We had coffees and shared between two of us a Nutrition Bomb dish with a couple of sides - it was huge, fresh and delicious with a well-balanced mix of ingredients. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the cafe itself nicely laid out. With the weekend surcharge, it cost $52 - money well spent!

Fantastic quality healthy food, but very expensive. Plenty of coeliac safe gluten free dishes to choose from. The service was okay, the girl was on a phone call to someone when serving me at the end, which I found rude and let down the service experience, it is the bare minimum to have decent customer service, especially if the prices are so high.

If you’re vegan like me you know how hard it is to find vegan pancakes, and boy do Serotonin KNOW how to do vegan pancakes. I come here whenever I want to treat myself or cheer myself up. It’s such a cute cafe where you can sit near the window and enjoy the sunshine 😊

I get it. Eating healthy is expensive. But dang, Serotonin prices makes one doubt whether eating out is worth it anymore. Was the pancakes fluffy and flavourful? Sure. Was the nutrition bowl plentiful and delicious? Sure. But when a brunch for four, with smoothies and coffee, hits nearly the two hundred mark, then perhaps one got to question value for money. Inflation in this town has gotten a bit carried away. It's not necessarily businesses' fault for makig ends meet. And Serotonin may be brave not to cut corners and reduce its quality. So come here with eyes open and be ready to pay the price for eating healthy.

Serotonin has been on my bucket list for far too long and how happy am I that I finally got there today! The team are just gorgeous. There is so much love in the food. And the atmosphere was relaxed and chill. I had a fabulous meal and left full to the brim 🤰, but couldn’t help grabbing a chocolate dessert on the way out, for later. And do you think it made it home? Of course not!

Great food and service! Nice atmosphere too and good for groups mid week!

I brought my special needs client to this establishment due to its wheelchair accessibility and diverse menu options. We were satisfied with the portion sizes, which were ample enough to satisfy our hunger without the need for additional side dishes. The staff demonstrated a high level of accommodation for wheelchair users by ensuring we were seated comfortably in a suitable area. Both the drinks and food were enjoyable, and the restaurant benefited from natural lighting and a pleasant ambiance, free from loud music, which made conversation easy. Additionally, the design of the low seating area contributed to a cozy atmosphere.

Had a fantastic, nutritious and luscious brunch at Serotonin Eatery. Our dining experience was amazing. I love that Serotonin has a wide variety of nourishing food and everyone with a specific diet can dine in. Not to mention the very instagramable place, it has a lot of aesthetic corners. The swing chairs are just one of the cool features of the restaurant. The place was just so relaxing.

Yelp
I was already loaded on serotonin (result of two back to back fitness classes) before arriving here on a cool Sunday afternoon (around 12pm). There is ample street parking and a park with a playground within minutes away.  My friend had arrived a few minutes earlier and put down our names on the waiting list. She was told it would be a 25 minutes wait. So, in the mean time, we got coffees. She got herself a soy flat white, while I was refused a skinny cacao mocha as they do not serve skim milk. When my friend asked why, they said it was because skim milk is full cream milk with the fat removed and added sugar. Though I beg to differ, I had to suffice with the full cream extra hot cacao mocha. Their homemade cacao is bitter and hence my drink was quite bitter but I could barely taste the coffee as the cacao was so overpowering. Perhaps, I should have ordered a double shot cacao mocha.  We got seating within the 25 minutes and were offered seats in the corner. While I had a comfy couch to sit on, my friend appeared to be sitting on what looked like a bed. She had the waitress climbing up behind her to serve drinks and food. As this looked quite awkward, we were then moved to shared seating on a long table near the kitchen. Here I noticed that the cafe has outdoor seating which I would have much preferred as well as swings that you can sit on. The swings look pretty cool but I prefer stable seating.  My friend was hangry and ordered the nutrition bomb which is 23 bucks and has eggs, alfalfa sprouts, pumpkin/sweet potato and other goodness. I found the menu slightly disappointing as I love eggs and most of the dishes suggested that you add on an egg ($5 for an egg - umm I buy a dozen for around $3), but then I guess you go to other cafes for eggs or eat them at home.  I got the smiling avocado - a dish with two slices of bread (their sprouted bread is sensational), lots of cherry tomatoes, crumbed feta, smashed pea and mint puree, smashed avocado beetroot relish, and chopped chilli. The portion sizes are huge so I do not recommend you order any of their large sides to share unless you are very very hungry. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and enjoyed the slight sweet flavour that was perhaps due to the beetroot relish. I could have done with more chilli but feared asking for added chilli as that is an extra 2 bucks. Service is quick and staff friendly. They have a minimum 20 eftpos limit (seriously!) but then it's easy to exceed the $20 limit where almost everything is an add-on (eggs, avocado, chilli, sweet potato, pumpkin, and the list goes on).  I believe their menu is best catered for people who like to mix and match items to produce their own brunch meals. Whereas for me, I prefer pre-designed brunch items that are wholesome and affordable.

