Secrets Akumal truly exceeded all expectations, but what made this stay exceptional was the entertainment team. They are the heart of the resort and kept every day fun, energetic, and engaging. A huge special mention to Alan, who took the fitness classes to a whole new level. His energy, motivation, and positivity made every session something to look forward to. Whether it was morning stretch, water aerobics, beach volleyball, pool volleyball, crazy games, dance lessons, even bingo, or the many other activities, there was always something happening and it never felt repetitive or forced — just genuinely fun. Also a big thank you to Liz, Brandon, Max, and Andres- each of them brought their own personality, enthusiasm, and professionalism, making the activities inclusive and enjoyable for everyone. Thanks to this team, I stayed active, laughed constantly, and was never bored for a moment. The breakfast is outstanding, easily some of the best quality food I’ve had anywhere in the world. The variety, freshness, and presentation were incredible and set the tone for the day. The poolside service is impeccable. You never have an empty glass- staff are attentive, friendly, and always happy to help, making it effortless to relax and enjoy the day. From start to finish, Secrets Akumal delivers luxury, fun, and exceptional service. I can’t recommend this resort highly enough and will absolutely be returning.

Literally still in amazement. This resort has it all. Bring your own snorkel mask and see all the fish and maybe even a turtle just off the beach. Take a kayak tour or go visit Tulum or Chichen Itza if history is your thing! We rented a car to travel around and felt safe all over the place. Ricardo was our concierge and he was awesome! Such a great human being that truly enjoys his job. The entire staff was helpful and kind the entire time we were here!

I highly recommend Secrets Akumal if you are looking for an all-inclusive 5-star resort. Service: The service was excellent. Everyone I encountered who worked here was very polite. I would like to highlight Jose, at the pool concierge, who was very kind and showed immense attention to detail. He would save seats for us, bring us towels, and mention various events that day. He even cleaned my Mom and sister's glasses without us asking. His English is also superb. He should definitely be promoted. One of the servers by the pool named Ephraim was also wonderful and offered excellent service. Food: The food here was absolutely delicious. My family and I went to Bordeaux (French restaurant), Himitsu (Hibachi cooked in front of you), Portofino (Italian), and El Patio (traditional Mexican) for dinner various nights. Every restaurant had large meals with plenty delectable appetizer, entree, and dessert offerings. Pools and Beach: There were many large pools to swim in with varying levels of noise (one was very quiet and peaceful while the two closest to the beach were a bit louder). You can order drinks while sitting by the pool and there is even a swim-up bar at one of the pools. The beach front is also quite large and the water was crystal clear blue Rooms: the rooms are very spacious and the attention to detail in the rooms is incredible.

My Husband and I visited the resort for our late honeymoon and were blown away by the service. Before we had even arrived, we were contacted by the incredible Cici who reached out to confirm any dietary requirements (We are both Vegetarians, and i have an allergy to Avocado) as well as sort out holiday extra’s such as room decorations, arrival times etc. Once we had arrived, the team at secrets were very attentive in ensuring we felt right at home. Cici introduced us to the Dietary Team Lead Santiago who would continuously check we were okay with Food options and if the Hotel could accommodate us in any way. We were continuously reassured that all a la carte resturants would have options for us and if we wanted something else the chefs would be able to make this for us. When we visited Himatsu (the Pan Asian restaurant) the Chef’s were able to make Vegetable Gyoza’s, Tofu Pad Thai, Tofu Thai Green Curry and this was only because we had requested it. Overall, the hotel is very attentive in ensuring that any dietary requirements are accounted for, and as strict Vegetarian’s, my husband and I did not go hungry this trip. Our building concierge, Diana was fab in making sure we had plans for each evening, she would continuously check in to ensure we were okay and if there was anything she could do. She also worked with the hotel to make sure our room was decorated to celebrate our honeymoon. The pool staff were incredible in making sure we had sun beds and were not in the sun for too long. The entertainment at this resort is 10/10, all the staff go above and beyond to get you involved. Shout out to Carlos for taking us on the most Magical Turtle experience. Our holiday at secrets would not have been the same if it weren’t for Cici, Diana and Santiago! If you’re visiting the resort, know you are in safe hands, it’s the best resort I’ve visited.

We had a wonderful stay at Secrets Akumal Riviera Maya and truly felt well looked after from start to finish. The resort itself is beautiful, with great facilities, delicious dining options and a stunning beach, but what really stood out was the exceptional service. Monica, our concierge, was incredibly helpful and attentive throughout our stay - always on hand and genuinely caring. The information and PDFs shared were extremely useful and made planning and enjoying our time at the resort very easy. Every member of staff we encountered was friendly, approachable, and always willing to help, which made a huge difference and made us feel very welcome. Housekeeping was excellent overall and we especially loved the turndown service, such a thoughtful touch. We would absolutely recommend Secrets Akumal Riviera Maya and would love to return in the future.

I have vacationed with the Secrets brand of resorts several times. The reason we came back to Secrets Akumal was that our trip in 2023, the New Years Eve party with a live band and colour-changing LED dancefloor was probably the most memorable NYE I've had. For 2025 NYE, we did not expect half the resort to be closed down for a private party for DJ Claptone ( Never heard of this DJ ) Back in 2023 there were upsells for booths and champagne bottles - totally understand this business model. But never would I expect to pay $ (undisclosed amount) "preferred club room" for a 7-day trip and be excluded from the NYE festivities. Our family and the other poor peasants at the resort spent most of the evening (8pm till 11pm) without any evening entertainment near a lobby bar, listening to the thumping of the bass coming from the private VIP party. At 11pm the disco "Desires" was open for us, segregated peasants, in a fake smoke/fog-filled room. Needless to say we only stayed for a minute before returning to our room, which also resonated with the thumping bass. The next day we found out prices to get into this private party were between $900 and $1500 USD. We also found out David Guetta was playing in Tulum on January 2nd and tickets started at $170 USD. How they justify this pricing is absurd. Music was nothing special from DJ Claptone ( some Rihanna song was remixed - nothing that your friend who dabbles in DJing couldn't do) Food was good but did not meet or exceed my expectations. Not as good as I remembered it from 2 other "Secrets" trips.I have vacationed with the Secrets brand of resorts several times. Review gets a star for cleanliness and a star for service. Loses stars for closing down half the resort for a mediocre NYE private party. Secrets Akumal made short-term profits from upsells, but I heard a lot of negativity from other disgruntled guests. The simple trend over the years is Higher costs and Lower value/decreased satisfaction. There's a very high chance I won't be back. There are plenty of other brands to choose from.

Google
The resort and location is good, staff in reception are not very helpful but staff by the pool and beach are nice and helpful. The food is very poor and every meal is rushed with the aim to get you in and out as quickly as possible! and by the way you have to wait 30-45 mins every night for a table, which the hotel don’t mention or tell you at check-in! There is not much point complaining as they have your money in advance and therefore they will not make any adaptations. and they don’t seem to really care! The activities are a little butlins style, exceptionally loud and not thoughtful for some guests who would like to chill and relax. Some activities are ok. From the reviews it looks like the hotel only post the good reviews and not the ones with any issues, as I tried to post this on Tripadvisor but blocked not posted by the hotel. The management at the hotel don’t seem to care if you have any problems.Very poor really for a Hyatt hotel. I’m sure more to follow as we’re still at the resort!

