Great pre-dinner date spot! My husband did the martini cart experience and it was a nice touch. Great staff and lovely space. We came here at 6:15 so it wasn’t full yet, but by 7:30 it was filling out. They also have mocktails here!

Every time my friends and I visit Second Story, we’re always greeted with warmth and positivity—especially from Dakota. He’s an outstanding bartender who consistently welcomes us with a big smile, making us feel genuinely valued. His drinks are fantastic, and his attention to detail never goes unnoticed. Cassidy is also wonderful—her upbeat attitude and friendly demeanor add so much to the experience. It’s always a pleasure seeing both of them when we stop by for a drink. Great upscale vibe. I was early for a drink with a friend and decided to wait at the bar. Ended up in a delightful conversation with the impossibly charming and über skilled bartender, Dakota. He made a gorgeous and delicious concoction called the Queen B for me while we chatted and he continued prepping for the evening. I enjoyed watching the manager and staff arrive and greet each other. Their smiles, laughter and embraces created a warm atmosphere. Everyone and everything is styled and presented with elegant ease and exquisite detail. I'll be back!

The people and the martinis are the best!!! Chose a signature drink or ask Cassidy, Moose or Dakota to create you something special and be prepared for a perfect night!

I came here with my mom when they first opened and we had the best experience! The hosts were friendly and welcoming and the staff all were full of smiles and great service. We enjoyed the martini cart experience as well as some of the mocktails. The ambience and vibe of the place is unlike any other bar in the bay and we’re lucky to have such creative and dedicated people operating this establishment! Thank you and I’ll definitely be back!

This is a great place for good vibes, fun music, and yummy drinks!! Starting off with the security, after checking ID’s he welcomes you by stating your name. Small detail but makes and impact. David at the DJ booth makes the ambience fun and moody. The hostesses were extremely nice and welcoming- would come back just for their customer service. And of course, Benjamin at the bar? He makes the best Paloma I’ve had in my life. He says he makes them better than the ones you’ve had in Mexico and he did not lie!! So yummy! Thanks for having us, Second Story!!

Hey, I want to start with the atmosphere, you won't find the place where the music, people, vibe, drinks, service match so great. Bartenders will always make a drink that pertains to your taste, tell them what you like and they'll make it for you. Damn, they know how to make Jungle Bird!! No bars and clubs I visited in the SF freaking bay area knows what it is, they do. My boy Moose, is a high-end bartender, he knows what to do, how to do it, he is prepping his own recipe of milk punch just to surprise everyone on a Saturday night. Ask him for whatever drink you like, he'll make it, so will others. This place became my go-to from the first time I visited it. Going there at least 2-3 times a week. Best cocktails! Best Bartenders. Best Atmosphere. I'm European, it's the only place including SF that gives me European lounge club vibes, and what can compare with it?! Loving this place in and out. You wanna take your date here, do; you want to chill with your friends, that's the spot! You want to meet cool people talk and chill, yes; you want to meet a girl, guy and have a casual convo and who knows what after, you're in the right place! Come, enjoy, drink, dance, and yeah you can dance!! DJ is Awesome! Visit it once and you'll be craving to visit it more. This is my second time coming. Super vibing. Low key crowd. Great DJ music. Upscale and amazing decor. Moody lounge. Reserve your table in advance. Otherwise standing room only near the 2 bars. We have always found somewhere to linger. This past Saturday music was so good we started dancing. Cocktails are super good. I ordered nonsweet espresso martini. They included roasted marshmallow. Much tastier than some coffee beans. And it had a great kick. Husband ordered ranch water and we had a few tequila shots. It was a fun date night.

Second Story is a whole VIBE! The decor is on point (very IG friendly) and the live DJ was playing those R&B hits we all loved in the 90's. When you walk in, you don't feel like you're in Los Gatos/ South Bay anymore. We did the full martini experience + other cocktails. Very refreshing. The highlight was definitely the ambiance- very posh. Great spot for a first date because the music is not super loud, so you can actually hear... PRO TIP: You can park in the lot on the other side of the street AND look for the black "SS" carpet to go upstairs to the bar (lack of signage up front).

Second Story is already off to a strong start. The caviar and martini service are standout touches that elevate the overall experience, and their beer selection is surprisingly solid--something for everyone. The staff is super friendly, and the layout is well thought out with multiple bar areas, including a convenient to-go bar for quick beer or pre-made cocktail pickups. There's plenty of seating, whether you're settling in for a night or just passing through. My only real wish is for a more expansive food menu, but I've heard there may be future collaborations with the restaurant going in next door--which is an exciting prospect. Definitely worth checking out now, with even more to look forward to.

