Google
Best Chicago style IN OC! I tried the peppy pizza with riacata cheese, goat cheese and made it Chicago style ($5 extra). I would definitely recommend their Chicago style pizzas, personally best item on their menu. Paid $44 for a large pizza that I added custom things to. Honestly was very worth the price and it filled me so I wasn't hesitant about the price. Would definitely for special occasions or unless you want an amazing pizza!

I tried pasta, wings, Chicago-style pizza, and personal cheese pizza. All the food is carbs floating in tomato sauce. Maybe it's OK as a bar snack, but I would not visit Selma for the food.

We moved away from OC 5 years ago. Selma's was always our favorite pizza place when we lived here so when visiting, we had to go for dinner. You know how you have great memories of places when you move away only to be disappointed when you finally go back? Well, I am happy to say that was not the case here. It was even better than we remembered. It was a busy Friday night but we were able to sit at the bar. Service was fast and the pizza and beer were amazing. Highly recommended!

The food was good, but it wasn't busy and our server seemed motivated but inexperienced. I enjoyed my gluten free pizza, attention was taken to my allergy (celiac) and there was plenty of sausage, but it was very light on cheese. I don't need lots of cheese, but there were lots of spots without any cheese. My husband enjoyed his deep dish pizza, but he was annoyed that when his iced tea was dropped off, there was no sweetener. This isn't a fancy establishment, so there really is no reason not to just keep the sweetener caddy on the table at all times. My husband is Southern and likes polite phrasing, and he found it amusing that the server offered a flavored tea or "plain". 4 stars because the gluten prevention protocols must have worked, because I feel well.

Great food, great staff and great place to have a Happy Dad and watch games with friends and family.

Google
First time at Selma’s It was kind of busy but not overcrowded. There’s a cute little fire pit going with comfy bench seats along with family style seating along with high tables and chairs and booth style seating too Super cool to see Casey and Bob jamming out with some great tunes ♥️🎸 I ordered some chicken tenders (can’t go wrong with those) along with the pretzel bites. The pretzel bites were super friggen good 🥨♥️ I ordered a Cape Cod with Tittos Vodka and that’s that! Late 🎸🤘🏻

Nice pizza place close to ladera ranch. Down side: Chicago pizza had more tomato sauce than cheese and I couldn’t taste any of the veggies cause of it. Excellent beer selection.

Google
We like Selma's a lot. It's one of my sis' favorite places. Pizza, sandwiches, pasta, so lots of choices. It's one of the few pizza places that serves meatball pizza. The one thing I would change about that, and it's me, not them, is to not slice the meatballs except maybe in half. Sliced meatballs kind of defeats the purpose. I also got a meatball sandwich to go and that was more what I had in mind. Meatballs, mushrooms and grilled onions. Hard to go wrong. My nephew had a meatball calzone, my niece a meatball on sourdough, which is what I got for next day lunch.. Soon as I said "meatball" it triggered a response. Everyone wanted a slice of meatball pizza or a sandwich. Mom had Chicken Alfredo, which looked really good and was enough for next day's lunch. They have a kid's menu, so my little nephew enjoyed a cheese pizza. It was my sis' birthday, so she got a nice dish of ice cream with a candle. It was crowded but I never felt unattended. Our wait person was very good and kept things moving without our feeling rushed. They cooked and served the pizza in the same pan which kept it nice and hot. Portions are nice, plenty of pizza to share out. Mom is in a wheelchair, so it took a bit of maneuvering but was manageable. Handicapped spaces are close, plenty of other parking available. We went on a Friday so lots of people out and about. If you have a large party I suggest you book ahead just to make sure you get a table. If you like pizza and a beer or wine, with a designated driver of course (that would be me) don't hesitate to enjoy a trip to this very nice restaurant. Happy holidays from all of us to all of you!

