This was the 1st time coming to this location as I live close to the Senior Villa in Onalaska. We were greeted with a smile and no wait for a table. The whole restaurant was very clean, bright and happy feeling! The server was really nice and our food came out real hot and fast. It tasted so good! It's the same dish I order at the other location and it is as good as ever! I highly recommend this restaurant if you're in the mood for some good, fresh Mexican food! Thanks~Angie

My expectations for good Mexican food in La Crosse was not high having eaten at lots of California and Texan restaurants. Senor Villa didn’t disappoint. I ordered the Shrimp Relleno, which tasted very authentic, with its gooey melted cheese and fresh-tasting shrimp stuffed into the tender poblano pepper. 😋 My only slight disappointment was the chips were not very warm when it was served, typically Mexican restaurants toast it to a level of hotness to bite your fingers when it’s first brought out so you have to wait a little before you dip into the salsa. 😂 Their salsa was a little bland but they give you lots of hot sauce options at the table to adjust the heat level, some like it hot, some like it not. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Service was very friendly and quick. Prices were fair and probably on the cheaper end, but that’s relative to my experience from eating out in larger cities.

This restaurant is awesome!!! The waiter was very knowledgeable and on top of his game. The young man that delivered our food was great as well! I ordered the Texan with chicken & shrimp!! Then Tres Leche cake for dessert. It was well worth the drive into downtown off of 90E. Will definitely stop again when we travel thru.

Google
4 ⭐️ at least! Family lunch. We dropped off my oldest for school, and the food was awesome! The service today was just as good! Been here twice in the last few months, and today definitely hit the spot! Everyone enjoyed their food and made a sad day a little more bearable. It’s been 13 years for us since we were 5. 🫤

Google
I stopped in for lunch last Sunday afternoon with my son and my brother-in-law. We ordered tacos, a chimichanga and quesadillas. All of the food was great and the wait for our order was minimal. The wait staff was very friendly and their service was great. The restaurant was very clean.

Google
We were passing through and looking to have some good salsa with dinner. We had the fajitas and tacos and enjoyed both. The chicken was seasoned well and we're flavorful. We liked the salsa very much. They also had a white sauce for dipping... kind of like a southwest ranch which was great on the tacos.

Google
We went in for lunch and left the restaurant fully satiated and happy. This is the first time we tried Mexican food and loved it. Free unlimited nacho with two dips is a plus. Our server was very attentive. we will be coming back for more. We ordered their house special "Pollo Asado" and Chicken Fajitas quesadilla.

Google
We stopped for dinner here. We were greeted immediately and promptly taken to a table. We were brought chips and salsa immediately and they took our drink order at that time. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. Our food came out hot and plentiful. It was very good.

Yelp
Ordered take out with my coworkers and it was my first time eating from Senor Villa. Heard mixed reviews so i had to try it for myself of course. Tacos were seasoned prefectly but i personally prefer yellow corn tortillas whereas they had white corn tortillas. Beans were on point but there were some hard bean shells in there. Rice was a bit dry and bland. I food however like that they kept it authentic and provided lime and hot sauce without request. 3 star for me since Rice and beans, staple of an authentic Mexican meal was a bit off. But I'm definitely try again though.

Yelp
Let's start with the good things - we arrived on a Sunday evening and were instantly greeted by about 4 smiling faces at the door. Then, we were taken to a table. The restaurant is nice and clean, and fresh (maybe recently updated?). The wait staff seemed to not be busy at all, and they were just waiting around for us to be ready to order. We ordered and got our food pretty quickly. The prices were good for our enchiladas, about $12-13, and 2 of the kids meals were free (which was a nice surprise). But the food - it wasn't great. It wasn't awful, but it wasn't great. 4 of us ordered enchiladas, and it seemed like they all had the same relatively bland red sauce. 1 child ordered a pizza, which (I know) is not Mexican, but I'm pretty sure it was either microwave or something similar. Which I get, since it's not Mexican, but it didn't impress. The French fries were fine, and I liked the rice, although my husband did not.

