Overall, I’m disappointed. The service and atmosphere were great, but the flavours were lacking. I prefer straightforward, balanced dishes, and these seemed to have an uneven mix of ingredients. My expectations were high given its Michelin two-star status, but the reality was underwhelming.

We are not impressed by any dish at all. I am disappointed by how much tasting excitement they as a Michelin two stars have to offer. It is not so good as compared to other Michelin’s I had. The fish dishes were even very fishy in an unpleasant way. The food is just okay, but I have to be critical when they have two stars, with dishes not matched to that honor.

Wonderful food and fantastic staff. We had the Ten Years anniversary menu. Every course was beautifully presented and tasted delicious (although the Eel wasn't to out taste). Very highly recommended for a special dinner.

We enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. The waiting staff was very nice and knowledgeable and this is a crucial part of the dining experience.

Friendly service, elegant environment and innovation flavours. All dishes are citric in different ways, which highly express the style of the chef. Nonetheless, the food is at great quality, delicately presented, definitely up to 2 Michelin stars quality.

Amazing restaurant, fully in line of what you would expect from 2 stars. Elegant setting, polite service and amazing food. We took the standard menu and they were kind to allow us to swap some dishes and replace them with a la cart. My number one dish if I had to give rating was spaghetti with sea anemone and prawn tartar equally great was the signature risotto with strawberry and herbs. Then blu lobster but basically every dish was wonderful. Desert was a highlight too. Thank you Seta team for an unforgettable experience.

Amazing food in a stunning dinning space. Our first time here so had to try the classic tasting and it was fantastic. Definitely want to come back again and try the seasonal tasting menu for our next visit. All the dishes were great but my favourite was definitely the eel and foie gras dish

Having dinner at Seta is not just a meal, it is a food experience. Located inside the Mandarin Oriental, Seta delivers world-class service and unforgettable cuisine. The servers for our tasting menu were warm, attentive, and unobtrusive. Hospitality here has the same attention to detail as the food being served. Chef Antonio Guida and his team deliver a tasting menu nothing short of extraordinary. Each plate is as delicious to eat as it is beautiful to look at. It was seventeen courses, and we left full and happy but not overly stuffed. From pigeon to sea urchin to risotto to three courses of dessert featuring a special Easter bread, everything I ate was unique, delicious, and prepared in a creative way. Seta should be a destination for everyone. Chef Guida and his team have created a celebration of flavor and hospitality that will leave a lasting impression with you. The meal was not inexpensive (it was rather expensive) but it was definitely worth every penny. It is not hyperbole to say dinner was spectacular.

As good as it gets with a delightful food tour of land, air, and sea, and pristine service by the team, followed by a visit and greeting from chef Guido himself. The food itself is superb - every dish was meticulously curated with the perfect balance of flavors and textures. I can still remember the silky, creamy, and refreshing bite of lobster even a week after the meal. We opted for the Seta course, which came with 5 additional dishes from the chef. The service is what brought the overall experience to another level. The team here definitely goes above and beyond in the most refined way possible, ensuring that the guests' every potential need was accommodated. For example, our bread basket was changed with almost every course since the bread should never be room temperature. Truly a world-class experience - and at the fraction of the cost of a Michelin 2-star in the US.

Love love love this spot. I visited while on a Solo vacation trip. It's owned by the mandarin oriental hotel. Classy, elegant spot. Definitely a crowd favorite. It definitely earns its 2Michelin star ratings. I began my experience here at the bar, with an appetizer and drinks, and I was told it was the best mandarin oriental bar in the world, by two other guests. (Lucky me) and they were right Service was great, good music flowed through the speakers. After apps and drinks at the bar I was then led out to the patio, for my main course. The outside patio, had a female DJ who played some good hits for the patrons who sat out there having dinner and drinks. Here I was served a bowl of extremely yummy pasta custom made for me by the chef himself. (Princess treatment? Yes pls) lol The staff were extremely nice and pleasant, and most importantly- well informed. Good looking people everywhere. Expensive jewelry in the hallways, nice to look at but not pocket friendly :) I will definitely return.