We've always received nothing but friendly service from everyone working at this place. Yes, the music can get quite loud once the DJ starts spinning at 9 p.m. So come early if you want to chat and stick around to vibe to some 90s/2000s Hip Hop and R&B. The only gripe I have is with the consistency and price of the cocktails. The first time we came, Cassidy made our drinks, which were phenomenal. During our last visit, I got the same spicy cocktail, and it was super bland and tasted quite watered down. Also, compared to Soda Works, their cocktails are also more basic and less creative, yet the pricing is similar. So you're paying for the vibes. It's a fun place. If they can step up their cocktail game, I could see myself becoming a regular.

Fancy cocktail bar. Love the indoor design, intimate and romantic. They have a DJ on site for music, but I wasn't a dance of the music selection. Also I thought the music could be a little quieter for conversatio We came on a Thursday night and got seated right away. The service was fast and friendly. We ordered the La Bamba, Gimme the Loot, Diamond Life. I do like sweet and refreshing taste, so I loved the La Bamba and Diamond Life. They have a lot of cocktails that look good, I do see myself going back for different drinks

This place serves a good martini! My sister has a dirty martini and I had a Manhattan. They were both delicious. They have a cart they bring around to make your martini in front of you (for this it has to be a classic martini). The ambiance is upscale, cocktail attire and fancy bar and sitting area. Service was impeccable. They don't serve food although I think they had some nuts. It wasn't super busy at 6 pm on a Friday which is great for us. They are sticklers on the dress code. We only had one drink before going over to dinner. If u want a great martini/drink you should stop here.

Was eager to try this place bc it's been all over my instagram but idk if it's for me. It's decorated more upscale and intimate vibes. There's a dj playing loud music so not a place to catch up with friends but also not a place to dance either. Drinks are overpriced and mediocre in my opinion. Wouldn't be my first choice for a night out. If you are planning a visit I would make a reservation. There's some standing room around the bar but very limited table space. We were lucky to snag a table for 5 around 10pm on a Saturday.

I used to frequent Charley's and really miss it. I was excited that there is a new cocktail lounge that had taken its place and wanted to LOVE it. Unfortunately, it was a meh experience. It was packed on a Friday night as expected. Ambience was cool and you could see the remnants from Charley's which brought back memories. The staff from the hostess to the bartender to the other staff seemed overwhelmed and curt. The worst part was the super LOUD music. Loud music makes sense for a dance club but why would you have such loud music at a cocktail lounge where the expectation is that you have a nice ambiance where you can enjoy a drink with company and have a great conversation. Conversation as in can hear each other and don't have to yell. I lost my voice trying to keep a conversation going and the 4 of us ended up leaving 20 minutes in. Bummed because this is so close and was hoping to make it our go-to spot.

I came here with some girlfriends for a little G. N. O. It was exactly the vibe we were looking for. Classy, chic, and high end. We ordered delicious drinks (absolutely loved the kombucha mocktail) and caviar nachos, which were to die for. The DJ was playing the best rnb throwbacks after 9 and it was the perfect mix of upbeat and mellow. The place was busy but not overcrowded, and very light hearted and easy to socialize with those around us. Our server was super attentive as well. One of the owners Sammer check in on us as well. Overall, loved this spot and would highly recommend! Recommend you either arrive early to grab a table or reserve ahead of time to make sure you have a place to sit!!

This was my first time here since it has opened. We had a great first experience. It is a high end lounge bar that has beautiful design and decor with the perfect ambiance and lighting. There was a DJ that was playing good music that allowed for a social vibe. The drinks were really strong which is a great plus. I would say a reservation is needed especially if you want a nice seating area. All the staff were incredibly nice and attentive to everyone around them. Definitely dress up when going here and it can make a cute vibe for a fancy night out on the town!

The cocktails we had were tasty. The decor was fancy. The music and noise level inside was WAY too loud. This is more like a bar than a cocktail lounge. They blast the music so you can't talk. I do not like that they allow people to stand at the bar because it makes it feel more like a bar than a fancy cocktail lounge. I was really looking forward to trying this place with my wife on our 10 year wedding anniversary but we couldn't even hear ourselves think.

