Their food is very tasty. Restaurant is kids friendly. They offer halal menu which is very important for muslims. New owners changed their name to Senor HalalPeno, how sweet! We are very lucky to have such place in Lombard! Thank you Senor!

Zabiha Halal HFSAA Certified I appreciate their authentic and HALAL Mexican food so much. I’m so glad I discovered this place. I keep coming back for their delicious enchiladas and elote. The portion size is very filling and I always have leftovers to take back home. Their staff is very friendly and attentive as well, upkeeping a neat and tidy atmosphere.

Great tacos and the lady working there who took our order was the sweetest. Definitely a great halal spot for chicago. Will come back for more !

Food is ok. Could've been better. The chicken in tacos was very hard looked like it was not fresh n was old. There's not much flavor in anything unless you add hot sauce etc. Service is good the server was respectful n quick. Prices are reasonable. The atmosphere n interior needs to be updated.

Like some of the other reviewers have said, the food is good especially for the inexpensive prices but the service is not the best. You seat yourself and pick up the menus yourself too. No one really greets you when you walk in. I’ve seen some people come in for order pick up and being ignored. Free chips and salsa brought to your table. I got the baby steak burrito ($9.99), super burrito dinner ($13.99), and birria tacos with cheese. When you check out and ask for your bill, make sure you check what was rung up on your bill and ask for confirmation or an itemized receipt. The orders are entered when you ask for the bill and only the total amount is entered on a separate machine to pay. I have been here a previous time where they added extra items to my bill and I had to ask for them to be removed. If it weren’t for the inexpensive prices, I’m not sure if I would come back. They do have a sign that says their food is halal. A lot of people getting to go orders as well. It can get crowded in some weekdays during lunch but typically no wait time.

I have been coming here for 3 years and finally writing a review. This is the place for tacos, I have been to mexico multiple times, been to plenty of other known good taco spots in the US. They just don't compete. I don't know what it is but the flavors here are just punchy in each bite, although the sauces seem generic when added to the taco especially the green guac sauce they make the tacos elevated to a different level and the value proposition of this food is also great. The only thing I wish they could sort out is their service, just one server has been working there this whole time she needs help and they need to open later into the night, tacos are late night food just doesn't make sense.

Authentic Mexican food. Everything on their menu is delicious. Eating taco bell after this is like eating plain rice after eating biryani. I go here everytime I visit Illinois. And their taste has been consistent over the years. I tried birria, chimichanga, fajitas, elotes, tamales, soft tacos, hard tacos quesadillas. Everything was super tasty.

Food was amazing. Atmosphere was awesome - got Latin music playing in the background - Hermano cooking the food - you know it’s gonna smack. Amazing service. They also had those plastic cups and sauce cups that every great restaurant has. Will def come here again. Try their birria tacos - the shredded steak tastes very similar to Indian style Nihari.

Maybe I just ordered the wrong thing, but I ordered the wings... let me tell you... the chickens they used must have been dieting for hot girl summer or something because I tasted the definition of "skin and bone"! There was maybe a sliver of actual meat on the bone (and that's being generous) I just ate one and couldn't stomach the Btw, it's 2:19AM as I write this, so you know I'm losing sleep over this. They should rename the menu item anorexic chicken.

Maaan! I want to love this place to much because I love Mexican food and I only eat halal. This place was good... but, not great. We ordered an array of items, including an assortment of tacos, nachos, Tamales, and a quesadilla. The tacos were the star of the show. In the future, I'd likely just do the tacos and skip out on everything else. They were flavorful and seemingly authentic. The tamales fell flat. Big time. Truth be told, I had never had tamales before, but I know how much my Mexican friends appreciate them. It made me feel like something wasn't right with them. The nachos had delicious ground beef on it. Also, the chips were freshly made.

I'm a SUCKER for Mexican food and when the opportunity for Halal Mexican was there, hubs and I were ready to grab it. My brother recommended this place 15 mins away from O'Hare airport. It was so good. Great portion and tasted fresh! The ladies there were really nice. I was expecting it to look like a dingy place inside but it was actually pretty nice. Great place to take the family.

The owners are super friendly and welcoming. We tried the birria tacos, pazole, and elotes. The tacos were out of this world! Meat was so tender, juicy, and so flavorful! Definitely a guilty pleasure. Pazole (not pictured) was also very good. It was warm and tangy. It had boiled corn and shredded chicken in it which added a nice bite to the soup. Hefty portion for an appetizer. Definitely recommend it. Elotes were buttery and cheesy. The corn was sweet. It was good but my least favorite dish out of the 3.