Yelp
This is one of my fav cafes in Melbourne! The pancakes and the burger are elite and I love how they are always creating new and exciting plant based meals to try. The service is always friendly and understanding, even when it comes to food allergies or intolerance. I pop in here for a feed whenever i can.

Yelp
I found it really hard to like this place. I found it hard to pay a minimum of $22 for something that I already eat daily. I found Serotonin to be wanky, overpriced and weirdly cult like. With dishes like deconstructed sushi and over used adjectives on the menu that want to make you (and I did) go 'WTF'? They are clearly aiming at the current happy, healthy and wholesome vibe going around but the menu has no staying power. Especially with the prices they ask of you. $10 for a coconut with a shot of espresso. Golden latte - I make this all the time at home and mine tastes better. Won't be back.

Yelp
Serotonin is a chemical created in the body and widely believed to regulate your mood. Serotonin Eatery takes the concept of good health to another level. The largely plant based menu focuses on healthy eating. Sticking with the chemistry theme, water is served in conical flasks and my ristretto came with a small beaker of sparkling water. Speaking of which coffee was strong, decent. However I enjoyed my picollo more (yes I ordered two coffees - something I rarely do), though I would've preferred it warmer, the taste was great, foamy, smooth with chocolate notes. The beans used are the Dark Horse blend from Five Senses. Ambient bass heavy tunes, an unpretentious space, individual and communal tables plus sunken seating gives this a family friendly feel. There were plenty of kids and given this is across the road from a park it's easy to duck out if the rug rats need to burn off some energy. I ordered the Plant Powered Pizza - Butternut pumpkin, thyme, garlic and rosemary base, topped with feta, pumpkin purée, eggplant, olives, zaatar, onion, pine nuts and greens. Given it was breakfast I also added a poached egg ($3). Food came quick, good texture, crispy around outside, soft in middle. The sizings are generous .. was planning on ordering a dessert (have heard the homemade Golden Gaytime is good), but was feeling fully satiated. Attentive helpful and very healthy looking staff, they had toys for the kids and quickly mopped up spills. Things went quite smoothly until it was time to pay the bill where it's a bit chaotic. A mixture of people settling bills, and those ordering coffees at the bar plus the lady with the iPad didn't accept cash. As someone who tries to eat healthy I felt clean and full by the end. This is a place I would visit again, if for no other reason than to finally try that Golden Gaytime dessert.

Yelp
Here's the thing about this place it's based on the mantra of being "happiness/serotonin dealers" my experience here didn't make me happy. I felt the whole place was a "little high on its own supply" maybe that's because all the staff and people frequenting this place subscribe to happiness/whole food/paleo theory. I like good food, I love individuality & I adore fair prices. I didn't experience much of these here. White walls, standard potted succulents, they serve water in science beakers, which I guess is their way of being edgy. The menu was very expensive. $10 for a young coconut served with a short black on the side didn't sit well with me. I do understand that ethically sourcing products and ingredients is expensive but this was excessive. We didn't eat here. I couldn't justify it to be honest. I had the "golden latte". It was suppose to be tumeric milk but it just tasted like black pepper. The thing I found to be confusing is the way the menu reads like a whole food, health conscious eatery, yet it has a scientific attitude. I understand there is a science to happiness as there is every emotion but when you are serving breakfasts and light meals I'm unsure how you can educate people over eggs. The venue is busy. Very busy yet it's aim it to create a hub for the community. In sure they will be successful because let's face it the health movement is well underway but I eat healthy most meals so I won't be returning to this place, I'll be staying at home and making my own meals for the the week for the price brunch would cost me here.

Yelp
A buzzing Cafe in Melbourne. Top of the trending cafes therefore expect a wait! A 30 minute wait on a Sunday so be prepared or get in early! A great variety of choices. Generous sizes match the prices. Although you'll be full on serotonin be sure to get a take away raw dessert in the front cabinet!