Gabby and Moose were the best! They were so attentive and asked all the right questions to get us the exact cocktail we wanted. Definitely a fun experience. Gabby's specialty drinks in the menu were delicious! Really creative. I can't wait to come back and do the martini cart

Was not expecting to find a spot like this in Los Gatos. Second Story has a welcoming, modern, and chill aura that completely caught me off guard--in the best way possible. It's upscale in aesthetic while remaining relatable to varied crowds. They have a lot of nice portraits of music icons as soon as you walk in which was nice (Shout out to whoever chose the Sade pic) The bar staff was top tier. Moose and Dakota were the best; friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about the craft. The whole team helped set a tone that felt inclusive and easygoing, like you could go solo or roll in with friends and still feel right at home. The drink menu was approachable price-wise, especially for a place with such an impressive liquor selection. And the music? Also top tier. Curated in a way that added to the energy without overpowering the vibe. I'd love to see them host a daytime function, as it would be the perfect venue for something like that . Adding a dedicated outdoor space would be the finishing touch. Second Story is a fresh breath of air in the South Bay nightlife scene. Highly recommend.

If you're not ready to step into your villain era with a martini in one hand and caviar on the other--don't bother. This place? It's giving main character energy. Came here on a Saturday while in town for a quick trip, and it instantly became the highlight of the weekend. Low lighting, strong drinks, and just the right amount of attitude. The whole spot oozes cool without trying too hard. Sophie behind the bar? Iconic. Friendly, sharp, and pours like she knows your secrets. She made the place feel like our own private speakeasy. Also, let's talk about the caviar bump on the hand. Decadent. Dramatic. Delicious. I came for a cocktail and ended up living out a Bond villain fantasy. No regrets. Drinks were dangerously good, glassware was straight-up art, and every detail was dialed in. If you're looking to sip pretty and serve looks--this is your spot.

Drinks were good. Decor was cool. Atmosphere was awful. They advertise a dress code they don't enforce. They pack the bar with as many people as they can without violating codes (or maybe they do, I wasn't counting). It's loud, overpacked and just not worth it. The drinks are expensive but good, but definitely not a place if you want to catch up with friends.

Beautiful destination - classy and fun. There is an excellent selection of alcohol and a fantastic menu of cocktails imagined by Perry and Saul who you might recall from OCK. Came in on a Friday night around 10:45 pm and the place was PACKED (way too packed for what's marketed as a a high-end cocktail lounge but fine for just a regular bar). That could be a good thing if that's what you're looking for, but it also meant that there was nowhere to sit (they only take reservations for a party of 6 or more) and drinks took forever to get at the bar. We waited at the left wall bar (there's two, the main one is the longer one) per recommendation of a bouncer, and they only served regular cocktails and spirits there, not speciality or craft ones like the espresso martinis. Luckily, we were able to divide and conquer and one of us was able to swoop up a table while the other was waiting again at the main bar. Once seated, a server will come by to take your drink orders, which in my opinion is the better option than waiting at the bar, if you can manage to find seating. If not, it's very crowded at the bar and everyone else with a drink just stands there instead of moving so they block everyone else and it makes the drink ordering processes even longer. The drinks were great though, no complaints there. There's also no snacks/apps other than caviar, so make sure to get your apps and dinner beforehand. The aesthetic of the bar was nice, and from what I remember the music was good; it was just hard to hear sometimes over the noise of everyone in there. As far as patrons, it's an older crowd (40s+) with some 20s-30s sprinkled in. Because I'm a reservation girly, it was a little too hectic for me to go back and try again; though if they accept reservations like at Wild Rose, I'd give it another shot.

Worst service we've had in the Bay Area possibly ever...went a few months ago and was impressed with the drinks (so yummy!) so went again last night Wait staff is more interested in socializing with each other than checking in with patients Had to TRACK DOWN someone to get a second drink and the check. Ruined our night. Wont be back unfortunately

The listing for Monte Serrano is incorrect as it is in Los Gatos. What used to be Mojntain Charlie's is now a higher end craft cocktail bar. The space was dead for a good long while so glad to see the revival of another choice of drinking that is open past 11pm had a good scotch/amaro drink at the bar with some of the friendly bartenders. Find Ben and he will take care of you! It maybe a bit loud for sone people as it has the music and space but if you're at the bar it's a nice vibe

I went around 7-8pm, and the vibe was perfect not too crowded yet, but you could feel the energy picking up. Definitely want to come back with my dancing shoes on next time. My first visit to second story and Ash made me feel like I have been coming here for years. He is an amazing bartender, mixologist, and friendly person who makes you feel right at home every time you come to the bar. He is one of the many reasons I keep coming back to the bar every single time I.

Excellent first visit to Second Story. DJ/Music was excellent. Our waitresses were perfectly on par. Drinks were stiff and taste amazing. Now, if only there was a dance floor! We need a place to groove to 90's and 00's hip hop!

