A Food and Drink Guide to Tōhoku, Home to Japan’s Best Sake and Wagyu - Eater

"In the summer, residents cool down with reimen, a cold noodle dish similar to North Korean naengmyeon. Seirokaku serves the chewy semitranslucent noodles in a refreshing beef broth, along with house-made kimchi that stains the soup bright red." - La Carmina

I like the cold noodles here the most. Yakiniku is expensive, but the beef tongue is thick and very delicious. I was lining up early. It was crowded with tourists. It's been a visit for the first time in years, but I'm very happy to eat delicious cold noodles! I was very grateful to you for preparing various things such as hot water for children.

For me the cold noodles were ok. My wife ordered the hot noodles which tasted very much like from a packet of Korean instant noodles which she finds it to be very ordinary at best. Didn’t expect to tasted like that in a restaurant. We didn’t try the grilled meat although most other customers were there for it. Service was very friendly and professional though.

The texture of the cold noodles was definitely one of the best I had ever tried. Chewy and fresh. Pear was refreshing. Watermelon was not provided due to the season I visited though. The egg drop soup was particularly nice. I did not like the taste of onion personally, but it tasted good with the soup.

Great reimen....but average meats. I found it a bit more expensive than some other yakiniku places I've been here in Japan. You can request the reimen at different spicy levels, which is nice. Just note - the kimchi is very odd...much different than what I am used to; it was a bit more sweeter and less spicy. They have an English menu if requested. They also don't take any reservations during the weekends or holidays, but due to the massive seatings inside the turn over is quite quick. If you do come...you will have to write down your name and party size. They will call you once your table is ready.

A line to restaurant almost always mean it’s a good one, and this one is one of the best! The best thing about the waiting is you write your own name on the waiting list! So you can go back later, and basically not worry about standing in the same place. After about 20 minutes I’ve entered, the waiter was very patient, which was helpful as the menu was only in Japanese and I’ve used a translator here and there to translate stuff (I only know basic-lower intermediate Japanese). I’ve ordered the famous reimen (cold noodles) and the beef sirloin and I wasn’t disappointed! The reimen noodles’ chewiness was perfect, the toppings were sweet and the soup itself was sooo sweet and refreshing! I understood that in summer, also a watermelon accompany the dish however it was Autumn hence it wasn’t available, but was still very sweet and fun! The sirloin was great too! Must not roast the beef too much as it’s getting hot really quickly! Every 5 seconds it must be flipped and moved to prevent it from getting burned. The taste was amazing, so tender and juicy, very recommended. A nice couple who sat next to me also gave me to try Korean style marinated ribs, which were fantastic as well, very oily but perfectly complimented the entire meal. If you’re planning on visiting Morioka please make sure to try out this restaurant!

The signature cold noodles was great! At the first sight i thought it was weird with a slide of water melon on top of spicy noodles (!) but it tasted good after all. I also ordered some bbq beef tongue and blade, they’re good too but not as surprising as the cold noodles!

A must visit restaurant when you are in Morioka! Went here for the Reimen (cold noodle) and it was great! it is refreshing and unique, the taste is slightly sweet sour and spicy (might not sound appealing, but surprisingly they compliment each other pretty well) and it comes with a slice of very sweet pear (the staff said that during winter it come with pear and during summer it come with watermelon) And we also ordered a karubi and rosu beef as a side, but surprisingly the beef are really good! like REALLY good! even the lean beef (karubi) is very tender, juicy and very flavourful!
