed from a gleaming silver 1971 Airstream trailer on the winery’s sunny Ribbon Ridge estate vineyard, Sealionne’s casual open-air tasting pavilion and laid-back style are a nice contrast and change of pace from more formal affairs; indoor seating is also available in gloomy weather. The casual vibe fits well with the winery’s mission of making exploratory, adventurous wines through unorthodox methods like three-part aging in oak barrels, stainless steel tanks, and clay amphora. The results have caught the eye of James Suckling, with several 2022 bottles scoring over 90 points. Try pours of Willamette Valley classics like pinot noir and chardonnay along with syrah, cab franc, and rosé. Open from Thursday to Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., appointments are recommended but not necessary." - Katherine Chew Hamilton

We spent a wonderful Sunday afternoon at Sealionne and look forward to going back. The views were stunning and the hospitality was supburb. All of the wine we tasted felt pretty darn special and I am excited to enjoy the bottle of pinot noir we brought home with us.

Sealionne is an unconventional and amazing spot for wine tasting. They have a delicious variety of wines including of course a Pinot and a Chardonnay but also less common varietals. Everything is delicious. They have a covered pavilion with stunning views. Eric took care of our group. He’s extremely knowledgeable and a fun personality.

Piper and Ben have created a space that is welcoming, carefully thought out, and memorable. The views are breathtaking, with you seated under a pavilion in the middle of their vineyards. Peanuts in their shell are on each table as an easy tasty snack and immediately transported me back to being a kid. Their wines are delicious and even their reds feel refreshing in summer. A perfect experience that envelopes you in the beauty of being on a vineyard.

We came with a group of 7 to do a tasting. Excellent service by George, who did such a great job explaining all of the wines and their characteristics. Every wine we tasted was delicious. Wonderful reds and whites as well as a very nice rose

We had a lovely experience at Sealionne! The sommelier was very friendly and knowledgeable. We had a nice private space for our tasting for 7 in the middle of the various wine barrels. I liked all of the wines and I highly recommend booking a wine tasting with them.

So many great wines and such a lovely, intimate experience. We loved every wine we tasted. We were pleasantly surprised by the candlelit table in the middle of the barrel room. Can’t wait to come back and see their other space!
