Overall, our recent dining experience at Serafina in Aventura Mall was a mixed bag, significantly hampered by misleading information online that affected our decision to dine there.
The Food: Average Quality, Generous Portions
The food itself was average in quality. While nothing stood out as exceptional, the portion sizes were quite large, which may appeal to some diners.
Service: A Tale of Two Experiences
The actual wait service was good: our server was attentive and handled the table well.
However, the experience with the online listing and the response to it was extremely disappointing. We use online menus and listings to make informed decisions about where we eat, which is why the lack of several advertised items was so frustrating. When we inquired about multiple items that were clearly listed online but were not on the restaurant's actual menu (and not just sold out), we were essentially told they simply don't carry them.
The response from the staff member was not an apology for the false advertising, but rather an unhelpful comment along the lines of, "I hate when they do that (online)." While I appreciate the honesty, this is a major issue that impacts customer trust and should be addressed by management. Advertising items you don't offer is false advertising, and it's a huge letdown when it's the reason you chose the venue.
Final Verdict
If you're looking for large portions and don't rely on the online menu for specific items, you might find Serafina acceptable. However, the disconnect between their advertised menu and what they actually offer, coupled with the dismissive response to the issue, makes it hard to recommend. Serafina needs to immediately update its online listings to reflect the actual menu.
