Wow! Dropped in this place on a spur of the moment and glad we did. They have amazing fish and chips, and I must mention, phenomenal drinks (full bar and a large selection of craft beers). They also have two pool tables, an old school arcade and a shuffleboard table. Just so you know, you order at the bar, they give you a number. and you pick whatever table you want. The waitress/waiter brings your food when ready. If you are looking to hang out for few hours with your family and/or friends, check this place out. You won't be disappointed!

It's a sad day. So to start i have been coming here for over a decade. I rave to people about the bangers and mash. Now it had been a while since I have been in. Alot has changed and not for the better. Luckily the food hasn't changed. It is still the same great food I have always remembered, except the fried pickles. There have gone cheap by going from spears to the coins(not even the good kind). The service has turned to garbage. We went in as a group of 8 to celebrate a birthday. This wasnt happy hour or even in the evening. This was a late lunch at 2pm. There was a couple of tables with other people but NOT BUSY. We get greeted and told to sit any where. Group of 8 handed 1 menu. "If you want more menus you have to ask at the bar." Red flag #1. "When you are ready to order go to the bar too" At this point I'm thinking, "so what do the servers do around here?" We all sit down and start going through our 1 menu. It took sometime. In that time we were approached by not 1, not 2, but 3 different people all telling us to make our order at the bar. I told the last person, "the next person to approach our table to tell us what we already know had better have a pad of paper and pen" When we're ready to order we all got up and headed to the bar. Thats what they wanted. All 8 people got up and made our orders. Bar tender was clearly overwhelmed by this. To think it could have been avoided if 1 person had just taken the order like a normal restaurant. All of this is on one ticket. No splits or multiple orders, all one. They come out with the food and they didnt know where anything went and forgot several items. The appetizer were cold probably because no one communicated we wanted them all at the same time. They asked and we said yes. Now at this point I asked myself, "do they even want a tip?" It's places like this that shoot themselves in the foot then complain that it hurts. I tip good service. To say I've had better service at a mcdonalds would be an understatement. I was appalled by the laziness I saw. Nobody cleared the table of the stack of dishes that piled the end of the table till we were actively leaving. No drink refills. The atmosphere has gone trashy too. Used to be filled with school spirit and Irish paraphernalia. It's an Irish pub in a college town. Not they just put whatever everywhere. One booth looked like a hobby clearance sale of vintage looking comic strip plates. Why? Doesnt fit at all. Food is still great but if they can't get their heads out of their seat warmers, it won't matter. IF I go back it'll be too.

Fantastic restaurant with such fantastic food that I forgot to take pictures of it and just ate it. I totally recommend this is a place if you’re looking for lots of choice in drinks and excellent food.

Spent Halloween 2026 at the Square for the first time, looking to experience something new. I decided to step into Sean Patrick’s first because it looked inviting from the outside — lively, good atmosphere, and plenty of people inside. I figured that was a good sign… turns out, not so much. When I walked in, I noticed an “Order Here” section on the right side of the bar with a long line, but saw others seated at the bar being served directly. So I grabbed a seat and waited to be approached by a bartender. After a long day of work back in San Antonio, I was ready for a cold beer and a hot meal — but instead, I was met with one of the rudest encounters I’ve had in a while. One of the bartenders immediately snapped at me after 5-10mins of me sitting patiently, and yelled “If you’re trying to order here to skip the line, I’m not giving you anything. You can have water.” No greeting, no explanation — just attitude right off the bat. They yelled so loud that everyone in the establishment literally stopped what they were doing to look over. That’s how loud they yelled 😂 As someone who also works in hospitality, I know that’s not how you treat guests, especially first-timers. This isn’t a bad review for Sean Patrick’s as a whole, but for that specific bartender. Management really needs to address that behavior — it completely kills the vibe for new customers. So, are the bar stools just for decoration? 🤔 If you’re planning to visit the Square, skip Sean Patrick’s and head to Valentino’s instead — better service, better food, and better beer. Valentino’s can have my business any day.

I went there this morning with my family to watch football. The food was all VERY good, the Bloody Mary’s were great, and the staff is awesome. There was a mistake with my order and they were really awesome about fixing it. I ended up getting my food to go and HOLY CRAP the chicken fajita tacos are soooo good lol. Even hours later. I’ll be back this place is really cool. Thank you to the ladies who were working this morning. Yall are a great team!