It's hard to describe paradise, but I'll do my best. Secrets Akumal is indeed, elite. The grounds or gorgeous, meticulously maintained. The staff is wonderful - kind, attentive, and accommodating. The gym is great and the spa has dozens of offerings - look for the ladies walking around the main pool for the best deals each day! The food and drinks are the best I've ever had at an all-inclusive. And, the pools are *elite*. Always chairs available, wonderful pool games hosted by the activity team (who are true difference makers) and amazing views. We've been twice in the last several years, and we can't wait to go back.

Yelp
Amazing resort! They have gluten free pizza cooked in a wood oven, close to the beach. The resort is clean with tons of shade. There is a lot of trees and greenery to keep you covered. The beach is clean and no seaweed like up the road in Playa. I wood never go back to any resort near Cancun or Playa after coming here. The beach and water are clean.

Yelp
Our experience at Secrets Akumal was absolutely amazing. We've heard of some resorts not having great food or drinks, or hounding guests for extra money for certain things. At Secrets it was the complete opposite. The food and drinks were soooo good. We were shooting a wedding (videography team) and aren't drinking alcohol, so we got all virgin drinks which were fantastic. The atmosphere around the entire resort was so gorgeous and relaxing. We were constantly greeted by kind concierges and all staff who were attentive to our needs and were so kind and gentle. We would 100% come back to this resort to experience the beautiful vibe and experience. The airport was the only negative part of the experience, but had nothing to do with the resort. I would recommend this resort for any brides and grooms either looking to get married or for a beautiful honeymoon spot. Haven't tried many other resorts (especially in mexico), but highly highly recommend this one!

Yelp
From the minute we walked into the resort I KNEW we chose the right one. The service was amazing. We were given a tour of our suite and introduced to the people who would help us during our stay. The food was amazing and the coffee was strong. My favorite place to dine at was the seafood spot called Oceana and of course Coco Cafe. The amenities and non-alcoholic drinks were DEVINE! i could float in the pool drinking strawberry margaritas all day. It was such a beautiful time and i'd def will be back.

Yelp
At Secrets they really know what it means to be a quality resort. While I didn't make it to every restaurant, every meal I had at each restaurant was good and the service was top tier. The room service was also very efficient as well. The various entertainment throughout the day and on each day was enjoyable as well. There was things such as their version of "The Voice", a live band, and a guacamole making class. I also had the opportunity to enjoy the spa by getting a massage. The massage was very nice, I almost very asleep! For all my nursing/pumping mamas, they will freeze your milk for you! Just be sure to have it properly labeled etc. The rooms are very nice and clean as you would expect. Overall a great experience, I would certainly come back.

Yelp
We had a great time at the resort. The grounds were beautiful and very well kept. Preferred club was definitely worth the price as the room and areas to lounge were a bit more exclusive and nicer. We enjoyed many days on the beach and service was splendid. Fransico who worked/served the preferred club beach chairs was very attentive, super funny and made us feel valued. Our time in his area was the best. We loved the market cafe and wish we ate more lunches there than at the restaurants. Super good buffet style food.

Yelp
We really enjoyed our stay in Secrets Akumal. The resort is recently built so everything is relatively new. The staff was really nice, especially the entertainment guys- Jorge and Louis Enrique, server - Ayram and bartender- Dmitrio. Himitsu restaurant is a must visit. Me and my husband thought that it would be great for the Desires dance club to list what genre of music would be playing tonight. Also, it would be great to have fresh juices served not only in breakfast but also at lunch at the Market cafe. Importantly, we haven't seen such an amazing service for a long time! We definitely recommend this resort!

Yelp
Our stay at Secrets Akumal was an actual disaster. While the resort itself may look nice on the surface, the lack of professionalism and accountability from the staff made our experience beyond frustrating and stressful. After 2 months of being ignored by Secrets and stressing over trying to get our claim resolved, it's about time to warn others who may be considering this resort for a vacation. My husband fell ill during our stay and visited the on-site doctor on December 27, 2024. Once home and out of the HOSPITAL, we later requested basic documentation of this visit for an insurance claim, we were met with excuse after excuse, and denial after denial. Despite multiple follow-ups, the resort staff--including Sergio Chan and Miguel Salas--failed to provide anything official, downright REFUSED, and went out of their way to skirt any responsibility. Their response was essentially, "The doctor didn't write anything down, so it's not our problem." This is complete nonsense, as they KNOW my husband was seen. They ESCORTED us there! They just don't want to deal with it for whatever reason. This level of negligence is unacceptable for a supposedly high-end resort. We still are unable to submit a claim to our own insurance due to their negligence. This isn't just bad service, it's shady. Secrets Akumal wants to take your money, but the second you actually need help? Good luck. They don't care and will point fingers at you. We will never travel to a Secrets resort or Hyatt destination again until this situation is resolved. Don't trust me? Check all their 1-star reviews on Google. They all pretty much say the same thing as what happened to us.

