After meeting Stephanie at a pop up in the city, I asked if she would be available to cater an event at my home. Communication before the event was professional and timely, much to my type A delight. She constructed a menu that would accommodate allergies and dietary preferences of my guests and was descriptive in what would go into every dish and condiment. She was also super concise on what equipment she planned to bring, which gave me a head’s up on what kind of kitchen space would be required.
On the day of the event, she arrived with all the gear necessary. I’m talking about containers for the food, utensils, serving ware - down to the little toothpicks that had the Korean flag. This was the first event where I didn’t worry about refilling the food or making sure there were enough forks to go around. Stephanie and her team rolled kimbap, fried chicken, and marinated rice cakes right in the kitchen, so the food was hot and fresh. A menu was displayed next to the food, so the vegan and gluten free folks knew exactly where to go.
At the end of the night, all of the gear was packed away and the kitchen was returned to me in better condition than I gave it to her. There were hardly any leftovers, so you can surmise that everyone loved it. If you’re considering Seoul Chikin for your next event, you won’t regret it. And if you’re anything like me, it will be the first party where you actually get to talk to all of your guests since you won’t be running into the kitchen every five minutes!