This was a really cool place. We came here because we thought it was a brewery but it was still an awesome place. The beer taps they had were extensive and the atmosphere was great. Even though they do not have their own brews it was still a good place to visit.

Great food and great bar staff. I've not been the about pub food before, but I've got to tell you, Sean Patrick's is the best! I had the chicken strips. You ask, "What can be great about chicken strips?" Well I'll tell you, these were hand drenched and seasoned perfectly, served piping hot with a huge bed of fresh, homemade fries. I loved it!. The bartender was knowledgeable about her craft beers, and super helpful. I couldn't have asked for a more pleasant evening. I'll definitely be returning. Thanks!

Great experience! I ordered the shepherds pie, a side of Mac and cheese, and a side of cabbage. The shepherds pie was 10/10 Mac and cheese was nicely baked and cheesy but a lil spicy (reminded me of rotel queso) The cabbage was amazing 10/10, great seasoning. Definitely coming back for it again.

I was picking my wife up from the train station and we stopped here for dinner. The service was a bit challenged by only having one person working behind the bar ball was taking all of the bar orders as well as all of the food orders so it took a while to get our order in. When the food came out it was hot and tasty. I went for the chicken fried steak. They marinate it in Guinness. It had a nice flavor but it was tough enough that it took a steak knife to cut it. The wife had the shepherd's pie and she thought it was great. It came with a small side salad and made her very happy The staff seems very friendly and does her best to serve people under the constraints they have. I recommend the place and I'll probably go back someday

One of my favorite places as a San Marcos local. Texan burger and fries are awesome, drinks are great.

Wanted fish but the restaurant we wanted to try was not open, so we remembered Sean Patrick's and stopped by for a to go order. I ordered at the bar. The person who took my order was very friendly and fast. It came out fast and hot! We got the fish and chips with slaw. Everything was really good and the portions were good too. Glad we stopped by! We also learned that they are pet friendly too, so bring your dogs, grab a beer, and get some fish and chips. You want me disappointed.

Great beer selection and full bar. There are lots of TVs, pool tables, shuffle board and a patio. Great spot for UFC!

What f'ing bar in a COLLEGE TOWN runs out of Octoberfest beer four days before Halloween?? Lame a** bar ! Dirty, poor service drinks are WAY overpriced! Won't be back. SMH

Today's trip to Sean Patrick's Irish Pub was another one of those weird situations, where I should've been there before. Within the last four years, my college roommate and I have made two trips to San Marcos to visit our old stomping grounds, eat breakfast at Herbert's, and visit any breweries in the area. Although Sean Patrick's has been there since 2005, it never came up in any of our Google searches. We even drove right by it to look at the old Too Bitter. Now, here I am on a trip to Canyon Lake, and it suddenly pops up. That's why I headed over today. I honestly can't say that it brought back any nostalgia from my college days. I can't really remember what it was like back in the 70s when I used to go there all the time to party with my friends at the Too Bitter. But, I really liked the atmosphere in its current form. It has all the charm of an old small Texas downtown building and just enough "dive bar" attitude to make me feel very comfortable. I have to admit that I was a bit disappointed to get there and discover that they only had two beers on tap that were actually brewed there. I was also disappointed to learn that they no longer do flights. The website gives the impression that they have several different beers and has pictures of different flights. However, they do have a really great craft beer selection on tap. I tried their Good Juicy JuJu IPA, and it was pretty good. The menu has lots of interesting things to choose. I kept it fairly simple and had a patty melt with sweet potato fries, which were the highlight of the meal. The sandwich was not the best patty melt I've ever had, but it was passable. They call it a paddy melt, and have switched out some of the traditional ingredients.. I think the thick Texas toast washed out the other flavors instead of adding to them like Ryebread normally does. Doubling the amount of both the provolone and salt in the burger would have made it better. It's really only my problem. I am a fan of the traditional patty melt. I was there at around 1:30 in the afternoon. It was pretty dead at that time. But, about four other couples came in while I was there, ranging from college age to possibly a bit older than me. When my college roommate comes to Texas to visit again, I will definitely bring him to Sean Patrick's for lunch. But, I'm gonna go for some of the Irish selections.

Always a great experience. The chicken pot pie is the best. Always cold beer. Highly recommend.

