As a non-observant Jew my evaluation may be less positive than someone who chooses to limit themselves to Glatt kosher products. Having moved 200 miles north of NYC, I miss access to Jewish foods (I've always found kosher meat better than what I get from non-kosher butchers). Visiting friends nearby, I went to Seasons to get a holiday brisket to take home. $113 is a very high price to pay for a fresh first cut brisket that weighed under four pounds! I bought it anyway and hope it will live up to my expectations.
The store looks great, and I was tempted to try their prepared foods. I wish I hadn't. The chicken soup, at $10.99, I wouldn't have thought overpriced, but it was almost all broth; there was almost no chicken nor noodles in the soup, the broth was okay. My late grandmothers would have been ashamed to serve this. The lo mein, sweet and sour meatballs, and sesame chicken were all sub-par. My wife reports that the stuffed cabbage was okay. Whitefish salad was very good and not unreasonably priced.
It's unfortunate that observant Jews pay a high premium for prepared food which is often sub-standard. Not believing in a higher being, I will return to patronizing businesses that do not adhere to kashrut, at least when it comes to prepared foods.
