Where to Drink the Best Wine in Houston | Eater Houston

"Situated in a historic, renovated 1902 home on Heights Boulevard, Serca Wines brings the wines of the famed Mendoza region of Argentina to the Houston community. The elegant tasting room pours everything from Argentinean staple malbecs to merlots, plus a variety of other wines from regions around the world, including the rich terroir of Argentina." - Brittany Britto Garley

HOUSTON CITY GUIDE

"SERCA was born as a result of longtime dream that Sergio and Carolina Weitzman had of creating an ultra high quality wine that fully expresses the spirit and essence of Malbec. Serca is a 6-acre vineyard divided into two parcels. A 3-acre area located at 1,300 meters above sea level will produce high quality Malbec grapes to create a Super Premium Malbec. The other 3 acres are located at 1,150 meters above sea level and will produce Super/Ultra Premium, Malbec, Syrah and Cabernet Franc grapes to eventually create a wine that will include all three varietals."

I appreciate the quality wines from Mendoza. Argentina, that SERCA Winery brings to the Houston Heights neighborhood. It is a warm and inviting property — it’s like my home away from home — where I can enjoy tasting their signature Gran Corte (bold yet smooth red wine Malbec blend), the Reserve Malbec and even Cabernet Franc. Sergio and Carolina are always introducing new wines from the region. It’s an educational tasting experience and certainly an oenophile’s haven.

We really enjoyed our visit to SERCA wines! We arrived 30 minutes early before the rest of the party & while waiting, Sergio complemented us with a glass of wine, that was really sweet of him. Each glass of wine that we tasted was very light & refreshing with excellent quality. Sergio was a great host, very informative, passionate & accommodating. I can’t wait to book the chocolate & wine pairing for my next gathering.

I had an amazing experience in this wine tasting location. It is a family owned business and they offer a wine club. We were told the wine tasting service is a baby of the pandemic. We met with Alejandro and his parents and they were very warm and friendly. We got to taste their rosé and other red wines which were all dry but of amazing quality. We had a really good time. This location is great for intimate/private events. Their rooftop area is spacious and comfortable looking. Will be back!

I took my wife here for her birthday. When I say that this place didn't disappoint. We had a party of 7 an everyone had a good time. They were very professional an knowledgeable about there wines. They gave us a tour of the building. Man, that place is huge. They have this balcony that with view. That was beautiful. All in all it was a great experience. Only thing missing was some food.

Serca Wines is a hidden gem that captures the essence of charm and mystery. Set in a historic Heights home, the location itself adds to the allure of Serca. Our experience there was nothing short of exceptional. Carolina and Sergio, the warmest and most welcoming business owners, made our visit unforgettable. From the cozy and intimate setting of the tasting to the exquisite wines and cheeses, every detail was meticulously curated. Carolina’s passion and knowledge shone through as she guided us through a delightful tasting experience, showcasing the best of their wines coming out of the Mendoza region in Argentina. Overall, our time at Serca Wines was one of the most enjoyable tasting experiences we’ve had. It’s a testament to the dedication and expertise of Carolina and Sergio, who have created a truly special haven for wine enthusiasts in our own neighborhood.

What a great venue for an event! My daughter's baby shower was held at the tasting room and it was wonderful. The owners made sure we had everything we needed and were very accommodating. The food they catered was excellent and the wines were enjoyed by everyone. All the guests loved the venue, food and wine. It's truly a hidden gem in the Heights!

Laid-back atmosphere, family-owned business, excellent wine. It’s not often you find a place with this sought after mix of elements, but the care and quality of the establishment is apparent. Alejandro did a great job of walking us through the details of the wine flight we selected, while Sergio and Carolina set the stage with their descriptions of the vineyard’s early years in Argentina and the evolution of their tasting room here in the Heights. Their ability to put together an experience that made us feel like part of the family was superb. This place has all the makings of a true Houston gem.
