Yelp
Yama-chan is a chain restaurant that is found all around Nagoya, but even so, I just cannot get enough of their Tebasaki chicken...
The first time I went to a Yama-chan, I was with a large group, and we ordered the course menu. Got a ton of good food such as:
-tebasaki chicken: such nice spice on what look like chicken wings. Nice and crisp outside too
-edamame: pretty standard
-salad: also pretty standard
-chicken skewers: yummy
-shrimp chips: puffy and shrimp-tasting (duh! haha)
-beef innards (I think?) in miso: interesting chewy texture, but good
-miso katsu sticks/kushiyaki: one of my favorites next to tebasaki
-sushi: by this time we were already pretty full, but nice to have rice
-cake: fluffy and light, which was nice after the meal
The thing is, Yama-chan was a bit inflexible as to our group number. We had reserved for 20, but 15 showed, but still had to pay for 20, and they brought out 20 servings...that wasn't very cool.
The second time at Yama-chan, we got tebasaki, miso katsu sticks, fried rice (a nice amount of spice, but a bit pricey for fried rice...), salad, and soy sauce garlic karaage (excellent taste - would recommend). Overall, a good meal, and nice to go with friends to split things family style!