Yelp
First time to eat here. Ordered quesadillas, beef had greasy beef filling nothing else inside no pico, sour cream, tomatoes on top of lettuce only. I had a cheese quesadilla, not much cheese with the same salad. Definitely not worth the 23.00 paid. If you have a change or special request it costs for everything 1.00 to 1.50 for each item. Don't understand the great reviews. I would NOT recommend this location. Thank you.

Yelp
Excellent food made by exceptional people. I had the Chipotle Shrimp. It will haunt my dreams.
google avatar

Shelby D.

Yelp
Good stuff, margs are huge and the food usually comes out super quick! Very cheap as well and the white sauce is delicious! Often just order that and chips to go

Gabriella S.

Yelp
I really enjoyed my meal and the service was kind, with good portions and prices. I've been to restaurants where I don't LOVE the classics (beans, rice, salsa, meats etc.) but I had a sample of all of these and liked them each a lot.

James E.

Yelp
The food is really lame, and I got a water glass with lipstick on it TWICE during two separate visits to the place. No Bueno!
google avatar

Tania S.

Yelp
Our favorite restaurant in town - tasty - authentic Mexican cuisine - my go to is tacos pastor w corn tortillas and a side of pico ... best around Always great service and great food - we have never been disappointed...
google avatar

Khanh N.

Yelp
Great establishment. I ordered the pastor tacos which came out extremely fast and were mouthwatering. The balance of the tacos were perfect and the service was good. Nothing to complain about here. Nice little spot for a quick, quiet, and relaxing bite.

Yelp
Arrived and was seated promptly. They had a full house. Server Noe came and took our drink order and within minutes, came back with them. This was the fastest that I had ever been served drinks!! I had a mango margarita while my husband had a pacifico (and they even put a lime in it!!) Chips and salsa on the house. It was good but I prefer my salsa to have lots of vegetable chunks. My chile verde meal was very good. Meat was very tender and I loved that it had some pork fat mixed in. Reminded me of a cultural dish that my mother used to make. Meal came with a side of flour tortillas which I rolled up and dipped it into the verde. Rice was well flavored as were the beans. Husband loved his beef taquitos.

Yelp
Will REVISIT AGAIN AND AGAIN!!! I was finally able to attend a dinner with close family and really enjoyed it! The place was very CLEAN and the staff was polite.. We all able to sit together because of the pandemic.. Although we were able to sit table to table divided by main walkway (NOT their fault but it did make hard to communicate without raising our voices) The price to us are reasonable.. The portions of FOOD are more than enough.. We had pulled pork, chicken burritos, chicken tamales and plenty of CHIPS & dippings! Everything was served hot and fresh.. My burrito was a little light on seasonings for my "TASTE" but still GREAT!! PLUS the "fried CHEESE CAKE" became my absolute FAVORITE Mexican dessert!! NO more "fried ICE CREAM" for me!! My family will continue to visit this restaurant AGAIN & AGAIN!! Thank you Señor Villa for restoring my FAITH in restaurants
google avatar

Mara B.

Yelp
The food is tasty, I wish there were more traditional offerings. Service has been great the three times we've dined here. The food also comes out very fast. We dined in, but the patio is open too.

Yelp
Bingo! Yahtzee! As per other reviews from various locations, I've a particular itch for Mexican food and was wondering if my new location might provide the ability to scratch that itch. Señor Villa soothed my worried brow and satisfied my hunger for Mexican food. I'll work my way across their menu but this first visit demanded a carnitas burrito, Burrito Norteño to be exact without sauce or rice; the former just because, the latter to lessen calories. The owners and staff were originally from Mexico, very attentive, polite, warm and friendly. If you're in La Crosse exploring for Mexican food, you could do a whole lot worse than taking yourself and treasure to Señor Villa where the value for money proposition is laudable.