Yelp
Selma's Pizza - 5 stars I don't even know where to start... this place just feels like home during the holidays. They've gone all out with the decorations: twinkling lights draped across the ceiling, a massive Christmas tree in the corner covered in ornaments that look like little pizza slices (adorable), garland everywhere, and classic holiday tunes playing just loud enough to put you in the spirit without drowning out conversation. The vibe tonight was pure magic. The dining room was packed with locals catching up, laughing, kids running around in Santa hats--it honestly felt like one big community holiday party. The staff were absolute sweethearts: hustling with smiles on their faces, checking in on tables, cracking jokes, and somehow making everyone feel like a regular even if it was their first time. Food was spot-on as always. We got the classic pepperoni and red onion pizza. Crust has that ideal chew, sauce is bright and balanced, and they don't skimp on cheese. Everything came out hot and fast even though they were slammed. The cherry on top? Santa himself showed up! The staff arranged for him to swing by, take photos with kids (and plenty of adults who weren't shy). My wife was over the moon, and yeah... I got my picture with Santa too. No judgment. Selma's isn't just serving pizza right now--they're serving holiday joy. Great food, incredible people, and that warm, small-town feeling you can't fake. If you're anywhere nearby, go. Bring your family, bring your friends, bring your holiday spirit. You'll leave full and happy. Already counting down the days until we go back. Cheri, Kiara, Wyatt and crew have made this place a local watering hole!

Yelp
Selma's Chicago Pizzeria & Tap Room delivers more than just deep-dish comfort--it offers a genuinely thoughtful dining experience. As someone with food sensitivities, I was impressed by how accommodating the staff was. I ordered a side salad with my meal, and it had garbanzo beans (which I genuinely do not like). I was told that the salad would be removed from the bill. I chose to make it a salad to go, which provided an opportunity to excel. The salad had crisp greens, fresh toppings, and the dressing served on the side so I could shake it up myself. The salad was refrigerated until I left without me asking. It is a small touch, but it made a significant difference. Such a difference, it prompted me to mention it. And then there's Zack. Friendly, attentive, and effortlessly cool, he made me feel like a regular from the moment he greeted us. The kind of guy you want to know on a first-name basis--not just because he's great at his profession, but because he makes the whole place feel more welcoming. Selma's isn't just about pizza--it's about people like Zack who care. I will be back. For the record, I am a real person not an algorithm review creating bot. I formulated these words, not A.I. I am accessible for any dialog regarding this review. My arithmetic is (714) 4 zero 4 - two five 6 6. My moniker is Theronheit. I write real reviews based on my real-life experiences.

Yelp
What great ambiance and service for the holiday season! Great comfort food and beer to boot!

Yelp
This Chicago style pizza is so good I thought I was transported to the Windy City. Hey wait, is that Lake Michigan? Jokes aside, this is fantastic pizza. The crust was perfect - nice doughy texture and great with sauce. The sauce has a slight spice to it as well, which I thought was a good touch. The cheese and toppings wasn't quite piled on they do in Chicago but that's a good thing. Sometimes that can be overwhelming. The hostess was super nice and friendly too which is rare.

Yelp
HANDS DOWN THE BEST PIZZA IN SOUTH OC! Not only does this place have a calm fun ambiance inside; however, they also have amazing service and a huge menu. Their Ladera Lemonade is delicious, 10/10. Their beer menu is also amazing. They have something for everyone. The pizza is so flavorful and makes every other pizza just lose its flare. The salads are also super fresh and tasty. I highly recommend this place for many occasions whether it be a date night or a family outing.

Yelp
Selma's Chicago Pizza & Taproom never disappoints! I sat at the bar today and was taken care of by Benjamin. Hands down some of the best service I've had in a while. Friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. The beer? Ice cold and perfect. The lunch special personal pizza might be small in size, but it's mighty in flavor, and so good with the pepperoni and sausage for $0.95 each. Look at that cheese pull! Absolutely delicious. I'll definitely be back soon to try more of the menu!

Yelp
I love Chicago Pizza Gino's , Portillo's etc. So I tried Selma First time , last month, I was disappointed. Nothing "Chicago " about it. So I thought maybe I ordered the wrong kind. Yesterday I ordered the medium tomato pizza. The bottom crust was raw and doughy. The side crust was hard . The topping had no flavor. BJ's is not a favorite , but at least they do not label their deep dish as Chicago
google avatar

Angie N.

Yelp
Wyatt was very communicative and helpful when setting up a kid tour. They did a great job and pizza was delicious as always! Thanks Selma's!

