Came here today, in search of solace from the huge crowds at the Market today. This is my fourth visit to this restaurant. I particularly like the fresh seafood, cooking style and homemade sauces. As I walked down the gauntlet of tourists viewing for space at Beechers, the original Starbucks, Mee pastry and Piroshky Piroshky lines, it was a battle to reach the end of the Market perimeters. Seatown was moderately busy. Whew, once I arrived, the restaurant was welcoming. You order at the counter from friendly staff and are given a pager. You line the pager up with the table, so they can find you when your order is ready. At the counter, there are many offerings of Tom Douglas food items, cookbooks and rub with love marinade. I am a big fan of Tom Douglas, so I have purchased many of these items already. We used his steak rub with love just this Father's Day. The first time I was here, I ordered the Dungeness crab roll, smoked salmon dip and half steamed Dungeness crab. The Dungeness crab roll was full of sweet crab. It came with a delicious lemon mayo, which complimented the crab meat nicely. Not a big fan of fries. But loved the homemade ketchup on the side. The half steamed Dungeness crab was.a delight, with the drawn butter and fries. A real highlight of this visit with dear friends. I happened to use the restroom, which passes by the kitchen. I could see into the kitchen and I was impressed how clean and organized it was. Second meal was Dungeness crab cakes. Great crispy panko crunch on the cakes and the zest added to the flavor.Today's meal was chowder, seafood combo and coconut cream pie. The chowder was good, nice balance of clams, bacon and potatoes. I ate this first. The seafood combo consisted of 2 pieces of cod, 2 shrimp and calamari . All was slightly overcooked and dry. Loved the addition of fried yellow and red peppers with the calamari. This gave it a spicy note. The tartar sauce was unique and complimented the fish. It was a step up from the usual mayonnaise/pickle sauce. The coconut cream pie was delicious. I read an-autobiography from Tom Douglas, where he said the coconut cream pie saved him from bankruptcy. I did try to replicate his coconut pie recipe from his cookbook. A complicated recipe, I'm not sure I was able to master. In honor of this pie, I order it to recognize its importance in keeping Tom Douglas's restaurants in business. I believe the quality here surpasses any other food offerings at the Market.