Fish and chips was good but made me pay for extra ranch and then didn't give me ranch just horseradish and coleslaw in ranch containers, which was F'ing disappointing

Another one of my favorites in town It's been a very long time since I've been back And yet I still live here. But let me just say, nice location downtown. Food is wonderful Service is amazing I need to get back here soon. What I will say is Sean Patrick's is the definition of the Beauty of San Marcos If you are ever visiting or you are moving here, Sean Patrick's is the WAY TO GO!!!!!!!!

After my haircut, my wife and I decided to try out Sean Patrick's for lunch. We heard some good things about it so we figured this was as good a time as any to check it out while we're by the town square. When we walked in, we saw the sign "Line starts here"...so we stood by it expecting someone to acknowledge our presence or, at the very least, wave us over. After a couple minutes of waiting and no wait staff greeting us, I walked on over to the bar and found out diners place food and beverage orders at the bar! That would've been nice to know for first time diners! In any case, we perused the menu and we both ordered off the lunch menu, Irish Boxty with veggie medley for her and Guinness BBQ Pork Chop with mashed potatoes and green beans for me. Service was a bit slow but we weren't famished. My wife loved the veggie medley and really liked the boxty, commenting how tender and flavorful it was, especially the creamy mustard dill sauce. She did say the boxty was just warm and not hot. My pork chop was really good...not the most tender piece of meat but the Guinness BBQ glaze was on point. All in all, we loved the food and the historic ambience of the place. Service, especially for first timers not familiar with the ordering protocol, could be better. Lunch for 2 came out to just under $30.

Always a great time at Sean's! Not only do they have fantastic food but an amazing beer selection. The staff makes you feel at home!!

My son and I stopped by to eat lunch and seater ourselves, per the sign. My son sat at the table while i left for the restroom and we waited for about 6-8 minutes and were never helped. It wasn't busy so not sure why we were not serviced but definitely too long of a time for any customer to be waited on. We left and went to a pizza place down the road and it was super good. We'll give it a shot some other time we are in San Marcos.

Went for the first time in a long time and the food was awesome! All of our meals were great, lots of variety in the menu and fun atmosphere next to the San Marcos square. Fun night out!

Sean Patrick's is a hybrid restaurant and bar. It's a comfortable spot in the middle of downtown San Marcos. It's a "place your order and your work is finished" establishment. Once done and seated, you don't have to worry about your water glass or coffee cup running dry. The entrees are terrific, the kind of comfort food that your mom might cook after a tough day....and she had an Irish heritage. Will definitely be back there when business brings us back to the area.

Good food and many options. More than just bar food and the atmosphere was nice for an afternoon lunch. Prices were good.

WiFi password is Guest2018... I haven't been to Sean Patrick's since I graduated from Texas State in 2011... Not much has changed and I'm glad for that. It was nice to reminisce. Meet a couple for dinner while going through town. They recommended this place because they have "The Incredible Burger", a vegan burger option. They have driven to San Marcos a couple of times from Kyle just for that burger. One got it on a Patty Melt and said the Texas toast was the perfect addition. The other got it on a regular bun. Both with fries. Both disappeared quickly! They also had a Bloody Mary each. The staff was very accommodating in regards to one's request for extra olives. My husband had the fish and chips Irish style, so a Guinness based batter. I had the fish and chips Texas style, so a corn meal based batter. Both were fantastic. I tried some of his. His better was crunchier and crisper than mine. Both were very good. My husband had the Solid Gold lager. He said it was pretty light but good. The overall noise got a little loud quickly but it's a Saturday night in a college town so that's not unexpected. There are a couple of pool tables and several TVs. It's a great college hang out place. Lots of beer options. My husband said there was a trough in the men's restroom... The ladies could have used some attention but mostly well maintained.

Sean Patrick's is a classic San Marcos drop spot. A little Irish gem for Bobcats! It's a fun indoor and outdoor bar and eatery for games especially! They have a variety of beers on tap, great drink specials, and fun bar food, such as sliders, fried pickles, and artichoke dip! It's always a fun time and the vibe is college sports type of vibe! I will say the waitstaff is great, but the biggest piece that was not great was that there is only one place to place your orders, get refills etc and you have to stand in typically long lines, so it was a bit annoying having to stand in a 10-15 min line to order another beer, instead of having a waitress who can simply bring it. But overall it was a great experience, it's fun, and as a bobcat Alum it's always a drop spot when in town!

Never disappoints. Reminds me of my favorite place in Albuquerque when I was still in college.