Yelp
Here is our long but comprehensive review! Happy to answer questions in the comments. We stayed Tuesday to Tuesday, June 18-25. We booked through our travel agent a preferred Jr Swim-out suite and used Southwest non-stop both ways with private transfer to and from the resort. We arrived at the resort around 6:00 pm. Preferred check in was a breeze and they had drinks and food for us in the preferred club while check in was completed. After check in we saw our room in building 6, where we met on concierge, Sergio. Sergio was amazing, you could literally ask Sergio for anything and he would get it. He even got us an item my wife desperately needed one evening after 06:00 pm, when he should have been off. The rest of the night we went and walked the resort, came back to the room and ordered room service for dinner since we were both exhausted from traveling. We had no problems getting chairs by the pool and did not notice the "chair game". Everyday we were up around 8, went to breakfast, went back to the room to change, then headed to the pool always around 09:30-10:00 am there were many chairs available. We always chose to set up at the main pool (the one closest to the beach) with the swim-up bar. Sharon was our server. I don't think our stay would have been the same without her. She just doesn't serve the food and drinks she brightens the day and starts the party. We called her shot Sharon. On Wednesday at Oceana they have a free tuna carving demonstration. When it's over you get to taste all the different ways tuna can be prepared. The grilled tuna is amazing! Overall the food was excellent! I will break up my thoughts into breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Breakfast: We were preferred but we never did the preferred breakfast at Seaside Grill. We loved the variety of the buffet. They had a variety of American and Mexican options. Including and omelet station which my wife loved and a shake/smoothie bar which I loved. The shake/smoothie bar is also where you can get any kind of mimosa made or Bloody Mary. In our opinion the room service breakfast was limited and we never chose this option. Lunch: Seaside Grill was awesome for lunch! My wife said the burgers were "amazing because the meat actually tasted like back in the states". We also enjoyed the popups by the pool. The chicken quesadilla that Sharon would bring us from Barefoot Grill was amazing. Pizza is every day, and they also rotate seafood, burgers, tacos, nachos, wings of the grill, and probably others we missed. Dinner: We did not try all of the restaurants for dinner. We were gifted a romantic dinner on the beach for our honeymoon and that meal was by far our favorite. The steak and lobster they served for the romantic dinner on the beach were so delicious. You do have to pay extra for this but it is worth it in our opinion. My wife is not a huge seafood fan so we stayed away from Oceana, Himitsu regular menu, Bordeaux, and we canceled our reservation at the Greek restaurant, Santorino. My favorite of the restaurants you don't have to pay for was El Patio and my go to there was the bacon wrapped shrimp. My wife's favorite was Portofino and her go to there was the Chicken Parmesan. We also thought very highly of the teppanyaki experience at Himitsu and recommend you schedule this with your concierge the day you arrive because it books fast.If you are a non seafood eater, like my wife, there are great options at any of the other restaurants. For drinks our go tos were for my wife Malibu and Diet Coke and for me frozen Bahama mama with malibu rum instead of vodka. We also enjoyed the espresso martinis, strawberry daiquiris, pina coladas, and pineapple mimosas. When in doubt, ask the bartender or server for their favorite drink or shot! There were at least 4 weddings going on during our visit, so there was a mix of couples, friend groups, and families with older kids. We met a lot of great people and made some great friends! Overall you will have an amazing time at the resort! My wife and I have both been to Mexico a few times and stayed at multiple resorts even other Secrets and we don't know how another resort would top this. We definitely recommend and look forward to returning sooner than later. THIS WASN'T GOODBYE, IT WAS WE WILL SEE YOU LATER!!!!

Yelp
Secrets Akumal is an Adults only all-inclusive resort located 1 hour and 20 minutes from the airport. Once you arrive you receive a warm welcome with a cold towel Then seated in the main entrance for about 5 minutes then taken into the preferred club for further check in (if you booked preferred). - The check in process is longer than most resorts. It took about an hour to check in... which isn't ideal when arriving at your destination. - The food to us was sub par. Hit or miss at most restaurants. The main restaurants that were hits were seaside grill (we had an amazing dinner here) and the marketplace cafe. They have buffet breakfast and lunch you don't want to miss!!! Men have to wear pants and nice sandals or close toed shoes at dinner to ALL restaurants or you have to dine outside if outside dining is offered. So pack accordingly. - The rooms are very nice, very clean, THEY SMELL AMAZING. We had drinks and water bottles restocked daily. They also have normal size lotion, shampoo, conditioner and body wash. A clothing steamer and hair dryer. A perk, they have ceiling fans and you can ask for a bedside fan!!! Turndown service was also a very luxurious touch. - The spa is costly but 5 stars. It's so luxurious and smells absolutely amazing you'll want the scent in your home!!! Hot stone massage was one of the best we've had. - This is a quiet lowkey resort. There's not much going on. It's very tranquil. Music was only played at the main pool and it was hit or miss whether it was lively or not. We found this report too chill for us. The resort is also filled With lots of foliage lining the pathway to wherever you're walking. You will get lost so as soon as you start walking from your room so make a mental road map in your head. We got lost the entire trip... finding it difficult and frustrating to find our next stop at the resort or even make it back to our room! - The beach has a lot of beach chairs which is appreciated. We always had a chair no matter the time of day. They also have servers servicing the people at the beach and maintenance cleaning seaweed. It's well maintained. Walk down the beach and find Fernando Jr and Sr and pay $30 to snorkel with the sea turtles. YOU WONT REGRET IT.

Yelp
This is our last day at this resort and I have to say I'm going to miss it Everything is going perfect ! The staff are amazing , so professional and hard working , always with a smile and really welcoming. Most of the restaurants have amazing food, but in my experience slightly cold when served, still very delicious. Rooms are so clean and beds are so comfortable! They have night shows every night . Overall very relaxing and enjoyable The only downside"if you consider it a downside" is the ocean view rooms are not really ocean view due to lots of trees , which I found it even more attractive and the infinity pool is not actually infinity since it's blocked by the chairs and trees on the beach .no seaweeds this time of the year, they clean the beach daily and the sound is powdery white!! Beautiful and very memorable Christmas this year !thank you Sectet Akumal.

Yelp
Returned for our annual mother daughter trip and once again had a perfect stay. Room 4205 was incredible and we called it our frozen tundra and it felt so good after a hot day in the sun in such an incredibly beautiful resort. I am going to try and review some folks and activities that I didn't have enough room for in my trip advisor review. If you love a jungle feel with the most beautiful foliage and incredible wildlife, you will adore this place as we do. A new thing was seeing two raccoons in the rafters over the restaurant staring down at us. So cute but they let out a scream that makes you think someone is being murdered! Lol, quite entertaining. Beltran and Francisco took care of us by the activities pool and our drinks never went dry. Can't get enough of the pizza oven and the one thing I forgot was the FISH FRY day! Oh my word, the fried fish and biggest fried shrimp taco day was heaven on a plate. They also had octopus and marlin tacos. I am telling you that could be my last meal on earth. Thank goodness my husband and I are returning in August! Oscar, Ivan the Chef and Luis Carrillo and Lucia Antonia from activities ran that fish fry and when I win the lottery, they are coming to my house! Javier took care of us at breakfast at Market Cafe and had my mimosa ready every day. Who ever invented beef tinga is a genius. I just think it should be a daily dish like the black refried beans! Like a warm and spicy Mexican beef stew. I guess you can see how much we enjoy this resort. I call it adult summer camp and love every activity they have . Tiny but mighty Diana will put you thru some exercise and Rene will keep you laughing. We so enjoyed Dania and Tony while snorkeling with the sea turtles. Service is impeccable!

Yelp
We booked our vacation with our travel agent for a regular swim out room June 19-24. We arrived and the first thing they asked us at check In "any special occasions" We informed them it was our 30th Anniversary. We asked for an upgrade and they gave us two choices ....1. Beachfront, regular room or 2. Swim out Honeymoon suite with on call concierge. Because we were there during the STORM we opt out on the beach front and went with the Honeymoon suite I noticed it took a little long to get checked in because when we arrived in our room there was an Anniversary sign in our door with wine and a personalized letter. So, while waiting they had someone run and do all the special treat for us. On call Concierge was awesome, even got me a Secrets bag. I especially loved our Romantic dinner on the beach. Waiter took our awesome pictures with the moon in the background and they were very attentive. The food in the market was ...just ok to me nothing special. The Japanese restaurant was my fav out of all of them. The French was my least favorite-maybe cuz it was fine dinning snd it was small portions. Got a call 2x a day from our concierge if we needed any snacks/drinks, towels or any additional service. Service here was impeccable! They made my anniversary Worthwhile!!

