Very friendly, helpful staff. Meat looks great and prices are reasonable for high quality meat. They were will to cut a brisket while I waited since I didn’t have enough people for the full thing. Although it is 25 minutes from me I will definitely be back!

I just had the most incredible experience at Sepulveda Meats and Provisions at 1220 28th St, San Diego, CA 92102, and I can't recommend it enough! From the moment I walked in, I knew this was a special place. I was looking for a brisket, and the butcher that assisted me, knew his shit. Not only were they incredibly accommodating, but they were also wonderfully descriptive, walking me through the different cuts and offering fantastic advice. *Note you don't know what you don't know! What truly sets Sepulveda Meats apart, and what made me an instant loyal customer, is their commitment to locally sourced meat. I learned that their meat comes from California, including Brawley, which is just fantastic. In a world where so much is imported, finding a local butcher that serves up locally grown meat is a breath of fresh air and something I deeply appreciate. The quality is evident, and knowing I'm supporting local agriculture makes it even better. While being run up the butcher noticed my VA id card that was in my wallet hanging around my neck. Boom additional discount. Thank you, and if you read this the brisket smoked 14 -16 hrs including after wrapping cook time. This is no exaggeration the meat was like thick jello that dissolved in your mouth. Best brisket ever. There is no other place to buy meat than this place. The guys are always helpful, friendly and accommodating. I need to purchase filets and steaks. My husband and I have different preferences and generally buy 4-6 at a time and they always will package them together in 4-6 vacuum sealed bags, which saves me a lot of time. Sausage there is incredible and are many interesting options. Prices are more than reasonable especially for the quality of meat. Appreciate you guys!

Community gem! Family owned and loved. Supports fellow local small businesses. The absolute best quality meat and a regular staple on our table. Our favorites (if possible because we love everything they do) are their ribeyes and fresh Thursday sausage. The breakfast sausage is the best way to start your day. The secret is out! One of the best cuts I’ve ever had in my life! The customer service, amazing. Cleanliness of store, spotless. Quality of meat, the best. Could not have stumbled or even searched for a better place to buy steaks from. Thank you! 1.18lb Bone-in rib-eye (about two inches thick) Seared on high heat on stoved top, 2 minutes each side. Placed in oven at 400 degrees for 5 minutes. Removed and placed in foil, covering for 5 minutes. Pictures are the result. Came out a perfect medium.

I needed fresh Polish Sausage for some midwinter Sauerkraut soup. Sausage was 7.50 for 2 links. Browned up beautifully in the pot. Hearty, yummy and spot-on-flavor. Thanks!

A+ neighborhood butcher shop. The butchers here are friendly and skilled and so creative. 100+ flavors of sausage rotated every Thursday?! Sign me up! They sell a delicious sharp cheddar cheese and fresh pasta every week as well. Plus they have a wine bar/restaurant next door and with the option to pick out a steak and grill it up for dinner. Cool, small-town, cozy vibes.

High quality meat that is worth the price. Also their sausages and bratwursts are FANTASTIC. Never buying Johnsonville bratwursts again.

Got breakfast sausage from here and it made the most amazing sausage rolls! Perfectly seasoned and just the right amount of fat. Also tried the brats and I've never had anything better. Worth the drive

Yay-- so happy I found an amazing butcher shop in my neighborhood! They make some DELICIOUS sausages. I wanted to make pizza so I got the spicy Italian & pepperoni sausages for it, and both of them were soooo tasty. Three sausages + the $6 basil pesto totaled a little over $18. Of course $12 for three sausages isn't particularly sustainable for a lot of us, but when it's a special occasion or you're wanting to treat yourself, it's very worth it :) The staff is great, and the place is located in an area a lot of parking and close to balboa. The basil pesto was also really yummy, I added a little lemon to it because I love a little more citrus in mine and it really made all the flavors pop.

Best Carne Asada and bratwurst in town. Make sure you bring cash as they don't take cards.

We were looking for fresh ground veal and pork to make ravioli. Unfortunately they were out of veal but had high quality ground beef. The place is very clean and the butcher was very helpful. We bought their special sausage of the week to try that they had just made. Haven't cooked it yet. But our ravioli turned out perfect and delicious

Love this place. Great local butcher shop. They have some interesting products such as fresh quail! Customer service is always warm and welcoming. Go here for all your meat and poultry needs. Did I mention the have fresh pasta as well!

Always excellent meat. I highly recommend slow cooking the marinated tri-tip, on the grill, per Sepulveda's directions. It is amazing!

