I am absolutely disgusted and heartbroken by how little compassion and accountability I’ve received while trying to find my missing dog. All I wanted was information and help, yet both the local shelter and the county offices completely refused to assist. I wasn’t asking for money, special treatment, or miracles — just basic human decency and answers.
My dog is not “just an animal” — he is family. Losing him has been devastating enough, but being ignored, dismissed, and passed around by the very people who are supposed to help has made this nightmare even worse.
I contacted the shelter, the county, and even reached out to my senator’s office, hoping someone would care enough to offer real guidance or at least point me in the right direction. Instead, I got silence, excuses, and indifference.
This is unacceptable. No one should have to beg for help when their loved one is missing — especially from agencies funded by taxpayers and claiming to protect animals and the community.
If this is how they respond when a dog goes missing, imagine how they handle cases involving missing people. That thought alone is terrifying. It shows how broken the system has become — cold, careless, and disconnected from the people it’s supposed to serve.
I will not stop speaking up until someone takes responsibility. People deserve to be heard, and animals deserve to be treated as more than paperwork or statistics.
Shame on every office and agency that looked away when compassion and action were needed most.
