One of my professors brought us Sergio's pizza for our last class during my last semester of school, and everyone in my class was surprised that most of us had never had it before, especially since Sergio's is right down the street from Quinnipiac and better than the pizza people from school usually order. It's a thin, New Haven-style pizza with a crunchy, yet chewy crust and tasty sauce and cheese. The pizza I had that day was good, so a few weeks later, during finals, I decided to order from Sergio's myself.
When I went to pick it up, I was happy to see Foxon Park sodas in the cooler, and I picked up a liter. Since it was finals, my friend wanted ranch dressing to dip our crusts in (finals is a time to indulge), and the lady behind the counter happily obliged to our request. Prices were pretty standard for pizza - I paid about $17 for a large pepperoni pizza and a liter of soda. This time, though, once we sat down to eat the pizza, it was good, but some of the pieces I got were really burnt on the bottom. I like my pizza well done and crispy, but I'm talking about completely black under some slices, so it just tasted like burnt crust. Then while we stayed in school working on our finals for the rest of the night, my friend and I drank buckets of water because the pizza really salted us out.
My rating would have been 4 stars if it were only for my first Sergio's pizza experience, but I have to knock it a star for being burnt and salty the second time. Sergio's still gets extra points, though, for Foxon Park soda and for being friendly to people who like ranch dressing with their pizza.