Yelp
Came here for a solo trip in 2020. It was one of the best solo trip I ever had. On site snorkeling is the best. I have seen so many different fish, turtles, I hang out in the water and many butterflies flying around. It was beautiful. I rented out cabana for the days I was here. Well worth the upgrade. Friendly and efficient service. I did a number of spa treatment on site. Their strength is the skincare and body care. Massage was so so. Food was overall okay. Wait time was long. Shows were good. Drinks were okay. Once things are more settled, I am planning for coming back for another week. Will definitely try scuba diving this time!

Yelp
We thoroughly loved our visit to Secrets Akumal Riviera Maya. Staff, amenities, facilities, beach, restaurants, and entertainment were superb. We were so impressed when, after mentioning that the meat at Santorini had been tough, we received not only a phone call but also a visit from the head concierge. That proves a dedication to providing excellent customer service. At our age, we truly appreciated having a quiet pool where we could enjoy serene relaxation all day, again with outstanding service. The afternoon ice cream and/or chilled fresh fruit carts, and the chilled face cloths were especially a welcome surprise. Another facet that exceeded other resorts we've been to is that Secret Akumal supplies name brand products such as Cottenelle toilet paper and Kleenex/Puffs facial tissues in lieu of the cheaper, thinner brands. We appreciated this very much. Lastly, or concierge was wonderful and so welcoming. She demonstrated genuine regard for our comfort and convenience and we enjoyed being greeted by and speaking to her daily. Thank you! We will recommend Secrets Akumal to our family and friends. Secrets Akumal Riviera Maya is now our favorite resort and we are planning a return 10-day visit in March 2025! Hope to see you then.

Yelp
This is a nice resort, however, they should do more to make it clear to potential guests that it's much more of a jungle than a beach-type resort. It would go a long way to set the right expectations, and therefore ensure as pleasant a stay as possible. The good: food seems better than at the other Secrets property we stayed at in the past, with one surprise exception, read on. The resort grounds are lush, with 3 pools to choose from, each with a different activities profile. The one evening show we caught was actually pretty good. The bad: 1) The service. At the pool, the attendant for that section passed by me 3x without a glance and took orders and brought the drinks of the couple seated on the next chaise over. Was my swimsuit so small that you didn't notice me? No tip for you, lady. 2) The bread. For the love, why consistently stale?? Also, food-wise, desserts look good but aren't all that great. 3) It's far even from the new Tulum airport; 45 minute drive. 4) Speaking of far: this is a fairly large resort, and the only way around it is by walking. No golf carts. Take that into consideration when you pack your killer stilettos for dinner. The ugly: Don't go thinking you're going there for the beach, especially if you love the one in Cancun. At this resort, the beach is a sliver, the seaweed piled high and stinky, the refreshing waves non-existent, the ocean water not all that clear, and if you want to actually see the ocean from your room, it's a premium room at a considerable nightly upcharge.

Yelp
Just finished five nights at this resort. The service was impeccable . Everyone was so attentive and helpful. Many spoke English, which also made it so much easier to communicate. Whether it was a housekeeping or serving food or drinks, or even towel service on the beach, everything was on point. We never lacked for anything. The concierge was so friendly and knew you by name instantly. They made the visit amazing. Definitely looking forward to coming back to this secrets, or potentially others in the future. The resort is well over an hour from the Cancun airport. So it does take a while to get there on the shuttle service, especially if there are other hotel stops on the way. Additionally, if you book an excursion in Cancun or Isla de Mujeres, it will take at least 2 1/2 hours to get there based on all the stops in between. If you book an excursion, I recommend Tulum Instead of going towards Cancun. It will be much closer and you'll have much less travel time.

Yelp
My stay at Secrets Riviera Cancun Resort & Spa was absolutely unforgettable! The soft, sandy beach was like a dream, making every moment spent by the ocean magical. We stayed in Building Five in the Preferred Club, and the service we received was beyond incredible. The staff went above and beyond to cater to our every need, ensuring our experience was seamless and luxurious. From the attentive service to the beautiful surroundings, this resort exceeded all expectations. If you're looking for a perfect getaway, this is the place to be!

Yelp
Came here on vacation as a girls trip. Had no idea that it was a couples resort... actually didn't realize it till we walked around and all I saw were couples but that didn't stop us of enjoying this place :) We had a shuttle take us from the airport to this resort (this was not included in our package) upon arrive we were greeted with fresh towels and drinks they also checked our temps as covid regulations and then escorted us to the checkin area. We waited a bit before we could officially check in, there were a few parties in the lobby but they did have cookies, water and champagne available as you waited. They also said you were welcome to walk at the bar which was right below the lobby. Once you were with a rep check in was smooth sailing! The rooms were extremely clean. The only downside was our AC was so finicky and maintenance had to come down a few times to fix it. If you mess with the doors it trips then AC somehow. Also, noticed that there were a lot of dishes in the walkways outside the rooms from people ordering room service. I guess room service was backed up. The restaurants were pretty much walk in. there were a few where you had to make reservations...so make sure to call and book a slot. The El Patio Mexican restaurant was by far my favorite. Food was the best her, the service was exceptional and the servers were fun! The restaurant by the middle main pool barefoot grill had delicious food as well as market cafe. I visited coco cafe often for snack on the food, ice cream and the daily dose of coffee. Oceana was my least favorite, they paired a lot of seafood with fruit and I was not a fan! Restaurants are no 24/7 but room service is and the food is decent. They also had a luau but it was first come first seat and by the time you ate there you'd be stuff from one of the other restaurants. They also have a gym and coaches for daily activities. I did CrossFit and yes it completely kicked my ass. As soon as I showered.. I went to the pool and started drinking. Check out was extremely easy and yessss I would 100%%%%% come back here for vacation!

Yelp
Secrets Akumal is was far more enjoyable then it's sister property in Cabo. We were here late May early June and enjoyed great daytime weather, with afternoon/evening rain. Of the many dinning options available we enjoyed Bordeaux (French Restaurant) the best. Although all of them were very good for hotel dining. If you want to to take advantage of the activities arrive 15 minutes prior to start time as many fill up. Illl

Yelp
Amazing property, their attention to detail is impressive. We had lunch on the beach several days (on the sand, not near the beach)and after lunch the ice cream cart shows up on the beach. All of this is included. Room service is 24-7 and each building has a concierge to help with anything.

Yelp
This is the first all inclusive resort I have ever experienced, and it was a fabulous time. I went with two of my girlfriends for a girls getaway and we loved our stay. I enjoyed the fact that it was adults only, which really promoted a calm and peaceful experience. Akumal Beach is famous in the Riviera Maya for its turtles, and I saw so many during my snorkeling adventure! The resort had included excursions to snorkel so I signed up for one and the instructor showed us where to go. The coral and turtles were so beautiful and fun to see! As for the food, it was so cool to just walk into all of the different restaurants and know that everything is included and not have to deal with splitting a check. We tried French cuisine at Bordeaux, Mexican food at El Patio, the international buffet at Market Café, seafood at Oceana, Italian food at Portofino, seafood at Seaside Grill, Asian food at Himitsu, and cocktails at the swim up bar and Rendezvous. Most of our meals were quite good, with a stand out being Bordeaux and Portofino. There were so many different pools and the poolside drinks service was outstanding. We also took a hotel-booked day tour to see some cenotes and ruins. I can't wait to come back one day!