I've been here before and previously would've probably given 3-4 stars , but they have definitely stepped their game up!!! Me and my boyfriend came in to watch the World Cup game because I remembered this place had tons of tv's, and the most seating out of pretty much any bar in San Marcos . We ordered drinks , chili cheese fries, and a DELICIOUS 2$ scoop of pistachio almond ice cream in a waffle cone . All the food was awesome ( which I can't remember saying in past experiences .) After the game we opted for some shuffle board and darts , which was a great end to an awesome World Cup game . Couldn't have asked for a better place/ environment for watching , enjoying great food, and hearing a lively crowd !!!

Saint Patrick's block party is a joke. $10 cover charge... you want water to stay hydrated after drinking their coffee beer... $2 a bottle of water. Let's talk about the beer... not a great selection they only have miller (green) beer the worst. 30 min waiting time in line for crappy beer. I'm not doing that mistake again. They had harp but it happen to get broken at the peak of the day. Huh?! If you want good quality head down to the tap room they don't not close all their good beer selection and they had a live music for free. This will be my go to place to celebrate going forward.

If you are looking for some hardcore authentic snooty nosed Irish pub...don't come here (lad or lass). You're NOT in Ireland! This is Texas! If you are looking for a place with some great food with an Irish flair, you are good to go. If you like cold beer, and a great selection of it, again, you're good to go. If you like good service, yep, good to go. Lots of TV's. Great place to take in a game. Wonderful place to hang out in a college town and pass some time. They've got pool tables, shuffleboard, a nice outdoor patio for you and your dog. Overall, great drink selection. Great beer selection. Tasty food. One of my SMTX faves, and certainly my GO-TO when I am in town!

I will say this was my first time here and I didn't know what to do when I walked in. There was a sign that said to walk around the place and look at the menu and order at the bar but it was super confusing. after we ordered it took 30-40 mins to bring out our food and it was simple dishes ( 2 house salads) we also had our kids with us and the chicken wasn't really cooked all the way. NEVER GET THERE SOUP OF THE DAY! it was supposed to be sausage potato but instead they gave us a veggie stew and it was gross. The service was awful they forgot to bring out three of our drinks and took almost an hour to get our meal to us when we ordered basic dishes. We got 2 salads 2 soups and a order of potato skins. The potato skins were a little bland and could use some more salt and they were very thick could have been cut thinner. The last thing is service was awful period. It looks like they only had 1 cook and about 20 people waiting for food.

We're visiting the area to prepare for a future move, drove past and decided to stop in. So glad we did. My husband had the Texas Philly & I had the chicken pot pie. The pot pie was so good. The crust and gravy were perfect. I wish there was more crust. I had the lunch portion. I'm not sure if the regular portion is bigger but I definitely wanted more.

If I could give a zero that's what this review would be! I almost never give 1 star but this place does not even deserve that!!!! We always visit Irish Pubs everywhere we go and love them. Cool appearance from the outside so we thought cool! Went in and sat at the bar right in front of a bartender, two girls came in after us and sat down. He finished the drinks he was making and then walked over to them to take their order. No problem, maybe he didn't see the order we came in. Poured their drinks right in front of us and still did not even recognize we were sitting there. A guy then came up to the end of the bar and this ASS walks right by us to go take his order! We tried to get his attention and he still ignored us! Asked for a manager and told her what happened and he wouldn't work for me! She said we could sit down and she would wait on us. HARD NO!!!! DO NOT GIVE THIS PLACE YOUR BUSINESS!!'

Specials were crazy good today. Cod for the fish today and app special was an excellent irish egg roll (corned beef and cabbage)

I have been coming here forever and normally it's amazing and a just friendly awesome place. However, today I went for brunch and I've never had more rude service from a bartender. From ignoring people to snide remarks and just overall bad service. It broke my heart being treated this way at a local gem.

I know as simple as it may seem, but the chicken strips are FIRE!! I will seriously crave these things and get up to go there for just that and a nice cold craft beer. Service is super welcoming and the other food is amazing as well!!

The food wasn't so bad, but the servers apparently don't wear pants. Weird. It's counter service, but the people who bring you your food don't have to wear pants.

Excellent pub food, excellent beer selection, great atmosphere. Great place for food, fun, and friends.