Yelp
This location is poor in consistency. Their management does not prioritize customer service and that was made clear tonight. After getting home with our takeout order, I realized they failed to put the chicken on my $18 Santa Fe Chicken Salad. I understand mistakes happen, but when I called to address the mistake with the manager to see what could be done, I was told, after being placed on hold, 'that the manager was too busy to come to the phone' (at 8:30pm and after having seen an empty dining room at order pickup) and 'that I needed to call back in 15 or 20 minutes'. This clearly shows where the management places the customer......The bottom of the list - even after a poor service on their part.

Terry R.

Yelp
Ordered a Chicago style cheese pizza. Pizza came with almost zero cheese. Not happy and hardly worth the $44 cost.

Kate A.

Yelp
We did a homeschool activity at Selma's in Ladera Ranch and it was amazing! The staff was awesome. The kids had a great time!! They toured the kitchen, made their own pizzas and practiced being a server while the pizzas cooked! They had drinks and pizza for lunch which topped off the morning. My boys are 3rd and 5th grade and both had a great time! They are excited to go back.

Yelp
Very good deep dish pizza. Have the best non-dairy cheese around. All the servers are very pleasant and helpful.

Lesley W.

Yelp
Yet another poor experience at Selma's. The food is always good. However, there always seems to be chaos, delays and opportunities with communication. It doesn't matter if it's sit down or ordering take out. This is leadership. The management should be more present, support their team to understand what the bottlenecks are. It's frustrating as a customer, but as important, is the impact on the team.

Yelp
First time coming here. Food was great. I had the ceasar salad, wings and deep dish pizza. Everything was amazing especially the friendliest most attentive bartender/server I've ever met. Ella.

Marla N.

Yelp
The second time I've gotten a glass of old wine. Bar tender opened a new bottle, apologized and "said he'd give us a 9 oz pour for a 6 oz price, but lied. On the bill he charged the 9 oz price. Why is it so hard to date your wine? Try color coding, or labels. If you don't care, let me know. There are other options.

Yelp
Selma's made a serious impression on me. You can tell they're putting real heart and skill into everything they do. What really stood out was how much they've elevated the whole experience. This isn't just your average pie. The flavors are bold and well-balanced, with toppings that feel thoughtfully chosen to bring out the best in each bite. It's clear the kitchen is pushing to impress, and they succeed. On the drink side, they're just as dialed in. Their craft beer selection is sharp, with plenty of local choices, and the cocktails I tried were creative and well-executed. It's obvious the bar team knows their stuff and wants you to have a memorable experience. The service matched the food and drinks--friendly, attentive, and genuinely proud of what they're offering. They were happy to walk me through the menu and make recommendations, which added a personal touch I appreciated. This is a place that's working hard to raise the bar, and I respect that. If you're around Ladera Ranch and want pizza and drinks with real flavor and passion behind them, Selma's should be on your list. --Rick

Yelp
Bummer their food has gone down hill. I've tried a few dishes that were my goto; Wings seem fatter sauce is not the same. Cauliflower crust pizza which was a goto staple seems off. Last couple visits. Im sure is some cost cutting change but sucks.

Yelp
It was my first time ordering here and I have to agree with the most recent review preceding mine, by Andrew. I was surprised by the quality of the food here. I eat all over the place north oc south oc central, San Diego Los Angeles central cali all the up to Seattle like I have dined up and down the coast and I can agree that you people are lucky to have this restaurant here. This place is a must try.

Whitney F.

Yelp
My son attended a pizza tour here with a local homeschool co-op. The staff was friendly, patient with the chaos and made it really fun! My son loved it and his pizza!

Yelp

Yelp
Yum! Yum! Yummy! I wanted to order everything on the menu! I thought they only had pizza but they have so much more! The food was so good! My service professional was great! She knew everything about the menu and had great recommendations! Loved the atmosphere!

Kathryn D.

Yelp
We had Selma's cater my 30th birthday party and it was a hit! They set up a live pizza-making station with fresh ingredients, brought all the toppings and provided apps (meatballs and bruschetta), and salads (Caesar and Italian chopped). The team was flexible, fun, and made the whole experience seamless. Guests loved it and the food was delicious - highly recommend!
google avatar

Meleny J.