Yelp
What a lovely experience! My husband and I spent our honeymoon here for a full seven days and so enjoyed our experience. I know people can be meh about food at all inclusive resorts - but I thoroughly enjoyed my experience. The French and the steak restaurant were my least favorites - but everything else was exceptional. From breakfast at the Seaside Grill (we had a preferred room) to lunch at the poolside bar, and then dinners, we really looked forward to the options and variety we were offered. (And the drinks - YUM.) For entertainment - we thought the day programming was the best. From active programs like pool biking and beach volleyball, to minute to win it games and trivia, they had a little something for everyone. And the entertainment staff were so so pleasant! The evening program was, mostly, laughably bad - but my husband enjoyed watching with a drink in hand. Our room was excellent and after a very harmless accident with housekeeping, we were comped a front row beach bed for a day, which was lovely. Besides that, both housekeeping and our concierge were exceptional. From small surprises and treats to celebrate our honeymoon throughout our stay, to booking special experience, they were great. While there we had a spa day - hydrotherapy, massage, facial, and reflexology and I wish I could have done that everyday! It was incredibly relaxing and the spa facilities were exceptional and relaxing. Through the resort, we also booked a tequila tasting and Margarito was fantastic! I truly learned so much about tequila - he was personable, funny, and educational, answering all our many questions. Finally, check in and out were easy and quick. Yes, we had to say no to their selling for the vacation club - but they took no for an answer and let us be on our way. While we probably won't be back, as we are not repeat vacationers, we would definitely try out another Secrets location based on this experience!

Yelp
We had the most amazing trip, this resort is better than the pictures. It's gorgeous, clean and the food is amazing. They even have a talented pianist at the Italian and French restaurant! It's only an hour away from the airport and it is pure luxury. Toni and Dany from the activities crew were so awesome! We did paddle boarding, Kayaking and archery with them and had a blast! They even did a water rescue! Sofia was also so sweet and kind while we attended the evening events in the lobby and the theater. Jose our concierge at building 8 always made sure we had all the scheduled activities and helped to book our special dinner, spa appointment and even checked on us when we wet paddle boarding. The Buffet is also amazing but the staff is even more amazing! Giovanni and Francisco treated us like family. Book your trip! You will be glad you took my advise! Luxury with a home feel.

Yelp
We went for a wedding and I have to say that the service was absolutely phenomenal. The staff, concierges, everyone was so friendly, welcoming and accommodating. It is a beautiful resort. Adults only but in the quieter side. Very relaxing, cool activities. The beach is gorgeous too but there is a ton of seaweed. The team there rakes it up but it's a lot. I think the signage could be better for the different buildings. Also be prepared for the condensation, it's really humid. The restaurants onsite are delish! Lots of different options. Our room had an ocean view and outside tub. They also had swim up rooms and a swim up bar. I highly recommend and will be back!

Yelp
We had an amazing time. the staff was very friendly, accommodating and attentive each and every day. The food at each of the restaurants was delicious. We had an amazing experience with Angel and his wellness sound vibrations on the beach the last day we were at the resort. He had an incredible energy and spirit and made a huge impact as I move into retirement after 39 years of teaching. We highly this resort! Sherri and Brett

Yelp
Very nice resort. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Only disappointment was the food. It was good, but nothing was "elevated ".

Yelp
This was a great adults only all-inclusive resort. We did the preferred junior suite and I'm so glad we did. We were able to get top shelf liquor, eat at Seaside earlier than others for breakfast, and have other snacks in the preferred lounge. All of our bags were sanitized when we arrived as well as the bottom of our shows and hands. Our room was fantastic and the AC was very good. The room was spotless and spacious with a tub on the balcony as well as a jetted tub inside. We also had a standing shower and glass door separating the toilet. If you do preferred, you have a specific menu you can order from for room service. Our fridge was stocked with juice, soda, and bottle water. There were snacks and mini liquor bottles on our counter. Room service came and did turn down service and cleaned our room every day which was nice. There's about 4 or 5 pools: one has a swim up bar, one is the quiet pool, and the other is close to Seaside Grill. Staff comes by and introduces themselves as well as asks if you need anything drink wise. I loved that there was so much shade available if you wanted it. The pools were very clean as was the beach. If you ever got lost, the wonderful people working there could easily help you and were happy to help. There were shows pretty much every night we were there and they started with a dinner buffet. There was also lunch buffets available if you didn't want to go to any of the restaurants. I definitely recommend this resort for those who aren't sure of it. This was our first time and it was great. You can also book excursions through the hotel if you want to.

Yelp
We just got back from our wonderful trip to Secrets Akumal. We stayed at 8 other Secrets properties in Mexico, Dominican Republic and Jamaica. This time at Secrets Akumal, was absolutely perfect. We can't decide between Secrets Akumal and Secrets Maroma Beach, which one is our favorite. Definitely this resort has more pools and lounges than any other resort we've been to. It's a plus that you don't have to wake up at 6am to reserve chairs by the pool. People are phenomenal; Eliezer, Lilly, (just to name a few) thank you for all! I think that this time we will return to this property. It's absolutely perfect! Our 10 days vacation was not enough!

Yelp
This secrets is actually an awesome resort the food, drinks and staff were on point about everything. The check in process went smoothly, they showed you around the resort before taking you to your room. The room was really clean. I always bring my lysol sheets to wipe down the room but housekeeping did a great job. The staff was extremely nice and it wasn't because they were getting paid to be nice. When we go on vacation we look for different things. This vacation we were looking for an great view and a lot of relaxation. There was a huge serenity pool on one side and if you want more action there is another pool on the other side of the resort with a swim up bar and activities. The beach was clean and there were plenty of chairs with umbrellas in the sun or in the shade. The nightly entertainment had really talented staff not the waiter trying to multitask. It was well organized and put together. The breakfast buffet was great they switch up some of the items. You have to wear a mask and they give you a plastic glove to use but most of the food was served to you. The seafood restaurant had great seafood and it taste really fresh. We were amazed how great the coconut shrimp taste. The only downside was service at this particular restaurant was slow. All of the bars were pretty consistent with making great drinks that taste and look good. Everyday they had a different drink special. The wet bar in your room only consisted of water, juice, soda and beer no tequila or rum was in your room. Finally they were definitely in compliance with the Covid 19 guidelines and they also provide a free Covid test so you can return home.