Charles S.

Yelp
Heard all about this place...the expectations were pretty high walking in the door. Man it didn't disappoint! The service was fantastic, the food was really good and it was extremely fast! The atmosphere was lively even with a well diversified crowd of young folks, older folks and families. I guess the only complaint I would have is that with the food coming out so quick, I didn't have enough time to drink more of their good margaritas!
google avatar

Eckstrom M.

Yelp
Very Disappointing. I'm not sure why they have such good reviews. We read them before we decided to eat here and thought we would give it a try. First, it was a clean place. The hostess was very kind, sat us right away. Our waitress was attentive and kept our waters and drinks full. We had the chorizo tacos, 2 seafood chimichangas and beef tostada and chicken chimichanga. First the salsa tased like ketchup and they had this weird ranch dip with like miracle whip in it. I asked the server what it was, she said she didn't know some kind of ranch sauce. Margarita was from a machine, (I expected a good one being a Mexican restaurant) my tostada was so greasy from the meat it was like soggy paper. I couldn't eat it. My rice had so much garlic salt in it, I couldn't eat it either. I really would not recommend this place. For the price and reviews I excepted it to be much better. To top it off all four of us ended up with stomach aches all night. It really put a damper on our visit to LaCrosse for Easter weekend.

Yelp
It is not often that I get done with work early enough where I can get some sort of take out, but today is one of those rare days. My wife and I have heard good things about the new Senor Villas restaurant, after all it recently won the 2018 awards for best tacos and best new restaurant for the La Crosse County area, so I figured to get some food to go. First impressions: The parking is terrible. I had to go around the block before I could get near the building and then park two blocks away from the restaurant itself before I could get in. Although this was annoying, the fact that all their spaces were full might indicate that it's a popular place to eat. The host was very polite, and the restaurant was not as crowded in walking room as I imagined. The restaurant itself looked very clean, and the wall colors were also nice and bright, there were not any sort of decorations though. The host told me that I would get my food around 20 minutes, and he was correct on the exact timing. My son got chicken tenders, my wife got a beef chimichanga, and I got the build your own combo with a chicken chimichanga and chile relleno. My wife was not pleased with their salsa, she felt it tasted like Ortega mild sauce. The white sauce that I would assume is a pepper jack ranch sauce tasted really good, and the chips were good with that sauce. My chimichanga was okay, but it did not have a crunch to it at all; it tasted more like an enchilada to me. Price-wise it was similar to other Mexican restaurants I've eaten at in the La Crosse area. Overall it seemed pretty average, and wasn't as great as other people had made it sound like to me. I was expecting something a little better for them winning two Awards for the best of La Crosse County 2018 competition; maybe I should have ordered the taco instead since that's one of their Awards.

Yelp
we celebrated my husband's birthday with 14 people. It is very hard these days to find a place that will accommodate that many seated together. When I called, they were so delightfully accommodating! The service was spot on and the food was reasonably price and delicious! I highly recommend Senor Villa!

Yelp
It's hard to not want to over eat here. The food is so fresh and tasty! The staff was very kind when I walked in and promptly sat me at a table. The place was packed with larger groups than just me, but I never felt less important than the others. Ordered a chicken burrito off of their lunch menu and was very surprised at the speed of the delivery. And to boot the food was fresh and cooked exactly like I ordered. The chips and salsa are great. But their queso I top notch! A nice variety of great hot sauces at the table and the place is clean. From the floor to the table and all around it is WELL maintained. Great places are hard to come by and even harder to maintain. I sure hope Señor Villa stays for a long time.

Yelp
Stopped here for the first time. Very clean and modern location. Great prices and food portions. I got the Camarones al mojo de ajo and they were delicious! My husband got a plate of the carnitas and they had great flavor as well! Great lime and peach Margaritas as well. Very friendly and helpful staff! Definitely will be a repeat customer! Great authentic Mexican food!