Love, love, love, the meats here! Move over Arby's, Sepulveda HAS THE MEATS! Recently popped in here to pick out a steak to be prepared next door at Juan Jasper. I'd been here a number of times so I knew I was in for a treat. The best steak I've ever cooked was from here. It was a beautifully marbled Brandt beef ribeye! Yes, you're absolutely going to pay more than you would at Vons, but the quality of the meat will be astoundingly superior. Like many, you might not be able to afford to eat this good on a daily basis, however, it's definitely worth treating yourself now and again. And to be completely transparent, when you buy meat of this quality, a little goes a long way. You'll be surprised how satiated you'll feel after eating such rich and succulent proteins. I was a huuuuuge fan of their Korean Pork belly so I hope they bring that back! They've got lots and lots to choose from so come on in and check them out!

Best beef tenderloin I ever made or had including 5 star restaurants! Customer service was very pleasant and knowledgeable, If I didn't live 100 miles away, I would go here quite opften. Reasonable market prices as well.

This place holds the record in San Diego for sausages. Just outstanding. And I've lived in a triangle of 3 Italian butchers in Greenwich Village/Soho. These guys are the real deal. I thought the bacon was a bit eh but the steak was also outstanding.

I cannot understand why any business would post a sign on their front door that they only accept cash, Venmo,etc and not credit cards for payment. Also, they tell you the location of the nearest ATM in a local market on the same street so you can get cash, but you should not have to walk an additional distance or pay a fee to get cash to do business with ANY business. If Sepulveda Meats is upset with credit card processing fees, they should post a statement explaining their position and pass the fees to their customers and they should give a discount to all customers that pay cash. I will no longer be a customer due to this payment policy.

Absolutely THE best choice we made to visit! They have the most delicious cuts of meat. The steaks melt in your mouth like butter! The meat is fresh and cooks like a steakhouse meal. We did not ask what was in the sausage that was recommended and so it turns out it had an ingredient that someone in our family was allergic to. We will ask moving forward. They butcher helped us choose great things and the Tomahawk was our large purchase of our $170 order. This is the best Meat and Provisions business in San Diego so far that we have visited.

Love this spot! The meat is so good and I soooo appreciate the pricing not being absolutely insane. They are also so helpful with suggestions on preparation, everything they have suggested for me has turned out perfect. Currently they are cash, Venmo and Zelle only FYI!

Most impressive. This is the real deal. I had a detailed conversation with Glen on the phone about various cuts of meat, and preparations of his seasonal meatballs. I knew this was the place to buy meat, from someone who respects quality, and service. Sure enough, upon entry to the shop, asking for Glen, he immediately knew me. All the meat is minimum 4 week wet-aged. I purchase a T Bone steak @ $23/lb. Without even asking me, Glen immediately vacuum sealed the steak, insuring that it was last several days in my fridge before grilling. I noticed a few more items at the cashier, and purchased a Stuffed Portabello mushroom, $4.50, and a small container of walnut pesto sauce made the prior day, $6.00. Great selection of better meats, and I know I'll be back!!!

Roxanne was amazing and helped me over the phone choose the best cut for my family. When I went to pick it up, everyone was friendly and they had my cut wrapped and ready to go. One of the best pieces of prime rib I've had in my life. Will go here again. Wonderful experience

I like supporting small, locally owned businesses, if they excel. Sepulveda Meats has a good selection of meats, a small number of ready to go, packaged products, like their awesome carne asada. I would give them five stars, but, in this day and age, where some businesses won't even accept cash, they HAVE to solve the absence of ability to pay with a dabit card. I've been provided three different accounts, by three different employees, about why the debit card station isn't functioning. Pick one and stick with it. They are quick to tell you, you can go to a nearby liquor store and withdraw cash. For $4 fee. It doesn't make sense to buy $20 worth of sausages but pay $24 for them because they don't have a debit machine. It's absurd. They will also tell you that you can zelle or venmo. My bank doesn't interact with venmo because of security issues with the application and I have no interest in using zelle. It is the ONLY business in San Diego, that I have personally been in, where you can't pay with a straight debit card. I've heard other customers complain about this when I am in the store. At this point, I'll go to Iowa meats or Siesel's. I'd love to support them, if they can make it customer oriented.

A staff so friendly & helpful, nice selection of exceptional meats. Don't forget to order your fresh Thanksgiving turkey here (and pick up some thick cut bacon, too)! Arrive hungry and have a fabulous dining experience in their adjoining restaurant. A wonderful wine selection that the chefs will attest to as they sip wine while preparing your meal. You have a front row seat to the kitchen magic when you sit at the inside dining bar (sipping your own glass of wine). Totally delightful.

We decided to celebrate Pride weekend by barbecuing. We got some boneless ribeye steaks that had marbling I have only seen on wagu steaks. We put them on the barbecue with a couple of mesquite bricks mixed in with Kensford bricks. Four minutes each side (approximately). Paired it with a bottle of Petite Syrah and a wedge of crisp lettuce salad on the side. It was a Religious Experience!! This was the best steak either of us have eaten in our long, long lives. These guys have some amazing meats. Check out their sausages, too! Worth the trip and worth the price!!

