After a disappointing dinner at a nearby restaurant, I was ready to call it a night and head home. On the way, the brightly lit sign of this restaurant caught my eye. Their reputation preceded them, and I hoped a quick stop for a drink might redeem the evening.
When I asked for a seat at the bar, the hostess instead offered a cozy table by the window. The gesture, coupled with the welcoming hospitality and relaxed atmosphere, persuaded me to stay longer—and soon I found myself ordering a series of dishes and drinks.
The king crab, cauliflower with truffle, beef tartare, tuna tartare, persimmon and goat cheese salad, kalduny, foie gras, and risotto were all superb. Each dish demonstrated the kitchen’s remarkable understanding of how individual ingredients can complement one another—every element allowed to express its own character while blending seamlessly into a balanced and harmonious whole.
Desserts continued this symphony of flavors. The panna cotta, persimmon with ice cream, and chocolate fondant were outstanding. The panna cotta, paired with sorrel, sour ice cream, and tarragon curd, was particularly impressive—each component distinct, yet together creating an unexpected and delightful unity.
Not to be outdone by the kitchen, the bar delivered its own artistry. Cocktails such as Strawberry Harmony, Forest Essence, Supreme, and Wax Negroni were as inventive as they were delicious.
Prices were entirely reasonable for a restaurant of this caliber, and the service deserved its own praise—attentive, gracious, and intuitive. A place that has not only restored faith in the evening but earned repeat visits without question.