I finally tried señor jalapeño and it was fantastic. There's plenty of seating and the food is delicious. Their tacos are really yummy and their steak burritos and salsas ended up being my favorite. Staff was very friendly and accommodating, as well. And the food is halal! Such a good experience and definitely adding this restaurant to my list of favorites.

Best asada tacos period. Green salsa is a hit. If it was my last day on earth and I wanted halal street tacos, I am ordering here. When the employee cooks they are good and when the owner cooks they are better. Burria tacos are amazing as well. Chicken is okay, could use a little more seasoning.

Horrible and I don't say that lightly. I hate giving negative reviews to small businesses, but this truly was horrible. The food was under seasoned and poorly cooked. To top it all off it was expensive. Chicken Fajitas - flavorless. Tough chicken. Undercooked rice. Beans were the most edible part. Guacamole - watery and flavorless. I honestly don't know how they did it it was literally liquid. Tortilla chips - tasted like grocery store chips Won't recommend this to anyone. Check out Chicago Style Taco shop if you're looking for good Mexican food in Lombard.

I ordered a taco dinner, 2 steak 1 shrimp and a "Mexican Coke" per their menu. The tacos were alright, nothing to write home about. The beans were either refried then stored with water or idk what because it was soupy gray liquid with some beans popping up occasionally. Rice was pretty much tasteless, no salt..probably frozen before reheating as per texture. But the"Mexican coke" was good! The lady taking orders seemed to not be able to smile if her life depended on it. When asked if we can split the bill she said no they don't do that and I mean she was not too happy of me asking. When the bill came I figured out why... so she can add that 20% gratuity. Customer service like that is something I've NEVER had at any taqueria before and I've been to MANY. I get it, it was 6 of us but had you been nicer and not stereotyped us to the rest of the cheapos that probably walk in there, you would've gotten double that. Horrible experience with both food and service. I think they are more of a catering place than anything and halal taquerias are few and far between so that's likely why this business is still alive. But you will never get my money again.

Señor Jalapeño is a fantastic Mexican restaurant that I highly recommend. The food is outstanding, with fresh and authentic flavors. The service is top-notch, with friendly and knowledgeable staff. The ambiance is lively and inviting, with traditional Mexican decor and upbeat music. Overall, a five-star experience that I can't wait to revisit.

Very taste and filling tacos are full of yummy things. I came in and got my order is super fast and got the food in a couple mins. Very nice people working I sat at one of the high tables and they brought it to me. Asked how I wanted everything and if I wanted anything else added which most places don't do. Love it!!!

The food here was delicious! best part is that they serve zabiha Halal Mexican food. 4 stars because it took us an hour to get our food, since there were only 2 people cooking. Definitely understaffed.

Very friendly customer service and the horchatas are to die for! The burritos are very big and are probably two meals each. Will definitely be returning.

Tried chicken and Birria tacos they were really good. It's great that they are Zabihah halal. They're green sauce was very spicy. Would definitely recommend them.

I'm a huge fan of tacos (who isn't?!), so I can be quite picky in considering what is delicious. Well, this place is and it's halal!! We usually get the shrimp taco dinner plate and steak taco dinner plate. We've also tried the birria tacos. They have different "styles" you can have your tacos made and I usually choose "cilantro and onions" and it's so fresh! I love how I can taste everything because they don't overpower the taco. Also, they don't skimp you--meat/seafood is plentiful. They have a couple of sauces you can choose from on the side (beware: the spicy sauce is good, but actually very spicy!) I usually do pickup but there is seating inside if you'd like to dine in. Try this place if you haven't!

Considering that I've traveled to Mexico plenty of times, i could honestly say this has been the most authentic Mexican food I've had here. So flavorful I could eat it all day. The hot sauces are so authentic and full of flavor. If you haven't been, I urge u to consider coming. You won't be disappointed!