Yelp
I stopped in for dinner before a movie recently and let me tell you, we had no problem being served and finishing our food before we had to leave! The service from the kitchen once we ordered was crazy fast but rest assured that the food was still good. I had a margarita on the rocks and my dinner companion a frozen flavored one and we were not disappointed on that front either. They are sizable though so be prepared for a "double" right off the bat. There was more than enough food served and we had plenty of choices and combinations to choose from off of the dinner menu. We were served fresh delicious chips when we were seated along with a tiny carafe of salsa and a dish of ranch with extra seasoning. In addition to food service being fast the waitstaff was also polite, helpful, and kept the water glasses filled. The place was still hopping on a Friday night when we departed to catch our 7pm movie so it is clear that this is spot enjoyed by the locals.

Yelp
This is a must stop for me and my husband every time we are in Onalaska. We've been to both locations multiple times. I wish we lived closer so I could go every week! The food is amazing no matter what you order!
google avatar

Mike C.

Yelp
Such a super clean place the staff are constant cleaning the slightest bits of dirt they find. Super smart hostesses and the food was great. Would give 5 if there wasn't veggies in the taco meat. Price was nice too. I would go back!
google avatar

Juan C.

Yelp
Absolutely quality in their food. I came with my family and had a shared dinner so I was able to try their flautas, shrimp cocktail, cheese dip for the nachos and finally the cheesecake chimichanga dessert. All was fantastic! I especially appreciated the fast and attentive service the hosts and waitress had. The space itself is ample and conducive for a solo quick bite or family gathering.

Yelp
Great restaurant with excellent food. My favorite is the Seafood Vallarta. Shrimp and Crab in tortillas smothered in a mucho bueno white queso sauce served with Spanish rice and lettuce, tomato and sour cream. You can't go wrong
google avatar

Sherry M.

Yelp
Authentic Mexican at great prices and nice decor! Best Mexican so far in LaCrosse and I have tried a lot of them! Staff was excellent. Fast service and pleasant atmosphere! Update******* If our waiter is wondering if we forgot to leave a tip. We didn't and here is why! Had lunch there yesterday and I ordered the tamale with side of rice and beans. Tamale was horrible. The corn masa was so thick I couldn't eat it. Pretty sure it was a pre frozen one. Horrible. Not much flavor. Our waiter was even worse. He brought us water. That's all he did. Never came back and filled our glasses. Never came back after we got our food. No service. No tip! He spent most of his time standing around checking out the backside of all the college gals!
google avatar

Kelly G.

Yelp
I need to start this by saying I've only eaten at the Onalaska location prior to tonight. I always get hard shell beef tacos with beans on the side. The La Crosse location was closer to my dinner companions so we went there. Pros: Always plenty of helpful, friendly staff so you never have to wait long for anything. The frozen margaritas are stellar. The fried ice cream was delish. Cons: Very busy restaurant, very little parking. The refried beans were so salty I couldn't eat them. The beef used in the tacos had a variety of different things mixed in, not all identifiable: leaves? lima beans? peas? potato chunks? carrots? I'm not entirely sure, but I've never seen anything like it and those items are definitely not in the taco meat at the Onalaska location. It's a great restaurant with great food, just not at this location.
google avatar

Damian C.

Yelp
Terrible!! I don't know why anyone would like this place. The building is too small for starters! The salsa was a joke. The salsa seemed watery because to cheat volume, they mutilate the heck out of the ingredients. I'm sure it was blended by a food processor or blender of some sort. I like salsa that is a bit chunky, or at least something that has texture. I ordered the platter, and forgive me for forgetting the name....but it was the one that has steak, shrimp, and chicken. Served with mexican rice, and a side of lettuce with sour cream and diced tomatoes on top. The steak and chicken was dry and lacked flavor. The shrimp texture was rubbery, and I counted and had only 3 tiny shrimp...(I guess that was a good thing). I was hoping this place was better after hearing from certain people that it was good, but the thing is, for most of the people who doesn't cook...food is going to taste good to you. I also felt like if you were drinking and sipping back margaritas then you loved the food too... If I could say anything positive about this place, would be the fact that the chips come out fresh and hot, but the chips wasn't the saving grace for this place for me. I won't be back.