I've come here 4 times now and loved it more with each visit! The first time I came I was pregnant and was so pleasantly surprised by their mocktail selection! I thought for sure I would be stuck drinking seltzer water all night. The one with charcoal in it was AMAZING. The next time I visited, I was no longer pregnant and took FULL advantage of their amazing cocktails. The California Love was perfection! The staff were so warm and nice and I loved the moody ambiance. Finally a place in Los Gatos to be excited about!

Second story is exactly what Los Gatos needed. An upscale and chic place to grab craft cocktails with friends or on a date night. The music is always on point and enhances the vibes. You'll likely be signing a song you love that you haven't heard in a while, or is that just me. It's a good excuse to dress up and have a good time. Can't wait to go back!

My gf used to go here when it was Mountain Charlie's, and she was eager to see what it is now. At our age and sophistication level, we both loved what this space has turned into. It's classy and refined, romantic with a sophisticated atmosphere. As it gets later in the evening, the DJ stars spinning and it gets louder and more of a party place. We've gone there twice now, with and without reservations and both times were amazing! We will be back!

We went by their for after dinner cocktails for my bday and I like the vibe, is pretty chill and classy! We just had cocktails not food, but I want to go back for a date night! The service was phenomenal, everyone very attentive and we didn't waited for a drinks at all! Great music as well!

Not what I expected at all. Don't let the website photos or IG postings fool you. This place is REALLY nice at first glance.....that first glance being professional photos posted online. Once you step foot into this gorgeous remodel, it's pretty much like a club, but the weird thing is it doesn't have a dance floor, at least I don't think it did...saw plenty attempting to dance and it was so awkward. The vibe is cool if you're 21-35, and like the clubbing atmosphere; this is not an elevated cocktail lounge as described in most media outlets. At barely 48 I felt like a cougar. Eeks! I have to say, the dress code is the best: We kindly invite our guests to embrace a cocktail-chic, refined, and effortlessly stylish look when visiting Second Story. The bouncers must not have been paying attention. Let's just say I wasted an outfit, a really good one. Can't comment on the drinks as I just had a glass of house bubbly. The only truth to this place, is that it IS on the second story. Check it out, just don't have high expectations and you will be ok. Note: need to have at least six people to make a reservation on OpenTable.

Had a great experience at this cozy craft cocktail bar in Los Gatos! The vibe was laid-back but elevated, perfect for a night out without feeling too formal. I went to the second story of second story ( hahah Pun intended) bar and was served by Ash, one of their newer bartenders as he mentioned. He was awesome. Super friendly, attentive, and clearly knows his stuff. He made me a custom cocktail based on what I liked and totally nailed it (something with Hennessy I can't remember) Excited to come back and see how he grows behind the bar. Definitely worth a visit if you're into well-made drinks and good service. Will be back.

This is a beautiful place with beautiful ambiance and great drinks. Unfortunately there is no hospitality training of the management. The staff is not smiling and are very snobby looking. They are all dressed nicely and are attractive but the vibe they gave was cold. Not coming here again. Hospitality plays a great role in running a business like this and i will stick with upscale Madera or Teleferic Barcelona where hospitality and friendliness is 5 stars

Updating my review to acknowledge the owners' kindness in reaching out with thoughtful solutions. I truly appreciate the dialogue and their willingness to improve the experience for future guests. As I mentioned, the current reservation policy--requiring reservations only for parties of six or more--feels a bit counterintuitive. They've assured me that changes are on the horizon to make reservations more accessible for smaller groups, which is a fantastic step forward. Once those updates are in place, I'll be more than happy to update my review to five stars--or remove it altogether. Looking forward to seeing the improvements! -- We traveled from out of town, eager to check this place out. Arriving early at 7 PM, we hoped to grab a seat. Upstairs, we found an almost empty space with plenty of available seating. The hostess asked if we had a reservation. We explained that we couldn't make one online, to which she responded, "That's because we don't take reservations for parties under six." So, you require reservations--but only for large groups? Make that make sense. Since when do bars turn people away at 7 PM? Frankly, this place is a joke. We won't be back, and we made sure to warn others heading upstairs about the treatment we received. Oh, and your hostesses tonight? Beyond rude. This establishment should be embarrassed.

They are a night club but not a 6:15 on a Thursday night- we have been there twice with the same experience- the bar is empty - once we had a rez and once we didn't- both times we have to spend this awkward time with the "hostess"/manager and it feels like we will try and get you in- but the place is empty- it's an unnecessary step that feels like they don't know who they are yet - how about - welcome. We are glad to see you come on in! Once you get in the interior is very old school and beautiful- the martini cocktail presentation is a can't miss! I had the James Bond Vesper and it was over the top and worth the $30- the other annoying part was at 6:15 we came in dressed nice for a date night on our way for dinner and they made us give them our credit card before we could order a drink - it cheapened the whole experience- yes I could see that once the club scene got going at 9pm ect but not at 6:15 on a Thursday- anyway give them a try- the Martini is worth it!