Highlights: * One of the best restaurants in Milan * Around 220 Euros per person plus drinks/wine for the multi course menu * Two star Michelin Chef Antonio Guido * Inside and outside courtyard dining in the elegant Mandarin Oriental * World Class wine list with focus on Italy and some outstanding choices by the glass as well * Elegant surroundings and outstanding service with creative and artistically prepared dishes If you are looking for a two star Michelin experience and don't mind spending around 600-800 euros per couple for lunch or dinner with wine, (maybe a lot more depending on your wine choices) Seta is worthy. This is not the first rodeo for accomplished Chef Antonio Guido having worked at Pierre Gagnaire in Paris, Enoteca Pinchiorri in Florence, Don Alfonso in Amalfi and Il Pelicano in Tuscany where he won two Michelin stars as Executive Chef in 2004 and 2010. He nearly immediately earned his first Michelin star for Seta only 4 months after he opened in 2015 and went on to earn a second star the following year. What distinguishes a two star Michelin restaurant from a one star or no star? In my opinion it is an incredible attention to detail at every level; the servers, their training, the table settings, glassware, ambience, wine selection, and of course the food. The food at most two star restaurants is an art form as it is here. You will find unique creations as well as creative interpretations of familiar flavors done in a way to enhance their visual and culinary qualities. We enjoyed the La Via del Seta (Seta's Way) menu (220 euros pp) which included seven dishes Guido is most proud of as well as many additional surprises. For fine wine lovers you can start you meal with a glass of Krug Grand Cuvee at a fair price of 60 euros, or you could even have a Vintage Krug for only 100 Euros per glass, not too many places in the world serve vintage Krug by the glass. We were having lunch in the courtyard and didn't want to drink bottles of wine at lunch so after the Krug the outstanding Sommelier recommended a Pinot Bianco. I don't usually expect much from Pinot Blanc, but his selection, a Vorberg Riserva from 2012 poured from Magnum at 30 Euros per glass, was a truly outstanding example of the best of it's varietal, aromatic with a long finish, a great match for the seafood centric menu, and purportedly built to last for decades. You can find the menus online as well as some of my photos so I will not bore you with long descriptions. I realize this price point is not for everyone, or for many only for special occasions, and if you are not a serious foodie the investment may not be worth it for you, i.e. everything in life is a balance of cost vs benefit which is very subjective. The food here is not going to change your life. Some dishes may put a smile on your face, others may wow you a bit, but obviously somewhere between 500 and 1,000 US dollars for lunch may not suit everyone. Of course there is great food in Italy without this high price tag to be found.

The seating in a glass house is very appealing. Once inside, you find it's a bit loud. The service was okay. The pasta was okay, nothing to write home about. The creme brûlée was clumpy and reheated.

Perhaps my palate is still not distinguished enough for such cuisine, but I just do not understand how Seta can garner such amazing reviews. I have been to multiple Michelin star restaurants in the US, Spain, Sweden, etc., and Seta was easily the worst, and the only time I felt I was actively being ripped off. For a two star restaurant, there were issues at every step of the experience. I made reservations for 1930. I wasn't seated until five minutes after; it honestly didn't even seem like they were ready for guests until 1945. They post their menus online, along with the prices of each, so I was expecting to pay a hefty sum. However I wasn't expecting them to try and hit me up for more money throughout the meal. When I first sat down, I was offered what I thought would've been a complimentary glass of wine (I guess my bad for assuming as such and not asking?). In the middle of the meal I was offered cheese off a cheese cart. At the end was offered chocolate and more alcohol. I also added on the shaved truffles to one of the dishes. The staff graciously waited for me to get my camera out to film him grating the truffles. I was not aware I was supposed to tell him to stop, and ended up paying over $50 for shaved truffle toppings?!? It felt like they were more concerned about adding to the bill than contributing to the experience of the meal itself. As for the meal, I opted for "La via del Seta/Seta's way". Some things that were amazing and/or truly unique: uni ice cream: This was a "surprise" dish that wasn't on the actual list. It was honestly incredible, it tasted exactly like uni, and perfectly balanced in terms of sweetness/savoriness. It's crazy to me that their best dish is essentially an extra throw in to the main setlist. Spaghetti: Perfectly balance again with flavors and textures. I also just love red shrimp parfait alla liquirizia: I hate liquorice and I don't like tobacco. This dish somehow made both these items delicious, and once again perfectly balanced with flavors and textures. I can't believe this dish is this good and is a testament to the talent in the kitchen seaweed butter: the seaweed butter that came with the bread was amazing, but once again, butter shouldn't be one of the top highlights of a two-star Michelin restaurant The disappointing: risotto: the staff was very high on this one, he stated it was one of the highlight dishes of Seta. This was probably my least favorite dish. Everything about it was a mess to me. The presentation is just...ugly: bright, red raspberry dust on a pool of puke green herbs cream?? Flavors are confusing. This was course 3/7 (excluding "surprises"), yet I feel like I'm eating dessert with how sweet the raspberry is, which overpowers the dish. astice blu: the blue lobster (the measly two bites I got) was cooked perfectly. I just wish they weren't so cheap on the portions. This dish left me wanting more in a bad way. Every other dish I had was forgettable to decent. But once again we're talking TWO-MICHELIN stars here!! Seta can't just be decent, especially in a city like Milan that's full of amazing, and certainly more affordable, restaurants. To top things off, for how quick they were to sell me more stuff, it took over 20 minutes just to get my bill. There's clearly some incredible dishes here; the talent is clearly there. It's just unfortunate that a lot of the dishes seem to be more style over substance. Seta lingers too much on the pretentious side of cuisine and I can't recommend this restaurant at all.