Yelp
Selma's has the best chicken wings on the planet! Order them bone in double baked with extra hot buffalo sauce on the side. Their sauce is so unique but sooo delicious.
google avatar

Cheyenne P.

Yelp
We ordered the bruschetta favorita and Navy Pier scampi with house salad. The pastas came with delicious garlic bread. Everything was tasty. There was a good amount of shrimp in my scampi pasta and it was well seasoned. The bruschetta pasta was made with fusilli, tomatoes, garlic, Parmesan cheese in an Alfredo sauce. We enjoyed everything and will order from here again.

Yelp
We've eaten here probably about 10 times over the past few years. Atmosphere is fun and relaxed, food is always great, and the location is convenient to our house. The only downside is we consistently get horrible service from every bartender we've encountered. Never greeted upon sitting, ignored for several minutes before being acknowledged at all, and surprisingly rude service throughout every experience. For the love of god please train your bartenders better or replace them with people who are happy to be there!

Marissa D.

Yelp
Worse customer service ever! A co worker and i went there for lunch only to leave empty handed and treated like we were nothing! We sat there for 20 minutes and not a single waiter came by to check on us! The waiter went around checking on everyone else except us! Not even a simple sorry for the waiter went around we just got up and left! I have been to this location so many times with amazing customer service and without incidents, however i am beyond disappointed with how i was treated today!!
google avatar

Bob S.

Yelp
I love this place very much because the pizza here is the most delicious in town, the service, was amazing, and the ambiance was really, neat.
google avatar

Philip W.

Yelp
Cold, soggy boneless wings that were all breading and zero chicken! Asked for deep dish pizza, crispy extra pepperoni. Came out undercooked and they forgot to add pepperoni. Returned the pizza , they flout threw some more pepperoni on and put in over for maybe a few minutes, end up with some baked cooked pepperoni and some soggy! Give this place a few fry's and will not be back. Too many kids/ employees busy chattering and on their phones! No mas Selmas for me!
google avatar

Andrew B.

Yelp
How is this place only a 3.8 on Yelp?! I've been coming here for years and have never been disappointed. They have a Chicago style deep dish pizza that is to die for. I've had pizza in Chicago and this place still is my top spot for a deep dish. The sauce, the crust, the garlicky goodness, it's all just absolute perfection. Everyone in Ladera/MV should be grateful we have such a high quality joint nearby!
google avatar

C F.

Yelp
Pizzas are generally pretty good here consistently. Always do takeout so can't comment on service or atmosphere.

Yelp
Killer calamari appetizer and plenty for two! It was lightly breaded and the calamari was tender and flavorful. There was crushed garlic sprinkled on top but it was so mild, we didn't realize it was there until we had finished half through appetizer! I am only admitting this because of the super mild flavor. The marinara sauce struck the right balance of tomato and spice. It was advertised as spicy but I was pleased it wasn't. The sauce for the pizza had lots of flavor; too much so for our taste. Garlic, oregano, and maybe fennel overwhelmed the tomatoey goodness. Based on the menu description, we asked if we could sample just the pizza sauce. They were so gracious and brought enough to taste. Again, we felt the complex sauce would mask the rest of the pizza. I will add plenty of people were happily chowing down on the deep dish pizza so it was our particular taste; certainly not a criticism. They use a lot of garlic here, not sure it is fresh rather than reconstituted. I hope the whisper of garlic on the calamari was the exception. Thank you, Yelpers, for helping us find a great place for a delicious snack!

Renee C.

Yelp
The rating is for the service, the host was so diligent and helping me which items I could order due to a few allergy. I really appreciated it. When it comes to the food, wasn't really a fan. And their food has a lot of artificial additives. And I don't plan to come back based on that. But thought I'd give a good rating because of the good service.

Mackenna C.

Yelp
I love coming here, one of my favorite spots. But we came in today and noticed a bartender/manager was coughing over everything, sniffling, touching her nose as well without washing hands. Proceeding to make cocktails/hand out food/checks. I was very skeptical on even eating here tonight after witnessing this, so we ended up leaving immediately. I understand some of us need to come into work because we have bills to pay, but that is so unacceptable and very disgusting. I hope there can be a team meeting about sanitation of some sort! Hopefully next time we come back it'll be better. Again, love this place but definitely needed to note this.

