Second Home | Best places to stay in Lima

"Bristling with boutique restaurants, swish bars and galleries, Barranco is one of Lima’s most fashionable suburbs. And no hotel more perfectly captures the spirit of the neighbourhood than this former home of renowned Peruvian sculptor Victor Delfín. The building and its shady gardens are filled with his creations and with his collection of modern art. Bronze bulls sit next to leafy flowerbeds, a team of neo-Etruscan horses hovers at the edge of the cliff, the blue Pacific as a backdrop. Book one of the six west-facing rooms for sunset-over-the-ocean views. " - Alex Robinson

This is the most unique and wonderful boutique hotel! All the staff were very friendly, comfortable bed, and great view of the ocean from our room. Breakfast was delicious. Everywhere you look is the beautiful artwork of Victor Delfin and we were so very fortunate to get the chance to meet him and view his studio! Just book it, you won't regret staying at this unforgettable place!

The place is a gem! Located at the end of a quiet residential street with many cafes and restaurants to choose from. It has a nice garden overlooking the ocean, and it's full of art. It takes 45 minutes to walk (or 60 minutes of you choose to walk on the cliffs along the ocean) to Miraflores if you're looking for shopping and tourist attractions. The staff is very helpful and welcoming. Stay here if you're looking for a unique experience and not a standard room in a crowded area!

The location was great for visiting the Barranco area but relatively far from other main attractions of Lima. The hotel has a great ambiance with lots of art pieces throughout the gardens and the rooms. Very nice ocean views and lots of spaces to relax and hang out (weather permitting) throughout the property. Breakfast was good too! The setting and the service definitely had a "home" vibe to it!

Absolutely ideal place to stay in Lima. Perfect views, great breakfast, tidy and spacious rooms, unbelievably good location, very nice staff, and it was a truly unique experience to stay in a place with so much artwork and history. It was like waking up in an art museum. I can't recommend this place enough.

We are so glad we chose this unique place to stay! Perched on the cliff overlooking the bay, the property features local sculpture throughout the open and welcoming space. Staff was very helpful on arrival and during our stay. Would definitely recommend.

Second Home Peru is a quiet home away from home at the end of a colorful cafe-lined dead-end street. My travel companion and I stayed in the home April 8-12, 2025. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Immediately upon our 6:30 am arrival, we received a warm welcome and felt comfortable. The home boasts beautiful cliffside ocean and garden views through several large windows, has comfortable furnishings, and serves hearty morning breakfasts consisting of flavorful eggs and bacon, Peruvian fruit (granadilla), fresh warm bread, strong coffee or tea, and juice. Doors are always propped open allowing for fresh ocean air and natural light to bathe the environment. The on-premise bar facilitated a perfect end-of-day ritual of Pisco Sours with fellow travelers on the back patio/lawn/deck while watching the sunset over the Pacific. Room was 5 was very spacious with 2 queen beds, large bathroom, comfortable beds, and clean! No view to speak of however, many windows to open for fresh ocean air and natural light. The location of Second Home is perfect for walking the Barranco District. Several fantastic and popular restaurants, coffee shops, and bakeries are within a block or two of the home. When needed, the staff arranged for taxi service. We pre-arranged and pre-paid for airport pick-up through Second Home. Finding Carlos at the airport was easy- making for a stress-free arrival. We took the small-fee tour of Victor Delfin's on-site studio and had the privilege of meeting him He is 97 years old and still creating. His works represent his country's state of being (social, economic, cultural, political, etc..) throughout his 70+ years of creating. He is a national figure. Take the tour and enjoy his pieces that are showcased throughout the B & B. My travel companion and I are solo female travelers who are 55 and 69 years old. We felt very safe and took the usual travel precautions. We did not experience any safety issues walking around the District. The locals were very friendly and kind. There were hugs all around when it was time for us to depart and relocate to Cusco. It felt like we were leaving family. If I ever return to Peru, I will always come back to Second Home!

This is such a unique property with fantastic views of the Pacific. The art in the rooms and common spaces is such a treat. The rooms are spacious, staff was very helpful and the breakfast service was great. The property is tucked away on a nice quiet side street close to everything in Barranco. Highly recommend Second Home!
