Şehzade Cağ Kebap

As someone who regularly goes out to eat at restaurants for food, it takes something special to truly stand out—and Şehzade Cağ Kebap did exactly that. I visited around 8:30 pm and from the moment we arrived, the experience was smooth, welcoming, and well-organized. We were greeted promptly and seated outside without a long wait, despite the restaurant being lively. There were plenty of tables, so you would be giving a table with a short waiting time. The seating was comfortable, and water was already on the table, charged fairly based on what you drink. Service was excellent from the start. Spicy chili sauce, fresh salad, and menus were brought to us almost immediately. The staff were polite, attentive, and genuinely friendly, with a great sense of humour that made the experience even more enjoyable. They even allowed me to take a video of the meat being prepared and placed onto the skewers—something food lovers alike will appreciate. The star of the show, of course, was the cağ kebap. We ordered two skewers, and honestly, I could have eaten many more without hesitation—the flavor was that good. The meat was perfectly cooked, rich, and incredibly satisfying. While the restaurant may be slightly on the pricier side and the portions might not appear large at first, the quality more than justifies it. Everything is halal, and the restaurant truly lives up to its name. Overall, Şehzade Cağ Kebap is absolutely worth a visit and a must-try when in Istanbul for anyone seeking authentic cağ kebap paired with excellent service.

If it were possible to give this establishment 20/10....I would do it without hesitation. Everything is just perfect. The meat...was WOW. The whole food experience was truly amazing ..if not thé highlight of our 2.5 week stay in Istanbul. Flavorful, melt in the mouth meat. All the extras...oh how we loved every bite. The cultural experience was as authentic as you possibly can get. We met the owner...what a lovely and humble kind man. The staff were polite, helpful and very efficient amidst a very busy setting. When we return...it will be our first stop and back and back again. Do yourself a huge favor.....go experience this gem

The döner was extremely expensive and very small. The meat was cut far too thick and was very greasy. The appetizers were extremely bad as well. We received onions with chili twice – completely inedible. There was also a spicy dipping sauce without any bread or wraps to dip into it, and a tasteless “salad” with cucumber and tomato that was swimming in seed oil. We don’t even need to talk about the “baked ayran” or whatever that was – I’ve never seen anything so disgusting. The ayran itself was just as bad: very salty and clearly a cheap, store-bought product. On top of that, the waiters were very unfriendly and the atmosphere was loud and unpleasant. Of course, we didn’t receive a bill at the end. You have no idea what you’re paying for or what you’re getting. A note for the tax authorities: beware of undeclared cash! In short: not recommended.

Hands down the best kebab skewers I had in Turkey, the food was a solid 10/10. The meat skewers were small but fillig and they were flavorful and well seasoned. Unfortunately, the service did not match the quality of the food. The staff seemed disorganized and rude. We were first seated at a four person table, then asked to move because it was “too big,” which felt awkward. At the end, one server repeatedly said that the service charge was not included and strongly hinted for a tip, which felt strange and uncomfortable. Amazing food, but the service experience really needs improvement.

Food is top notch, there is only one main dish sold here, which is the kebab and i can see why. It is absolutely delicious. The restaurant is packed even on a Monday late afternoon which is a testament of the food quality. Even though the restaurant is fully packed, service is great, and food even arrived before we settled down to our seats.

This is so good foodgasm level great that we came back 3 times in a row. I'm currently pregnant and hate lamb but this has absolutely no smell and the taste is absolutely heavenly. Soft, juicy, smoky, even the fat melts in your mouth in an explosion of flavour (the best part!). Usual portion is 2 skewers, but on the 2nd day we were absolutely starving and ordered extra portion hahaha. I'll be dreaming about this for a while now. Small place and super crowded especially during busy lunch hours so if you want a more calm dining experience avoid the hectic hours. Has seating outside, inside downstairs and upstairs. Superb absolutely top class.

First place we ate at for lunch the moment we left our hotel in the morning. The food was really good and deceivingly filling. The chilli / salsa item was really good as well. However, the price increased all the way to 550 TRY per serving, which is a far cry from the previous 270/350/450 pricing just a couple months back.

The kebabs here are truly one of a kind. With the perfect balance of lamb meat and fat, they melt in the mouth effortlessly. For anyone familiar with Peshawari or Afghani cuisine, the taste is strikingly similar to Afghani boti — rich, smoky, and deeply satisfying. The restaurant was bustling with energy during our visit, so we ended up sitting outside. Despite the crowd, the food more than made up for the wait, leaving us with a memorable dining experience.
