See's opened a new store in Kirkland!!! It is the third week of their soft opening. Full confession that I am sentimental for See's. I grew up with this company. My middle school and high school years were filled with fundraisers using See's candy sticks and an occasional splurge for the gold-wrap lollipops. I bought them by the boxes for school. To this day, I can't walk by a See's without walking in, which is dangerous. Neither their Bellevue nor their Lynnwood store is at a "walk-by" location for me, and their downtown Seattle store has since closed due to pandemic and crime. My jaw literally dropped when I was doing errands in Kirkland Totem Lake Village and saw the store. To be honest, I thought, "I'm so screwed." LOL!!
The location at Totem Lake Village (east of 405) is near Ross, next to the pet store. The interior is wonderfully sunny with vintage photos on the wall. The colors are adorable right now due to Easter packaging and St. Patrick's Day specials, too. The two ladies working there today were just the sweetest, greeting customers with cheerful salutations, and as always, offering a sample.
Their candies are sold individually by ordering at the case (sold by weight), or you can choose packages. I have a standard order of a dark chocolate scotchmallow (dark chocolate covering marshmallow and butter caramel) and a Nut & Chew bar. Today, my eyes caught sight of a box of Dark Mint Scotchmallow - peppermint marshmallow & chocolate butter caramel covered in rich dark chocolate - a St. Patrick's Day special. There were only three boxes left. I caved and bought one of the three.
Ful disclosure that I find many of the candies to be quite sweet. I stick with a select few covered in dark chocolate. The ones I like are very, very good.