An absolutely outstanding meal, certainly worth two Michelin stars. The chef himself came out at the end of the night to say hello to all tables. What a wonderful thing to do! Service was exceptional. Everyone is trained exceptionally well. New utensils every dish, glasses never empty! We got the tasting menu (not the seasonal one) - everyone at the table must get the same tasting menu. However, they do allow you to substitute out some items. Drinks are expensive (€20 for Aperol Spritz) but to be expected for this service and location. The selection cheese is separate from the tasting menu. The coffee at the end was exceptional too. This is a world class experience and easily one of the best meals and dining experiences I have ever had. They did something extra for us since we were celebrating our anniversary. Everything we ate was outstanding and different enough. My only complaint is that the eel had just a little too much sauce (and it was salty, so a bit overpowering). And I wish there was a bit more difference in some of the textures. Stars of the tasting menu: risotto, lobster, oyster, foie gras and pigeon... I mean, everything was amazing. We were extremely full at the end of the meal. The utensils and plating are just stunning. This is a meal for a very special occasion, but be ready to drop the €€€ If you cannot get reservations from their website, email them. If you want to book terrace seats you have to book at least three weeks in advance.

Every time I want to entertain clients or colleagues, who are into fine dining, I bring them here. It is everything you would expect of a Michelin star dining experience. Very knowledgeable, sommelier, creative dishes. Solid wine list. One thing to keep in mind that dinner is a three hour affair. Special occasions only.

A memorable dinner with flawless, attentive service, creative and perfect dishes, and a check that, while of course significant, was not too high for the quality of the experience. Seta is probably the best fine dining restaurant I ever tried in Milan.