Richard F.

Yelp
This family has done it again! After running a very successful Señor Villa's down on West Avenue in La Crosse, they have opened a second Señor Villa's in Onalaska at the old Tequilla's building. The interior has been completely remodeled and it is now a bright, open area with totally new furnishings. The menu is very similar to that of the West Avenue site, and the food is equally well prepared. The waitstaff is enthusiastic, efficient, and affable. If you are looking for a good Mexican meal, this is a place well-worth stopping at.
google avatar

Rich H.

Yelp
Was there last week the first ate outside for lunch nice day food and service good. Recommend very much

Jessica S.

Yelp
My friends and I love this place. Good food comes out super quick and their blended margs are just the right amount of everything. The peach one is to die for.

Arianne S.

Yelp
The tostada was ok. Just beef and lettuce. I thought there would be cheese on it. Tamale was pretty good. Margaritas were ok , not overly flavorful.
google avatar

Shayn L.

Yelp
We stopped in town to visit our cousin who is a Senior college student at UW LA CROSSE. She took us downtown to see the Rotary Christmas lights right off the Mississippi river. Afterwards we asked her to take us somewhere for some good Mexican food. She brought us here and I am glad she did. They were very busy on a Tuesday evening. The place was clean, food tasted great and was fresh, it also came out fast. Service was great, we had a very friendly server that made our visit fun. I had the fajitas rancheros which was delicious! I highly recommend this.... my wife had the flauntas dinner which was also very good. Our daughter had a cheese quesidillia dinner that she enjoyed. So all the way around it was great. Not to mention thier margeritas were amazing. I had the lime on the rocks, the girls each had a raspberry and strawberry blended. Worth trying them all! Lol
google avatar

Bill B.

Yelp
The building looks small but it's much larger inside Clean and modern First time visit, food very good Salsas unique and good Lunch specials very reasonable Service excellent Try it you'll like it We stopped back again Tried different menu items Again the food is very good and so was the service You can't beat the lunch specials
google avatar

Hector S.

Yelp
I was visiting a friend and we had heard good things about this place. Usually we go to Iguanas but we decided to try something new. The food was good, we ordered the Shrimp Fajitas and the Steak Tacos. The fajitas come with a side of rice, beans, and lettuce with sour cream and the Tacos only come with a side of beans and rice. We initially wanted to share the fajitas and the order is large enough to share between two people but I wasn't sure before I ordered and the server said it was average size which didn't help. The fajitas were good and the price was reasonable, The steak tacos were a bit overpriced and only come with two, and came on a flour tortilla with no choice to switch to a corn tortilla. Overall the food was good, the service was ok, and pricing was unreasonable for what you get. If you're used to more of an americanized Mexican food experience this will be what you're looking for. Side note that is neither negative nor positive: They serve chips and ranch and salsa I recommend splurging on the cheese sauce they offer

Paul S.

Yelp
We had a party of twenty and we did not have a reservation or nothing and they attended us so quick and then they all gave us water fast and chips and when we ordered the food came fast and the food was great and what was better was the people who worked there and the impecable service
google avatar

Brad P.