I'm writing this five stars instead of three or four, because I believe they will figure out the service time issue from the bar. They were so busy on their opening weekend that a lot of folks were waiting extended times for their drink. But I feel like that's a good problem to have and they will figure it out in no time! If you don't like a loud setting, you want to be out by about 930 or 10 PM. I arrived at 7:30 shortly after it opened and it had a peaceful, fun ambience, a great DJ, and it was pretty chill. After about 9:30 PM, it gets somewhat packed and with everybody together is loud. lol! I'm not an old person complaining about noise, it's just that initially it gives off kind of a chill lounge vibe, but it definitely turns into a bit of a nightclub, but with no dancing, around 10 PM. My bartender, Benjamin, made an excellent gin martini, the first one I had ever tried and I will definitely be having it again. He was a very good bartender serving up lots of nice looking drink drinks, they have a good drink menu! zero stars to the many gentleman that showed up throughout the night in something they'd wear to the home depot, maybe two out of 20 men were dressed up in something nice! Guys what are you thinking! Most were in sweaters, or sort of shabby polo shirts, things like that. In fact, somebody posted a photo on their Instagram recently, and a man was sitting at the bar in his hoodie. I was excited to go for the ambience, the dark lighting, the nice drinks, and also I was really hoping to see nicely dressed men, for once!! but ladies and gays be warned, there may not be many. (to any gentleman who are reading this, put on at least a button up long sleeved collared shirt, ironed. It goes a long way! It was very disappointing, most of the women were dressed so nicely, but that's not the bars fault). they should institute a dress code. Lots of parking around. Will be back!

An upscale cocktail lounge in LG, finally! Second Story is the perfect stop for a pre or after dinner cocktail, two, or three. Its dimly lit, vintage vibe and plush seating make for a cozy, sultry vibe. AND the drinks are thoughtfully crafted and elevated.... the espresso martini is a must try! It's the ideal spot for a date night or girls night out!

This is one of my new favorite cocktail spots located in downtown Los Gatos! The interior and vibe is amazing, and the cocktails + service are 10/10. Whenever I go there, Jaden always makes sure to greet me Immedietly and is also quick with getting our orders in & delivered to us. The espresso martini is my favorite! If you haven't been this is your sign to go!

I feel like this place is one of those situations where they try to please everyone and miss the mark as a result. The place is very nice. Great decor but then they play music that doesn't match the vibe/theme. They have martini service where the server brings a cart out to make the martini in front of you and tell you about it. The problem is that the music is so loud you cant hear anything that is said and it just becomes awkward. They have chairs and tables in the middle of the room yet play a type of music at a volume that you would expect people to dance rather than sit and have nice drinks. The drinks were fine but I expected from a place that primarily serves higher end drinks. I could sit and drink there if they played appropriate music at a better volume or I could go drink and hang out with people dancing if they removed the tables and changed the atmosphere but not both.

This was my first time here with my friends, and hands down, this is the best bar I've been to in the Bay Area! The entire staff was incredible, but I wanna give a special shoutout to Kassidy, Dakota, Andreas, as well as the other bartender that had a shaved head (really wish I got his name)--they were all amazing. Each of them made me a drink, and every single one was crafted beautifully and was consistently delicious. Beyond the drinks, they were friendly, personable, and truly made the experience unforgettable. Their energy and hospitality made my friends and I not want to go anywhere else--this is officially my new go-to spot!

This is a great place for good vibes, fun music, and yummy drinks!! Starting off with the security, after checking ID's he welcomes you by stating your name. Small detail but makes and impact. David at the DJ booth makes the ambience fun and moody. The hostesses were extremely nice and welcoming- would come back just for their customer service. And of course, Benjamin at the bar? He makes the best Paloma I've had in my life. He says he makes them better than the ones you've had in Mexico and he did not lie!! So yummy! Thanks for having us, Second Story!!

Love the espresso martini...nice lounge spot with good r&b music. You'll have a better experience if you can snag a table to sit on.

If you haven't had the pleasure of being served by Sophiee at Second Story, you're seriously missing out. This woman is an absolute wizard behind the bar. She's not just a bartender - she's a mixologist, a therapist, and the life of the party all rolled into one. Thanks Sophiee for making our night once again.

So happy to have a spot in LG that blends upscale cocktail lounge with vibrant nightlife. It's elegant without feeling stuffy and the cocktails are amazing! Service is 10/10. Get there before 9PM for the Martini cart experience, stay for the DJ!