I now come here religiously for BONES, & SAUSAGES--their knowledge about the animals/local farms that they work with, their absurdly top-notch products, and their customer service are so on point. These folx are gods. Srsly. The quality of their proteins makes every other "Butcher" look basic. The various steaks, pork products, whole birds, sausages and weirdly the deep freeze cryo chicken livers are so above and beyond what's available anywhere. Hello pâté my old friend... It is a Cheffy person paradise. Priced fair too.

A must for fresh high quality meat. Bought a fresh and brined turkey and it was juicy and delicious for Thanksgiving 2 years in a row... The Garlic herb sausages here are awesome and often run out so don't buy them. Last thing I want is to go to my favorite spot and they be out.

This five-star review is based on: 1) Quality: the meat is here fantastic. Even though you can find grass-fed, hormone-free meats at chain grocery stores, the products at Sepulveda Meats are a cut above the rest. It's so good that I often use their steak for tartar, to enjoy the beef just as it is. 2) Selection: the wide selection of cuts and products here gives you lots of great options. The sausages are fantastic. In addition to a lot of the popular cuts of beef, they have superb marrow bones and other specialties that you can't get at this quality in chain stores. 3) Service & small business: really nice people who take pride in their business and products. There's something different about getting your meat from here. These people care about their product in a way that you only find in small businesses. Especially with so many small businesses hurting during lockdowns, it's more important than ever to support ones like this. Their prices are more than fair for what you get, and when you taste what you bought, you'll know it was worth it. I'll be coming here many times, no doubt about it.

They sell everything from oxtail to homemade pasta for little italy - all your dinner needs. The staff are super friendly and inviting with some great recommendations as well.

Great Place! I appreciate the time they spend with you when you are asking questions. Have you ever felt like you are the only person in the shop when you are asking questions? No? Well, you do here because they give you their undivided attention and answer each question! I had a ton of question when making my brisket and they helped me select a piece of meat that met my cooking/smoking needs! I enjoy knowing they source their meet locally and know the farms from where the cattle come from. Give Sepulveda a call, come in to visit, and know what it is like to have a fantastic butcher answer your questions with care!

New to the area and wanted to find a local butcher. I ordered 3 boneless ribeye and 2 duck breasts. I made the ribeyes for Valentine's Day and...wow! Very good tasting and high quality meat. I have yet to make the duck but I'm sure I won't be disappointed. The staff was friendly/knowledgeable and they had a good selection. They also said if they don't have something available that it can be ordered. Next time I go I will definitely try some of their sausages, which change each week. Only reason for 4 stars is the price seemed a little high. I understand it will be more expensive than a grocery store, but not something that seems affordable on a regular basis.

I wish I could give them 10 stars. Great people. Great quality food. Immaculately clean. Everyone in the neighborhood eats better because they opened up. You walk in and they remember your name, what you like, what you don't like. They have taught me how to cook several of the cuts I was sure I would mess up. Thursday is sausage day. When you go in they have 8-12 varieties fresh made. They also make homemade pasta and sauce to take home! Everything is vacuume sealed for freshness when you buy it. I recommend the bavette. It's become my favorite cut of beef. The ribs are fantastic. I can't recommend them enough. Even if you live some distance away. Worth the trip.

Outstanding service above and beyond at Sepulvida Meats. It was my first time there despite driving past it for many times over the years. I was looking to cook a steakhouse quality meal at home since COVID-19 rather than ordering takeout from a steakhouse. Sepulveda staff were great! They walked me through my selections and made suggestions. I got a tomahawk ribeye, bavetta, beef short rib, and some sausages. The prices were reasonable and they vacuum sealed our selections. I went home and cooked the tomahawk and it was the best steak I've ever grilled at home. Thank you Sepulveda as I will be back for more. I will never buy grocery store steak again after this experience.

This is my favorite butcher shop due to staff and selection of my favorite cuts. This is where I get special occasion steaks... a weekend is a special occasion, right?The bavette steak is one of my favorites, and not outrageously expensive at $20/pound. Of course, the prices here are substantially higher than Von's, and even Costco, but the meat here always tastes great even if I accidentally overcook it. The sausage flavors are unique and taste so much better and less salty than your average Johnsonville pack. A few years ago, they were selling dry aged steaks at the same price as wet aged (because they didn't have a huge operation for dry aged at the time), but I'm not sure if that is still the case. They've also started selling Assenti fresh pasta which is quite convenient. The staff are very pleasant, and I'm sure would be happy to assist if you had questions. I just like being greeted and acknowledged when I walk in, which is not what happens at a few of the other butcher shops in San Diego.

