This place is incredible. I came out here around 3 in the afternoon and was able to have a few beers on the patio and hardly anyone here. I know they do live music on saturdays and I’m sure that is a hoot because the atmosphere is great inside here. They also have a a coffee bar if you don’t need beer or it’s a little early I also sat outside while I was here work on some business. The staff is super friendly and the prices are great. If your getting brews I was a big fan of the tangerine agave one it is delicious

Google
Currently open for take-out purchases only, as we’re under a region-wide stay-at-home order. Beertenders here are knowledgeable and consistently friendly and happy to make recommendations and share tasting notes. This brewery stands for more than just tasty beer, regularly participating in collaborations that benefit good causes. If you like craft beer shwag, their graphic design is top-notch! Go get a growler filled, a 4-pack of tall boys, and a hoodie or something.

Great brewery with cool merch, coffee stand and dog friendly. Anytime we can get our dogs back home a treat from a brewery we do. Open air, good beers and great environment.

Second chance is a super cute beer / coffee shop with ultra good vibes. My partner grabbed two beers and I tried two seltzers. There was plenty seating around and fun decor around. We’ll definitely be back for another flight soon!

Second Chance Brewing is amazing. Their beer is so so good (and other drinks like mocktails and cocktails were good too), the staff is so kind, and the space is fun! My partner and I hosted our wedding welcome party there and it couldn't have gone smoother! HIGHLY recommend stopping by for a beer or hosting an event there!

Yelp
Customer service was one of the best ever. The bartender took the time to talk with us. She was super sweet. Cute concept with both beer and coffee. Also, a dog friendly brewery.

Yelp
GIVING BEER A SECOND CHANCE First and foremost, I am NOT a beer drinker and I do not like beer. The only beer I had enjoyed was when I was freshly twenty-one (long ago) and the choice would be Blue Moon. Decades later, I am surrounded by beer lovers and beer breweries. And I never cared to try or drink beer... just not for me. UNTIL... a taste of beer that doesn't taste like beer!!! Giving beer a second chance at Second Chance. I was here one morning to get Parabola Coffee. Then an imaginary spotlight shined at the refrigerated canned beer casing at the beer lounge area to the right of me. Behold.... "FISTFUL OF GUMMIES" (limited release). I came back that afternoon when the beer lounge was open to purchase the can. I just had to try it for myself. And I did and am not disappointed! It literally tastes like a FIST-FULL-OF-GUMMY-BEARS. This is also my first time trying a "fruited sour" beer. I've heard about them but never thought I'd enjoy them because that just sounded weird. Well, I enjoyed this one. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Until the next review...

Yelp
Do you like IPA's? Do you like Lagers? Do you like saving puppies while abusing your Liver? Second Chance is your way of doing your part to support local California & Arizona animal shelters. You gotta get the New Day IPA or the Buddy Lager to save someone's life. See? No guilt drinking!! This is a great place to bring friends - the atmosphere is pretty chill so you can actual hear what people are saying. There's always a game on one of the TV's. Super friendly bartender- she was the one who told me about charity. This place is also super dog friendly- after all - you are drinking for puppies. They have a lot of treats for pups as well (pig ears, squeak toy beer cans). It keeps them occupied while you are drinking to save a puppies life. Just remember that.....in case you bump into Law Enforcement later.

Pete T.

Yelp
"Animal welfare is a big element of our company and something we are very passionate about. 1% of our sales from New Day and Buddy goes towards our dog rescue partners in San Diego and Arizona". -- From the Second Chance Beer Lounge website Second Chance Beer Lounge in North Park takes dog friendly to another level. That is reason enough for us to love this place, but we found more reasons. What a great place to just chill and enjoy an adult beverage. I very much enjoyed the Buddy Lager and the Gulls Blue Line Blonde Ale was delicious as well. Not to be left out, Becky loved the Strawberry Lemonade seltzer. Service was excellent. The whole vibe was great at Second Chance. We had a really good time there.

Tulsi M.

