How to Help New Orleans in the Wake of Hurricane Ida | Eater New Orleans
"Operating with other organizations to feed residents, Second Harvest Food Bank is distributing food and water and serving hot meals out of food trucks in the wake of Hurricane Ida." - Clair Lorell
How could there ever be a negative thing to say about programs that help feed the needy? Every year this local organization provides every family in need of holiday meals Turkeys and all the traditional sides. They also feed a lot of seniors. Thank you Second Harvest!

Very friendly people ( mostly ). A great plce for seniors to get supplements to their weekly food supply. Although some people visiting there do take advantage of the generosity of this food bank. That makes it very hard for the rest of us who adhere to the posted signs as to how much of each product we can take. There are a lot of people who come to this site every week so we have to wait in line In the cold. Some of us have a very hard time standing that long. But the volunteers and the worker's are very attentive so I shouldn't complain at all. It's a good thing that they are doing especially for seniors, disabled and those who don't work. I am very grateful for this food bank.

Great people here. It made the holidays so much better. I had to walk to get Mt ham and one of the volunteers gave me some hand warmers. That was so nice of her.

They've had some great food offerings but don't stock enough for the lomg lines. They cut their days of service back and if you're unlucky enough to have to go late in the day that they are open there's pretty much nothing left. Not helpful for people like me who worked until 3:30 and couldn't get there before 4pm.

My experience at second harvest was not pleasant today. Although most visit are very nice today the staff was very rude. Yelling at people to get out of the way stay out of stuff don't touch that and repeating the scolding holding up the line. I just wanted to walk out. Not explaining the situation. Is this the way to treat people that need help. Very rude very disheartening. I think today's staff really need a counciling session on respect. Why make the people feel worse than they already do.

My experience at second harvest was a lot more pleasant then before. The new staff there was a more friendly and actually seem to want to help a person our. The volunteers seem also to be more relaxed and happier.

This is one of the best organizations around! Friendly, caring folks. They help out way more than people know. Lot of behind the scene work in this. Be thankful for what you get. Nobody knows the hard work put into this, until they do it! Great job!

What a wonderful gem we have. Helping so many people in need. Today was my first day for volunteering. We stuffed bags for backpack buddies. Very rewarding experience!!