Beyond perfect if that is even possible. My experience was second to none that I have had with a butcher and I stumbled across the place. I bought two cuts. First, was their filet. I prepared it reverse sear au poivre and it was money. The second was short rib which I smoked low and slow until the fat had dissolved into the unxious cut to create crazy yumminess. She noticed my Navy hat and asked if I was a vet. They gave me an additional 10% off. If you are anywhere near this place, stop in, enjoy some great conversation and drop the rest of us a thank you card. Bravo

Great place to pick up fresh meats! The quality and cuts is so good and the price is reasonable! Everyone is friendly and knowledgeable here. I've gotten their bone in ribeye the last 2 times, it was so flavorful and the perfect thickness. I'll definitely be coming back more often especially when I'm in the area!

Steaks are always amazing! They also vacuum seal your order if you are not planning to cook that day. Great customer service and always a good selection. The meats are quite pricey but they are high quality and taste better than the grocery store, Costco or most other butchers. It's worth treating yourself.

Finally got to the store on Saturday. I was impressed by the variety of sausages available. The Southern BBQ and Barese Italian links were both very tasty.

This butcher shop is kick ass. They are welcoming, knowledgeable crew that will answer your questions, whether it be your 1st visit to a butcher shop or experienced grill cook. The quality is superb, and prices are in line with similar shops. Try these guys out and especially try the hot links, so tasty. I recommend boiling them and then slapping them on a hot grill.

Great local butcher with amazing quality meats. They were very informative when I had any questions regarding cuts. Their portions are big and great price. I ended up ordering some ribeyes that they said were wet-aged for about 4-6 weeks. I did ask for dry-age but unfortunately they did not have any at the time. They did mention that they were planning on bringing some in so hopefully next time. The best part was that they vacuum sealed our meats rather than just wrap it. Overall, great local butcher!

I have to put as much emphasis as possible on how neat, clean abs friendly this place is!!!!!!!!! My sister found them for me Bc I've been looking for neck bones and everywhere is sold out. Super friendly and welcoming when I walked in for one and how clean and neat it is!! Omg! Highly recommend!!! Also they're not busy at the moment if anyone needs last minute meat runs before thanks giving. Omg I am sooo happy I ended up going to this spot!! This place really made my day!

My husband found this funky little joint and let me to IT IS THE BEST! Neither one of us are big on brats, but when we went by there they told us they made fresh brats every week different flavors so I went there Friday first in line I got 3 each of the 11 flavors 2 BEAUTIFUL marbled ribeyes a pichana and 2 lbs of shaved rib eye! When I say we got the best cuts of me I mean it! We sous vide the ribeyes and they were SSOOO tender and juicy the amount of fat was out of this world! We used half the shaved rib eye to make Philly cheesesteak as recommended by the clerk and again you just can't go wrong with this place! So far we have only tried the jalapeño cheddar brats and im like okay I just want half of one because they are pretty big size, I ate the whole thing! The flavor was soooo good! Can't wait to try the Barese brat next! I'll definitely post pics of the brats as we make them

This is the BEST place to buy quality meats! My boyfriend and I live in La Jolla and drive here to buy meats every weekend. The people who work here are always happy to see you, have such a great attitude and are always ready to help. We buy the sirloin steak here often and cook it or eat it as steak tartare; Ive also bought liver here to make into pâté; and they have hundreds of sausage flavors, made in house, that they rotate often. My husband found this place as a recommendation from a coworker. It's located in the Golden Hill neighborhood and close to the Starbucks at the corner. I liked the sausages and the carne asada that we had purchased here a few weeks prior and with our friends in town, we took them to see this place and pick out stuff for the grill. We ended up getting the boneless ribeye's and some more of the spicy fennel, Italian blend, and one of the chicken and waffles sausages to try. It didn't disappoint!! In fact, we love this place so much, we're coming back again this upcoming Labor Day weekend for some treats for the grill!! It's a gem of a place!!

I have been going to this place for about two years now. Everything is a hit. The butcher knows what he doing. I've probably had everything they have to offer at this point and I have yet to be disappointed. Try the sausage!!! Made fresh! My personal fav is the spicy fennel. Way to go, Sepulveda. I checked your website this morning, said you would be open until 5 p.m. Called there at 4:20 p.m., to make sure that you had carne asada. Got no answer, called twice. Went back to your Google shortcut and now it said "CLOSED". Your voicemail indicates you were open until 5 p.m., you weren't. Way to blow my dinner plans for tonight. I get it, you are a small, family sort of business, you can do what you want, but if you advertise being open until 5 p.m., before a long holiday weekend, you should be OPEN UNTIL 5.

I LOVE THIS PLACE!! Great prices for the product. The beef tenderloin honestly rivaled nice steakhouses in the area. The sausages are always amazing a juicy. I can't say enough good things about this place!
