The 38 Best Kuala Lumpur Restaurants | Eater

"Instead of its formal name, diners fondly refer to this restaurant as “Under the Klang Bridge Bak Kut Teh,” referring to the nearby bridge commonly used as a landmark to find the place. It’s worth seeking out, too. Since 1979, the restaurant has been serving bak kut teh, a dish popular across Singapore and Malaysia in which pork ribs are cooked in a broth with such herbs as dong quai (aka “female ginseng”), star anise, and cinnamon, accompanied by a fragrant bowl of rice or you char kway (strips of fried dough). One of the famous Bak Kut Teh spots in Klang, best known as ‘Under the Bridge BKT’. After many years, the environment has slightly improved, but the soup remains bland with just a salty taste. The meat is average, and overall food quality is below expectations.

Known to many as "under the bridge bak kut teh", this place has been around for a long time and is my go to for Klang style bak kut teh. Specific cuts in individual bowls of just pure pork and soup/ broth. It was such a treat to enjoy my bak kut teh where the flavours were exactly how I remembered them to be. Highlights & tips: - My personal preference is the traditional Klang style bak kut teh with the rich, herbal and savoury soup that has good depth of flavour. The meat cut type can be chosen base on preference (no difference in pricing). - You can choose the different types of teas you may like. Each of them have different price points. The good thing bout this place is they have outlets of hot water taps for self service of hot water top ups as much as you would like. Definitely more efficient & safer than decades long tradition of continuous boiling of hot water on individual burners on gas tanks. They also have small little teacups for the tea to be poured in. My go to tea type for bak kut teh is known as "king of teas" or "cha wong". - Orders and payments are made at the table you are seated at. With cash payments, they will bring the change back to you. - It is possible to get top up soup but it did appear that they may be limiting the number of times for top up soups available for customers. - The rice that is served is known as oily rice or "yao faan". It is fragrant with shallot oil mixed into the rice. - Noticeably, they have expanded their menu to cater for more KL style bak kut teh like claypot bak kut teh and side dishes like braised chicken feet and vegetables. - Staff are pretty alright and is generally helpful. I highly recommend this bak kut teh restaurant as each time I have been over the years has been a joy to eat.

I was having a rather high expectations before I decided to go over and have the infamous Klang Bak Kut Teh. Turns out, it was nothing but disappointment. Soup is bland with only salty taste, meat is average however types of meat are limited(6.30pm). Generally I wouldn’t say anything about a restaurant’s food but for this particular shop, I would highly recommend that you go to another place if you ever plan to have dinner at Klang area. Trust me, it is that bad.

The famous Huat Klang for bak kut teh, best known as “under the bridge bkt”z If you’re a fan of rich, herbal broth and generous cuts of pork, this is the real deal. We ordered a variety of bowls — pork belly, soft and fatty trotters, ribs, and even some braised chicken feet. Each bowl came piping hot with that signature Klang-style herbal broth — dark, aromatic, and full of depth. The meat was tender and flavourful, falling off the bone with just a poke of the spoon. The you tiao (Chinese crullers) were perfect for dipping — crispy on the outside, soaking up the soup like a sponge. And of course, a plate of plain white rice on the side to balance it all out. Highly recommend coming hungry — and maybe with a group, so you can try everything. Suggest to visit early before selection run out.

A well known spot for bak kut teh, do take notes they have night time and day time menu. Food were nice, the soup was slightly moderate for my preference. Meat and others considered as moderate. Still worth to try for those who are curious.

First time there, as high ranking by Google. Good herbal broth comes in the small bowl which is the traditional way of presenting it. Overall good experience for bak kut teh.