Yelp
Great ambiance and amazing beer! We tried the tabula rasa porter and the mulligan amber ale, both excellent beers at a great price. There was also live music when we came (sat evening), giving a nice relaxing speakeasy vibe.

Laylah G.

Yelp
I came here for a quick drink on a Saturday evening and it was really nice! Service was great and seating was plentiful. I loved my fistful of gummies sour. My husband tried the second beer listed under sours "Fluffy Tangerine" and did not care for it, but it appears it was a hazy ipa so that could've been it.

Mischa J.

Yelp
This is a very nice and comfortable little lounge to have some local craft beers and coffees. The location is also great, in a trendy neighborhood like North Park.

Jes W.

Yelp

Yelp
Student discounts for study groups on Tuesdays! Cool atmosphere with lots of seating, very dog friendly. I've really enjoyed the canned beers from this brewery in the past but the flight I tried this trip were more miss than hit for me, unfortunately. I hope it was just a bad batch! For reference, I tried mostly hazies, a lager, and a sour

Ryan S.

Yelp
Came in for a beer on a Saturday afternoon. The vide was very chill and beer selection was good. There is plenty of seating and the outdoor street side patio is awesome. They have rocking chairs, adirondack chairs, and a picnic table. It was so nice to sit in the San Diego afternoon and sip a delicious Amber.

Duck D.

Yelp
Nice place, love their beer. Seating is excellent, I like the outdoor venue. Minus one star for trivia which I absolutely hate and minus another star for needing a code to get in the bathrooms which is just obnoxious.

Ry S.

Yelp
Great beer and neat layout for a tasting room. This location is both dog and kid friendly. This is Second Chance's second location. Their main brewery is up in Carmel Mountain, and it opened in 2015. They've been very successful in San Diego, and the fact that they recently opened this tasting room in North Park is a testament to that. Tabula Rasa, their toasted porter, has won the GOLD metal for this type of beer in the Great American Beer Festival for the last two years (2017 and 2016). If they have any variants of this beer available (like Chai) I recommend starting there on the beer list. PROPS: Excellently brewed beer. SLOPS: No food options. Note that they're very open to you bringing or ordering in any food you'd like to enjoy here.

R P.

Yelp
Love this spot. Killer beer. Killer staff. Killer vibe. There's a coffee co. here too. I've never actually ordered it but it smells great! COVID shenanigans require food. No probelmo! They partnered with a Sicilian pizza spot across the street. And the pizza is...you guessed it...KILLER!

Desiree R.

Yelp
Who doesn't love another brewery walking distance to the rest? I came on a Saturday night while walking to a different one a block away and decided to give it a try. I really enjoyed the lighting and openness of the brewery. I got a tart that was on their "small batch" list and it was really good! The glasses are large and cool looking. It was clean and the bathrooms were nice and tidy. The Pink saioson(sp?) was delicious as well. I really enjoyed the feel and vibe of this place. Super chill and super cool people in there.

Shayan R.

Yelp
Second chance has a great selection of beer. They've got some good IPA's, and sours and pretty much anything else you're into. The staff members are always super helpful, and friendly and the atmosphere is great. Definitely check it out if you want some good brews.

Bianca R.

Yelp
Me and my fiancé I love this place who is the weather on date night and we love how relax it is and the beer selection is amazing. One of our favorites was displayed at dirty birds and that's how we found out about this place so happy we did. The service is always great!

Bayan G.

Yelp
Everyone is random but so close knit at this bar. It's hard to explain but it feels like home even if it's your first time visiting. The bar tenders are super down to earth and relax. Most of them are working there for fun so they're so present at work. Passion is the one word I would choose to describe the atmosphere at this place. Fave two beers: tabula rasa and tangerine

Cassandra S.

Yelp
So we have driven by walked by and never stopped in!!! Well thanks to Covid 19 we finally walked in, it's one of the few places open to fill a growler. Let me tell you their beer selection is stellar. None of these breweries with only IPA's! There is a great variety for all drinkers. This is hands down my go to spot now. If your into wheat beer, ipa, sours or something more full bodied like a porter, look no further. All of these are on their menu. Wish I hadn't waited so long to try!!!! Thank you !!!!!

