Neighborhood bar offering a selection of beers & a menu of typical comfort food options.
"If you don’t mind standing and being snug next to your neighbor, this is your place. Come game day, there will likely be a line forming at the side entrance on Selwyn Ave. For Selwyn loyalists here to stay and watch the game, the pub is the destination, not the stadium. Everyone is eager for its infamous vodka Transfusions, which juxtapose the increasingly craft cocktail scene in the city. With one glance at Selwyn on a Sunday, it’s obvious there’s still a niche for some down-home drinking. The outdoor patio is a mighty display of locals — college kids, yuppies, older chaps who’ve been drinking beer at this Myers Park neighborhood establishment since 1990. It wouldn’t be a shock to see a former Panthers player or two grabbing a drink here, as well. As for food, order one of the pizzas or sneak out for a sandwich next door at longtime Charlotte specialty grocer, Reid's Fine Foods." - Kayleigh Ruller
"Selwyn Avenue Pub is arguably the most notorious sports bar in Charlotte — an institution almost as infamous as their various “transfusions” — vodka drinks with grape juice and ginger ale or electric blue Powerade. To secure a table, the fratty and football-obsessed go early and find a spot at one of the few tables hours before kickoff. The baseball team from Queens University will likely be the boys serving the greasy food — Nashville hot chicken and fries, French dip hoagies, and the loaded meat and veggie pizzas. Selwyn is where everyone runs into everyone — from local professional athletes to old friends and lovers from high school and college. It’s all totally fine because everyone’s having a boozy, transfusion time." - Kayleigh Ruller
"Thirty years ago, Jim Foster and his father converted an old house into a pub. They knocked out walls and built a large patio, then added TVs outside on that patio. Selwyn Pub is now a Charlotte institution, one known for its homey, welcoming feel and relaxed atmosphere. Today, Foster says the bar is all about “sipping and socializing, like a tailgate party.” It's also been widely reported that Michael Jordan is a fan of Selwyn's pizza." - Lauren Levine