We have been coming here for almost a year. Food is always excellent. All items on the menu are delicious. Tacos, Burrito Steak and Chicken are excellent in taste. Service has always been outstanding. Owner chef always offers something new to try as samples. Prices are very reasonable and the place is very clean. They follow strict CDC guideline for mask. No mask no entry or service

I've wanted to try this place for a while now and I'm so glad I did! The Lombard area has a ton of halal food options but this is definitely one of the best. The food is authentic Mexican and the owner Paul is very enthusiastic and takes pride in his food. The Nachos Locos is a huge appetizer filled with ground beef, nacho cheese, guacamole, sour cream, beans, tomatoes, and more! The Chicken Enchilada was seasoned very well with all the components melted into perfection. I also sampled a variety of Tacos, my favorite of which was the skirt steak. The other meat options included pastor (beef), chorizo (beef), and chicken. I loved all of them but would have liked some more seasoning on the chicken. Finally, you must try the Mexican Flan, it was out of this world! I'll definitely be going back soon.

Everyone was really raving about these tacos so i had to try them. They were regular tacos, not bad but not fantastic either. They forgot my cheese so make sure to check your To-go orders. I think some of these people have never had really great tacos. Either way it was a nice little meal $2.99 per taco. I'm not making plans to go back but if someone offered me a taco from there I'd be open to it.

This is probably a good place if you have low cholesterol...lol. Honestly the foods delicious however the chicken is SO SALTY. I love the fact that it's zabiha but I'd rather take the veggie option if all I can taste is chicken with salt. The staff there was wonderful. The chef and the waiter are sweet people. Recommend getting the platter so you get to try everything!! :)

I love Señor Jalapeño. I'm a sucker for Mexican food, but when it's Zabiha-Halal?! Say less. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE get their Birria Tacos + Horchata. The tacos were so flavorful and tasted so fresh. Horchata is to die for....like seriously some of the best I've ever gotten. I've gotten the beef chimichanga (decent, but VERY heavy), chicken quesadilla (really good), and enchiladas (decent). Please keep in mind that in order for the food to taste REALLY good, eat it fresh. I waited over an hour to eat the chimichanga (my mistake), and it was a bit soggy since it's supposed to be crispy when fresh. Tamales are also good; I'm really happy there's a halal/non-lard option because it's hard to find them around town. Make sure to eat it with salsa to add more flavor. Overall, I really like this restaurant, and I'm glad there's affordable halal-Mexican food in the area. :)

Authentic Mexican cuisine at a great price. Menu is also halal. 4 adults and 2 kids are comfortably for about 50 dollars including tip. We went on a Saturday night, so expect a wait for your food, but it is definitely worth it. All good is made to order. You get complimentary chips and salsa while you wait. We enjoyed: Elotes (corn), chicken fajita plate, enchilada plate (cheese is the best) and flauta plate (steak was the best)

The food was delicious and put together but the service could be little better. Place feels really family oriented and friendly environment. Appetizer didn't come before the meal it came with the meal so didn't like that. But over all the food was HALAL and tasted good.

October 4th was National Taco Day. So I called around to see if restaurants had a deal/special/sale on tacos on this day. When I called Señor Jalapeno, he said he would sell to me tacos for $1.25 each today, as many as I want. I was sold, got in the car after work and went over here. I don't want to "bad mouth" them because they really treated me nice. But I am going to be honest, ok? Cool. I got complimentary chips & salsa and ordered 2 beef American, 2 steak Mexican and 2 chorizo Mexican tacos with rice and beans. I received 2 beef American, 2 steak Mexican and 2 chorizo American tacos. I wasn't going to make a big deal of it. Chips were good. Salsa...well...let's just call it "Mexican ketchup". Beef tacos were good. Chorizo tacos were very good. Steak tacos were bland. Rice and beans were very bland. It is just 3 people working in there, so you have to be understanding towards refills and them checking back on you after your food is served. I will go back next year for National Taco Day.

Food was decent. Fair prices and friendly service. Owner/chef verbally confirmed that chicken, ground beef, and steak are halal. They even have coconut dessert. Update: Went back for a second time. Tacos and chimichanga were delicious, and service was good. They make us feel at home.

I love senor jalapeño...the tacos are great and filling and they always provide you with more than enough sauce for your whole order. I've gone there personally and ordered through grub hub and my order is always consistent

The BEST zabiha halal Mexican restaurant you can find! We frequently make the hour drive from the city just to have some authentic tacos - the lengua and al pastor are must haves. The owner Paul is always so kind, the service is excellent, and during Covid everything has been clean and staff is wearing masks. The horchata is always wonderful dessert.