Molly R.

Yelp
I came here on a Friday night for beer week because they advertised their barrel aged beers for Beer Week. Walking in, the place looked really awesome. I loved the wall art with the huge hop and the North Park water tower... it's nice for breweries to pay homage to their town. Looking up at the menu, I loved how simple and organized the beer list was. Each individual beer had a picture with statistics next to it... very easy to read. I didn't try any of the normal house beers. I went for a flight of the barrel aged beers. Each barrel aged beer was its own entity in that they each had a peculiar taste. The wine barrel aged beers were a miss for me. I feel like the acidity in the red wine does not bode well for beer. The rum barrel aged beer was a little bit better but lacked any carbonation and was pretty flat. The winner of the bunch was the gin barrel aged beer. It was fantastic in every way. Overall, I loved how clean and well decorated the bar was. The staff was overly friendly and made my beer drinking experience exceptional. I kinda didn't play it safe by getting a regular beer and ventured into their barrel aged beers. Although I didn't like 3/4 of the beers I had, I'd definitely give this place a SECOND CHANCE. 5 stars. I'll be back to try their Belgian and Amber ales!

Isabella G.

Yelp
This place was so cute! Great selection of beers. I loved the sour I had! Super reasonable prices too. The whole place was a great vibe with live music and a great 90s track. Not to overwhelming for a Friday night. The outside was surrounded with multiple fire places and it was so clean too. Dog friendly!

Yelp
Great small lounge in the heart of north park with solid beers. Their main Brewery is located up the 15 and this is a small extension and tasting room from that. The location is right in the heart of North Park and nearby all of the rest of the bars and restaurants in the area. They do not serve food but we could always bring in food from outside and eat there. The ambience is very laid back and relaxed. They have board games including chess in the lounge as well as a TV. They also have outdoor seating in a little patio. In terms of the beers, they have a small selection of a variety of different styles. Compared to some of the other breweries in the area, they do not have as extensive of a collection of options. My favorite type of beer is the IPA and there's is in the average range of the ones I've had here in San Diego. However, I really enjoy the ambience here to get a beer and relax, and I will definitely be by here frequently to relax, have a beer, and maybe play some board games or watch TV. Response to Jessie: I would have a wider selection of craft beers.

Meri D.

Yelp
I had no clue there was a Second Chance Beer Lounge is North Park how cool. I had only been to their main one in Carmel Mountain so this was neat to try. For beers I had the Raspberry Gose which had a good aroma with a light tart finish. I loved it! I am a fan of their other beers: Tabula Rasa and Mulligan. There is a decent amount of seating area inside and a small little patio out front. The service is pretty good and overall a nice venue for the intimate gathering when I came here for a retirement party as we all took over the whole place.

Rodney B.

Yelp
Great beer, nice staff and they are dog friendly . The mood and the atmosphere is great.

CT W.

Yelp
Beer is decent. It feels really great getting skipped because I'm trying to avoid dogs and my allergies. Meanwhile this company allows them to be on the couches and tables without reproach. Management should consider all people before allowing the selfish folk to ruin the experience.

Tori R.

Yelp
We love Second Chance! They are very dog friendly, have a relaxed environment with both inside and outside seating, and their beer is great. The staples like Tomorrow and Seize the IPA are a personal favorite but they also have speciality/limited brews as well. We'll definitely keep coming back!

Shawn P.

Yelp
My personal local favorite beer in North Park. Tucked away on 30th, ALL the draft pours are amazing and new drafts cycling in and out. Most flavorful IPAs you'll find. The gummy bear gose (seasonal) is great too if you can find it. The friendly across the street delivers too. Definitely a chill place to check out in NP.

Callie S.

Yelp
You MUST come here to try the Blueberry Earl Grey cocktail!!! Such a delicious drink and I love how they had good options for people whose first choice is not beer. We went on a Monday so it was not crowded at all.

Rob P.