Seta is the epitome of what a Michelin Two Star dining experience should be. Excellence across the board from ambiance to service to food. Let's start with ambiance since that is the entry point for the experience. Located towards the rear on the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, the room has a modern style but remains surprisingly warm with ample wood finishes and excellent lighting which is neither to bright nor to dim. Tables are well spaced so it is a perfect setting for either a romantic dinner or extravagant business dinner where you really need to impress the client. The separation from the less formal bistro that you must pass through to enter Seta is very clear so it feels as if you are in a completely different restaurant. We had a window table that allowed a view of the courtyard that I found particularly appealing. The food was amazing and every dish was like a piece of edible art. Make no mistake, however, Seta is not a restaurant where the chef sacrifices flavor for appearance but rather one where each dish appeals equally to all of the senses. Seta offers three tasting menus (for us Classics, Seasonal and Game) and you can choose how many courses you would like. You can also choose to order a la carte and select dishes across the three tasting menus, which is what we did. You start off with an assortment of small bites all of which were unique. The quail egg was my personal favorite, which you can enjoy over an aperitif. You then get an amuse bouche, which was also interesting. I then had the sweetbreads prepared with both a more tradition sauce but also a grapefruit sauce that really displayed the creativity of the chef in combining flavor profiles at least I would not have expected. What a stunning success as the acid was a perfect offset to the richness of the sweetbreads. Thelma had an eggplant dish that was also excellent but not quite to the same level, at least for me, as my sweetbreads. We then shared an amazing risotto dish that definitely ranks as the best I have ever had. For our mains, I had the hare off the game menu and she had the lamb off one of the other menus. Both were outstanding. The lamb was cooked to perfection, although the combination with a bit of cuttlefish was a tad adventurous for me. The hare had all of the richness and flavor one would expect from a dish selected off a game menu and was a brilliant pairing with our 2012 Casanova De Neri Brunello. All dishes were perfectly proportioned so you were full but not stuffed. The dessert selection is also excellent and again well displays the creativity of the Chef. Thelma had a what they called a licorice parfait with specially cured tobacco leaves and a bit of chocolate powder. I could not imagine having a dessert with tobacco leaves but it was really delicious and the leaves just imparted a smoky flavor with no bitterness. Paired with a wonderful Madeira that really accentuated the flavor profiles. I had a more conventional dessert that was also excellent and equally well paired with suitable wine, which we selected after discussing the choices with one of the sommeliers (there are several working the floor). Of course, countless little treats than followed till we finally cried No Mas. So let's turn to service which was at the highest level as one would expect for a two star and the accompanying price point. The combination of professionalism and friendliness was just as it should be. Happy to answer any questions and spend as much time with you as desired. At the same time, attentive to every detail but completely unobtrusive which is a very difficult balance to achieve. Naturally, nothing was hurried or rushed. As I already mentioned the Sommelier staff is incredible as it should be given the very extensive wine list. While you rarely find stuffy sommeliers in any restaurant these days, they were incredibly helpful and very interested in guiding your selection based on what you desire, not what they think you should have. The lead sommeliers' body of knowledge was breath taking as he guided me to our ultimate decision after I gave him a range of options I was considering. His description of our wine was spot on and it was an excellent match with our food choices. In sum, Seta is a must, must visit restaurant in Milan if extraordinarily dinning experiences are your jam. Worth every penny!! Apologies for the absence of pictures but frankly we were just having to much fun immersing ourselves in the whole experience.

Quite pretensios staff. Was charged 300 Euros for inability to make the reservation. My flight was delayed from New York. Tried to speak to staff about either removing charge or having dinner the next night. After multiple phone calls they were totally unwilling to accommodate. So if they lack humanity/flexibility and wish to be treated with a 1 star, that is what they deserve. Better establishments distinguish themselves by being more understanding of unavoidable situations.

Opened in 2015 and toqued by Antonio Guida, a former 2* Michelin recipient at Il Pellicano in Tuscany, Seta offers a contemporary look at Italian cooking influenced by time in kitchens from Europe to Asia, stints at Pierre Gagnaire and Don Alfonso unmistakably influencing plating as well as flavor profiles, beauty with balance achieved in some of the most unlikely places. Booked for private events both nights in town, afternoons open with the full menu available in addition to a Business Lunch that varies frequently, it was just past 12h30 that a posh table in the shaded outdoors was suggested, Wi-Fi and reading material kindly offered along with the menu from which four plates were selected, Chef Guida stopping by shortly thereafter and self selecting to add two more at no charge. Skipping canapes for unknown reasons, instead sending out crisp Grissini and Warm Sourdough with the same Butters offered at Pierre Gagnaire's Twist at The Mandarin Oriental back home, confit Guinea Hen began the menu as an amuse far more memorable than many thanks to Parsnips and Green Apple, a bed of soft Rice thickened by Cheese at the center of herbal Veloute absolutely enchanting with light notes of Raspberry soon to follow. Not a meal to be rushed, though several suits managed to consume three courses plus wine in sixty minutes or less, course two featured seven black Dumplings under a veil of tentacles with flavors of the ocean front-and-center, a filet of roasted Turbot with Asparagus and Caviar a 'gift' in every sense of the word in a pool of effervescent Miso Mayonnaise. Not remotely a 'small plates' place, two a la carte courses likely to satisfy most, secondi consisted of a large Pigeon Breast cradling seared Foie Gras atop a bed of Polenta with Breadcrumbs and Pineapple, pre-dessert similarly embracing a sweet/salty juxtaposition as dehydrated Olives punctuated a Sundae with Stonefruits. Acknowledging that the selected dessert would take twenty minutes, and thus opting to offer one more gratis during the wait, flavors of Campari were presented in a refreshing array of flavors, textures and temperatures, the "Souffle al Cioccoiato" reaching for the ceiling in all its fluffiness and coming across bitter yet elegant with a side-dish of Cucumber Sorbet, Rosemary and Mango.