5 Star.. The chef.. I forget his name, knows I like spicy food and alway lets me try a sampler of his new recipes. About a week ago he said he had something special for me. He made a salsa that was so delicious and spicy that I lost my words and train of thought!! Literally! I told him he should bottle it! I can't explain how flavorful this sauce it! Just go! Highly recommended

Food was very good. Especially the chicken tamales. Also had steak and ground beef tacos. No complaints. The salsa is very flavorful. Will order again. We ordered through Uber eats and the driver lost part of the order. When we called they were extremely nice and hand delivered what was forgotten and free nachos! Thanks Senor Jalapeno!

I was here around 2/17/20 and had the best salsa. I raved about it to my friends and family. I got a large order and it was well worth the price. Warm, fresh, fried to order chips were a huge plus!!! Went today, 3/10/20 and got some watered down overly spiced salsa that just wasn't very good. We got a small order and it was this tiny cup. Chips were not fried to order, but maybe my expectations were set too high. Didn't feel it was worth it, where most places will give a chips and salsa for free. The rest of the food was very good but my son told them twice, no onions, and his tacos had onions. It was takeout so we were stuck with it when we got home. Staff was nice, place is clean. They charged $7.75 for a Jr Burrito that was listed at $6.75 on the menu. Since it's so close, I'll try once more but will be disappointed if they can't fix the salsa. I feel they have a lot of potential with the right staff and some consistency, halal regardless.

I had been hearing great things about senor Jalapeno. So decided to try this place for lunch over the weekend. Right off the bat I was sold, lady at the counter was friendly and courteous. I ordered the delicious rice drink and steak enchiladas. Few minutes later order came and the portions were generous. The steak enchiladas came with rice and beans. Steak was cooked to perfection. Rice and beans were spot on as well. Prices were reasonable around $10-$11 for a meal and a drink. If your in the Lombard area Senor Frogs is the way to go. I would highly recommend this place.

I've been here twice and ordered 4 different things off of the menu and everything I've tried was just okay at best. I was disappointed because I was hoping to have authentic, flavorful Mexican food but after trying the food here, I believe I make better Mexican food at home. The employees are very kind though and the place is well-maintained.

This place is AMAZING!!! We've been a few times and the food and service is always above and beyond! We love the beef al pastor and asada. If you ask for the spicy avocado salsa you won't regret it. I would give zero stars if I could this establishment is extremely rude and unprofessional. Their behavior was absolutely unacceptable they kept staring at me and when I asked them "why I was being stared at", they just simply started laughing under their masks and started speaking Spanish, will no longer be eating here. This is my second time going here and both times I have had a terrible experience

For the prices, the food is OK. I had the steak dinner and it was pretty much what I expected. It was something I would order again if I went back. There were a couple small mistakes overall with our dinner. My wife's burrito was sent back because they put tomatoes in it when she asked for no tomatoes. And my dinner was supposed to come with tortillas, although they forgot until I reminded them. Like I said, small mistakes. The salsa was a little odd for my taste. See my photo of it for more explanation. And lastly, the tables(sticky), bathroom and baby high chairs were not very clean. They could do a much better job with deep cleaning of the restaurant. I am giving the low rating more due to the cleanliness than the food. I probably will not be going back. At least not anytime soon.

In the beginning I wasn't to fond of this place, the rice and beans were on the bland side and so are some of their meats. Now I know to ask for the green hot sauce/salsa. I usually get the al-pastor or steak. The nachos locos are to die for and we order whenever we dine in. Serving size is huge and you will definitely go home with a doggy bag.

Leave your coat in the car if you don't want it to smell like your dinner! It's the kind of place you leave smelling like what you had for dinner. Consider take out?? 5 stars to the exceptionally friendly staff. Amazing customer service. At dinner you are seated and order from a menu. I think at lunch you order at the counter. The restaurant could use a good scrub. Sticky tables and icky baby high chair. Took a few baby wipes to get the salsa and other grime off! The food is priced fair. Kind is like casual Mexican street food. No real speciality and everything is a bit bland. Good guacamole though!

My #1 go-to restaurant in town. Halal food. Amazing Mexican dishes, and better hot wings and burgers than any other halal restaurant in town. Also, this is the only place that has extremely spicy food, which is hard to come by. For Mexican dishes I recommend the Chile Relleno, Chimichanga, or Enchiladas. Otherwise mango habanero wings or the Hawaiian Burger with lime roasted habaneros!
