Sebastian Joe’s Is Opening a New Location in South Minneapolis’s Kingfield - Eater Twin Cities

"Super-popular Minneapolis ice cream shop Sebastian Joe’s is coming to the former Apoy space on Nicollet Avenue. The story comes from Southwest Voices, which, in February, published a handwritten letter to the editor from 21 Kingfield kids asking for an ice cream shop in their neighborhood." - Justine Jones

If you're getting a double scoop of ice cream you're at $10ish per person including a modest tip. Service is great and it's in a nice part of town, it's definitely not a bad place to go to for ice cream. Here's another modest tip, if you're not sold on coming to Sebastian Joe's, go to Pumphouse Creamery, which is slightly more affordable and their flavors are much more vibrant and original.

I recently went to the Kingfield location looking forward to ordering an ice cream sundae. It was late in the evening (9:30) but your website showed that the shop was open until 10. So my boyfriend and I hopped in my car and arrived at 9:40. I was happy to see that there were a lot of people like us out for ice cream late on a hot summer’s eve. But much to my dismay, when I gave the server my order he said that he couldn’t make the sundae because they had already put the hot fudge and caramel away. So I ended up ordering a double scoop instead, Then my boyfriend ordered a twist and much to his dismay he was told that they already washed the twister and so that order could not be filled either! So he ended up ordering a double scoop and settled for that. Then when we went to pay in cash, the server couldn’t open the cash drawer because it had already been locked, and he had to retrieve the key in the back room which took him at least 5 minutes to get. Why don’t they just advertise that if one comes in after 9:30 the options are limited as well as the options as to how to pay?! I sent Sebastian Joe's an email last week hoping to hear from them but since my email was ignored I'm writing this review. Great ice cream but lousy end of the night options!

So great having Sebastian Joe’s in the neighborhood. The ice cream is everything you’d hope for, and the coffee is great too. Whether you’re walking over with kids or grabbing a treat after dinner, it’s the kind of spot that just fits the neighborhood. Big fan.

I really was hoping for a better value. That amount you see in the cup is what $7.50 gets you for the scoop and swirl. It tasted good, but I won’t be visiting again. Also, there are two signs pointing to the side door for wheelchair access, but the door at the top is locked. I went inside to ask for help opening it from the other side, and the employees had no idea what I was talking about.

Ice cream is good. But, my 11 year old bought at $25 Sebastian Joes water bottle and couldn’t get the lid to open. They wouldn’t give her money back but offered to trade with a different color lid,. The mismatched lid opens randomly. She is sad to have wasted that money, but it’s a life lesson. Our family will stick with the ice cream and customer service at the Pump House.

Had a lovely time last night for an impromptu birthday party. The grapefruit sorbet was outstanding. It was lovely to see the place already packed with high schoolers dancing and hanging out. The staff was friendly and encouraged people to enjoy the music and dance-which the very young people in our crew really appreciated. Thanks for creating a welcoming spot for young folks to hang out in. The staff is always so kind here.

They dont serve Dolce Caldo here which seems to be a staple at the other Sebestian Joes locations.

Great to see one of the uptown iconic ice cream stops expand to Kingfield. Having lived above Tao foods after college in the early 2000’s it seems my living situation is basically just following Sebastian Joes as I am currently Located in Kingfield =) Super pumped to have this location within walking distance.

Yelp
Well, it was late at night so service was quick. The ice cream was good but we had better. Sorry to say.

Yelp
Headsup! We called Sebastian and Joes in Linden Hills seeking soft serve ice cream and they sent us to their Kingfield location. We walked into the Kingfield location at 9:43pm - they advertise that they're open until 10p - and we were informed they were no longer serving soft serve. So, please either continue to serve until close, or adjust your hours accordingly so folks don't make the trip only to be disappointed. Man did I want a cone!