Yelp
Plant based food + swing seats + sunshine + vegan Golden Gaytime... Happiness, I have arrived. When I travel I have a hit list and Serotonin Eatery was on top of my Melbourne one. And it exceeded my Instagram stalking expectations! Situated across from a park on a neighbourhood corner, I immediately cursed everyone that calls in on the way to work - I want this to be my local! The premise is simple - food can change your life, and one look at the Serotonin menu and I knew mine would never be the same. First - the drinks menu **swoon** offers cocoa coconut latte, peanut butter latte, turmeric latte plus perfectly punchy coffee. All my obscure and delicious favourites! I had a coconut decaf mocha with homemade coconut milk that came in a hug mug with a smiley face that hit all the right spots. Breakfast was a deconstructed sushi bowl - it tasted incredible with pickled ginger, quinoa, brown rice, avocado, sesame seeds, greens, herbs, carrot and surprise flavour syringe of tamari (GF soy sauce). My friend got the rainbow nutrition bomb and both bowls filled us more than we expected, cue food coma. I also got a side of seasonal greens and avocado, 10/10. The staff were super lovely and happy to talk through the menu - the owner Emily was working and we chatted about how she started Serotonin Eatery to change people's lives. A pro tip: don't try and leave room for dessert but eat it anyway! The most popular sweet is the vegan Golden Gaytime - a creative take on my favourite childhood ice cream. Serotonin's version is more mousse like, but the flavour and look is spot on. Crumbed in activated buckwheat with that familiar caramel taste, I was swinging into cloud nine for the rest of the day. Oh yes, I did mention the swings - YES ACTUAL SWINGS! Make sure you nab one of the playful swing seats (indoor and outdoor) to pump up your serotonin levels and start your day with a blast of nutrition and fun.

Yelp
The environment here is cozy and fun, complete with pillows and swings and some nice normal tables as well. The espresso coconut is a refreshing way to start breakfast. The pancakes and the nutrition bomb were off the charts...ridiculous good! Staff were friendly and on point. Great place for a weekend brunch.

Yelp
Was brought in by the hype and could not have been more disappointed. Seating is nice -- make sure you book ahead on weekends -- but the service was questionable. Waitress gave me the bill but waited half an hour before telling me I had to bring it to the counter. Surprise surcharge for Sundays and using card, despite the fact this place is definitely not cheap enough to pay by cash. The food did not make up for it either. The selection was limited to salads, a veggie burger or pancakes. Opted for the latter which was severely bland -- was initially interested by the banana flour but tasted closer to bread with the scent of banana. Truly the La Croix of flavourless food. This was not helped by the monotony of the toppings -- sour fruits and no syrups. Healthy, but not the kind of fun place you envisage for brunch. Coffee is watery here, and thank goodness I wasn't tempted by the $10 smoothies. Save your $25 meal and buy it somewhere else. The only thing going for this place is the impeccable presentation if you're a fan of photos

Yelp
I love Serotonin Eatery. Love love love. It's a combination of the plant-based menu, good coffee, awesome soy chai lattes and happy smiling staff when I stick my head in. And I am there quite a bit. It's one of the few places in Melbourne you can get health retreat quality food with a lot of vegetables. Yes it is a little on the expensive side, but I am willing to pay more for good quality local produce. I consider it to be an investment in my health and wellbeing. I like the way they have combined the concept of the Serotonin Eatery with education and exercise. They have a gym next door and also run regular health, wellbeing and networking events. I've met the owners and I love their vision of what they are trying to create to not only improve the happiness levels of patrons but also create a community hub for locals. When I am here, I nearly always get the Nutrition Bomb. It's a giant bowl of cold roasted root veggies, kraut, spinach, broccoli, cherry tomatoes, capsicum, alfalfa, almonds, sesame seeds, home-made hummus and two poached eggs. It's all the vegetables you need for the day with some protein - throw in a golden latte with its anti-inflammatory tumeric and ginger and you have a healthy start or nurturing lunch break for the day. Highly highly highly recommend this place. They are apparently opening for dinners soon - meet you there?

Yelp
Fake avocado, over priced, small portions. Great example of social media influencing people to think it's the cool place to go, when really its average. Great marketing and not much more. I got my food through Uber Eats, but if I was in the cafe, I would not have accepted it which I never normally do, but it was that poor

Yelp
Brunch here with my mum on Mother's Day went down well. It was busy when we arrived, but we were seated quickly. Food was lovely, service was good, however when I went to pay I had no idea where or who to pay. I think it was because they were quite busy. Unfortunately they do not do filter coffee yet, however my mum loved the latte. Will be back again, if only to sit on the swings and have a juice!

