We were really excited for our group stay at the resort, but it didn’t live up to expectations. Things started off rocky when we didn’t get the room we’d booked and were put in a downgraded room on the family side of the resort. To make it worse, no one gave us directions, so we wandered around this confusing maze of hallways for a while, trying to figure out where we were going. The elevators didn’t even go to all the floors, which just added to the frustration.
When we finally found our room, it wasn’t great. There were spills on the floor, parts of the room were falling apart, and it smelled like mold. The hot water barely worked, and the water pressure was almost nonexistent. On top of that, the shower didn’t drain properly, which was a problem many of us in our group experienced.
Speaking of showers, one of our guests actually had a chunk of her toe taken off by the shower door in her room, which was alarming and definitely not something you expect at a resort. The whole situation left us pretty uneasy about the overall quality and safety.
The resort is massive, and getting from the room to the pools or restaurants was exhausting. The sheer distance you have to walk around the property was overwhelming, and with the elevators out of order, it felt like a workout just to get anywhere.
The service was another disappointment. Some of the staff were friendly, but most didn’t seem interested in helping. Instead, they were more focused on trying to sell us timeshares or upsell room upgrades, with prices that varied depending on who you talked to. We also noticed there wasn’t much personalized service—waiters seemed irritated whenever we needed something.
There were multiple safety issues. My girlfriend tripped over poorly maintained areas, and the infinity pools weren’t working, which was a huge letdown. The waterfall at the spa wasn’t running either when we visited, which only added to the sense that things weren’t well maintained.
The food was a bit of a mixed bag. Most of it was really good, but a few meals were disappointing. The mixed drinks, though, were pretty bad almost every time. It’s surprising for a resort trying to be high-end.
The resort did try to make things right by offering us a complimentary 25-minute massage on our last day, which was a nice gesture, but it didn’t make up for all the issues we dealt with.
In the end, this place is trying hard to be something it’s not. It wants to be a luxury resort, but it just doesn’t hit the mark. From safety concerns to service issues, there’s a lot that needs improvement. For the price, we expected a lot more. If they can fix these things, it might be worth it, but right now, I’d recommend looking elsewhere for a relaxing getaway.