Yelp
We needed another brewery in North Park? Really? I mean really? I was here the first week it opened. Had a pint, thought it was good. Liked the place. Haven't been back. Why? I really don't know. I was originally going to give this place 4 stars, but seeing as how I haven't gone back, I just can't justify the above average rating. So many other breweries in the area I prefer. I'll have to give Second Chance.... uh oh.... a second chance. I swear that was not intentional.

Jonathan R.

Yelp
Second Chance (SC) is a pretty awesome spot. Dog friendly, good brews, and a great staff are characteristics of SC. Their merchandise is hip and practical. The space is also great. They have patio and indoor seating that opens up the place for great socializing. Try a flight of beers to find your favorite. Second Chance is a beer-lover's delight. 4.1 Stars.

brianna l.

Yelp
The owners are adorable and so accommodating. I love coming there to work in the sunshine.

Holly S.

Yelp
Second Chance never disappoints, both with it's yummy beer selection and the outdoor seating in North Park. On a cold night they have gas fire pit, feels like you are at home but instead in the energy of the city. Fluffy Tangerine Clouds is a go to Hazy!

Erika F.

Yelp
Nice environment and good beers! Excited to try the Pink Saison that's coming up soon.

Chris J.

Yelp
Beer is great and just tried the new NP spot. SC has this location laid out right, as it states, a lounge. Kid, dog, large and small groups or date nights, SCBL is a great. BYOF. The location is nice because they have different areas. The outdoor area is roomy, the large table for gaming is a nice touch, interior tables provide great options and the couch/game area is warm and inviting. We will be back!

Jorezza C.

Yelp
I love the beer choices here! I first came here to support a friend who sold tahdig at this location, and got to sample a few beers. My favorite was the pineapple since I love pineapples. The guy behind the counter was very patient with me and my friend since it was our first time there. He gave a few recomendations like rhe coffee one they have and there was one called fluffy..i think..which I really enjoyed as well. The pricing wasn't too bad either. Good food and Beer is always a plus!

Karla R.

Yelp
Love the ambiance, all beers I tried I've really liked. If you are lookin for a nice chill spot to spend with your friends, this is the perfect place.

Daniel S.

Yelp
I was pretty close to being the first review but sat around too long. :) This is a nice environment and addition to 30th St. Yes, it's a tasting room but doesn't reek of hops and malt and it's a bit of a different build. Not quite the brewery starter kit. Only open a day or 2 and was fairly full. Beers are good and the staff is friendly. Hope neither of those change!

Jeremiah B.

Yelp
Just like the name says, I will give this place a second chance, And visit some other time. I went there to try out there beer selection as I've walked passed this place a couple of times and wanted to try it out. During my visit, it was quiet and had a nice vibe about it, but the customer service was just ok. Maybe the worker was tired, or having a bad evening, but they weren't very friendly. The beer was good, and had a very good selection. They were serving food, that smelled amazing. If I hadn't just ate I would have ordered food. Again, I will visit again!

Jibrhan P.

Yelp
Great place, great prices. Went here on our bar crawl with SocialCycle. I wish they had more porter/stouts choices. They allow dogs in and outside the bar. They even have adoption events. Awesome place

Jade D.

Yelp
Cute. I mean... everyone is doing the roll up garage doors these days so I can clock them for being basic. I'm happy to see the big screen TVs aren't dominant features, just tucked away in the corners. Beer was good. Great patio for people watching. Good service... well kinda. The one girl working behind the counter.. poor thing. She's all alone having to deal with the thrill-list assholes with their helmet camera, filming and shooting and demanding shit. I swear. I hope she got good tips that night. She wasn't nice per se, because she was up to her tits in bros and other beer snob assholery... curt and to the point. All business. No personality. But she was working it! So kudos to a strong work ethic. Other breweries could learn a thing or two from this waif of a woman. None of the merch spoke to me. So find a designer that can move your shirts off the rack like young hickory across the street or modern times down the road. I mean. I seldom give 4 stars. So that means this place was actually pretty good. I don't recall them having food. That would have been a nice touch.

Alyssa M.

