We spent NYE at Ser Esencia restaurant and overall had a great night. Thank you to the whole team!
The restaurant positions itself as a gourmet beach restaurant in the meals, atmosphere, service AND prices (160 USD per person!!). At such a high price point, you NEED to be perfect, and I will thus rate the restaurant as such.
Food: the food was good, not phenomenal but good. I think it could be improved however, and get a little closer to Michelin star quality at those prices. The presentation on the plates was great. Focaccia and the butter with coffee were phenomenal. The cocktails were good as well. We were served 2 glasses of Mexican wine and here we were quite disappointed for 2 reasons:
- 1: they just brought glasses of wine to the table which weren't served in front of us. And we didn't get any explanations on the names of the wine as well as the types of grapes etc... Big disappointment here, it's not the gourmet way to do it.
- 2: the red wine was served COLD! Red wine should never be served cold that's a huge mistake and not the proper way to taste it...
Service: the waiters were professional, friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, we had to keep on asking them for more water and more bread, which should instead be "automatic" in a gourmet restaurant.
Atmosphere: fancy and modern vibes outside on the sand. The place is really enchanting and there's some space between tables. It just happened to be VERY windy that night and it was honestly freezing: by the end of the dinner we all needed a coat. We had a live music band play throughout the night until maybe 1am. We were initially happy with it but ended up quite disappointed as they basically played "lounge music" until midnight. We would've expected the music to get more energetic/vibey leading up to midnight. Also we had friendly racoons come and visit our table. I would recommend NOT giving them any food, but they were not aggressive at all.
Tldr: we spent a great NYE at Ser Esencia. If you want to position yourself as a gourmet restaurant (and charge clients as such), you need to be perfect. The restaurant is not quite there yet, however if you fix all the things I've mentioned above, you'll get closer to it.
Wishing all the best to the whole team. And happy to answer if you have any more questions on my feedback/review.
