Great venue for shows. Raised stage so not a bad seat in the house! Plenty of room backstage for performers. A wonderful old fashioned bar down the hall. Prices are reasonable. Bathroom facilities as well. If you follow maps to the destination don't listen at the end. After the front door w steps there is ample free parking in a lot. Maps will have you passing it and veering the wrong way!

Old fashioned but very nice! Saw a wonderful "Always...Patsy Kline!"

BINGO REVIEW I wanted to leave a review to let people know what to expect because my friends and I attended for the first time — there is no signage or instructions, and the volunteers/attendees were not helpful or kind. Come early to find parking and a seat. These people are cut throat - I got cut off in the parking lot, and in the huge hall people gave us so much side eye when looking for seats! Everyone had their stuff spread out across extra chairs so it was hard to find a group of seats. Buy in is CASH ONLY. You can buy the games you want to play or $25 for all the main games, and a $3 dabber pen. There are also extra add on games you can buy that seem to increase your chances and prize money. They have a bar that takes cash or card with affordable drinks, you can go up to purchase or wait until someone comes around the bingo hall to take orders throughout the game. it seems you can also bring your own snacks and non alcoholic drinks too. I think there were 8 main games and we were there from 630-930pm with a break at 745-8. They have screens that show the current game and the numbers called, which was helpful because the vibe is chaotic (microphone hard to hear over everyone talking, they don’t really explain the rules just expect you to know, plus they are also announcing numbers for the add on games at the same time as the main game). We tried asking around for help but people take this game SERIOUSLY so didn’t want to be bothered, and the volunteers were not very knowledgeable — Honestly you get the hang of it after a while but just expect to be confused. TLDR; expect chaos, affordable drinks, grouchy people, but fun bingo and large prizes!

Went for a fisherman's swap meet and found good down to earth folks. Found great deals on lures and refilled my box for the baja! I was all smiles to see antiques as well as high quality stuff by various folks selling their surplus and new items. Recommend for you fishermen out there.

Way too much favouritism in this place. Very noisy due to the fact people are drinking and the more they drink the Louder, they get. You’re totally distracted all night with everyone in the place saying shhhhhhhhhhhhhh loudly all night including the caller on the mic! Management should be the only ones asking the hall to keep the noise down. Enforce the rules as this can become a very volatile environment.

Google
Beautiful place!! Would recommend! Only reason for not giving 5 is because I did not rent the hall, I was a guest, so I don't know the cost of the venue.

Went to bingo tonight for the first time. Pretty good buy-in price and better odds than a casino (2 people in my party both won). They have great payouts. I will say the food was pretty good, but they were under prepared. My hamburger was supposed to come with chips, but they ran out. They also ran out of napkins. They also ran out of regular coffee and only decaf was available. Other than that...the workers were very nice and helpful with questions. It was a good time over-all.

A very nice Hall. The 1st Tikitrader of 2022 was a fun-filled show. Enjoyed by everyone who attended...😄

Yelp
Being of 100% Portuguese blood and heritage, I love the United Portuguese SES Hall. The letters "SES" reference "Sociedade do Espiritu Santo", which translates into English as "Society of the Holy Spirit". The Hall hosts many events all year round. However, my favorite are the monthly prix-fixe dinners served in the atmospheric bar. The bar room is lined with leather booths, stained glass windows and has a cozy and warm environment. It is a kind of secret Grant Grill in feeling. These dinners consist of four courses and are priced at $95.00 for two persons, including a bottle of Portuguese Wine you can select at the table. The next dinner, on Friday, April 8, 2022, the day before my birthday, will feature sea bass. Call the Hall a week or so before the event to reserve your booth; walk-ins are not permitted. There is also a charming market inside the Hall featuring Portuguese products that is worth a look. Come visit the market and buy a piece of our proud Portuguese culture to take home with you!

Yelp
If you need a hall for an event, check out this one. The location is easy to get to and there is plenty of parking. Tiki Trader had their annual event here. It was set up perfectly. A place where you walked in, up the stairs is where everyone checked in. I could picture this being a great spot for a wedding reception. The inside was set up where you could move around easily from vendor to vendor. The outside was a huge fenced in area that was an extension to the inside. Lots of room to move around. Great place for any event!