Yelp
Awesome lounge I have never heard or seen - so this was a pleasant surprise on a self guided beer walk in North Park ! Great flavors, super staff, fun games to play while you hang out !

Jenna M.

Yelp
We had the pleasure of partnering with Second Chance Brewing for a fundraiser to support bringing clean water to villages in need. Our experience with the staff, the location, and the beer exceeded all of our expectations. Big thanks to Alex, Holden and Sarah for being rockstar staff! If you are considering hosting an event here, look no further Water4Life Global highly, highly recommends it!

Nicholas B.

Yelp
Second Chance has some really good beer, so I was excited when they got a North Park tasting room. Now, I grab a growler from here more often than I probably should. They have some medal winning beers that I can't get enough of. The golden ale and Seize the IPA are quickly becoming some of my favorites. I take 'em and run. As for a social spot, (relative to other places on this block of 30th) I find it to be a chiller, less rowdy alternative. That's not to say it doesn't get busy here. But it's overall a good place to bring friends as either a taking off or ending point for your night. You can actually talk with each other here. It's got some board games too - I recommend Joking Hazard while you enjoy your pint!

Cheryl G.

Yelp
Wide variety of beer and all of them good. They've got malty beers, fruity beers, hoppy beers, and a variety of alcohol contents. Small, intimate venue with couches and games, or regular tables, whichever you prefer. My favorite beer is Glorious, a nice Belgian that's crisper than most. Really nice on a warm San Diego afternoon.

MK W.

Yelp
I am an official beer nerd, and Second Chance has solid beer chops. They are consistent, and very experimental, which is what I consider a great brewing operation. This location also allows dogs, which is very important for me, and the employees are amazing, but I am not sure if they know my name, but they definitely know my dogs name. (to be honest, he really is the bigger draw) You can come here for drinks, and order from several local food places that will bring you food, so it is a double whammy, while allowing animal companionship.

Lena Y.

Yelp
Cool newer beer spot to check out in North Park! Relaxed industrial rustic decor. Order at the counter service with friendly and knowledgeable staff. Whenever I try a new beer place, I almost always get a flight to get a taste of a few of them. I had a flight of Seize the IPA, Saison, Coffee IPA and Coco Rasa. Worth stopping in and trying their beers!

Griffin T.

Yelp
-Good location on 30th beer corridor. Dog and kid friendly. -Spacious and modern interior, kind of reminded me of the Modern Times tasting room in Point Loma. -Similar to other breweries, they brew their beer elsewhere in SD county and opened up a tasting room in North Park. -The beer is average for a very saturated San Diego market. I've had some of their beers in cans before and have enjoyed them, so I was excited to try out their tasting room. A friend and I each had pints of their IPAs and compared, and I couldn't really taste a huge difference between the two. -I'd be happy to go back if I was meeting friends who wanted to go or if there was a cool event, but as of right now my first visit wasn't enough to pull me away from my regular go-to spots in North and South Park.

Bill V.

Yelp
The Second Chance Beer Lounge opened to some controversy. Now that I've been there, I can see why competitors are worried: It is an excellent place. Where else can you get two Great American Beer Festival winners in your flight, or take home a six pack of six entirely different and extremely good beers? It has a nice patio, the large garage-door type windows create lots of light and air, and the interior design is top notch: It is sophisticated and comfortable at the same time. With extended opening hours and such a good beer line up, this place has become a "must visit" addition to the North Park craft beer scene. It might now be my favorite craft beer venue in North Park, which is saying a lot. The GABF winner Tabular Rasa porter is offered in a coconut-chocolate version called Coco Rasa. Go try both of them right now!

Kashaka K.

Yelp
In the mood for a luminous blonde? Or am Irish style red? Second chance has an American colonial style completed with open brick walls, glass fire station doors and and indoor outdoor motif. It's offers a little something for everyone with a host of board games, the proud display of Ohio State flag and melodious reggae music. There is something admirable about this place that I can not quite put my finger on but it is in the perfect location for an afternoon beer. A must visit on your north park beer tour.