Been coming here since it first opened. Many fun memories of wild World Cup soccer matches here BUT now when they are listed as a Pub Club spot for Austin FC, it's a total joke. So sad. We have come for at least 4 games and every single time, we have to ask them for the TVs and audio to be switched over to to the Austin FC game. They usually don't do it till game time! So frustrating especially since they are on the list as an official Pub Club for watching. Clearly I'm not the only one who thinks this as there are never more than 2-4 of us there. We are so disappointed as this USED TO BE the best place to come watch soccer together.

Love the food here, good drink selection too. Great place to watch a Texas State away game.

This place is far from being like an Irish pub with Irish food. Any Non-American visiting would tell you Shepard's Pie is made with lamb and not beef. It's ok to make it with beef but one must correct their menu as it's correctly called "Cottage Pie" when made with beef. Blackjack Burger - Pretty Good Philly Cheese Steak - No Flavour (yes, there's a damn U in it) Smithwicks - Ran Out (pronounced incorrectly... don't say the W) As a immigrant this is far from Irish, in fact so far removed from anything Irish it's an insult. No offense, but an American would never know the bloody difference! In addition, the bathrooms are named "Lasses" and "Boyos".... the ladies is a SCOTTISH name and the men's is WELSH name; no S at the end. This damn place needs to learn some shit really quickly, because they look like fuck'n idiots to everyone out of county. Skip this shit-hole and get a decent beer and food at Aquabrew down the street... you were warned, so go ahead regret it at your leisure!

Always fun to grab a pint of draft beer at Sean Patrick's, very wide selection of brews. Full bar for mixed drinks and good bartenders. Food is tasty, had chicken tenders, fries, southwest egg rolls, burgers, fish and chips, chicken wings at one time or another, all excellent. Has a nice neighborhood bar feel, outdoor patio nice if you want to bring your dog.

No clue why why people are so harsh to my beloved Sean P's! Sure the pandemic brought some changes and things may not always be perfect. But food at SP's has always been top notch, most definitely above a typical "bar food" scale, and somewhere I would enjoy a dinner or lunch with good company on any day. Drink selection is fantastic, tons of TV's, shuffleboard and pool tables available to entertain along with the outdoor patio. Don't let the nay sayers bring her down!

We had 7 in our party and everyone loved their meal, especially the pulled pork. Atmosphere was great and so was the service. Vic was great at recommendations and was patient while we made our decisions. Will definitely be back.

Gross food. Beer is good but eat somewhere else before you get here. I ordered French fríes and quesadillas.. well apparently you can ruin French fries, they tasted like refried oil, the guacamole was brown and old. Not coming back.

1st time here and we were beyond thrilled with the food, drinks and service. We were made aware of the specials immediately and offered lunch portions. Bangers and mash was excellent! We will be back!

A few years a go I used to be a huge fan of this place and their food. Recently, I have been (not for food), and have not been that impressed. They are out of the majority of their beers on tap on Sunday's, the restrooms are dirty and our waitress did not know much about the beer. On anther note, for an Irish bar they only have 3 Irish beers- most of which they were out of. I cant say I will make an effort to go here anymore, which saddens me since I used to love it.

First time I have eaten here in years. Had a calling for fried fish. Yelp suggested this place and I remembered their fish and chips. Today they were excellent. Topped it off with a Moscow mule which was also a+. My only complaint is that they were not full service at lunch. Not a really big issue but I am handicap and need full service. Oh well. I will come back

small portions for sure. This is how it came out. I would get a larger portion at Wendy's for half the price if I knew it would be like this. Will try again but this is ridiculous

I came here for almost all the England world cup games. It was a great atmosphere, beer was good and the few times I got food, it was tasty and plentiful. Will come back in the future for sporting events.

I've been here for the last 3 fights and I'm watching the last one I will watch here. 15 bucks to watch on half the really poor quality TVs. Though that is just the tip of the iceberg. Got here 2 hours before the fight and they would not turn any of the TVs to the prelims out on the patio. We asked 3 times and the 3rd time they said they could not cause people wanted to watch the soccer game that wasn't even on yet, also we are the only people at the time watching on the patio. Next is there was no cover when we got here, walked in sat down been drinking and eating and they are coming around telling us we have to go buy 15 dollar tickets at the door. On top of that the food is not high quality but the most expensive on the square and the service just isn't really there. Also half the TVs are the fight and they are small TVs! Like super and low quality Just ripping regular people off cause they are the only people on the square that show the fights. Bad business.

Awesome food, corned beef and cabbage is out of this world amazing. Everything we've ordered has been fresh made from scratch. Our new favorite place!