Yelp
I just celebrated by 40th bday at Selama's with 60+ friends and family from near and far. Everyone had a wonderful time. The service was exceptional, food was delicious, and atmosphere was exactly what I had in mind. The management staff was so accommodating to our needs and special requests. This has always been a special place to me and I'm so glad we were able to share it with others. From family meals, to sports events to semi-private parties, these folks know how to serve great food and take care of their guests.

MAtthew C.

Yelp
Careful. They actually add drinks to your bill. When you dispute the bill they automatically take it off.

Yelp
If you are seeking Authentic Chicago style pizza without having to get on a plane, I've found the place !! Selma's Chicago Pizzeria is the place!!!! I ventured out there and found it by chance. My niece and I decided to have a girls night and ordered everything. Appetizer: with yelp check in: free Garlic Toast. Pizza: Petal to the metal -Large Chicago Deep Dish with extra cheese. Holy mother of god!! Soooooooo good. Soup: Regular Minestrone Soup: hearty, full of veggies, meat, and seasoning on point. I would order this on days it rains and go to town. Soo good. Desserts: Pizouki style fresh hot cookies Peanut butter cookie and chocolate chip cookie, al la mode with vanilla for the win. I have found my people !! The service outstanding. Kaylee you were attentive, kind, always pleasant and smiling. Super helpful with questions and a great server. You made our night !! I would recommend Selma's to everyone!! So much so, we brought back left overs to the house and here were grown adults fighting for the pizzas ! No joke!! That's how good it is!! HIGHLY Recommend going to Selma's for some bomb Chicago pizza. It's not Giradonos but it's a Equal Contender!!

Candace K.

Yelp
Thank you Selma's for the amazing meal you provided the San Juan Hills Football Team. Your pasta and garlic bread were a huge hit with our boys! We love Selma's and thank you for your support

Yelp
A busser named jackson was extremely rude. I sat at a table when he wasnt finished cleaning the it and told me to get up he rolled his eyes and half assed the cleaning then i asked what his problem was and said i wasnt done yet with a sassy attitude so i just left.

Yelp
Walk in almost any evening of the week and you'll find a bustling atmosphere of waitresses speed walking around the restaurant with stacks of plates balanced on each hand; delivering hot meals and clearing out freshly polished off plates. Sounds of guests chattering reverberate throughout. A small gathering ensues at the front desk; some waiting to be seated, others waiting for their food order to pick up. This is Selma's, our neighborhood restaurant where busy is an understatement. But she more than makes up for it with delicious food, warm hospitality, and plenty of beer. THE FOODS | Italian cuisine. I ordered... - Garlic Cheese Bread | A bit salty for my taste, but I love the melted mozzarella yum cheese and garlic spread. The bread is soft & chewy. Served with marinara sauce. If you check into Selma's through Yelp, you can get garlic cheese bread for free. Alas, I didn't find out until after the fact. - Lasagna of Love | Savory is the word. Creamy, rich ricotta cheese layered in between lasagna sheets and submerged in meaty marinara sauce. A thick layer of gooey mozzarella cheese sits on top. It comes with a side of soft garlic bread. This is my regular order at Selma's and I can't break away from it. - Sam-Zone (Large) | They use their pizza dough and stuff it with mozzarella cheese, ricotta cheese, marinara sauce, sausages (add-on, paid $1.95 extra), pepperoni (add-on, paid $1.95 extra), and red onions (add-on, paid $1.95 extra). Thin sheets of provolone cheese are melted on top. It's one of the best calzones I've had in awhile. THE SELMA'S FEELS | The vibe reminds me of the old sitcom, Cheers, with wooden furniture, brick layered walls, and comfortable leather bar seats. And like Cheers, there is a cozy familiarity where everybody knows your name. Kick back with one of their many beers on tap and watch the game, socialize, and make new friends. THE PARKING SITUATION | Parking is ridonk in this shopping plaza. I'm not saying you can't find an open space, it just won't be close to the restaurant. There's a few nearby parking spaces dedicated to those picking up food. THE ORDERING LOGISTICS | I ordered through UberEats and picked it up at the restaurant.