Yelp
Special note to the security personnel...they were very kind and respectful. I even heard this from other people. The parade was very good. Nice to see some different things. The bazar was good, as always. We attended all three days. The Portuguese food items were very good, and the meat items were not overcooked like in previous years. On the last day, we went over to the hall around 6:30, and lots of food items were sold out!! They had some left-over soaps meat, and used it for sandwiches...delicious. They may want to consider that as a food item in the future. The entertainment was very good. The bands were good, as well as the Portuguese dancers. This event is a must go-to every year!!! Odette

Yelp
This is a hall that hosts the Tiki Trader events after Bali Hai stopped having it on their premises. Plenty of indoor and outdoor room for this event so you never feel too crowded wile shopping. They also have a really reasonably priced bar. Old school lounge are

Yelp
I've lived in this neighborhood for 3 years and just recently found out that there was this hidden gem that offered Bingo on Thursday nights. Now this isn't something I'd usually look for, but recently I had promised to try more activities out of my comfort zone. And this was definitely that! First off, the regular Bingo goers take it very seriously. We definitely stood out as newbies. A couple of players were very nice and helped explain to us what was going on as each game started. We were naive to think this was just simple Bingo, but instead each game was a different version that we weren't familiar with. $21 got us 21 games. They also have a kitchen where they offer fresh made dinners and snacks for really low prices (we had homemade lasagna, salad, and a roll for $7), and a bar where you can grab a drink. We had a blast! Now that we learned a few things, we will be more comfortable the next time we go. And we're already thinking of which friends to invite.

Yelp
I've been going there for bingo for years. It's a very noisy time while you're trying to play bingo especially from those who are drinking. All you hear all night is the caller saying can we have it quiet and people shushing people and people yelling be quiet it's very disturbing.. It really doesn't help because people continue doing what they want to do because nobody really enforce the rules. It would be nice if there were some organization in the place. A big pet peeve that I have that I keep telling the workers but they don't listen is when you're in line to buy something don't have someone come to the front of the line and buy because it's actually your turn and if that person who cut in line wins that could've been your winning as it happened to me last night, and when I approached the worker and let her know, she just looked at me like I had the problem, but actually she had the problem. Don't do it.! You don't let people cut in the front of the line because they're your friends and once again that is my pet peeve! This is the only bingo hall that I've ever attended that they do that and when they're walking around selling pull tabs and you call the worker and you should be the next person in line but somebody's before you that they know want to buy pull tabs they get priority. It shouldn't be because they spend more money and they are treated different than you. It Should be the one who called you first. Different rules for the big spenders. There are certain people that work there that are very friendly and I have a lot of respect for them. I just don't like some of the things that go on in there. These are my thoughts and opinions and I had to express them!

Yelp
The smell of sausage and Portuguese beer lured me. I had no idea a couple of Sundays ago, that there was a Portuguese event going on for a hundred years already in Point Loma, at the entrance of Shelter Island! What a surprise! As Spaniard, I share with the Lusitans part of the geography of the Iberian Peninsula. Plus I speak their musical language, so I felt immediately at home when I saw this fair going on. My friend was not very inclined to a massive event (it was packed and barely could move from stand to stand) but could see the great atmosphere and how the Portuguese elders who emigrated here long ago and took Point Loma as home, have passed the traditions to the newer generations of Portuguese-San Diegans. The United Portuguese S.E.S. is a non-profit association to acknowledge the Portuguese-American community. The hall and chapel were built in 1922 and are currently and host the the Annual Festa do Espirito Santo, which is claimed to be San Diego's oldest ethnic festival. Music, food and fun, and catching up with the roots!

Yelp
Never judge a book by its cover. I came here and attended a wedding reception of a family friend of mine. The place is huge and easily hosted a party of 300. The AC was on full blast and the bar was fast to pour. The parking lot was easy to get in and out of and had ample parking. The restrooms were clean and stock piled with all the necessities. A great option for a wedding reception, retirement party or birthday party. I felt very secure as there was also security onsite. Old and rustic but still elegant. Thanks United Portuguese SES for providing a great place to enjoy with family and friends.

Yelp
Rad place ...i grew up in L.A. going to the Portuguese hall in Artesia (Artesia d.e.s.). I went here for the Euro cup final and for the Champions League final...its really great here , the staff is extremely friendly and greet you right when you walk in. Its really a family ran establishment and they make you really feel at home. Its not expensive and its not in the public eye so dont expect a bunch of hipsters here but when you do come here you will leave with a piece of community history and a great story...check it out you will thank me later. Its as close as youll get to Europe in San Diego youll ever get.

Yelp
What a beautiful facility for wedding, baptism or any kind of party! The manager Andres is a gem and is so helpful to make your party run smoothly. A great full bar and beautiful kitchen too!

Yelp
Too many good people pay too much hard earned money to come here and play BINGO. A conservative estimate would be well over $30,000 played with a nice profit for the venue. Last night was HORRIBLE. The caller made mistake after mistake after mistake. Wrong numbers called, numbers put in the wrong opening, numbers wrong on the board, not paying attention and leaving balls showing when they were not in play, not knowing what game was being played, not explaining games for the new players... The mistakes wasted all our time and frustrated everyone. The caller had NO control over the audience. It was chaos, loud and impatient. And again, 'Flash' card games were distributed to a few favorite customers, most people never knew they were being sold until the game was played and we weren't a part of it. This is an ongoing problem. Half way through the night the ice bucket was empty. It stayed that way. It sucked to see all the black debris in the bottom of the bucket. BINGO is supposed to be fun. It was NOT.