Yelp
Secrets Akumal A well needed vacation. This was the perfect resort after the move from the last one. Everything matched the vision that I had for a resort vacation in Mexico. Food was great, activities were great, shows were fun, the pools were amazing and the staff was awesome. we didn't have anything that we didn't like to eat the restaurants were spectacular. We love the upgrade of our room with the balcony, we ordered room service one night so we could get chicken wings, lol. The cleaning staff was great, the entertainment staff was great, the waiters and waitresses were awesome. I had no complaints about any of the above stuff. 1. What I do want you to know is that they really push the time shares, and we wanted nothing to do with that. 2. They pushed it so much upon checking in that they forgot to give us the details about what they have at the property. 3. They gave us some coupons to get, for instants, $10 off a little wine. What we pay $72 for their they wanted to charge us $400. 4. They pushed the very expensive gourmet meal on the beach even after their $60 coupon it's still at a cost $240. And a bottle of wine was extra. LOL, not. 5. We didn't do the spa treatments either because it was so stupid expensive in price. It cost a lot for this place, we didn't wanna spend any extra money. I WOULD RECOMMEND Here are some special people; -Lobby; Salvador& Daniel Elaine Alexandra Victor -Barefoot bar; Alejandro -Seaside grill; Alberto,Alma, Guadalupe -Concierge; Araceli -Bellman; Juan -Preferred club; Mario,Victor, Roberto, Sandiego, Diane, Esteban, Jesus -Barracuda; Marco -activities; Metz & Renéé -Room service; Mario -Housekeeping; Angle -Mexican Showtime Dinner America Elezar Alejandro Diana -Oceana Guadalupe & David Oceana; Guadalupe & David were awesome and my heart goes out to the amazing chef's. They created works of art for the palate. From Scallops Shishimi, amazing coconut shrimp, grilled octopus, fig salad, smoke octopus for the appetizer and main course. I couldn't stop eating. My favorite restaurant at this resort! Preferred club; Mario, Victor, Roberto, Sandiego, Diane, Esteban, Jesus Barracuda- Marco, great employee. Activity Metz was so fun, I loved her enthusiasm. Bingo in the water was fun and I really did enjoy the pool biking. Today we kicked Renéé bottom playing BOCCÉ, loved him. I WOULD RECOMMEND #WorldofHyatts #SecretsResort #Seaturtles #Akmal

Yelp
Absolutely beautiful location. Lush foliage, iguanas and coatis. The layout is such that almost anyone will get lost. Not enough signs at the forks in the road. I had a partial ocean view building 7 near the 24/7 cafe but a good 5 minute walk to beach. All rooms have in room jacuzzi and minibar stocked with beer water and soda. Service is almost overboard great. Hand sanitizer is everywhere. All toiletries are sanitized and wrapped until you arrive. Includes toothpaste sunscreen soap body wash sewing kit. 24 hr room service on your in room tablet. Food is good to great. Restaurants rotate with 1-2 being closed every night. Staff wear masks and try to enforce guests wearing masks indoors. The guests don't always comply with masks which made me uncomfortable. Just like home right? Buffet is served to you by staff. Dinner restaurants have indoor and outdoor seating. All bars serve top shelf liquor with nasty artificial tasting mixers unless you request fresh made drinks or do jack n sprite etc. Not even a decent margarita. What a waste of all that top shelf liquor. The red wines are tolerable. The chardonnay is not drinkable. FYI: there is a $600 hold placed if you give a card for incidentals. Men need pants and collared shirt for dinner. January nights are cool. Can get down to 60s. I wore jeans some nights and brought a serious heavy sweater to go over my dresses. Service is some of the best of any resort I have been to. Recommended

Yelp
We returned to our Secrets stay in Akumal for a sixth time and I have to say that it was the best trip yet! Everyone at the Secrets resort in Akumal treated us like royalty from the minute we stepped off the shuttle. From Abraham, Erik, Esteban and Orlando bringing us refreshing drinks at the pool to Antonio making sure we had everything we needed throughout the day. We never had a want for anything. The food at the Italian restaurant (Portofino) was excellent. Diego and Luis provided a fabulous service experience. Araceli, our Concierge went out of her way to seek me out and wish me a happy birthday. She had our room decorated in celebration. These great people are all amazing and are the backbone of the resort. Four people deserve even higher recognition. They went above and beyond our expectations and should be acknowledged separately because of how they treated us. On our first day, Oliver (on the entertainment team) recognized us from previous visits and welcomed us with open arms. He stopped by almost every day with a warm hello. He and another gentleman named Eliezer (pool concierge) brought me a birthday cake at the pool. Eli had a great energy about him accompanied with a warm smile. He sought us out on our last day to say goodbye even though he wasn't working in our area. He was very special! Marco in the sports bar was awesome! He made the best cocktails! He even memorized our pink and black yeti cups, knowing exactly what went in them every time. You can tell he cares about the quality of the cocktail he makes. His blackberry margaritas are the best of the resort. He even personally delivered coconut's filled with the perfect concoction poolside (something a bartender does not typically do). Thank you for the excellent service Marco! Lastly, Francisco was our server at the third (quiet) pool. He is the hardest worker I have ever seen. He never stops serving drinks and piles of plates filled with food. A refreshing and positive experience followed with questions of what he could do to make our experience even better. He should be recognized as a great asset to the company and the business model for what service should look like for any business. Overall, we had an excellent time at Secrets Akumal and would highly recommend this beautiful property and the surrounding area. Can't wait until our seventh visit

Yelp
Great service! Wonderful location! Worth the money. Great food. Beautiful plants and flowers. Adorable animals. There is always something to do AND you can easily do nothing. I plan on going to a different SECRETS location, early next year!

Yelp
Simply amazing! We went here for our Honeymoon back in March. The restaurants were so delicious. The French and Italian restaurants were some of the best I've ever been too. The staff were so great and everyone was friendly and helpful. Truly they wanted you to have a great experience. Now onto the real reason for this review. Marco! Marco, you were attentive, friendly, funny and a great bartender!!! I went out of my way to say hi to him everyday that's how great he is.

Yelp
Just don't do it. There's better places in the riviera Maya this is not the place to relax or enjoy Mexico. I wished I had seen the one star reviews before choosing this place. Management is non existent. Untrained and unprofessional employees all trained to say " No worries " "no problem " but unable to solve any issues. A terrible experience all around. The building concierge is just a hall monitor but he is not even there. The head of concierge unable to comprehend simple things or solve any issues. No manager was available until we were leaving. The poor people working there were just thrown to do work without the proper training like the lady making coffee in the morning, wasn't a barista simply was cleaning and trying to figure out the espresso machine. The hair and make up ppl are the same ladies cleaning the spa and then tried to work on your hair with out being trained to be stylist or an esthetician! This resort takes advantage of the locals need for work and gives them a title and name tag to perform duties that they don't even understand. We must've talked to dozens of people to get simple requests and they were just unable to perform. Shame on this corporation for taking our money and the poor treatment and exploration of the workers. Yes,the place is beautiful but the constant fumigation smell and the poor service makes the place feel like hell. The restaurants never had availability even though there were empty tables all around.

