Second Love Coffee - Review - Des Moines - Seattle - The Infatuation

"A new patio overlooking the water is already exciting, but throw in caffeine and pastries from Little Jaye, and we’re fully on board. Second Love Coffee, once a farmers market booth and pop-up, now has a permanent home in Des Moines. They roast their own beans and serve drinks like a black sesame vanilla latte, coffee tonic, and americano. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Kayla Sager-Riley

I stumbled upon this café and instantly fell in love with its warm, welcoming vibe. The coffee is rich and flavorful, the location is super easy to find, and the space inside feels open and airy. My favorite part? Sitting outside with a cup of coffee while enjoying the beautiful view. And with such reasonable prices, I’ll definitely be coming back!

Second Love Coffee is a true gem and such a welcomed addition to the neighborhood. My spouse and I tried two of their specialty drinks (Black Sesame Vanilla Latte and Pistachio Pomegranate Latte) which were both creative and perfectly balanced in flavor (read- not a sugar bomb and flavors compliment the coffee). We also tried some pastries from Lady Jaye bakery, and they were equally incredible—fresh, unique, and the perfect pairing with their drinks. We can’t wait to try everything else on their menu soon! The space is beautiful— thoughtfully designed and cozy, with a warm community vibe and even views of the Puget Sound. It’s the kind of place that instantly feels like a local favorite. Love that it is housed in a building with lots of historical significance in Des Moines as well. When I saw that there was a coffee shop opening up in the neighborhood, I was very excited and did some research on Second Love online in anticipation of their opening. I saw that a portion of their profits are donated toward supporting good causes and that they’ve made commitments to reducing their carbon footprint/eventually becoming carbon neutral and even negative. That kind of purpose-driven approach is so important—and it’s something I can wholeheartedly get behind as a patron.

With a clear focus on transparency, the owners have built a business model that prioritizes exceptional products and services while firmly anchoring themselves in the heart of the Des Moines community. Des Moines has long been missing a hub where people can build relationships while enjoying the best of local offerings. Supporting a local business matters, but what makes it sustainable is when it consistently provides something remarkable, accessible, and dependable. While the owners continue to grow in their craft as baristas, they bring far more to the table than technical skill alone…their strength lies in creating unique offerings, building authentic relationships and creating opportunities for other small businesses to thrive.

Second Love Is my new favorite coffee shop in Des Moines!! The atmosphere is very welcoming and the coffee is of very high quality. I also love that a portion of their profits go back to the community. Best coffee place in Des Moines!

After ordering coffee beans from Second Love at the Des Moines farmers market the last couple of summers, my wife and I were thrilled to hear about their vision to open a cafe. The coffee is delicious. I usually get the cortado, but I’ve tried a cappuccino, latte, drip, and signature bevi and they’ve all been pretty tasty. The owners, Philip and Scott are friendly, inviting, and seeking to care for the community. Highly recommend

I went to this lovely coffee shop with my parents and we all had chai tea lattes, my Dad's and mine with oat milk and my Mom's with whole milk. The were absolutely delicious! But what made the trip really wonderful was Scott. He was so friendly and knows so much about coffee, especially the local coffee roasters. The feel of the shop is relaxing and there's outdoor space as well. The fresh flowers on the tables were a beautiful addition (I love dahlias) and my Dad picked up his new favorite coffee mug, which was made by a local artist. Give this place a go. You'll be happy you supported such a great business.

Stopped in and bought my first bag of beans yesterday. The owners are very friendly, knowledgeable and very passionate about their products. Brewed my first cup this morning and am loving it! So excited to try all their varieties. Very happy to have them in Des Moines. They are currently working on putting together a cozy patio in back, too.

Local coffee shop in Des Moines WA or south of Seattle that makes delicious drinks. In the picture I had their Mexican coke espresso which was delicious. They’re open at the times they advertise, they have free WiFi and ample space. Lots of chairs and tables inside and outside. The parking is easy to access. They do sell pastries but no actual breakfast items. Lattes or coffee is under $10.