Yelp
Their main theme is also being positive and sharing happiness with a smile, basically " The Science of Making you Happy!" Emily has taken the healthy eating seriously with the help of nutritionist, naturopaths, food scientist and many other specialist to create the best menu but also the best look and atmosphere of the venue.

Yelp
I never thought that looks can be judged even though I've dressed up a little less formal. I walked into this small coffee shop in Burnley to have a good breakfast. Since as the other reviews says they have the best Pancakes. Such a shame didn't get a chance to judge it, because before i was able to order it i was just simply ignored by the staff. Well i get the message. So I've never looked back and straight out to the door i showed myself out. I hope what I'ved experienced doesn't happen to you too. It's a shame to come and be treated like ÷×!^.

Yelp
Good healthy food options. I have only ordered via uber eats so I can imagine it would be better if you got it fresh at the Cafe. I got the avocado on toast which was good. The lamington was yum

Yelp
We tried the Raw Green Bowl here and it was just great- so healthy, flavorful and tasty, and very satisfying. I just loved it. Falafel burger was really good, too. So were the latte and cappuccino. We were seated at the swings by the window and that was fun. Good service and friendly staff.

Yelp
Melbournians Listen Up!!! There's a new kid on the cafe block - and she's kicking the biggest, most delicious, most exciting goals!!! Serotonin Eatery - "the science of making you happy". This is exactly what they are conquering here - happiness. Simple, balanced, nutritious, delicious food presented to perfection and with so much love. How could you not feel the warm fuzzy happiness vibes here? Whether you're sitting at the bright window-side tables, the big communals, or - every big kid's favourite - the swinging chairs (!!! I know - swinging chairs!!!), you'll be filled up to the brim with soul-refreshing goodness. Every dish has all the colours of the rainbow designed into it, so your eyes as well as your stomach, bones, heart and mind are stimulated and completely satisfied. There's milk for everyone - cows, almond, coconut. Your every dietary need is catered for and respected. Make sure you try one of the incredible raw desserts by Nutrition Darling before you leave. Can you tell I'm a fan?! Considering how many adjectives I've managed to fit into this review, it's safe to say Serotonin is my new FAVOURITE cafe and go-to-happy-place in our beautiful city. Just go. You won't be disappointed.

Yelp
This is my new favourite place to go in Melbourne. I'm sad they don't open on Monday and Tuesday! Ok so you may have to wait for a table but it's really worth it. I've been On a weekend once but we went there about 11am and waited about 15 mins so I figure that's pretty ok. The service is great, everyone is friendly and helpful. They make good suggestions and actually know what they are talking about. The coffee is always great. We got the avo smash and banana pancakes we shared both so we kinda had a savoury dish and sweet dish to follow. There was lots of food and between two we couldn't finish it. The cakes look great but we were too full to try. I would recommend both the dishes we had they were lovely next time I want to try the Mexican waffles or the sushi bowl. I really like this place, it's clean, comfortable and once I sat on the swings with another friend and it was so cute.

Sue L.

Yelp
This cafe ticks all the boxes for me; everything is vegan (except one or two dishes) and gluten free. The focus is on fresh, healthy house made food and there are so many delicious options it's hard to choose! I had the fresh raw tacos which were delicious but I think I will have to return here regularly to try everything else! The dessert menu is also amazing and mostly vegan. I had the salted caramel dessert which was superb! Staff are really friendly, prices reasonable and the setting is really lovely; perfect all round!

Yelp
Awesome vibe the staff are so happy and helpful with the menu great selection of food hot drinks and juices I had the nutrition bomb and golden latte very good will definitely be coming back !

Yelp
Serotonin Eatery is my favorite cafe in all of Melbourne. From the delicious pancakes, and specialty lattes, to the energy that flows through the walls, you just can't help but feel happy when you're there. You can feel the gratitude of the staff; their interactions with each other and with customers is authentic and makes you feel at home. The owner, Emily, treats everyone as if she's known them for years and is inviting them into her special home. It's not everyday you find a cafe that has a contagious vibe with delicious, 100% nutritious food. I can't speak highly enough about this place. If you're visiting Melbourne and have time to try just one cafe, make your way over to Serotonin. You won't regret it!