Yelp
I would like to start this review off saying, I am a travel agent and I have spent time in villages of third world countries and am very aware of precautions to take to not contract bacteria from food or water. We are also Unlimited Vacation Club Members and this is the 3rd Secrets we have visited. Both my husband and I got salmonella from this resort. As well as other guests we spoke to in the lobby while checking out, all with the same symptoms. We were there for 8 days total, my husband got sick on day 5 and I got sick on day 7. He saw the resort doctor on Wednesday evening and we spent $400 on getting random medications and for the visit. When we got back home we both ended up in the ER, where they stated the medications that doctor gave him weren't helpful and to stop taking them, leading to a $20,000 ER bill for both of us. I tried to call the resort three days after we got home to tell them our diagnosis so they could try and figure out how we got sick on their property and the operator couldn't care less. I asked to speak to a manager after explaining what happened and she just said "why." After I pushed she finally said someone would call me back and it's been three weeks with no return call. Resort Grounds- This resort is huge and very green. It has beautiful picture spots and you really feel like you're on a tropical island. The iguanas are all over the resort which is also really cool. It is hard to navigate if your direction stupid like me, but there are a few maps on the grounds. Food- I had a harder time finding food to eat here than the other Secrets. I have a very specific diet and they always made me feel bad when I asked to modify something or take something off a dish. They are also VERY strict about the dress code for men, all men must wear long pants to dine inside for dinner. Hotel rooms- The rooms were nice and large. We had a swim out and it could have been better kept up with but it was under trees so we understood there was only so much that could be done. We had a hard time with timing of the housekeeping services. They would always come right when we were getting ready for dinner so most nights we didn't get turndown service. Staff- The staff was very friendly, they almost always said hi whenever we walked by. Sommelier Paula was fantastic. She went above and beyond. Spa-Both times we went in there were lots of people waiting to be taken back to their appointment. When I went in for my appointment, I was take back 10 minutes after my appointment for a 50 minutes facial. My facial ended 7 minutes early, so I was only given a 30 minute facial after you account for getting settled in the room. There was no neck or shoulder massage like at other Pernovia Secrets spas. There was also no after care information given, I.e. stay out of the sun, drink lots of water. When I let them know if the missing time I paid for, they said they could give me another facial later that day, which tells me that the treatment they did really didn't mean/do anything if they would give me another so soon. Pool- We spent most of our time as the quiet pool, which was very nice. There were always chairs available and someone walking around to take food and drink orders. The sports bar was also nice and we liked that it was right by the bar. There isn't much shade while in the pool but there were lots of different elevations in the pool for sitting and lounging. There were also large blue floats just in the pool for people to use, which I've never seen at another Secrets, we always bring our own though. We will not be revisiting Secrets Akumal Rivera Maya again, nor will I be sending clients there, as we spent half of our vacation sick in bed and when trying to help prevent it for other guests the resort couldn't be bothered to call us back.

Yelp
There have only been a few times in my life that I get someone and am in awe. At this point in my life, I've been there....done that and there's not much to surprise me. This resort delivered an awe moment time and again. The four of us had the most incredible experience of our lives. Kudos to whomever hires for this location. There was never a time an employee passed me without smiling and saying hi. Most of the staff actually will go out of their way to make sure you are happy and having a good time. The funniest thing about it is, it sometimes felt like a competition to see who can take better care of you. This resort to a dream and actually the only vacation I have been on, that we are already planning to go back. This is a dream vacation and a dream location. All inclusive and NO KIDS is truly the only way to travel. Gracias...Gracias...MUCHO GRACIAS Kelly and I are already planning a return trip.

Yelp
5 stars is truly not enough for this absolutely amazing all inclusive resort! Secrets Akumal is located about an hour & a half from Cancun airport and is just north of Tulum. I enjoyed 7 glorious days here and let me tell you, it was heaven on earth! The grounds of this resort is a lush tropical paradise; wildlife (iguanas, lizards and birds mostly), beautiful exotic flowers, plants and trees galore. If you like staying active on vacation there's beach volleyball, yoga, snorkeling, water sports, pool aerobics & spin classes. As of last week, the gym is currently still closed but they do put weight benches and free weights right outside the door and if you would like a yoga mat, just ask! The resort is big enough to get in your daily steps just by walking here & there but not so big that you'll get lost. Pretty easy to navigate and you'll get it down after a day or two. We loved all the restaurants; Himitsu, Bordeaux and Portofino being our favorites for dinner. It was great being able to try so many dishes. We opted for the house wine & champagne; no complaints, everything was good and paired nicely with meals. The steak quesadillas and chips with pico & guacamole from Barefoot Grill (pool bar) were definitely a favorite; we had them almost everyday as a pre lunch meal! Paired very well with some cold Coronas or a Don Julio Margarita. Seaside Grill is epic; a la carte breakfast included fresh fruit, pancakes, yogurt, crepes, Mexican omelettes, Eggs Benedict and much more. They offer green juice, fruit smoothies, spiked coffees, mimosas and anything else you would like from the bar. Gabriela & Edgar both need to be recognized for giving exceptional service each and every day. It was sad to say goodbye to them. We also had lunch everyday at Seaside Grill as well. I'm 100% honest when I tell you I had the shrimp tacos every single day for lunch including the day we had to go home, 1 hour before our transfer came! Other favorites at Seaside were fish tacos, ribeye tacos, Caesar salad, lime soup and the tamarind wings. Enjoyed sampling different margaritas also; the passionfruit, jalapeño and cucumber margaritas were our favs. Coco Cafe (open 24 hours) offers endless coffee drinks, tea, ice cream, croissants and all kinds of sweets & treats. The coconut ice cream is a must!!! We had it everyday! Pistachio and strawberry were our other favorites. Our concierge Yair also provided exceptional service during our trip. We enjoyed talking with him throughout the day and he made sure we had everything we needed. Thank you, Yair! We enjoyed our swim out room immensely (we would book it again) and building 3 was perfect for us. Our swim out had full afternoon sun and we took advantage of that almost every afternoon after lunch. Housekeeping is wonderful; just give them a ring if there's anything specific you need like extra bath towels, toiletries and whatnot. Feel free to call them early evening to schedule turn down service while you're at dinner. We were pleased with everything the resort had to offer as preferred guests, especially the Preferred Club Lounge. Throughout the day into the evening they provide (buffet style) hors d'oeuvres like spring rolls, mini antipasto salads, small sandwiches and bite sized desserts. As preferred guests your building will be closer to the beach & pools, you'll get snacks in your room, shooters and beers in your mini fridge, access to preferred lounge for snacks & apps with top shelf liquor and complimentary hydrotherapy at the spa (we absolutely loved it and would do it again). Definitely book preferred if all that sounds desirable to you. Though mostly couples (gay and straight), all are welcome here at Secrets Akumal. Plenty of moms & daughters, groups of friends, small bridal parties, parents with older kids, honeymooners etc. All of the staff are friendly & polite. It's not a crazy party resort; though there's plenty of fun entertainment but note that everything shuts down around 11 pm. Definitely a chill and relaxed atmosphere. I would absolutely 100% book Secrets Akumal again; truly can't wait to go back! Thank you for a wonderful vacation!