Yelp
Very clean and neat. It was my first visit. I had the fajitas and to be honest, they were lacking fajita flavor a bit. They were not greasy and there was plenty of it. I just wish it had more flavor. Chips and salsa were very good. I will definitely be back even though it's a longer drive for me.
google avatar

Yelp
If you look at all my reviews you will start to think that I only write excellent reviews. But the truth is, La Crosse is a small town. I'm lucky enough to eat out a lot and so I'm pretty familiar with most of the restaurants and purveyors in town. It's against my nature to write anything nasty, So I end up reviewing only places that I truly enjoy. Senor Villa HAS to be on that list! I was so grateful when a decent Mexican restaurant opened in La Crosse, and it's pretty much the only place that we go anymore. It's not an overly decorated, schmaltzy, darkly-lit place... The atmosphere almost feels more like a coffee shop. But it has always been spotlessly clean, and our food has been consistently amazing. I had a good experience with the chimichangas on my first visit, and I've never been inclined to order anything else. But my dining partners have sampled quite a few of the items, and there has never been anything but a winner. I'm not a drinker, but the margaritas have won high praise. The service has been attentive and accurate. What more could you ask for? Free chips and salsa?? Check!
google avatar

Olivia P.

Yelp
First off let me say that this is a college Mexican restaurant. Don't come here expecting fancy tacos with sangria. It's mostly refried beans and rice with frozen margarita from a machine (yes you can combine flavors!). It's right by UWL campus. The food is descent, the staff are very friendly, and it's cheep. If you are expecting amazing Mexican food then this is not the right place for you... but if your looking for an okay meal for around $5-8 than this is the place for you! Margaritas are $5 on Mondays and Tuesday! Lunch is around $5-$8 during the week. You get a whole bunch of chips as soon as you order! All in all it's a good deal! At least as a college student...
google avatar

Susan D.

Yelp
Went there for lunch today. For $5, it was a fabulous meal. We had a chicken chimichanga and a beef burrito. Both were excellent. The place is clean and the service was prompt and friendly. The food was served very fast and arrived fresh and hot. Excellent for lunch and their menu for supper looks to be reasonably priced, too. We will definitely be back for more.

Customer S.

Yelp
Awesome Mexican restaurant. Very good food with excellent portion sizes. Only negative is I prefer more salt, lime and cilantro in my guacamole. Try the Chile verde. Wow! U will not be disappointed if you like carnitas. Highly recommended! Everyone loves tacos.

Terrence S.

Yelp
Terrible tasteless food. Got pastor tacos. Came with pineapple and had no flavor. Boys Mac a cheese was good. Wife hated her fajitas. Daughter liked the guac. Queso cheese dip was good. Won't be back.

Hollie D.

Yelp
Fun spot. Good Mexican food. Laid back atmosphere. Kind wait staff. The Molcajete was awesome! Good drinks.
google avatar

Jason C.

Yelp
Stopped in for lunch while in town for business. Clean, great prices, great service and delicious food. This is my new go-to Mexican spot in La Crosse. Thank you!!
google avatar

Courtney T.

Yelp
The chips and salsa and extra cheese dip were the best things we ate. I ate carne asada tacos- they were missing something. The meat was dry- it would benefit from a great marinade and some extra toppings like cheese and some sort of sauce. The beans were actually pretty good. Rice was very plain. My boyfriend had the enchiladas mexicana and they were sub par. The sauce tasted mostly like tomatoes. Overall I probably wouldn't go back.

Katelynn V.

Yelp
Good Margs! Fast Service! I had a fabulous chimichanga. The salsas to start are also great. Highly recommend

Wouldn't Y.

Yelp
Was a big fan when they first opened and have spent a lot of money here. Lately however the quality of the food and the service has been lower than sub-par. A few times even trying to order pick up or delivery, was pretty much shut down with a very rude response that they were "too busy" even before a dinner rush. Not impressed.
google avatar

Sherri A.

Yelp
Extremely clean and very delicious place to eat Mexican. Recommend the fajitas, chicken chimichanga, and beef tacos. Not far off the interstate so quick and easy on/off.
google avatar

Todd M.

Yelp
This is our go-to Mexican place in La Crosse (so much so that they've watched our toddler grow from a baby)! The food is great and well-priced. The margaritas are very good as well. The only reason I gave it four stars instead of five is that the service can be a bit hit and miss sometimes (more hit than miss though) and the bicycle parking isn't good with only one tiny bike rack.
