Why Does Every Bar in NYC Want to Be a Speakeasy Right Now? - Eater NY

"Today’s speakeasies — bars with clandestine entrances that hope to evoke those born out of the Prohibition era — are nothing new to the city. But Time Out New York reports that after a pandemic hiatus, speakeasies seem to be opening en masse again. In recent months, bars like One19, Saint Tuesday, UnPublished at Serafina in the Sky, D.O.M., and the Cactus Shop have branded themselves as speakeasies." - Emma Orlow

The atmosphere is beautiful but the food is pretty bad. We were very disappointed. Considering the numerous other places there are to eat Italian food in this city, we do not recommend. The Bruschetta was good but a little bland. The bread was perfect but the tomatoes needed seasoning and balsamic. 8.5/10 Our mojitos were very flavorful and that was probably the best thing. 10/10 The cesar salad was good but the croutons were stale. 7/10 The Meatballs were bad. Dry, bland, and just tasted like ground beef with no other ingredients or seasoning. The sauce was okay and the bread that came with the meatballs was very burnt, tasted so bad and stunk when it came to the table. 2/10 The ravioli was undercooked and a little bland and could have used some lemon perhaps. 6/10

3.5 - a nice tucked away restaurant in a hotel. It’s a few levels above ground which gives it a decent view. We were hoping to get to sit on the patio but they had it closed that day. The service was attentive and quick. The food was pretty standard Italian food. Nothing extremely impressed me. The portions are fairly small but not incredibly so. Their free bread was slightly tough and stale. I wouldn’t highly recommend eating here but if you need a place in a pinch it’s a decent choice!

Excellent service, amazing food & drinks, and overall a great time. Best tiramisu I ever had. Very attentive staff. Would highly recommend, especially for groups. Went here for a group dinner for 15, & loved that we had a circular table to see and talk to everyone.

I went there for dinner as it was inside my hotel lobby. I didn't expect much. I ordered a grilled salmon with avocado and tomato tartar. The food was great. Salmon was grilled perfectly. I got a complimentary Champaign as a hotel guest it went with salmon so well. The price was reasonable for NYC.

Excellent hangout for happy hour or dinner. Enjoyed a networking event here associated with a conference that I attended in NY. We had small bites buffet style food, which was delicious. The waiters were attentive and the bartender made excellent cocktails. Overall great vibes. Would certainly return.

First time at this location. It was a pleasure dining here. Our server Janel was so friendly. Always on top of everything. I tried the piña colada cocktail and it was fabulous. Food was delicious. The charcuterie platter was amazing and the chicken a la parmigiana spectacular. Nice view and nice patio. Although inside is more beautiful.

My fourth unique Serafina restaurant ( 3 in NYC and 1 in Boston). This is quickly becoming my go-to for Ifalian food and each place I find seems better than the last! I have to say that the prosciutto and burratta were especially delicious! Even the cheeseburger was great!

Had dinner with my sister and a group of runners yesterday night. They had to load up on carbs for the marathon and i wanted to spend some time in a cozy environment that offers gluten free options. The place is very nice, you can totally tell that lights and decor are curated in detail. The only reason why I'm giving just 3 stars is the overall confusion that my order of gluten free pasta created. As far as we understood, along the line there was a switch of plates and i ended up having regular pasta in front of me. the first bite is all it took to 1) realize that the texture was "not right" and 2) set alarm off and stop eating all along. My table expressed their concerns to the Manager (not avoiding gluten as a trend, btw, I'm allergic for real) and he handled the incident extremely well; had my order re-cooked and sincerely apologized several times Long story short, didn't have the immediate reaction but woke up at 4 am with full stomach cramps and and the usual migraine, bloating, nausea and all that jazz I was confident on the restaurant itself as i have already dined in another location and the experience was satisfying; will give them another try, probably avoiding the gluten free options and switching to seafood or a salad (restaurant was almost at capacity and as much as i understand how hectic Saturday services can be in the City, food allergies should be treated with a tad of extra attention)