Yelp
I can't even begin to explain how outstanding this resort was. I literally dream of going back!the grounds are pristine, the employees are all extremely friendly and attentive. The location is phenomenal being right on the beach with no seaweed as the workers clean it daily. All the food is excellent and walking distance into the town of Akumal wasn't far at all and was such a fun day trip. It's definitely geared toward the people who just want a chill relaxing time. No crazy party life and that's just what we wanted! When we come back to Mexico we will only stay here!! I could go on and on, highly recommend! Just book your trip! Not to mention there's no kids and it's all inclusive... how do you get better than that!!

Yelp
Secrets Akumal was a gorgeous property! Perfect for couples. The lush landscaping and thoughtful design encouraged romance at every turn. The rooms were perfect--large, comfortable, and clean. The staff was amazing, so friendly and accommodating! The food was delicious and beautifully presented. They have a clean beach and pools with lots of complimentary lounge chairs and attentive staff. (Tips are not required, but we found even a small tip was really appreciated by all the staff.) The only issue we had was our "VIP 30% off spa perk" did not apply to the spa package we purchased because they said it was already discounted. That would have been good to know that in advance of our stay. But we understood. Sightseeing tours and dining experiences were offered, but never pushed. We stayed on property our entire trip. Kayaking was offered, but we skipped it. (It was pretty windy that day.) We snorkeled by the hotel beach (gear is provided but we brought our own masks). We saw fish and a sting ray. The evening shows and events were great. We loved the arts festival, especially learning to macrame. The fire show was great too. It was supposed to be put on poolside, but it was raining. I thought it would be canceled, but the staff quickly reacted and moved the show into the theatre. They always had a plan B to ensure everything went smoothly. Super impressive! Overall our trip was wonderful and we did not want to go home! We would definitely visit again!

Yelp
Hotel is neat, the employee's are nice and friendly. This hotel is very quiet, they don't put loud music or that type of party it up hotel. If you want a hotel to be in peace this is it. I don't recommend the pool in the rooms because people barely use them. Bring cash to tip waiters.

Yelp
Had such a nice time, they were super accommodating with my shellfish allergy in ways I've never experienced in the US. Bali bed was amazing and good price, activities were fun, crowd was fun, food was amazing. Also, if you want to snorkel with sea turtles definitely pay for a guide, you really can't see them if you go out alone. **Be advised while it says gratuities included there's definitely an expectation to tip and the staff let's you know that. **

Yelp
Highly recommend this place! Came here to celebrate an Anniversary and was blown away by the service the entire stay. We were greeted as soon as we got in with champagne and water which was nice after a 1.5 hr drive from Cancun airport. The facilities were super clean the entire time and noticed consistent maintenance throughout. As an all inclusive location I do have a high expectation when it comes to food options and they did not disappoint. The staff consistently offered help or to get us something. Our room was amazing, although not exactly the ocean view you could still see great sunrises and sunsets. We became members as the pricing and options of stay were just too good to pass up and we do expect more travel to the areas that they have. I would highly recommend a stay here.

Yelp
Amazing all inclusive hotel!! Pros: -Very friendly staff, clean hotel rooms, good selection of restaurants and daily activities. - They make their drinks strong! The bartenders definitely know their drinks! -Love the 24/7 hour cafe coco. I got water bottles there at 2am. -The resort was clean. Plants and trees were well taken care of. -Lobby area was beautifully decorated and we got champagne when we got there. -Free snorkeling. -A lot of daily events going on at the resort such as Spanish lessons, bike rides, gym classes, water paddle class, etc. -Love the jets in the hotel rooms. -Good Shower pressure. - Some of the restaurants are very good: my favorite is Oceana. I also love the Italian restaurant. Cons: -The downside is the beach can be crowded and hard to find a chair so go early. -Another downside is the service at the dinner restaurants can be slow. We waited for 45 mins for our food at Oceana and the El Patio place. -Very limited breakfast and lunch options. -Room service is very very slow (over 1 hour at times) and the food is not good. The fish ceviche gave me a stomach ache and it tasted funny. -Pool and hot tub closed early. -Expensive resort. Love this resort overall even though it's very expensive!

Yelp
Secrets Akumal was beautiful, it makes you feel you are situated in the middle of the jungle and truly away from reality. Services are personable and impeccable, food from all different restaurants are very nice, with the exception of the Italian restaurant, food there was very so-so. Programs are well curated, and facilities are great. We spent four day at Secrets Akumal and three days at Secrets Moxche. If I had known, I would choose to stay at Secrets Akumal for the entire week. Even though Secrets Moxche is brand new, it was disappointing in many aspects.

Yelp
This place was awesome! I came here for a company retreat for 3 days and there isn't a bad thing I can say about it. The rooms are spectacular, it's all inclusive with 24/7 room service. The staff is friendly accommodating and outgoing. They clean your room nicely and it's very secure. They have tons of pools and even a sports bar hut. They have 7 different restaurants at the resort and the hibachi is a standout as well as the seafood. The main pool has a swim up bar which is fun, the beach is very nice and we all know it takes a day or two to learn the grounds and find your way around but I would say that there could be some more signs to direct you where to go but by the second day I was surely able to figure it out. They have grass tennis courts, volleyball and activities going all day. You hardly ever do not have a drink and there is always someone asking to help. The concierge in each building is very helpful and goes out of his way. Tipping goes a long way when you are needing something urgent at a crowded bar or some tables put together so I always carried around some greenbacks to get what I want when I want. Cheers secrets

Yelp
OMG I'm in love with this resort. It was exactly what I needed. Now I do have some cons to list but I still give this place over all 5 stars. So I not too long got back and it was exactly what I wanted. Relaxing. They were abouut 30% capacity. We didnt have to wait to be seated at any restaurant except 1. The asian restaurant was completely booked so plz reserve there as soon you reach. The beach was clean. Had no problem finding chairs. There was no night life honestly but we created our own. The food was yummy. I didn't get sick not one time which is a norm for me when I eat resort food. The drinks were not premium but we did upgrade and got moet at one of the fire shows. That allowed us to sit all the way in the front. We also paid extra for a seafood dinner that was absolutely delicious. lawd!! The pool was pretty empty. Few times we were the only ones in it. We rented a small private boat to check out a really cool lagoon. Honestly secrets knows how to treat their guests. Our room had a private pool view which wasn't the greatest view but I appreciated the balcony size. There was a big jacuzzi in the room thst gave some trouble but eventually served its purpose. Listen to me, this place is beautiful. Def not a party resort but super romantic and relaxing. Oh the spa was a must. **Standing ovation

Yelp
On vacation for a week at Secrets Akumal. This was my second Secrets Vacation and they never disappoint. Every single employee goes out of their way to make your vacation a special one. Each employee works very hard keeping the property in tip top shape, cleaning leftover food, used towels, sweeping, etc. One can only imaging the amount of thought that goes into running the property. I want to specially thank these people who took the extra step, the extra smile to make my vacation so very special.