Came to Milan for one night and decided to fine where Michelin says I should of all the choices I choose Seta because reviews were quite favorable. The staff has been fantastic from my first inquiry for reservation and although I am tired and jet lagged having flown from New York only to fly back in a few hours the food is delicious. Every bite is a new invitation. I went with the chefs tasting menus to gain a full rounding of the experience. This is fine dining...haven't found a complaint...can't think of one. Nestled in the back of the Mandarin Oriental with its very lively lobby. This is quiet and intimate. The staff is accommodating and courteous. The wine list is lengthy there's a page devoted to by the glass which is more than most I've seen but you will have your pick of tastes and treats. Next time in Milan and you want to enjoy fine dinning do yourself a favor and try Seta!

Excellent meal with all the elements that you would expect from a posh city such as Milan - beautiful interior design, sharply dressed service and oh yeah - the food was good. Crazy good? I dunno. I couldn't find any faults with my meal but I also didn't find anything that was earth shattering, memorable or worth recommending. To me it's the type of place you can go to celebrate something special or perhaps to impress someone. But as far as culinary adventure or true foodie experience? It falls a bit short in my book.

A group of us in Milan for business chose this place as a last minute dinner spot. I was jet lagged from my arrival so an early seating was accommodated. The service was spectacular and each dish was incredible. There were lots of amuse bouche, intermezzos, and treats in addition to our orders. I would definitely recommend!

Wow! An excellent evening at a 2 Michelin star restaurant. The food is incredible, beautifully balanced throughout the night. However, I think this restaurant is set apart from others due to the synergism from all the employees. For example, we have had some amazing meals with excellent wine pairings. Here, we had some dishes/pairings which changed the way we look at wine with food. That can only come about by the sommelier and chef working tirelessly every day, tasting, tasting, tasting. I know it sounds silly but that work is greatly appreciated by us. If you decide to dine here, simply put yourself into their hands. But don't just eat or drink, try to appreciate why they are serving the food to you, from stemware to plates to plating. Amazing chef and employees!

Excellent Michelin star dinner in Milan located inside the Mandarin Oriental Hotel. Outstanding service. The risotto dish was my favorite. Come hungry as the dishes are quite decadent and rich. There is always a second stomach for dessert though!

Just the best experience in terms of excitement of each dish that came to the table, surrounded by beauty - environment and the staff. Truly a visit to a wonderful dream.

We were in Milan for a few days and Seta looked like a top choice. Little did we know! Located in the Mandarin Oriental, this is a Michelin-started restaurant that deserves three! Fabulous, ultra-professional service without a whiff of pretension. The food is inventive, but always with a purpose -- intense flavor and amazing contrasts. From the amuse bouches to the after-meal treats, just out of this world. I've eaten at many of the best restaurants in the world, and this is right up there!

Five stars. Not only was the service spectacular, but the food was even better. It was a comfortable and delicious experience.

The hostess couldn't find our reservation, had to explain ourselves several times to multiple staff members. After 15 min, they sat us in the bar area and didn't serve us. Then a manager came over and asked us again about having a reservation. Horrible service.

I'll be honest, I wanted to kill myself right there at the table. I should've known the second I entered that it was not going to be a good dinner. We were seated in the patio which was cute but extremely hot. The menu was very limited and we ordered all the recommendations of the house. We waited 10 minutes and they served me some gazpacho which was delicious and some horrible buttata with seafood broth. Buttata is great but when mixed with the sauce it's awful. I got a tiny cauliflower starter which I literally ate in 3 bites. We then waited another 20 minutes to receive our pastas. The seafood spaghetti was good but not even close to the top 10 I've had in Milan this year. A for effort C for execution. After another 20 minutes we received our main courses. A chicken which was apparently delicious and I got a poached sea bass. Terrible choice on my part. It didn't have the consistency of a fresh sea bass. But at this point I was so frustrated with the long wait and subpar service I didn't care. We ordered the bill 3 times and I explain to the male that he needed to bring ME (the female) the bill. Apparently he was only going to give it to the male. This obviously pissed me off and added another unnecessary 5 minutes to my horrible experience. This is nice restaurant for couples who want to spend a lot of time together, have small plates, enjoy waiting, and like to spend money on bread (the best part of the meal were the little sticks of bread) sorry for the rant but nothing pisses me off like going to a restaurant with 5 stars only to notice these yelpers before me clearly don't have developed palates. Just because a restaurant is expensive does not mean it is good. Milan is not known to have great restaurants but there are far better restaurants than this one.