Yelp
We ordered the deep dish Maui wowie, spaghettini with meat sauce, cheese pizza, basket of fries and fried cheese app. Everything was delicious! Best spaghetti and garlic bread I've ever had! The best part of our experience was our server Jadyn. She is kind, efficient, helpful and ensured everything was perfect. Selma's also has a few games and claw machines for the kids! We usually do takeout from here, but we will only dine in now :)
google avatar

Sabrina C.

Yelp
We had such an amazing time making pizzas with all of the kids. The guys were really interactive and kept this experience so fun! My girls really enjoyed making their pizza, plus it was deep dish. We had about 20 kids and it was so well organized!! Highly recommend this place, the food is delicious.

Yelp
Eric is phenomenal! We had such a great time learning about pizza and the pizza kitchen at Selma's! Thank you for such a magical experience for our homeschool co-op! And the food was amazing!

Yelp
Great go to spot for a good, bountiful and reasonably priced meal. This is my go to place for a satisfying bowl of spaghetti and meatballs.. also my go to place for after "work recovery" when it's been too busy to have lunch. . The menu is enormous so you'll spend a lot of time asking questions and trying to figure out what you're going to eat. If you're trying to refrain from eating a lot of pasta, they have lots of salads. I've been there multiple times and meals and I'm going to continue to explore the menu. So far I've just had several pasta dishes which I've included in this post with the photos. I haven't tried the pizza, but I'm sold on the pastas. haven't tried the salad yet because of the cold weather, I'm making excuse to eat more pasta. . When it warms up a little, then I'll start moving towards the salads. The service is friendly, and I was impressed that the server remembered me and my mom from just a couple of visits. That is what makes it even more special. She even pointed out all the things that I tried and encourage me to try other things I like that.

Tara A.

Yelp
Our favorite local eatery. Love all their food and the ambiance is easy going and laid back. We come here a few times a month. Great family place. And patio is dog friendly.
google avatar

Yelp
Food and atmosphere is fantastic! My young daughters love going here. A weekly destination
google avatar

Brenda J.

Yelp
We've ordered twice from here in the last week. The pizza is so delicious and they offer so many yummy things. Fried Ravioli, Fried Mozzarella,Chicken wings, garlic bread, Spinach Artichoke dip and the Mushrooms...all are outstanding!!!!! We'll definitely be ordering from here a lot!!!!
google avatar

Virgil E.

Yelp
We totally enjoy all the locations. As a happy SoCal microbrewery fan, we just scan the wall for the beer on tap! A super selection. I'm so happy with the Belgian beer on tap. Unfortunately there are so many other good beers it's no wonder that I order something else. The food. We of course come here to eat. Check out the menu, not just a pizzeria. We do agree with the menu, you will love the wings, the sauces and the dip that you can choose. While it's Chicago style the do offer thin crust. Again great selection and a place for family or adults to hang out at the bar side. Enjoy you meal and watch sports games or listen to music

Yelp
We were over by Mission Mall and afterwards I had a craving for pizza and kids were turtles because they usually get some sort of pasta dish. Wife happened upon Selma's on Yelp and thought we never had Chicago style so we have it a try. Located in a little neighborhood cemetery in Ladera Ranch it was literally. 5 miles away from the mall. Seating was quick and the hostess was pleasant. Just an FYI if you check you get complementary cheesy bread and it's REALLY good. Wife and I ordered Chicago style pizza with pepperoni, jalapenos mushrooms. Or two girls got fettuccine Alfredo and son got chicken pesto sandwich with fries. Everything came out pretty quick and everything tastes amazing. We ordered a medium and I only managed to put away two slices and I was stuffed. Probably because of the salad I had and some of the cheesy bread but there was taken home to enjoy later! If you've never had Chicago style pizza definitely give Selma's in Ladera Ranch a try, prices are pretty reasonable in today's money so I can't complain.

Stephanie G.

Yelp
Our waitress must have been dumb because that's the only reason i can think of for her not to take our order. She brought our drinks asked if we wanted appetizers we said no and she left. Usually at that point we would get our order taken. Nope. The only time she came back was to ask if we were ok. Like yeah the beers and water we had were the only thing we wanted. When we finally did get to order after maybe 30 mins The jumbo cheese ravioli was awful and so was the presentation. Drowning in alfredo sauce that tasted like it was from a jar.
